Mrsfish I am ok thanks, very tired but not tired enough to go to bed lol.....mind you thats cos i am not in new flat and forgot to bring pillows back with me lmao.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 21:32

hi LES

have you got any cushions that you can use?

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/09/2007 21:38

J20,
Have just realised I do have one pillow here which I have been rescuing from people for a long long time......please don't all think i am disgusting lol.

Here is the scenario....

Daddy is making pillows (ok had a modern dad when I was young!!!) and he makes me one. I was 4 yrs old......28 years later I still have it WAHEYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I will never get rid of it as errrr I sleep better when I have it on my bed....only prob is I must get the sewing maching out and put a new cover on it over old one mind!!!! as stuffing comes out now from where I used to chew the corner when I was a brat.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 21:40

lol, chewing the corner..ewwww

actually, i have 2 cushions that i made when i was about 10, i need to have at least one of them to sleep

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/09/2007 21:51

J20 PHEW lol thought I was alone there.

How are you?

I am sorry I didn't contact you Lisa I had no credit until last night....When can we bring Alfie????

Soz not caught up with all messages am too tired to concentrate on reading them all.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 21:58

i'm ok today thank you, ready for bed now though!

lisad123 · 13/09/2007 22:52

Im home again.
Well HR was up again, so more tests and another ECG.
They said they will call if any results come back, but said they think the pain might be LO moving loads or due to infection as temp was up aswell.

Hope those of you that are feeling contractions are ok, and might have some good news by morning

Alicet, thanks for info will read before next appointment and shove it under my consultants nose

LES Sorry didnt reply to text, been manic here and then noticed i didnt have any texts left either Let me know when you want to drop Alfie in and will let you know if its ok. Its easier for you to tell me so it fits around your DP shifts as we are in most evenings.

Im off to bed now.

lisa

j20baby · 14/09/2007 04:25

hello

anyone awake?

can't sleep, keep sniffling and my feet are hot, heavy and itchy!

moan, moan, moan!!

lisa-poor you, your not having a very easy time of it atm are you, hope you manage to rest.

MrsFish · 14/09/2007 08:07

J20 - sorry, I managed to sleep relatively ok last night, hope you managed to get back to sleep

WinnieThePooh · 14/09/2007 08:14

Morning everyone,

I had a better night last night. I did wake a few times, but decided I was not goingto turn over to look at the clock as that would have meant not getting back to sleep for ages. I therefore managed to get back to sleep fairly easily. Finally looked at the clock at 6am.

Back ache has gone and LO has been having a good wriggle about..

Hopefully she will hold on for another couple of weeks as DP is finishing work on 2nd October. Inlaws are going away to Devon to see Pregnant SIL on Monday until Thursday. So I if I do go into labour early I will be calling on the neighours and school friends for help.

I won't be on much today as I am going to get my Avon delivieries done and try to get the house tidy so that I am not worrying about the state of it if I do go into laboutr early.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

nellieloula · 14/09/2007 08:27

morning everyone. J20, I had a smiliar night to you with the hot, itchy feet - how annoying is that? Also, Lo went all quiet on me for hours and hours (at the usually most energetic point) so I was up trying to move him/her into action which didn't happen til after 5.30. Thankfully DS decided to lie in til 7.30. He is being so good at the moment - long may it continue!

LES good to have you back and Winnie and Lisa glad to hear things are calmer with you too. Hope HMP got a good night rest too.

mrsfish - glad you slept better and the ldc sounds yum. I think i should get rid of all our bananas in banana cake but then may well move onto lemon....how much cake can as girl have at this point?!

choc - hope the M&S meal was good! what did you have? and there is nothing sad about those!

Floria - hope you managed to get some rest after such a manic time.

right - better get on. sorry to anyone elese I've missed - big hello to you and have a lovely day.

ChocolateHobnob · 14/09/2007 09:01

Hi all

Lisa - it sounds like things aren't getting easier! Are you still in pain? At least lo is moving around happily.

Nellie - good for your DS! How old is he?

Winnie, good if lo hangs on a while then! Hope it's getting less painful.

LES, hello, and hope you're okay.

J20, bleugh to have a cold - I have avoided them (touch wood) throughout pregnancy - my theory was that lo was protecting my immune system - clearly that's just wishful thinking!

Insomniacs, I intended to leave the computer in the study on all night so I could join you but actually I slept a lot better, still tossing and turning but actually not awake for hours on end, which is what makes me grumpy.

I have today off, hurrah. We're putting the frieze up in lo's room now. Just deciding on height etc. Then the furniture needs to be assembled (cue much swearing, no doubt). And hopefully seeing Alice later!

Have a good day!

j20baby · 14/09/2007 09:21

glad you all slept better, 1 seem to be waking about 3am and then not getting back to sleep till about 5, wonder if the crappy pychic was right, and will be giving birth at about 3.30 am, would much rather it was after i'd had a good nights sleep.

well, i'm going to an assembly for dd, as she has won a 'good manners' award at school [so proud!] and then going to get my brother a birthday present, apparantly my crap mother has informed sil that she can't afford to get him anything and wont be going to see him on his b'day as she is too busy (she's moving flats) selfish cow! cue big sis to have to get him something extra and say its from her, god, my family is crap.

have a nice day all

nellieloula · 14/09/2007 09:25

quick question ladies - you know how they say you should always get new mattresses and car seats etc...do you think I need to get a new mattress for the moses basket given that DS1 used it 2 years ago for a couple of months? It's one of those plastic ones (not one of the sprung ones) Just wondering whether this would do....what do you think??

j20baby · 14/09/2007 09:26

nellie-personally, i wouldn't bother, but its up to you.
stick it in the washer

FloriaTosca · 14/09/2007 09:33

Good Morning!I slept like a log until 4.30 then woke literally in a hot sweat from a horrible nightmare (won't relate it but it is because I was listening to a debate on Iraq on Radio 3 whilst driving and someone related a story about how Saddam had had a pregant woman murdered...not a story you want to hear when your labour is imminent)and LO was so very still I had to get up and find my doppler...which of course woke him/her and he/she decided to put my mind at rest that he/she was alive and kicking, literally, for the next hour !
It is so good to be home in my own bed and to have DH home...particularly as he has cancelled all his travelling for the next few weeks...it is such a relief to have him near. And that brief stay in a 4 person ward has made my mind up about whether or not to splash out on a private room; definately, yes! The girl in the bed next to mine had the window side but kept the curtains between us closed all day..even when I pulled them back she pulled them out again; she didnt speak English so I couldn't explain that I was getting no light and having to use the lamp to read by....and the woman opposite was having the baby monitored most of the night, understandably because every 10/20 mins or so its heart rate dropped significantly...terribly worrying for her...not conducive to peace to mind for those of us listening either! So an "amentity" room it is going to be, I'll book it as soon as we have a date!
Glad to hear of a few better nights sleep and to hear that most of you are ok. Still not heard from Buffy, hoping no news is good news...I'll text her later.
Hope everyone else is getting this beautiful sunshine. Have a good day.

alicet · 14/09/2007 10:46

LES ? good to hear from you again and glad all is well

Lisa ? glad you are OK and home once more! Fingers crossed you manage to avoid the hospital for a little longer this time?.

J20 and Nellie ? sorry you both had another rough night?s sleep. J20 your normal sleep habits sound very like mine when I can?t sleep. Thankfully is not every night for me though?

Choc, Winnie and MrsFish ? glad you all slept OK last night. Me too! Awake a few times to change position and up once for the loo (all regarded as normal sleep for me now anyway!) but no sustained periods of being awake ? the longest was probably about 20 mins this am when dh was trying to get dressed and ds was playing in our room! Then once dh had gone to work and to take ds to nursery I slept until 10!!!!! Its amazing how much better you feel after some decent sleep.

Choc ? enjoy sorting out your lo?s room ? I would suggest leaving the more ?challenging? items of flatpack for dh when you come meet me for a coffee!! Does that make me a bad person?! Looking forward to it.

J20 ? fantastic news on your dd! You must feel very proud! Less good on your useless mum though?. Hope you find something for your bro ? not as if YOU can afford it and have loads of time at the mo with a new baby about to arrive is it??!!!!

Nellie ? I am not replacing the mattresses ds1 used. Nothing has changed in the gudelines of how they are made since then so I don?t see the point. I am buying a moses basket one as we are borrowing from a friend and although she says not I think she would prefer we do that so I will. Definitely not car seats - I hadn?t heard you needed to do that unless they had been in an accident?

Floria ? fab news that your dh is home and not going away again! And glad you feel OK after a stressful night. Am definitely with you on an amenity room too. I was in for 3 days after ds1 was born. I had thought it would be a pain being in a room with other babies but that wasn?t actually the problem ? it was their mums!! There were 2 ladies opposite me whose babies had been premature and they were chatting for ages one night at about 2am. Now I understand they might like advice and stuff ? so whisper then don?t talk at top volume!!!!!! And the lady next to me had her dp phoning up at all hours obviously just to tell her he loved her! GGGRRRRR! Only thing I would say though is don?t get your heart set on it ? Unless your hospital has more than me there may not be any available when you go in (and we couldn?t book in advance) as they are given first on clinical priority. I could have got one the day I left but didn?t need it then!!!!

Hello to everyone el

ejt1764 · 14/09/2007 12:26

Afternoon all...

Am very glad to hear that people are feeling better today - the mood seems somehow lighter ... am also glad that the babies seem (mostly) to be staying out for the moment!

j20 - you must be really proud of dd!

If I end up with a C Section, I'll be pressing for an amenity room too ... it was horrendous when I had ds - the ward was so overcrowded, we had antenatal and postnatal women on the same ward ... nobody got much sleep!

Have been to see the acpuncturist this morning, she's booked me in to start me off (that's if mt body is ready) 2 weeks today ... she'll then see me over the weekend, to give me an extra zap ... hopefully madam will decide to come early! In fact, the nursery is now ready - dh put the cot and crib up last night - it looks so pretty! I keep going in there and stroking the clothes and blankets!

I have also started taking the raspberry leave tablets ... suggested by the acupuncturist - it can't do any harm, as according to the hospital, I'm now officially at term!

Am going to be sewing this afternoon ... have a good one, and a lovely weekend!

nellieloula · 14/09/2007 14:53

definitely agree with the amenity room - I had one with DS1 and it was an absolute godsend (although ,my abiding memeory is one of the nurses checking under the bed and in the bathroom to see if I was telling the truth that DH had indeed left at the end of partner visiting time! thankfully new hospital is a little less draconian!)

Thanks for the info on mattresses - I'm sure it will be fine too. But I was also just wanting to ask another thing - do any of you ever have days when you don't really feel pregnant? I've been feeling like that today - not sure whether it's because LO has been so quiet, still moving but considerably less, and I seem to remember feeling like this with DS1.....just don't 'feel' pregnant (despite my epic nesting this morning) not sure if I should be concerned or not. any thoughts anyone?

Kittiwake · 14/09/2007 15:22

Afternoon

Gald everyone is okay, despite all the goings on over the last few days.

Nellie I feel like that too at times, particularly recently as I have been somewhat perversely feeling better and better as this preganancy has gone on. Little one sometimes has quiet days and I don't have a huge bump and was not slim to start with so even at 35 weeks I don't look hugely pregnant with my clothes on. Was so pleased the other day when man at supermarket offered to put my bags in boot of car.

I have been busy sorting out loads of little jobs went through stuff to take to charity shops, having my haircut etc. also had new central heating bolier installed -hideously expensive but glad we don't now have to worry about it breaking down over the winter.

Hope everyone has a good weeekend and gets plenty of sleep. I am going to be helping a neighbour with a charity coffee morning tomorrow, then going to Abergavenny food fair, then to a concert in the evening if I make it that far.

Take care all

FloriaTosca · 14/09/2007 15:49

I agree ejt the mood certainly seems lighter today..though why I'm not in floods of tears I don't know (I'll admit I did have a bit of a weep an hour ago though)today would have been my Dads birthday..our first Sept 14th without him..to tell the truth I've had a niggling suspicion for weeks that I'd give birth on this date, but no sign of anything happening so far...what is worse I should be in St Annes at a funeral now, one of my Dads dearest friends (a former apprentice) who married at about the time I was born and became very close to our family (practising parenting on me!)but I've been banned from attending because of the BP problem...and in a haze of exhaustion I told my MIL yesterday that we would go to her house for dinner tonight but really I should be with my Mum and brother..they have had to go to the funeral and deal with the anniversary at the same time and I should be there to support them....perhaps we'll just go to Mums after dinner with the ils...we'll see...

Mumpbump · 14/09/2007 15:54

Afternoon all! Quick post from me...

Nellie - you can apparently re-use mattresses in the same household without it increasing the risk of cot death. It's buying second hand from another household that is linked to a statistically increased risk.

J2O - How cute is that? You must be so proud of your dd!

Lisa - hope you're okay. The infection I had last week cleared up quickly with antibiotics and they never identified the source. Hope that you get some ab's that are similarly efficient in sorting out whatever the problem is...

Had my blood test results back and my levels are the same so no immediate plans for an induction, although I have to keep the appointment with the consultant next Thursday and still think they'll want to induce asap. This condition is so horrid! I am sure it doesn't compare to the extreme pain that some of you are in, but the itching is incessant and the piritin they prescribed me hardly touches it, so I am fast becoming nocturnal as it is so much worse at night. Dh has been at home today and yesterday and we have sorted our bedroom out - 6 black dustbin liners full of rubbish!! The downsides of letting your toddler continue to sleep in your room, I guess. Anyway, feeling much more prepared for bubba, but off to go and buy some maternity pads for my labour bag and food for the weekend.

Oh yeah - and we're doing our belly cast this weekend in anticipation that the baby will most probably be coming out sometime next week!!

Hope everyone is basically okay - no point saying "doing well" at this stage of pg, hey???

Mumpbump · 14/09/2007 15:55

Floria - x-posts. Sorry to hear that you're having a tough day today. My thoughts are with you...

ejt1764 · 14/09/2007 15:59

ooooh - have taken a raspberry leaf tablet, and now have crampy pains ... have taken some paracetemol, and put my TENS machine on (lower pads only at the mo')

could this be it?

j20baby · 14/09/2007 16:05

ooo ejt!! keep us updated

where did everyone get their rapsberry leaf tea from? i want some!
