Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
alicet · 13/09/2007 13:18

OC is obstetric cholestasis - which basically is a condition where the bile flow out of your liver is restricted as a complication of pregnancy. The itching is the bile salts in your blood as a result of this. Don't ask me anymore about it as I don't know!!!

Apricott - good news on your scan.

I'm p*ssed off. My back really really aches. I'm shattered. Ds is asleep but I can't sleep as he's coughing which disturbs me too much.

Plus spoke to my consultant's sec just now and she says they won't know who is doing the section list I am booked on until the rota is published at the end of the month. Now I know that if this all happened as an emergency then I wouldn't have the luxury of going to talk to my consultant before hand but it's not and I do! And I have signed the consent form in clinic therefore there is no reason why the obstatric consultant would even come and see me before I have the section. I think I am being a bit precious but I am annoyed that I feel like I am being a pain in the arse to them when what I want to know isn't I think that much to ask? What do you think?

lisad123 · 13/09/2007 13:35

alicet, you should have chance to talk to your consultant before hand. They normally come to talk to you on the morning of the C section, well thats my understanding. HTH

Also those of you who are docs, or might know answer, I have a question on childbirth www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1365/387768?stamp=070913133144

any advice would be great.

Lisa have just posted on your other thread... Hope its helpful.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 15:48

ALICE-so what if you're being a pita to them, you need to feel happy and know what your doing and not feel uncertain, its bad enough having to go through a labour, vb or c section, without you feeling worse.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 15:54

and i think they should have an idea of who'll be doing it a bit earlier than the end of the month, since your booked for the 2nd! (sorry, had to go check what date you where in) can you keep calling them and nagging? i know you don't like to, but they should sort it out!

mg-i have no over the bump bottoms i'm afraid, got a couple of pairs of trousers, don't know if they'll be any good, also got some dresses and tops if anyone wants them? only want postage for them.

have a look at my pic trail here

got more maternity to add, but have just washed it all and it is on the line!

mrsfish-do you want your tops back or shall i pass them on?

winnie, LES, Lisa and everyone else having problems-how you feeling?

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 16:33

Hi J20 - You can pass them on, I ain't doing this pregnancy lark ever again

muppetgirl · 13/09/2007 16:41

Hi j20 -thanks for the offer but the underbump stuff falls down on me and I ended up using the bump belts to keep them up!!

Did buy some 'smock' type things from sainbury's -size 14 and they fitted really well.

Mrs Fish - me neither!!!

I want a hysterectomy/sterlised when I'm 35 (3 years) I do not want anymore children!!!!!

lisad123 · 13/09/2007 16:59

Im doing ok ish. My chest is feeling a little tight, but unsure if its to do with my heart rate or if LO is pushing inot ribs. I also feel like im bruised today across for bump. Im just waiting for Darren to get home in next half hour so i can go and get checked Hopefully wont be a long one today.
lisa

muppetgirl · 13/09/2007 17:02

Good luck Lisa x

nellieloula · 13/09/2007 17:26

yeah good luck Lisa. HOpe it all goes ok.

Alice, you are absolutely within your rights to ask who is going to be performing major surgery in advance! I definitely want to know who'll be doing mine, and seeing them a few hours before for the first time is a bit rubbish I think. Stick to your guns, call them again and ask when exactly the rota is published, and anyway, don't most surgeons have regular theatre days?? They seem to at my hospital. In which case, illness and annual leave aside, they would have a good idea already given you have a scheduled date.... you go for it girl

hope everyone else is ok - we've had a better afternoon; managed to get out of the house and actually feel better for it (always the way isn't it)

how was the lemon drizzle cake mrsfish? is that recipe a mild lemon one or a really zingy one??

and thanks for the hugs j20 - really appreciated them

WinnieThePooh · 13/09/2007 17:38

Just called midwife as the paracetemol I took at 4pm is not touching the backache.

She has told me to call the delivery suite, as it sounds like things are starting to move.

Will wait until DP is home in about 30 minutes.

Will text those whose numbers I have of any developments if needed.

FloriaTosca · 13/09/2007 17:43

Hi you chatty lot!
Not going to comment on individuals but sorry for those in pain, insomiacs and frustrated by hospitals.

Had a text from Buffy this morning, she has been in pain and getting contractions all night and was getting her Dh to take her in to be checked over after dropping kids off at school, she had a feeling theis might be "it"!...not heard from her since so hoping no news is good news.

Personally; well I got a phone call from the diabetic nurse yesterday while I was teaching telling me that after the high bp check, the blood test results from tuesday were not perfect..something should have had a top line of 0.39 and my was 0.40..so would I go in and have my BP checked again..I was fully booked for the afternoons teaching so went in after finishing work at 8pm..got there for 9pm and I've just got home now! Basically my BP was 160/110, there was protien in my urine and they were frightened I was going to start fitting:..I'd taken no overnight things, left no provision for the dog, Dh was in Italy, ...fortunately my Mum came to the rescue (at midnight) and went to stay at my house with the dog and phone todays pupils to cancel them..I was finally found a bed, gown and toothbrush at 2am, by which time the pill they had given me had brought my bp down to 115/67 and they checked my bp every 2 hours (I could have joined the insomniacs club if I'd had the computer there!)Without pills my diastolic has stayed just under 90 all day and there is not protien in my urine today so they have let me go, but are sending the local mws to check up on me over the weekend (bang goes my hen weekend in York!)
My consultant wants to know if I'm trying to get a medal for accumulating all the known complications of pregnancy and thinks that when I see him on Monday we will be discussing bringing induction forward from 39 wks to 38wks (I'm going to be 37 wks tomorrow, so not long then!)
Moral of the story is; DH has now cancelled all trips away until LO is here and I'm not going near that hospital without an overnight bag and at least a couple of novels and a puzzle book ever again!
Going to get a nap now and catch up on my missing sleep...probably catch up with you all tomorrow unless I get some news from Buffy.

PS apart from being a little monkey who refuses to sit still under a monitor for more than 40 seconds (ha! ha! to the ppor nurses trying their utmost to get just a 10 min trace but had to give up after 40 mins!...they finally got one this morning when he/she was too tired to play catch me if you can or kick it off) LO is absolutely fine.

alicet · 13/09/2007 17:44

Good luck Lisa and Winnie x

Lisa - I've emailed you the guidelines you wanted...

Thanks everyone else for your support - didn't think I was being too precious either! Nellie I would have expected them to have regular theatre days too (or at least know the rota more than a few days in advance - I have to give at least 6 weeks notice of any leave so things can be adjusted!). but apparently not!

Think what I will do is write a letter to my consultant explaining how I feel - he was great when I saw him before so think this is probably the best way to make sure I am happy with everything. I don't think I deserve better treatment because I am a doc but usually people put themselves out for other nhs employees because you don't get any other perks working in the nhs!! Prefer not to pull this one normally but sod it if it gets me where I want I'll use whatever I can!

Can't remember what everyone else said so hope I haven't missed anyone out - hope you're all doing ok x

FloriaTosca · 13/09/2007 17:44

Crikey just read xposts...good luck Lisa and Winnie!

WinnieThePooh · 13/09/2007 17:52

Can you please check my birth plan.

Just coppied J2O's and amended it to suit me.

Birth partner
my fiancé Richard

Pain Management
I would like to try and avoid an epidural if possible and manage the pain just with gas and air and in the birthing pool.

Labour
I would like to labour in the birthing pool if possible, it not I would like to be as active as possible rather than immobile on the bed.

Caesarean
Unless absolutely necessary, I would like to avoid a Caesarean.

Episiotomy
I don?t mind having an episiotomy if medical reasons dictate.

Delivery
I would like to deliver in the pool if possible and avoid other intervention unless absolutely necessary. I would like to hold my baby as soon as it is delivered.

Immediately After Delivery
My fiancé does not want to cut the cord
I would like to hold the baby while I deliver the placenta and any tissue repairs are made if possible, although I may change my mind about this immediately after the birth and my fiance will hold her.

Breastfeeding
I plan to breastfeed and would like to begin nursing very shortly after birth.

Other
If I am unable to make decisions for myself my fiancé will make decisions for me. He is very aware of my wishes.

This birth plan is not exhaustive and while I hope it can be kept to during the labour and birth I understand that this is not always possible.

alicet · 13/09/2007 18:19

Winnie - your birth plan looks great. very clear. Good luck!

Floria - pass on my best wishes to buffy. Hope she's OK. Glad to hear your lo is OK too despite everything that is going on with you. Hope all is well over the next few days for you - will be thinking of you hon! As you and buffy might well be now delivering at a very similar time and not able to update everyone give me a shout if you like and I will mail you my mobile number - I can then keep everyone updated on you and buffy. Here's hoping my lo is staying put until 2nd Oct!!! You can get me on alicetownend at doctors dot org dot uk.

ChocolateHobnob · 13/09/2007 18:50

Hi all

Buffy - hope you're doing okay. Winnie - good luck! Hope this is it! and the birth plan sounds great.

Lisa, it really sounds like you're having a tough time. I hope you're getting a sense of what's happening/getting a CS sorted if that's what you want, which it sounds like it is. Take care.

Floria - poor you with the overnight stay, horrible. But it sounds like lo is coming sooner rather than later!! Fab. Shame about the hen weekend but let's face it a sober hen weekend mightnt have been the best occasion anyway, if everyone else is having a drink!

Muppet, I soooo know what you mean about trousers. All my maternity trousers fall down! It's somewhat embarrassing. The over the bump ones are the only ones that dont.

J20, how are you?

Alice, Nellie, Apricott, Jersey, Unicorn, hello. Inzi - you've gone quiet - are you okay?

I had an okay day despite crap night's sleep and have bought dinner from M and S. I used to really wonder which sad people did this, and now I know (me!).

Hugs to all!

jersey · 13/09/2007 18:55

Hi Winnie has texted me that she is in the bath hoping it will help her back pain, whilst DH took DD out.

DS2 up most of last night with tummy ache, and at school with DS1 today, the last one where I have to go with him. Tried self inducement night before last but although a few cramps nothing else so far. Knackered again today but thats not new. DH thinks I'm nesting but don't think so just fed up with the mess and no one else is doing anything else about it.

Now so long as someone is around to take DS1 to school next week.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 19:14

choc-i'm ok thank you for asking

jersey-what did you do to try inducement?!!

winnie, buffy, Lisa-hope your all ok, keep us updated.

FT-what a nightmare!! get some rest

nellie-how you feeling?

hi Alice and everyone else.

i've had an ok day, been sorting a picture trail out to try and get rid of some stuff, please look at the maternity stuff, and let me know if you want anything!
also been to Asda and spent a fortune, but got plenty of loo roll so we're stocked up seem to have a bit of energy today, after getting over knackardness this morning.

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 19:46

Nellie - the LDC is lush, made a really zingy one, I just love anything lemony

Floria - what an eventful evening, hope you get sorted soon.

Lisa - Hope tonight goes ok.

Winnie - hope your backache stops soon, or you go into labour, one way or the other

J20 - glad you have felt better this afternoon.

Well I have had a lovely day, although I have been busy and been home all day, just the fact I haven't had a whiny noisy two year old hanging around all day has been bliss. I did some shopping first thing for my baking, managed 3 loads of washing/drying and ironing. Cleaned the kitchen, shined my granite - thanks for the link to the wonder stuff from Lakeland Dal Done some baking, and done some work on the computer for someone too (a bit of pocket money coming my way next month ) so a successful day, and whats more I don't feel totally knackered which is unusual.

I'm hoping for a decent nights sleep tonight i.e no emotional dreams, hope my fellow insomniacs have a good sleep too

HonorMatopoeia · 13/09/2007 20:05

Evening ladies,
Sorry for the swift post but have had a hugely busy day (At one point I think I bought out mothercare!) and have stinking headache and am knackered.
Lisa, Winnie and FT (I really hope I've got that right, sorry if I haven't) hope you're all ok and if things have started...good luck!
Dd slept incredibly well last night after following the new hv guidelines . She woke once but I managed to get her to sleep back in her own bed, how much do you reckon this was a fluke?!
Everyone else, I hope you're well. Sorry to read about the insomniacs club. As someone said..it's not long now. Hold on in there little piggys
x

I called my midwife at 6pm as back ache not touched by parcetemol I took at 4pm. She said to call the delivery suite as it sounsds like things are on the move.

Not called them yet. DP got home shortly after I phoned the midwife and I went for a bath while he and DD went to the chippy for their dinner.

Back ache still there but not as bad and LO is having a good wriggle about.

I am going to try and et some sleep now, but will call the hospital if it gets bad again later.

Thanks to Jersey for posting earlier

alicet · 13/09/2007 20:23

Well ladies I am SHATTERED. have read all your posts since my last one at least twice and still can't retain the information. Probably will go to bed in about 1 minute's time! Sorry if I have missed anything relevant. But big hugs to all of you and hope to not see any of you here at antisocial o'clock - both because that hopefully means I am asleep but also because I wouldn't wish it on any of you either!

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/09/2007 20:39
