Hi everyone, wow that was a quick delivery. Walked DS1 to school in morning with cramps every half an hour but not what I would call contractions. Rang DH an hour later saying every 10 mins, he set off home within an hour jumped to every five mins and by the time he got home I was every 2 mins. Hospital said if he didn't get home in next few minutes to call an ambulance. Got to hospital at every 1 minute (11:30) and delivered at 1:48pm. On my notes they class labour as from every 2 mins so labour was 2 hours and 54 mins. No pain relief as it turned out the gas and air I had been hanging on to hadn't been working . Had to stay in over night as the waters where green, but he seems to be ok and not swallowed/inhaled anything. Couple of stitches and bad after pains, which I haven't had before. Came home 11:30 am on 27th as needed the beds.

Just one question, I'm not breast feeding this time but my milk came in last night and my boobs are really painful!!!! Will this just go away on its own?

WinnieThePooh · 29/09/2007 20:53

Evening Everyone.

How are you all tonight?

I am feeling much better today. I think last night was just LO telling me not to eat so late. I took DD to football his morning and then we all went to the local fire staion open day. I lay down when we got home and ended up falling asleep for an hour or so until DD came to find me about 3.30pm.

Did not feel like cooking tonight so sent DP and DD up to the chippy.

I have got a bit of back ache, and some tightening across my bump, but nothing too painful atm. With DD my waters went at 2.50am, I called the hospital and they told me to go in. I had an epidural not long after I got there, so not sure what proper contractions feel like. She was born at 3.50pm after about 3 hours of pushing.

DP is working on MOnday, but is then off for the rest of October, so I won't be on much during the day when he is at home. Not sure what we are going to do, but will make the most of the time before this LO arrives, we may even try to bring her on early .

Don't worry about me if you don't see me on here quite so much, I will keep in touch via those whose numbers I have.

MrsFish · 29/09/2007 21:08

Congratulations Jersey so what's his name/weight etc

ess · 29/09/2007 21:44

Good evening and congratulations Jersey. I've had a very restless day. Had a nap this afternoon and woke up with an awful pain only down my left side and from by tummy button across to waist-felt like a big stitch. It lasted about an hour and I couldn't walk at one stage.
After a bath tonight it's eased right off but still got a bit of backache and tight across bottom of bump.
Suddenley feel that this is really happening although it probably won't amount to anything. Think I'm going to try your method tonight WTP.
Have a restful night everyone.

alicet · 29/09/2007 21:54

Hi Jersey! Sorry don?t know about how to cope with painful breasts when not bf. I think it does go away on its own eventually but don?t know how long it takes. I thought there was something you could take to help ? maybe ask your mw?

Winnie ? glad you feel better.

Ess ? sorry to hear you?re having pains? Hope they either settle or amount to something!

Ejt - fingers crossed your acupuncture does the trick - you're due on tues I think too aren't you? Let us know how muppet is if you hear back....

My dad has arrived tonight which is great. Not sure what we?re up to tomorrow apart from taking ds to soft play in the am. Will be off and on though?

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 21:55

congratulations Jersey

same questions-name, weight..etc? i think it takes about a week for your breasts to settle down properly

well, everyone seems to be having aches and pains lately, wonder who'll be the next! i've had a few uncomfortable tightenings, but thats it.

i feel shattered but restless, might do some of my jigsaw before bed, night all

alicet · 29/09/2007 21:57

Meant to say congratulations Jersey by the way!!!! And that mump has started a postnatal Oct thread....

lisad123 · 29/09/2007 22:17

FloriaTosca · 29/09/2007 23:12

Hi All
Congratulations Jersey and Kezza on the birht of your little ones

Sorry not to have been able to get word to you and to have some of you worried (thank you for keeping me in your thoughts)but they moved me to a hosp room with a broken patient line handset so I couldn't access the internet. I did text buffy but she is wrapped up with Scarlett..I remember her reply being something about starting to give her water to see how she reacted but my mobile (pretty ancient one) gave up the ghost so I've been out of reach until today as they only released me last night and we have been inundated with visitors today..well I suppose I aught to tell you....

ITS A BOY! Alexander Neil finally arrived on Wednesday 26th at 07:23 weighing 7lb 13oz ...
the icing on the the cake is that after all our heartache about whether or not to test (with odds of 1:3) he does NOT have Downs Syndrome...in fact apart from a touch of jaundice he is incredibly healthy and we are incredibly lucky...he sleeps well, breast feeds well and I cant stop crying with pure joy at our good fortune and the depth of my love for him.

The nitty gritty if you want to know it is that the examined me at 3pm on Tues and gave me a less than 50:50 chance of induction working as I hadnt progressed from the previous Wednesdays 1 cm dilated, 1 cm for cervix to drop and his head was not engaged...but I wanted to try anyway and was given the 1st pessary which over 6 hours softened the cervix enough for them to break my waters at 9pm, this brought the contractions on thick and fast but not effective enough to bring his head down much further so I had an epidural at 10pm before they set up the drip...the epi was great, we had a comfortable 5 hours as he dropped down and I got fully dilated and then 2 hours of hell because they wont top up the epidural during the active stage because "you wont know when to push"...I finally only got the energy for the final effort because I was threatened with foreceps...it turned out that Alex had had his hand trapped by the side of his head all through labour (the fingernail holes in the side of his head are still healing now)which is why I had some difficulty and also why I tore quite badly...but he was worth every second of it all. Apparently from a medical stand point the only bad bit was when my blood pressure went up to 193/125! But I was totally unaware of it and just swallowed the pills I was told to take and everything else was fine.

Well I had better go to bed and try to catch up with some sleep (I have been tending to lie in bed watching him by night light rather than actually sleeping properly myself and letting these stitches heal!)So I'll say good night and thank you to those who have been keeping me in their thoughts

muppetgirl · 30/09/2007 08:57

Hi all!

Floria - CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so over the moon for you and dh.

Disappeared for a while due to tiredness, kitchen fitters and tricky three year olds!

Me- I'm still stupidly tired and very puffy so much that we were over at friends last night and I asked my friends hubby to cut my wedding ring off as it was hurting. I couldn't even straighten my fingers yesterday morning and after spending the morning at my neighbours house where she made me put my finger in ice cold water and then using fairy liquid to try to ease it - but nothing! (Finger bloody hurt though!) Am going to ring mw on mon as I'm a little concerened as i still seem to be getting more puffy rather than settling like the stay puff woman!

Kitchen -Looks fab, units are now in and floor is to be done this tues coming. They are going to level the floor so I'm not sure how that's going to work with the 2 dogs as they're doing the hall also. How will I get upstairs?? The worktop man came last fri and cut the templates so we'll get those in 2 weeks so we have hardboard over the cabintes so we can at least use the kitchen. Sink but no taps -no water, is still a bit of a pain though. We're still fighting about the colour but I think we've at least settled on green

3 year old - Still being a bit difficult. We're trying to cut down on telly (wish us luck!) as all he says when we're out is 'I want to go home and watch telly' which is driving us all mad to say the least.

My brother and his girlie left on Thur and I won't see them till next july which is very sad but it was lovely to have them.

How is Mrs Fish?
Anymore babies yet?
Speak later
x

MrsFish · 30/09/2007 09:05

Huge Congratulations Floria - I am so very pleased for you, I have tears in my eyes

Well my due date is here, and no other signs of anything happening, even though I had another curry and we tested the bed springs last night . I have a mw appt on thursday if nothing has happened by then, and she will do a membrane sweep. Going to attempt a decent walk to the pub for lunch to see if that helps, its 3 miles round trip so if that doesn't push the lo down I don't know what will

Hope everyone has a good day

MrsFish · 30/09/2007 09:07

Cross posted Muppetgirl Glad to see you are still with us though, and I hope that kitchen gets sorted soon

Katsh · 30/09/2007 09:11

Congratulations Jersey. Glad that all went well.
Floria I am so delighted to hear your great news. I can quite understand you not wanting to sleep and just gazing all the time! Hope you do start sleeping just a bit though .
Hope everyone else is ok.

ChocolateHobnob · 30/09/2007 09:13

CONGRATULATIONS FLORIA!!! I'm so happy for you. I'd been wondering and worried. I love the name Alexander - I know three little boys with that name now and they're all unbelievably cute!!!

Hi Muppet, good to hear from you too. Sorry about the puffiness - hope the mw can help/give you something/reassure you. And I'm sure the tricky 3 year old is playing up because he senses that change is afoot; I hope it gets better.

Inzi, sorry you've been having pains too.

And Alicet - only 48 hours to go!

It's Mrs Fish's due day today, isn't it? Any sign of lo, Mrs F? She has gone quiet...

Hello Jersey, glad you're well, and Lisa, and everyone else... Winnie, any action? and Unicorn, how are you? and Ejt?

I had a hectic day yesterday - another 6 hour NCT class. I am not cut out for these marathon sessions. I start wanting to growl instead of share my feelings. Anyway after that we had friends round for dinner, so as soon as we got home I was baking brownies and preparing curry and raita. It was really nice, and we had a good evening. Lo partied through the night again, meaning I tossed and turned and grumped. Lo does seem to be a bit of a night owl - doesn't bode well!

Quieter day today - another meander round baby shops I think, if we can get past the Great North Run traffic to get to Mamas and Papas and Mothercare. I really need to start buying stuff for my hospital bag too!

Have a good Sunday and Mrs F - where are you?

ChocolateHobnob · 30/09/2007 09:14

Hi Mrs F,

cross-posted - I was sure you'd gone into labour! Boo that you haven't yet. Still the walk might well do it. Ooh - I could fancy a pub lunch now you've mentioned it!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/09/2007 09:15

congrats jersey - all sounds very civilised, a nice quick daytime labour! i only bf for 48 hours second time round and my boobs were agony from about day 3 to day 6 then just gradually stopped hurting. i just wore a really supportive bra!
