Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mine · 29/09/2007 08:40

me too Mrs Fish!
I had intense period like back pain last night and felt very queasy..... as this is my first pregnancy, i have read so much on early symptoms (these being one of them) that i felt panic and excitement at the same time.....sadly it passed in 20mins! I guess in my inexperience, i got it wrong.

Is this normal??
Is it really a sign that labour is days not weeks away..??

I've getting really frustrated with wait now, although i have 2 weeks until i'm actually due.

MrsFish · 29/09/2007 09:05

Good morning Mine... I had absolutely no warning when I had ds 1, he was 4 days overdue, I had got up in the night at 3am to go to the loo, had just got back in bed and my waters went, had first contraction (well period like pain) at 3.10am, second more painful episode at 3.15am, then full blown contractions every 5-7 mins after that. Got to the hospital at 3.45am and I was 4cm dilated. Had him at 8.03 am

alicet · 29/09/2007 09:27

Sorry you had a rubbish night?s sleep too ess. Should have come chatted to me!

No warning with me last time mine ? waters went at 4.50am and then went to hospital to get checked. Contractions didn?t start for a couple of hours (felt like intense period cramps). Back in at 11am, 5cm, born at 3.50 by emergency section for fetal distress (after monitoring and changing decisions since we arrived).

This time I?m having an elective section on tues ? don?t want it all to kick off before then but if it does will wait and see!

Off swimming now with ds - see you later x

orangecat · 29/09/2007 09:27

Hi All

Nearly logged on at 4am too (DD woke up thinking it was morning and I couldn't go back to sleep). But then the darling slept in until 8.30am. Bliss (aside from the 1.5 hours awake at 4). Keep on panicing about those damn logistics!

Mrs F - hopefully this is a sign of something to come, v soon?

Not doing much today - off to MIL house this pm, then early dinner for SIL birthday. See y'all later xxx

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 10:43

hi everyone

well, a lot of you where awake last night! i wasn't too bad, when i get up to go to the loo now, its kind of automatic most of the time and i hardly wake up. saying that, dd came in my bed at stupid o clock, she'd had a bad dream.

mine-this is my 2nd one and i've still no idea as i was induced with dd, if i think anything is about to happen i get excited, then scared, am actually shi**ing myself, it was awful when i had dd and i don't know how i'm going to cope this time. also, i was laid thinking this morning, whatever possessed me to think i wanted another baby when dd is so independent now? just don't know if i'm going to manage, but i suppose its a bit late now!

alice-can't believe you'll be having LO on Tue!! how you feeling about it?

well, i've got dd tonight as her df is away at work, so we're thinking of making a cola chocolate cake-don't suppose anyone knows if it says use cocoa powder, can you use hot choc mixture??

MrsFish · 29/09/2007 10:47

You could use hot choc mix, but the cake won't taste very chocolatey

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 10:48

what about pieces of melted choc?

MrsFish · 29/09/2007 10:53

Yeah, that will work, make all the rest of your mix first, then add the melted chocolate last and stir well, you might need to add a little extra flour though so the mixture isn't too wet, but do this last aswell and see what you think

Mine · 29/09/2007 10:54

thanks for the reassurance folks... although it sounds like most labours start in the middle of the night!!

Thats no problem as I'm awake most of the night anyway... might have to invest in matteress cover for my new lovely duvet!!

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 10:55

oh bugger, going to have to go out and get flour anyway.

bit of a sensitive question, and don't want to upset anyone, but is anyone having irrational(maybe) fears that when lo is born, its going to have something wrong with it?

i'm still smoking and terrified that she's going to be born not breathing, my own fault for not stopping, but i can't change it now.

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 10:56

thanks mrsF

mine, i've got a mattress cover and it really makes me sweat, maybe a large towel underneath the sheet may be better?

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 10:59

btw am bidding on this

postage is £8, how far do you think i should go? my step dad gave me £40 for a car seat last night

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 11:00

as in how high?

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 11:15

ooo also, has anyone heard from muppetgirl? she's not been on for a while.

MrsFish · 29/09/2007 11:27

J20 - I am, scared shitless there will be something wrong, not sure how I would cope. Regarding the smoking, I'll not lie and say I agree with the smoking, but my mum smoked all the way through with me, and I turned out alright

ess · 29/09/2007 11:41

J20- I'm the same I'm afraid. Have cut right down- tried patches, inhaler etc but couldn't knock last few on head. I had bad PND with DD1 and only came off the Prozac when I found out I was pregnant. Stopping completely would've sent me a bit doolally I think. MWives etc know so just got to keep fingers xd alls ok. Try not to feel bad about it. I'm sure if something was majorly wrong it would have been picked up by now.

alicet · 29/09/2007 12:10

J20 ? its really funny this time knowing when he?s going to arrive (unless he comes before then obviously?). Last time ds was 8 days early so we hadn?t got to the point of thinking too much about it and expecting it to happen. All really strange this time! Excited more than anything now but a bit nervous as well. Ds was such a terrible sleeper that I?m not looking forward to more of the same. Still at least this time I know it gets better relatively quickly?.
And yes ? really worried that there will be something wrong too. Not thinking about it too much but just won?t be reassured on that until I see he is OK I guess.

Re that car seat ? make sure you do web search to check how cheap you can get it ? I often find the rrp they quote is higher than I can find elsewhere? Otherwise depends how much you want it and how much you have to spend I guess. If its new then even if it is close to the rrp you?ve not lost anything! Have you used auctionsniper before to put a bid in at the last minute? Can send you link if you like?

OK so this has been a big post to J20!!!! Hello everyone else ? hope you all have a lovely weekend?.

Hi All

So glad your LO is ok Inzi - you had us all worried.

J20 - try not to worry too much - you'll cope fine once the baby gets here and DD will be a help I'm sure - I know what you mean about thinking you're mad to start all over again - I've been through the same thought processes - but there's no point thinking it now - we just have to get on with it and it's gonna be great, I'm sure. As to something being wrong - every pregnant woman has those worries. I just try to banish them when they crop up on the basis there's no point worrying about something like that til it actually happens.

I've been worrying about Muppet and Floria too - hope they're both ok, and just too busy with RL, I dunno, maybe having babies or something to come on here!

My bump is so low now when I sit down it feels like baby is sitting on my knee !

Sure there was something else I was going to say, but can't remember what it was ... big hellos and waves and hugs to everyone, we all deserve them right now!!

A x

J2OBABY · 29/09/2007 12:57

thanks all for your replies about the various things

mrsF-i don't agree with it either and hate myself for doing it, which makes me crave them even more! although i did smoke with dd, but not as much as i have with this one.

inzi-what the betting your lo comes before mine, when Ejt buddied us up as we are quite far apart! sorry to hear you had a bad night, try and rest today, just in case.

alice-i spent hours looking at car seats last night, so much so that i got myself confused! will see how the auction goes, wanted a pink one really

well, Asda didn't have no cocoa powder! so i'm going to have to try it with melted chocolate. oh and i've got my mum coming round soon, she's left her partner for her ex again i could throttle her sometimes, she annoys me so much! its like having an extra child, but she doesn't do as she's told!

see you all later

Apricott · 29/09/2007 13:32

ejt - just looked at your profile - that quilt is gorgeous! You're very clever.

You don't look at bit like my mental image of you ! You said you had strange, frizzy hair and you don't at all!!

Looking forward to getting together once we've been through this birth business and can move again.

Right, I'm off to see what's up in RL.

alicet · 29/09/2007 17:36

Inzi ? sorry to hear you had such an uncomfortable night only for it to end in nothing! I guess that?s probably a good thing though as lo still 4 weeks early?

I?ve been worried about muppet too ? last time she was on she had been struggling emotionally a bit. Don?t know who her text buddy is though? Floria?s text buddy is buffy so its not that surprising we haven?t heard from either of them with what has been happening with scarlette I guess? If either of you log on we?re thinking of you!!!

Hello to Apricott, MrsF, J20 and everyone else?.

We?ve had fun today ? took ds swimming and then just been to the park and for coffee. I had some sleep as well when ds did so feeling a bit better after my rubbish night?

Wonder who will be next? Feels like after a lot of activity things have calmed down a little?. Still I?m bound to go into labour tomorrow am when the great north run is starting and blocking my route to the hospital!!!!

Katsh · 29/09/2007 17:41

G'day all. Alice - I assume that your lo has been more active for the rest of the day, since your post this am? Mine had a quiet day yesterday and I was on the verge of going in to hospital last night. I was up eating, and drinking icy water and gave the bub a 4am deadline to move. At 3.59am lo started so we didn't go. I was a little concerned again this morning, but I've been in bed and there have been lots of movements. I'm guessing space is pretty restricted, and tbh when I'm busy I'm not very aware of the movements.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend. My dh, dd's and dog have all been out since 1pm. It's been great!

ejt1764 · 29/09/2007 19:36

very quickly, muppetgirl's text buddies are dal, LES and LisaD ... all of whom have other things going on.

I'll email and text her myself now to see how she's doing.

Have been given a stronger nudge by the acupuncturist again this morning - I now have bruises on my hands, feet and back where she plugged me into the mains (not quite, but nearly) ... no more news as yet though!

love to everybody!

alicet · 29/09/2007 19:36

He has been moving normal for the daytime. Thought I would wait to see if he moves more when I go to bed tonight as thats when he really wriggles and last night he could have been sleepy after my wine with dinner!

Glad your lo wriggled just before your deadline katsch! Isn't that always the way!
