OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
unicorn · 24/09/2007 00:01

Hi, and welcome ess...
my sleep patterns have completely gone haywire so am very thankful for MN.
brave of you to join this thread... you'll probably be popping in a day or two- it seems contagious!

Hi Floria, love the idea of seducing hubby in hospital, and cleaning the floor lol. You must be really fed up now,try and rest tho it's really not long.

Ive been very emotional today. My DD who's 8, is a hmmmm... challenging child, and was behaving really badly today.
I told her how upset I was (after spending the day shouting at her and attempting some sort of punishment that didn't work)am hoping my upset will affect her more than my anger iyswim.

I guess I'm a bit wound up too as have to see Doctor on Tuesday about the growth scan, and that's causing me to be more edgy than I should be.

Ho hum...

Hope everyone else is sleeping well.

unicorn · 24/09/2007 00:04

oh forgot to say saw photo and he is a lovely little boy alicet!

ess · 24/09/2007 00:08

Hi unicorn, sorry you can't sleep too. Hope all goes well for you with your scan. What a worry for you. Love you using the word "challenging" when you really want to say "vile" sometimes. My DD has an attitude like you wouldn't believe sometimes!

Mine · 24/09/2007 05:52

Hi there

I'm also due in Oct.. the 18th to be exact, with my first but i certainly feel as though i can pop at any moment... i'm huge.

Is anyone else getting impatient with the wait...i just feel like the baby is never going to come. Although i've had an easy and good pregnancy, i'm really fed up now.

Maybe its just the lack of sleep now making me anxious and weepy!! I might need to console myself with a bowl or cornflakes........ lol !!

betsycoe · 24/09/2007 05:54

Hi all,
I just wanted to say congratulations to everyone on this thread who's 'October' babies have arrived early.

I joined this thread ages ago but completely lost track due to my pregnancy brain!

My gorgeous DD arrive 10 days early on the 21st of September. She was born in a pool in our spare bed room to the sounds of Nina Simone (oh and more than a few shouts from me ).

Good luck to those still waiting for their little bundles!

ChocolateHobnob · 24/09/2007 06:39

Congratulations Betsycoe! What a lovely sounding birth. What is your DD's name?

Welcome to the other newbies too. Yes, indeed, this thread seems to bring on early labour! Funny, really.

Interesting to guess who's going to go next...

Floria, what a bummer about not even escaping for an hour - but Tuesday is soooo soon! Looking forward to hearing the exciting news of your lo!

Unicorn, good luck with the growth scan. I'm not surprised it's stressing you out. At least it's soon so the wait won't be too long. And it sounds like you know how to handle your daughter!

Alice, he is soo cute; it's so obvious why he'd seduce anyone in a restaurant. Scary to imagine him doing the same in 16 years time!

Inzi, I might just try this bath-feast thing!

Inlaws were fine this time, can't really complain. Yet another set of crap nights' sleep though - can't believe my body can't store up some sleeptime before lo comes! It's a design fault!

The weather is abysmal here, chucking it down, the kind of weather where you want to hibernate, not venture to work. Bah humbug!
Have a good day, all.

muppetgirl · 24/09/2007 08:09

HI all,

Another baby!! Congratts betsycoe, you sound kike you had a beautiful birth...

MrsFish · 24/09/2007 08:23

Morning all

Welcome to those that have popped in again, and congratulations on little ones

I had an ok sleep, woke up about 4-5 times again but that is about the norn atm. My neck feels a bit better today, so not sure whether to bother seeing the chiropractor?

The weather here is horrendous, but it is supposed to be getting better later

missbumpy · 24/09/2007 08:30

Muppetgirl, I think I had put on about that much weight around the 25 week mark so I wouldn't worry about it! I haven't dared get back on scales since but it wouldn't surprise me if I'd gained another stone since then!

Weirdly I don't feel very fat though....which makes me wonder if my baby's a whopper !

j20baby · 24/09/2007 10:01

Hi all

Alice-he is so cute!

FT-wow, tomorrow you?ll be having lo! hope you?re ok? hope it all goes well, can't wait to hear your good news!

ES-hi and welcome. you do realise that joining this thread probably means you?ll give birth before the end of Sep!

Unicorn-I have 7 yo dd, so I know how horrible they can be, try not to worry too much and rest as much as you can

Mine-hi and welcome to you too, I think we?re all getting pretty fed up now, playing the waiting game!

Betsy congratulations what have you called her?

Mrsf-you sound a bit better today, would still see the chiropractor though, it may get worse again.

well i rung mw this morning and she said unless i'm soaking a maternity pad, then not to worry, everyone start losing a bit of water near the end will see how it goes, its horrible weather here today and i feel quite sick, have'nt got no plans, may just go to sleep!

ejt1764 · 24/09/2007 10:05

Well, another monster Monday post from me ?

We have been busy this weekend!! I finally finished the headboard last night ? hurray!

CONGRATULATIONS MUMPBUMP!

Alicet ? am very of you organising yourself to do cooking ? my goal for today is to tidy out my study ? the piano has been moved from the baby?s room into our bedroom ? to the wall adjoining ds?s room ? which means I can?t play it after he?s gone to bed ? it?s coming into the study ? but only when I?ve made space ? and this room is a tip!!

Your ds sounds absolutely gorgeous ? in fact, having looked at his pic, he is gorgeous!! Must get around to doing my profile!

Muppetgirl ? second you on the NCT sales ? you do just have to grab things that look promising ? and examine them later on to make sure that you actually want them ? I?m selling some of ds?s old clothes at our local equivalent on Saturday ? have spent several hours over the weekend sorting them out and pricing them up!

As for the weight ? I weighed myself last week ? and I have now put on 3 stones and 5lbs ? ? but various midwives keep telling me I?ve been ?sensible? with my weight gain ? it?s all on the tops of my arms, and around my bum and thighs ? apparently it?s my body storing fat for breastfeeding!

Missbumpy ? this lo has been engaged now since she flipped from breech ? 3 weeks ago ? definitely wishful thinking on the coming soon thoughts!

MrsFish ? ouch for your back ? hope it feels better soon! Hope the chiropractor can help you today.
I keep thinking I?m going to be the only one who hasn?t delivered on the October thread too ? and I?m due on the 2nd!!

Nellie ? great to hear that your friends actually know what you need at this stage, and can be a help!

Don?t worry about dh missing the birth ? the ladies with quick births on this thread are the exception to the rule ? (although they seem to be outnumbering the rest of us!!) Your poor dh does sound like he needs a rest though ? hoping he takes some r&r time!

Inzi ? sorry to hear about your dh?s nightmare journey ? a midwife friend of mine reckons that your body won?t let you give birth if there?s what she calls ?unresolved issues? ? mind you, with the list of things I want to get done before this baby comes, I won?t be giving birth until Christmas!! Your toastie sounds lovely!!

Jersey ? this page gives you all the natural inductions methods you could want ? I?m going to start them on Friday if I haven?t gone before then ? I?m having acupuncture on Friday afternoon! (maybe followed by a bit of nipple twiddling, and maybe even sex ? I warned dh about it at the weekend ? he remembered the ?efforts? we had to make last time!!)

Choc ? not going anywhere yet ? just my usual quietness over the weekend ? I find it really hard to come on and post when both ds and dh are home! How did the ILs visit go altogether? Well done on coping / surviving!

J20 ? glad to hear the mw thinks you're ok ... enjoy your sleep!

Floria ? thinking of you stuck in hospital! Hoping that the induction goes well.

Winnie ? hoped you enjoyed Miss Marple!

Ess & Mine ? hiya and welcome to the ?Due in October, but determined to take over September? thread!

Unicorn ? to hear that you?re feeling uptight ? worry about lo can do it to you every time ? and I?m sure that our DCs pick up on in and go for the jugular ? surviving being a mother is like psychological warfare at times!

CONGRATULATIONS BETSYCOE ? sounds like a fantastic birth!

Well, the midwife was supposed to be coming this afternoon, but she?s phoned to put it off ?til tomorrow, which suits me ? I can get my study sorted out now ? so that we can move the piano in here ? - it?s an absolute pigsty at the moment ?

I also want to sort out my photos today ? and finally get around to doing a MN profile!

Right, those are my targets ? I shall update you as I do them!

WinnieThePooh · 24/09/2007 10:29

Morning everyone,

Welcome to the newbies, be warned, although this thread is meat to be DUE IN OCTOBER a few of us seem to be popping early.

Congratulations to Betsycoe.

Although I had an early night last night, I did not sleep particualery well as LO as doing her acrobatics again until past midnight. I was then up at 5.15 as I could not sleep because of the rain.

I need to get my office tidied as it is now our guest bedroom, which my parents will be using in a few weeks time.

Sorry I can't remember what everyone else has said. I hope you all have a good day.

Kittiwake · 24/09/2007 10:34

Congratulations MumpBump and Betsycoe another 2 lovely babies. Amazing delivery Mump. I met someone at the NCT coffee morning last week who's DH had to deliver her baby a few weeks ago because the ambulance and Midwife didn't get there in time, I'm sure these quick deliveries must be the exception though .

Good luck to FT for tomorrow must be a relief after having to stay in hospital to know D-day is coming soon

Had a busy weekend Doing DIY (well mainly supervising DH) and trip to Cardiff Ikea (ugh was too busy and tiring) but did get a nice rocking chair for baby's room.

Mine · 24/09/2007 10:52

Thanks for the welcome ladies.... i finally have found somewhere to talk about my stuff without eyes glazing over... yes, although i tried not to talk about babies and pregnancy to anyone that will listen.. which is not that many people in my circle as they mostly don't have kids as yet... it seems to be my favourite subject at the mo!

I thought maternity leave was supposed to be about watching rubbish TV all day and eating chocolate and crackers until they ran out...... but all i want to do is tidy the house, shop for baby stuff and cook.

I even have my mum coming over this morning to help me with washing my curtains!! My DH would kill me if he saw me!!

x

alicet · 24/09/2007 12:37

Floria ? good luck tomorrow! Or tonight? We?ll be looking forward to hearing your exciting news? Hope your bp stays stable and things get going quickly for you. Enjoy your last day to yourself now ? although I?m sure you?re going stir crazy in hospital try and chill with a book or some music or something.

Ess ? welcome! You are right ? probably joining here will help kick start things for you!

Unicorn ? hope you?re feeling a bit happier today honey and that dd is behaving herself. Good luck for appointment tomorrow?.

Mine ? welcome to you too! I am torn between being impatient for Adam (my lo) to arrive and enjoying the time I have left with just my ds Sam! Terrified at the though of managing with 2!!!!! You?re right too on what maternity leave SHOULD be about but what you are describing is nesting ? apparently happens just before your lo arrives so maybe you will be early too!

Betsycoe ? was just thinking the other day that we hadn?t heard from you for ages? Congratulations on your dd! What did you call her? Hope you?re enjoying your time with her too?

Choc ? sorry to hear you?re still not sleeping (and all the others in the same boat). If its any consolation I found the sleeplessness of pregnancy much much harder to deal with than the sleeplessness that went with Sam?s arrival ? it just seemed so much more pointless somehow. I?m hoping that that will be the case this time too!

J20 ? sorry you?re still feeling rough but glad the mw was reassuring. You enjoy a relaxing day if that?s possible for you!

Ejt ? good luck tidying the study! Is this you nesting? Are you going to be next?!

MrsF ? hope chiropractor works their magic today?

Hello to everyone else!

Thanks for all the lovely comments about ds too! Another proud mummy moment!!!

Well we have had a lovely am. Took ds to soft play with mil ? only it had shut down! Instead went for coffee in town and then took him to John Lewis where he had a lovely time playing on all their ride on toys! Much cheaper than soft play and I?m sure he had just as much fun!!!! He's asleep now so chilling with mil and will hopefully make the park later - it looks like the miserable morning is brightening up.

Here is the updated babies list:

Dal - Ryan
Kiansmum ? Chelsea
Monalisa ? Moran
Buffy - Scarlette
LES ? Zach
Lisa ? Jasmine
Mumpbump ? Joseph
Betsycoe ? dd ?name

progress report ...

have started to attack the study ... wow it was dreadful - you can now see the floor! ... am now about to freecycle all my old catalogues - maybe a school / playgroup will want them!

is this nesting? Goodness knows - but it's a major job on my mental list of things that I want to get done before lo arrives ... bizarre - never experienced nesting with ds ...

anyway, went out and had a lovely lunch with dh too ... glamorgan sausages and salad - yummy!

alicet · 24/09/2007 15:20

Good work ejt! Your lunch sounds much more scrummy than my ham and cheese sarnie too!

Inzi - posted on your other thread. Not sure I was particularly helpful but there we go!

Ds still sleeping - been nearly 3 hours!!!!

nellieloula · 24/09/2007 15:33

Hi everyone - hope you're all having good days; welcome to the new people and congratulations on the new bambinos! it's scary the rate these little ones are coming!

alice you are extremely lucky! DS decided that on the day I am feeling my worst, he would only sleep for 40 mins. always the bloody way isn't it? then we had our play date cancelled. I am in such a bad mood - not sure whether it's just tiredness or major hormonal irritability. I've already snapped at him so many times and it's only half three. He;s now sitting in front of cbeebies which I hought was the best option; just feel knackred and so lacking in energy. want to eat rubbish but back hurts too much to walk to the shop! aaaggghhh!!! why isn't there a chocolate fairy who just knows when to visit?!

sorry for the indulgent rant there. these are just the hardest days aren't they??

hope everyone else is having a better time of it.

alicet · 24/09/2007 17:06

Nellie I know exactly what you mean! He NEVER sleeps for this long when I am trying to sleep at the same time! We are also lucky that we have a costcutter just over the road with all manner of crap food! But you probably didn't need to hear that right now! Still, when I am struggling to settle ds tonight after his mammoth sleep and sugar rush (we've been decorating biscuits this pm which needless to say involved lots of eating!!) I'm sure I will be jealous of you!

MIL has just taken ds out for a walk - unfortunately it was raining when he woke so haven't been to the park as planned. He goes a bit stir crazy if he can't go out though and as we don't have my car this week while its being fixed our options were a bit limited.... Nice to be able to have 5 mins to chill though!

I've finished the study ... dh just came in and said "Wow!"

Ok, now I really hurt ... I've been doing this all day ... thank goodness I have yoga tonight!!

Now, my list consists of:

  • finish baby's quilt
  • do MN profile

uh-oh ... what happens when I get to the end of the list?
