Hi all

Well lots can happen in 2 days! LES - HUGE congratulations, got that name sorted out in the nick of time. And oh, wishing for a quick labout for everybody else too.

Floria, at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. As much as hospital is horrid, you'll get to meet your LO very soon. Do let us know how things go.

Lisa - knew all those contractions you've been having couldn't have been for nothing. Waiting with baited breath for some news soon.

Choc - with everybody else on working hours/mat leave. Went off with 4 weeks to go last time (which, I have to say, was quite frowned upon by work - but hey ho). And was really glad that I did. For rest, and also having time to meet up with/ get to know fellow mums in the area who were off too. This time I left 6 weeks before - bliss. But I really don't think I could have carried on with all these aches and pains. So DO think about leaving sooner than planned.

Buffy - big hugs for you. Sounds really stressful and worrying. It's tough not having them at home (friend had hers 9 weeks early, and found it really tough). But they are resiliant little blighters, so she'll be with you before you know it.

J20/ Mrs F/ WTP - with you wanting the baby to come now. I have 2.5 weeks to go. Apparently it's normal to want the baby to come - guess it helps get us through labour!

Nellie - can't remember your plans for breech. Are you cs or turning or do you still have time?

Much as I want to meet my little one, I am now willing for him to be closer on time. Why is it that when you have a deadline, people let you down??!! We have new carpets that we bought on the basis that they could be fitted in around 2 weeks time. And, of course, 2.5 weeks later the carpets still haven't been delivered, so we're not even close to getting them fitted. And took ages to book the car in to get fixed. When I finally do, it's a 2 week turn around time. Really hoping that the hire car they give me will comfortably fit 2 x carseats in it, otherwise we're stuffed for bringing baby home!!

Inzi - some energy please. I had planned to clean the floors downstairs today, but have spend the morning at the supermarket, then online. Am feeling more like having a little nap than getting on my hands and knees right now...

Oh, and every time I have a midwife or hospital appt there seems to be something else. Nowhere near as awful of some of the stuff you other MN folk have had, but I feel like I'm contstantly adding to the list of problems. No immunity against rubella. Tick. Breech. Tick. Placenta Previa. Tick. Iron deficiency. Tick. What's next I wonder...

alicet · 20/09/2007 13:15

Buffy honey sorry to hear that you and Scarlette have had such a tricky time. Fingers crossed she makes a good recover ? I don?t have any experience myself of operating on children this little but from what I know they are much more resilient than us whingy adults and usually recover very quickly. Thinking of all of you xxxxxx

Choc ? you look after yourself honey! No working too hard today and definitely NO fussing around the pil?s with stuff they can do themselves! Hope the hotel isn?t too noisy for them! And listen to Nellie, winnie, inzi and ejt ? they are very sensible!

J20, Lisa, Floria and everyone else who sound imminent ? Good luck and big hugs!

Unicorn ? good luck for your growth scan tomorrow?.

J20 ? only YOU would call hovering and mopping all the floors a lazy day!!!!! For me its not a lazy day unless I am on my own, wake as late as I like, and then do b*gger all else except things I want! Cleaning would definitely not figure!!

MrsFish ? yep ? nipple stimulation is exactly that!

Muppet ? sorry to hear you?ve been feeling low and emotional. Good though that your psychologist doesn?t think its anything to worry about as I?m sure that?s on your mind. Don?t worry about posting when you feel low though ? we?re all here to support you honey. If you just want to be on your own that?s clearly fine but don?t want you to think we?re not here for you?. Big Hug xxx

Winnie ? hope mw appt goes well ? I always forget the wee sample too plus have usually been just before I leave the house!!!

Greedy I won?t forget you! Hope your lo comes soon?.

Hello to everyone else ? sorry to hear about rubbish sleep etc. Not long now for all of us! Fingers crossed noone goes too far over ? with ds1 I queue jumped from 5 to first in my NCT class and needless to say was NOT Mrs popular for a while! So can?t relate to you but appreciate it must be frustrating. Have to say I?m torn between being totally fed up with being pregnant and therefore wanting Adam to arrive NOW and then being scared sh*tless about how I will cope with 2 and wanting him to stay put! At least I have the advantage of knowing that he WILL arrive on 2nd Oct if not earlier!

muppetgirl · 20/09/2007 13:50

Hi Alicet
I'm a bit like that -how will I cope with 2? I found myself asking a woman I'd literally just met how she used public loos with a 3 year old and a baby I suppose when it comes down to it -you just do!

Katsh - My lo has always measured big by at least 2 weeks so I really count myself as 35 + 3. My 1st ds was 9lb 1oz and 11 days late so I really don't want to go over dates this time as if he's 2 weeks too big already (has been since 20 weeks where he was measuring 4 weeks out on his tummy) by the time I'm 40 weeks I'll have a monster in there!
They are talking of inducing me at 38 weeks which would be fab. Mw did say that she though it could be earlier due to the excess water and the pressure but I'll just wait and see...

Raining here...though I don't mind the cold as it is lovely not to be sweating -anyone else getting hot flushes with braxtons?

I have made 6 blankets for lo and was brave enough to wash one and it didn't fall apart!! Fingers are achy so not doing as much as I was but are really pleased as I wanted to make stuff for Ollie but never got round to it.
I did make a blanket for Ollie but as he pointed out to me the other night 'You didn't make it for me, it was for my toys' Isn't it amazing how they think!!

Can't wait to see my brother as not seen him since last year and won't be over in Canada to see him, his girly and my other brother and his family till next year. Hopefully going out to dinner on sunday night (even have babysitter booked in advance!!) Just hope I can stock up on sleep between now and then so I cn stay awake with the rest of them!

muppetgirl · 20/09/2007 13:55

Btw this is an email my dad sent to me and my brothers today

Ah, Ah, me Hearties,
Tis talk like a Pirate day again. Comes round quicker than the Barmaid at The Pig and Whistle. I hopes yoos all keeping ship shape and Bristol fashion.
"Why do Pirates go to Operas ? . . .
cause they like the high seas. HA, HA.
I've still got it, yea I know and I can keep it.
Bye for know all my love to you all
Dad xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

as my brother said 'is he on drugs?'

sparklygothkat · 20/09/2007 13:55

All all, SGK from the Nov thread again, Lisad123 went in last night whne the contractions started getting closer together, but she was still only 3cms dilated. The baby is back to back. She was taken to the ward last night. Haven't hear anymore since

alicet · 20/09/2007 13:59

Sparklygothket - thanks for keeping us posted!

Muppet - your dad is def on drugs!

Off to get ds up now as sounds like he is doing excercises in his cot! Chat later....

Kittiwake · 20/09/2007 14:16

Hi all

wow everytime I look in on this thread another little one had appeared. Congrats to LES and Good luck to all who are imminent. Are any of these babies going to be born in October!

Hope Scarlett makes a speedy recovery from her Op Buffy and is home with you a soon as possible.

Muppet so impressed with your 6 blankets I love kntting but haven't got round to making anything except a teddy bear so far and am running out of time now you have inspired ne to have a go tonight. MIL is making up for it though as she has a steady production line of booties, blankets, quilts and cardiagans.

I went to a NCT coffee morning today was v. scared as didn't know anyone and don't actually have a baby yet! but everyone was really lovely and very supportive. They don't have NCT classes where I live so this was a good way to meet some people which as a first timer I am really going to need for support.

missbumpy · 20/09/2007 14:27

Hello,

I'm new on this thread. Is it too late to join? I've looked a few times but it's just so long and it changes so quickly it's hard to keep up! I've "met" a few of you on other threads.

I'm due on 15th Oct and I'm in London. Don't know if it's a boy or a girl but everyone tells me it looks like a "boy bump" whatever that means?!

WinnieThePooh · 20/09/2007 14:37

HI SGK, thanks for updating us on Lisa.

Give her our best wishes.

I had fun with friends and their boys enjoyed plying on DD's climbing frame. MW appointment went well. LO is 4/5 engaged so still got a way to go yet. I have another appointment for a 2 weeks time if I have not given birth by then.

I wonder how many of us will hold on until October.

WinnieThePooh · 20/09/2007 14:38

Hi Missbumpy,

Welcome to the October thread.

missbumpy · 20/09/2007 14:56

Thanks

nellieloula · 20/09/2007 15:04

only a very quick one from me - can't keep up with everyone today! Just wanted to say Buffy, you and Scarlette are in my thoughts and prayers - must be extremely hard but babies do seem to recover amazingly quickly from surgery. Hope you're ok.

and hope everyone else is ok too - although all the cleaning, blanket making chat is exhausting me! have a restful afternoon everyone

j20baby · 20/09/2007 15:54

Hi missbumpy

love to Lisa and Buffy and LES.

just a quickie from me, just found out i've got threadworms! had to con the chemist to give me something as you can't take most of the treatments apart from 1 (i did my internet research!) i said it was for dd, but i already had something for her, so she can have that. was reluctant to admit to it, but apparantly it can cause all sorts of problems like vit B12 deficiency, anemia, problems sleeping and discharge and stomach cramps..etc so i thought i should mention it just in case anyone else had these symptoms
i hope all my problems have been through this, because now they should all go!

kat-i think the reason people are wishing lo's come now is because we're all getting so uncomfortable, i for one can't walk very far due to my swollen feet and i can't use my hands because i've got carpal tunnel and it won't go until lo makes an appearance, so i can certainly understand those that have got SPD wanting lo's out!

sorry not to mention everyone by name, going for a bath and my friend coming later so will prob not be on till tommorrow.

hope you're all ok

MrsFish · 20/09/2007 16:14

Ejt - thanks for the link

Welcome to missbumpy

Lisa - hope all is ok with you.

Well, I have been to town, bought two pineapples, raspberry leaf tea, bags and tablets, so have started those, will have a nice soak in the bath later and then its DH's lucky night... he will be pleased lets see if I can get things moving a bit, really don't fancy having to go the membrane sweep and induction route. Hoping this lo will be out before the next mw's appt in two weeks time.

MrsFish · 20/09/2007 16:16

J20 - how do you find something like that out?? In any case hope you get it sorted soon

karlou · 20/09/2007 16:32

Hi all - yet again I'm apologising for not being around for ages. I've had a lot of back ache and so I've found it too uncomfortable to sit in front of the computer.

Many many congratulations to kiansmum, Mona Dal, LES and Buffy. I hope little Scarlette makes a speedy recovery and you can take her home soon.

Fingers crossed we hear some good news from Lisa soon!

Feeling a bit fed up myself. I had the midwife round on Monday to discuss my home birth plans and all was well until she noticed that my dad had a spontaneous pulmonary embolism a few years ago. Despite the fact that I'm not a smoker or overweight this still puts me at risk of a thromboembolism postnatally so she made an appointment for me to see a doctor at the hospital on Wednesday.
Anyway I saw the registrar yesterday and she told me that I will have to inject myself daily for 6 weeks(!!) with an anti-clotting drug AND I have to wear TED stockings for that length of time too. (My DH asked if they came in black!!!)
I used to be a veterinary nurse before having my dd's so I'm fine with needles but I can't say I'm relishing being a pincushion.
I've been feeling odd all day too - had a bit of diarrhoea this morning, I've been getting more frequent, more painful Braxton Hicks and I think I may ave had a bit of a show. I'm feeling really irritable with my kids too! I'm not due till 28th October so I'm hoping it's just late pregnancy symptoms, both my 2 girls were born alomost on time so I'm not expecting to be late and I've had an inkling for weeks that this one will be early....

Anyway sorry for the whinge! Hi to everyone else, hope the insomnia isn't too bad

karlou · 20/09/2007 16:34

Ooops forgot to say hi to missbumpy

Complete pregnancy brain meltdown at the moment. I had a phone call from a friend this morning to say she had a message on her answer phone for me from the mw - I'd given her number instead of mine by mistake!! In my defence they are very similar

sparklygothkat · 20/09/2007 16:41

Lisa was bleeding, so has been kept in at least till tomorrow. Lets hope something happens soon

WinnieThePooh · 20/09/2007 17:10

Hi there. I have received a text from Jersey. She has no internet access at the moment as she is still waiting for BT to fix the line. She has been having lots of cramps and practices, but not the real thing as yet.

unicorn · 20/09/2007 17:21

hi all,

been on monitor in hospital this afternoon after growth scan showed the abdomen and head growth had slowing down.
Not too worried,as movement and trace seemed fine... but my appointments to antenatal/day assessment and scanning unit have all increased now.

Hope Lisa is ok, and everyone else with any problems...keep thinking positive everyone... nearly there!

Hi to Miss Bumpy!

alicet · 20/09/2007 17:31

Kitti ? hope you enjoyed the NCT coffee morning. I have made great friends through them so although its scary worth persisting!

Missbumpy ? of course its not too late! Welcome!

Karlou ? sounds like you?ve been having a rough time. Thinking of you x

Sparklygoth ? fingers crossed all well with Lisa and her lo. Give her a hug from me?x

Well we have had a fun trip to mamas and papas this afternoon to get the bits that broke on ds?s cot ? not sure if I mentioned it earlier or not? Anyway fingers crossed dh will be home in time to fix otherwise he will have another night in the travel cot. Not a major prob if he does though?

Anyway off to play with him and will be back later x

alicet · 20/09/2007 17:33

Unicorn - fingers crossed all well with you too... Sounds like all well but good news they're keeping a close eye on you and lo.

We don't seem to be doing the normal pregnancy thing very well as a group do we?!

j20baby · 20/09/2007 19:00

hi all, another quickie!

mrsf-um, you don't want to know! {{whispers, was checking to make sure i hadn't lost no more plug and also got piles that are bleeding, so am checking when wiping ]}}

alice-i think your right, maybe its all the time we spend sat on our bums on MN when we should be having long walks in the fresh air etc

right am off again

alicet · 20/09/2007 19:02

You could be right there J20!

alicet · 20/09/2007 19:14
