Morning all!

Sorry to hear that things are not going so well for you, Lisa, but hope that the lo is okay...

About to go to bed as I've been up since 2am - the itching is back again with a vengeance... Still getting contractions, but not so frequently so I am guessing that it will be some time yet until bubba appears. Still reckon it will be with an induction on Friday. Anyway, will be back later this afternoon hopefully to see what's been going on...

alicet · 19/09/2007 11:15

Inzi that recipe sounds delicious! I?m a bit of a carnivore but still sounds tasty and I could always stick some parma ham or something on it too! Cool game with lo too ? I love it when they kick out to you and respond when you touch them! Adam hasn?t seemed to do it as much as Sam did though?.

Morning everyone else!

Slightly stressful morning ? Ds woke at 5.50 which is always painful (not great in the morning at the best of times and certainly not before 6.30!) and when I went to get him the cot side wouldn?t go down. SO dh had to come and sort it as I can?t lift him out of the cot now as its too much for my back (and my bump gets in the way!) So we have that to sort out. But then dh started on at me to go and get various things from the DIY shop so he could mend it when he gets home. Not on the face of it an unreasonable request but he knows I have to go to work today to get various things signed off and its really the only chance I have to do this. So I said that I would do my best but couldn?t promise. Cue lots of winging about it only taking 10 mins (er ? yes to GET there, plus finding the stuff plus getting back) and what would we do if cot wasn?t fixed (er ? we have another one AND a travel one!). Just got on top of me a bit. Dh is usually great and more than takes on his share of looking after ds and doing stuff round the house. But lately there have been a few snide remarks about long lie ins and lunches and stuff. And it pisses me off ? As far as I am concerned the most important thing on maternity leave is to get decent rest before this lo arrives. Its not as though I have been doing nothing else either!!! Plus in the last year dh has had lots of days at the weekend to go cycling, he goes to the gym 2 or 3 times a week and I hardly ever have any ?me? time. So I actually don?t feel bad about taking a bit of time now that I can but I resent being made to feel as though I?m being lazy.

Sorry for that rant ? just needed to let it out! Will have a chat to him about it this evening as I need to clear the air. If I don?t then the next time he makes a throw away comment I will be likely to lose my rag.

Anyway better go and do some work now for this pm after going on about all I had to do! Hopefully back on later?.

Inzi great to hear you're feeling so well today! If you have any spare energy I'd love some!

Dh normally is very good so I do feel a bit of a bitch ranting about him. On Saturday he was saying that we needed to make sure I got plenty of rest and look after me more. Just got on top of me today - sure it won't be a big issue. I think one of the problems is he doesn't really like his job and is knackered at the moment as he's not sleeping either (lots on at work and changing jobs soon as well as lo's arrival!) so think he is just jealous of me for having this time. I do point out that being pregnant and looking after a new baby AND a toddler isn't that relaxing and he knows this too but I think he'd really love to do it himself if he could. We have talked about both of us working 4 days a week as opposed to me doing 3 and him 5 but its not really workable in his job. Sure we will be fine though. Too tired for a fight tonight but think talking about it when not cross will be more productive!

And after all that have almost done all I needed to do before going to work so have plenty of time to go to DIY shop!!

nellieloula · 19/09/2007 12:19

hello - alice, annoying as it is, I think most men react like that when the lie ins and me time become a necessity as opposed to the luxury they think they are! Also, I think they don't realise (well certainly none I know)that going to the gym etc is no different than you going for a coffee with a friend - it's just how you choose to spend the time that is different isn 't it? I'm in a smiliar position in that dh is as exhausted as I am (he works a 12/13 hr day with a 2 hr commute each way, sometimes 6 days a week) so who gets the rest is a real bone of contention for us - thankfully, the bigger I get, the more giving he is. It's a tricky one ot get the balance though - it'll be good for you to have a chat.

mrsfish - how are you doing? did you manage to get a rest? those dizzy spells are unnerving aren't they? hope you manage to take it easy today.

hope everyone else is ok? I saw the mw this morning - LO still breech so having another scan in 2 weeks. other than that, all well if not uncomfortable!

alicet · 19/09/2007 13:21

Think you're right nellie. Just need to chat to clear the air with him really so I don't have amassive over reaction if he comments any more.

Also have to leave MN now and go to the diy shop!!! Have been pmsl at this thread for the past 45 minutes - check it out if you have a bit of spare time on your hands - its absolutely hilarious!!! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/5001/388882?addwatch=1

alicet · 19/09/2007 13:23

Nellie meant to say too sorry your lo is still breech - I remember you saying it was much more uncomfortable? Hope you're doing OK.

ejt1764 · 19/09/2007 15:31

Afternoon all ...

alice - you rant away - that's what we're here for!

nellie - sorry to hear that lo is still breech. Have you tried moxa? here for moxa and other tips for turning baby.

inzi - if you have any spare energy, can you lend me some?

I had a lovely day sewing yesterday, but last night I paid the price - I did far too much ... but I now need to baste the quilt top so I can quilt it, but I just cannot get into a comfortable position to tack it! I'll have to see if I can get mym mum to come over and do it - it'll only take about an hour ...

No further developments from me btw - still getting niggly twinges, but I had them for a couple of weeks before Rhydian arrived, so I'm not holding my breath!

Hydro this morning was blissful! Choir tonight - that's bound to get madam squirming ... she kicks like mad when I sing!

Have a good day all ... any news from Floria?

j20baby · 19/09/2007 16:03

hi all
sorry if i worried you,i did log on but consultant came round so had to log off before posting. bp was rubbish yesterday so he said "it looks like we are going to have to induce sooner rather than later, we'll look for a slot for you" but he said that on sat. seems he wanted to get to 38 weeks...fine...why didnt he say so before? I was told to take my heparin so it isnt going to be tomorrow and bp has been stable so mw said they might let me home tomorrow ...i just wish they would make their minds up! but at least im sleeping better [ear plugs and eyemask help] and yesterdays internal set off period type pains for a few hours and i lost some of the plug this morning so perhaps lo will make the decision for them [hopeful emoticon]

buffy txtd me back today, she hasnt been well and nor has scarlett but buffy ishome now and so ill leave her to tell you all the details

buffy;thinking of you both and hoping all is getting better

lisad123 · 19/09/2007 18:20

j20baby · 19/09/2007 18:23

wow!!

FT and Lisa having their babies very soon!!
wonder who will be first!! good luck both of you

Buffy-hope you and Scarlett are ok, let us know x x

ChocolateHobnob · 19/09/2007 19:48

Wow indeed! Good luck Lisa! And Floria. Hope you either get home or have lo as soon as possible!

And hugs to Buffy and little Scarlett; hope you're doing better.

I had a dramatic day! Went to midwife this morning and had faffed about so was late and ended up semi-running there (it's a 10 minute walk) and my blood pressure was high! So got sent off to the hospital to have a bp profile taken. At the hospital they left me for about 90 mins waiting, then they did the profile and my bp was normal at every test. They think it was the over energetic dash to the midwife that did it, but they and the midwife told me I'm working too many hours and not resting enough. I'm working normally (ie get up at 6, go to work just after 7, leave around 6) but it seems that's a bit much for 34 weeks, so they suggested I take it a bit easier and cut myself more slack. That said the bp readings were all fine at the hospital and I dont have to go back... but it gave me a shock!

Lo is fine though - hb etc. And pretty much engaged and in a good position. All that leaning on all fours has worked!

I'm absolutely shattered tonight- the drama of the day plus another crap night's sleep and the stress of in-laws descending tomorrow plus a bad work day tomorrow - work's really stressful at the mo. So going to try to rest this evening rather than madly tidy the house (though am doing that too!).

Alice, sorry about DH and you. I think it's par for the course - he's tired and stressed, so are you, so it's bound to lead to a few sharp words. Also he is probably wishing he had more time for DS and had less time to spend at work. But rant away cos that's why we're here!

Inzi, thanks for the recipe - that sounds so delicious. Wish I had your energy.
Everyone else, hello! hope you're okay.

j20baby · 19/09/2007 20:11

choc {{wags finger}} that really is a lot of hours for you to be doing, when are you on maternity leave?

my update-at mw today, lo is 3/5 now thank god! everything else ok, borrowed a birthing ball off friend and had a bounce laso, not sire, but i think i lost a bit of my plug today, here's hoping!

hope everyone is ok

MrsFish · 19/09/2007 20:44

Chocolate - How long are you going to carry on working for.... they are very long hours

I have had a relatively relaxing day today, and nice lunch with a friend, hoping to have a better nights sleep tonight too Seeing mw tomorrow, hoping lo is still in launch position, but am not entirely sure as there has been so much movement from him the past couple of days... didn't know my tummy could stretch in so many different directions

alicet · 19/09/2007 20:58

Hello ladies.

Very exciting news Lisa and Floria! Not long now I wouldn't think!

Buffy - if you manage to read this I'm sorry you have been having a rough time of it - I'm thinking of you x

Choc sorry you had such an eventful day. Not surprising your bp was up under the circumstances but the right thing to be careful and get you checked out.... Are you going to think about going off earlier then?

Things with dh and I much calmer. I haven't said anything as I don't feel irritated anymore - I think he is just tired. The rant on here earlier was enough for me to see things clearly! He is actulaly fantastically supportive most of the time and I think I am very lucky. I don't have a problem telling him if there is a problem but just don't feel that its an issue anymore.... Thanks for your support!

Big hellos and hugs to all of you lovely ladies....

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2007 21:01

Good news J20!

And Alice - it's good that talking on here helps you see clearly. I think misunderstandings are par for the course at the mo for all of us!

My work, well, the main issue is that my line manager is mega-hyped at the moment and she only trusts certain people to do things, one of whom is me, so I've had everything piled onto me this week and for next, too. I was going to work till 38 weeks but work from home for the last three but now am wondering if I should just cut my losses and stop earlier anyway. Tomorrow I have to tell said line manager that I can't work the ridiculous hours I've been assigned next week (more than anyone else, and nobody else is pregnant!). I've also got the inlaws descending which doesn't help but we've agreed I don't have to be nonstop either at work or with them; I'm going to have to factor in rest time.

Anyway J20 - exciting stuff - you next???

alicet · 19/09/2007 21:22

Congratulations LES! You jammy cow 35 mins! Hope you and Zach are doing well x

J20! I totally missed it earlier when you said you might have had a bit of a show! Good luck!

Choc - good luck chatting to your line manager tomorrow. Here's hoping she's supportive. If not you could always go to your GP and get signed off work - certainly not an unreasonable request under the circumstances. Your maternity leave would then kick in at 36 weeks so 2 earlier than planned but given how things are going this might be on the cards anyway.... Now is a time to be totally selfish - its hard to think like that before your first arrives as you still feel like you're letting everyone down (if you're anything like I was last time) but noone is indispensible and your and your lo's health is more important. You won't be bored - I'm always up for a coffee or few! Big hug!

Um - can't remember everyone elses news.... Back to check!

alicet · 19/09/2007 21:23

Inzi - sorry you're feeling rough. Go rest lady and hope you have a better night's sleep! I'm on the milk big style too and was last time as well!

j20baby · 19/09/2007 21:47

LES!!!

another bloody wow!!

i second the jammy cow

congratulations

hope you're both ok.

nothing happening here, been a bouncing on me ball, think lo is dropping but nothing to report.

anyway watching the end of Torn then off to bed.

{{hugs to Alice and Choc}}-just because
