@LillyLeaf I am exactly the same and feel like I am using my 20 week scan as the main hurdle (hopefully) and will really start to try and enjoy the second half of the pregnancy.

amysara24 · 23/02/2020 14:44

@missdrifter I think they’ll enjoy it, and I was so desperate to book something!
So I’m on a fixed term contract as a teacher, due to finish at the end of the school year in June! It means I’ll probably finish up a couple of weeks before that (first week in June maybe) and still be paid til the end of my contract, but won’t get maternity pay when I’m off. I’m also doing a phd so secretly hoping I’ll get somewhere with it when on maternity and go into lecturing when I’m ready to go back to work 🤞🏽 What about you have you thought about dates yet? I absolutely agree that the 2nd has been so quick, especially as the 1st really seemed to drag!

I'm 18 weeks today. I've had a few wobbles over the last few days just so worried about things going wrong. Got my scan on 5th March so on the countdown now. I'll be 19+4 on that day. We've bought a couple of little bits but just waiting til we move to buy more things. Hopefully after the next scan I'll feel a bit more confident.
Think I've felt movement once, it was like three little pops. Anterior placenta here too.

Is anyone going to have a babymoon??

Ethellsmum · 23/02/2020 20:54

Another anterior placenta here! I’ve felt a few little nudges but nothing proper. The sonographer said she was very active though.

We have decided not to have any further testing unless the 20 week scan shows anything concerning. My blood levels were similar to my blood levels last pregnancy, also giving a high risk. I think that’s just my normal.

I got the baby clothes out the loft today - couldn’t resist now I know what we are having! I don’t think I’ll need to buy anything else! Baby has over 20 sleepsuits and vests in newborn!

amysara24 · 23/02/2020 21:22

@squirrelnutkins1 it’s so hard not to worry, hopefully the next scan will put your mind at rest. Though if you’re like me, it’ll help for a day or two and then you’ll start worrying again 🤦🏽‍♀️ We’ve not planned a baby moon, just a week once baby is here! Are you?
@ethellsmum I absolutely agree with you, sometimes they cause more stress than needed. Hopefully the next scan will go well and there will be nothing of concern to see.

@amysara24 absolutely the same! The relief is amazing for a couple of days and then I'm back to worrying all the time! I think we'll do something, even if it's just a little cosy weekend away together. I am so happy to be having this little girl, it's been a rollercoaster to get here but it's def going to be weird after being together nearly 14 years, just the two of us, to having a little baby!
Anyone else having a lot of pain? It's not severe but as far as I've read I think it's round ligament pain. Also when I need a wee it can be really painful but then instant relief after weeing!

Glad you won't have to be spending too much, must be a relief for you @Ethellsmum

LillyLeaf · 23/02/2020 21:56

We're thinking about a baby moon but I think maybe we shouldn't. We've spent a fortune on IVF and will need to buy baby stuff so feeling a bit guilty spending money on a holiday, but I would love one though. I can't wait to start feeling movements (another anterior placenta).

LucyLucyT · 24/02/2020 13:12

Had my 20 week scan and 1st consultant appointment today. Everything looking as it should which is a relief. It's head is small in comparison to other bits of the body but still within normal limits so don't think I need to worry! I think they worry when

Missdrifter · 24/02/2020 16:16

Congratulations @LucyLucyT that’s brilliant news. Do you mind me asking how long the scan lasted for? I have mine on Thursday and feeling very anxious about it all.

LucyLucyT · 24/02/2020 18:05

I think it was about 25 minutes in the end. He went through all the organs, checked the spine, the heart chambers. They look to see the skin layer looks smooth over the spine. Check the umbilical cord is connected, they look at the placenta etc. Lots of measurements were taken as well. It was quite relaxed thankfully, it was a nice moment for us. I'm sure you'll be fine but it's natural to be apprehensive x

pottypotamus · 24/02/2020 18:24

Hello everyone, congrats everyone who's had a scan. I have mine on 5th March as well @squirrelnutkins1 Smile
Very nervous about it though. I've felt a few prods from inside but feel like they are less pronounced than in my last pregnancies at the same gestation. But it could just be me not remembering accurately. But making me worry nonetheless.
Good luck to all who have their scans soon! x

amysara24 · 25/02/2020 20:37

@LucyLucyT I’m glad it all went well! If any part was to be smaller at the minute the head is the one 😣 I’m sure any differences will even out in the coming weeks too.
I’m looking forward to the scan to see baby again, though I know I’ll be anxious up until they find the little heartbeat again. I’m even overanalysing my belly now - I keep thinking it’s shrinking instead of growing but my weight is going up so I doubt it is. Stupid hormones making me worry about every little thing!

Hi Guys,
Sorry, I have dropped off this thread from the first one. Glad to see you are all doing well and I'm not the only one who is still anxious!! Another anterior placenta here so no movement yet. Will be 20 weeks on Thursday and have my scan then so hoping all is well 🤞🏼

LillyLeaf · 26/02/2020 08:35

@ninemonthwait the anxiety is still there, hopefully we'll feel better after our scans. Although I'm sure they'll be another milestone to worry about. I still haven't told work and it's getting harder to hide.

Missdrifter · 26/02/2020 16:04

Welcome back @ninemonthwait. We both have our scans tomorrow ekkkk I am very nervous but hoping everything will be ok. Feeling lucky that my appointment is in the morning!

ninemonthwait · 26/02/2020 19:20

@Missdrifter aww that's really good. I have to wait until the afternoon. Hope all goes well for you - are you finding out the sex?

Missdrifter · 26/02/2020 19:31

@ninemonthwait we actually already know the sex of our baby because we had a scare from the screening tests, so we were offered the harmony test and with that we had chance to find out whet we were having. We believe we are having a little girl (although tiny chance we could find out it’s a boy as harmony is not 100%) are you going to find out? Hope it goes well for you too

ninemonthwait · 26/02/2020 19:47

@Missdrifter sorry about your scare. We had a private scan a couple of weeks ago because my anxiety wouldn't see me through to the 20 week scan and found out then. We were going to wait and open it on DHs birthday but we lasted 2 hours haha... Little Boy for me (hopefully they say the same tomorrow!)

Missdrifter · 27/02/2020 09:09

Good luck for later @ninemonthwait! Just had mine and everything looked good which is such a relief. It did take a while and I had to move about a bit to get baby in to position.

LucyLucyT · 27/02/2020 15:19

@squirrelnutkins1 just read your message from the other day and what you were saying about having been with your partner for all those years just the two of you totally resonates with me as well. I've been with my partner for nearly 16 years and it's going to be so different in a few months time!
He's excited because he has started to be able to feel slight movements when touching my bump (flabby belly!), he was jealous that I have been feeling them for a few weeks hehe.
I also get what I think is round ligament pain, mostly when I sneeze suddenly without having time to brace for it!

Good luck to everyone with their scans in the coming days xx

ninemonthwait · 27/02/2020 17:05

@Missdrifter glad it all went well for you. All good for me too... Now to try my hardest to relax and enjoy the last half of pregnancy!

Missdrifter · 27/02/2020 17:10

@ninemonthwait congratulations. I think you are right and we should try and relax and enjoy it all now. I bet the second half is going to fly by.

Does anyone else have their scans coming up?

squirrelnutkins1 · 27/02/2020 17:54

Congrats on all the scans 😊 and thinking of everyone with upcoming scans.

@LillyLeaf ah yes, the unbraced sneeze pain is terrible!!!

I'm really anxious still. I bumped into my consultant this week and expressed my concerns. She was kind and will see me next week at my scan appointment to talk. She also referred me to a bereavement midwife and I had a 20 min phone call with her - she was supportive and gave me her mobile number in case I want to talk further. She was very understanding and obviously sees the impact of mc on women and in their future pregnancies.

I'm on the count down for next Thursday 20 week scan and hopefully that will be a turning point for my anxiety (her words not mine, but hoping that's true).

This morning before I got up (and this afternoon during a lie down cus I felt poorly) I felt yno when you're nervous and your stomach flips, well that kind of feeling and I'm wondering if that was my little lady moving about? Anyone else felt similar? Xx

LillyLeaf · 27/02/2020 21:16

Great news about those scans. Still another 12 days for mine.

ninemonthwait · 28/02/2020 08:23

@squirrelnutkins1 I sometimes wonder if the feeling I get in my stomach I put down to just like food gurgling is actually the little boy it's good that you have that extra support if you need someone to talk to.

Hoping time goes quick for those still waiting for their scans x
