@squirrelnutkins1 many congratulations, hope it's all going okay in the first few crazy days! Hope you're managing your pain okay from your section. Don't shy away from taking the painkillers regularly at the moment.

My little lady is still quite windy each morning for a couple of hours so that's affecting my sleep somewhat and I'm not great at napping in the day to catch up! Infacol doesn't seem to make much difference, might try gripe water once she's a month old.

How are people managing the heat? So so hot at night! x

amysara24 · 10/08/2020 20:36

@LucyLucyT does she struggle to get the wind up? Sometimes I think our wee man is bothered with trapped wind in the evening, almost colic like though apparently breastfeeding makes it unlikely they’ll get colic? I’ve seen the infacol drops advertised, are they helping your little one? I wasn’t sure what age they could use them from!
We’ve got the windows opened and a fan on to try and keep the room cool though it can still feel quite stuffy! He sleeps better swaddled too so I’m always a bit nervous he will be too hot..
anyone else finding they worry about every single little thing? If he’s unsettled I worry, if he’s sleeping a lot I worry.. he can’t win bless him! I have also had to send a swab off as I’m still passing clots (sorry if this is tmi) and the dr wants to check there isn’t an infection.. so I’m worrying about that now too!

@amysara24 I know what you mean, I am the same with worrying about one thing one day and basically the opposite problem the next!

Infacol can be used from birth. Principle is that it combines the gas bubbles so it's easier to bring up. I try to burp each time after feeding but admit sometimes at night I'm too tired to do it to quite the same degree.
Basically she kicks her legs and can arch her back, as well as general restlessness, it's clear she's trying to pass wind or poo. Happens every morning now though and although she's not crying, she is obviously a bit uncomfortable and I haven't found anything that helps so far. I think it is just a case of riding it out.

amysara24 · 14/08/2020 19:23

@LucyLucyT so I got some infacol and it seems to be helping, he will bring up some wind straight away, though still seems to struggle a bit with it an hour or so after. The health visitor said wind problems usually ease by 3 months so maybe you’re right and we will just have to do what we can for now!
I’m wondering if we’re approaching our first “leap” albeit a few days early, or a growth spurt as he hasn’t been settling as well and his feeding pattern has completely changed! I’m not sure what a growth spurt would look like for him though as he has gained 13oz this week again 😅
How is everyone getting on? I guess some of you in the south will have had much hotter weather than us in Scotland - I hope it’s been manageable for you all!

How’s all the babies doing?
I can’t believe we are 5 weeks old already and outgrowing the first sleepsuits.
It seems ages since I was pregnant and I miss it so much lol.

amysara24 · 22/08/2020 21:14

Hi @Ethellsmum 😊 we’re doing well here - I can’t believe how quickly the first month went! How are things with you?
We’re starting to discover a vague routine both day and night, which is helping me feel a bit more human! Feeding is also getting a bit easier though I still end up covered at times 🙄
I can barely remember what it feels like to be pregnant it seems so long ago! I love looking back at pictures though.
How is everyone else getting on? Did anyone ever start a baby club thread?

@Ethellsmum it's mad how quickly time has gone, my little girl, Erin is doing quite well even though I overthink every little change in behaviour! I'm either worried she's feeding too much or too little, pooing too much, not enough, sleeping too much (or mostly, not enough!). She is quite "gastric" I suspect has some reflux as she is always bringing up milk but it doesn't seem to bother her and she is putting on weight okay. She is still quite windy early in the morning which means I don't get sleep and that time.

I was reading about Wonder Weeks and it seems that they often have one between week 4-6, I definitely thinks she's in the middle of it as has been so fussy and wanting to feed feed feed the last couple of days.

I'm hoping to try expressing some breast milk in the coming days once she's settled again so that my partner can give a feed once in a while, thinking that I want to get back to a bit of exercise in a month or two as well and will need to be able to feed her while I'm out.

Hope everyone is progressing with their little ones okay

LucyLucyT · 29/09/2020 11:24

So how is everyone doing?
My little lady is okay, learning to live with the reflux, so plenty of washing to do and never without a muslin hehe.
She is dropping a percentile on her weight annoyingly so health visitor still coming to weigh her until it settles. I'm EBF still, hopefully won't need to supplement but if needed I will.
She has some awful nappies sometimes! I suspect she has some sensitivities, I tried cutting dairy (probably wasn't committed enough to this!) but it didn't make much difference. She has some very green poo about half the time, fun fun!
She sleeps fairly well at night but is basically awake all day which makes getting things done at home difficult!
She's smiling lots and babbling now which is so lovely.
I hope everyone is okay and enjoying time with their little ones.
