@WeeScottishWife ahh the name threw me off!
@LittleMrsMama I know what you mean too, I had my hopes up that it would have happened by now.
Just back from my appointment, they’ve scheduled an induction for Friday so I guess I don’t have much longer to wait. I’m not looking forward to the extended stay in hospital (or night(s) apart from DH, as soppy was that night sound) but looking forward to meeting baby..

I had two long walks yesterday and was pretty achey and crampy in the evening but nothing else.

DH took my pregnancy vits this morning by accident, is he going to have a baby now too? GrinGrin

LittleMrsMama · 16/07/2020 09:53

@HairsprayBabe and @weescottishwife - glad it's not just me! I really shouldn't have told people my due date, I'll know for next time although I think part of the excitement is because it's the first baby so imagine people won't be as bothered with the second.

@amysara24 I'm also being induced tomorrow! I'm really hoping it won't take 2-3 days as the hospital has mentioned. We've only told our parents and siblings about the induction so hopefully I won't be too bombarded tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing how you get on. Not long until we'll meet our little ones now!

@LittleMrsMama ahh we will be able to keep each other company! I’m also hoping it’s hours rather than days but who knows! I’m dreading the pessary too, I can’t even use tampons normally so I’m not sure how I’ll find it!

OP posts:
LittleMrsMama · 16/07/2020 11:00

@amysara24 it'll be nice to have someone else going through this at the same time. I'm sure once they put the pessary in you won't feel it. Or even someone I know went for an induction and they were already so dilated they didn't need the pessary. That would be ideal!

I'm a bit sad DH can't be there until active labour and it could be days :( I keep double checking my Hospital restrictions just in case they change it

amysara24 · 16/07/2020 12:54

@LittleMrsMama that would be ideal - when they examined me yesterday my cervix was firmly shut but at this stage I suppose 2 days is enough time for things to start... still walking the dogs daily and spending a lot of time on the exercise ball and in a hot bath so fingers crossed 😂
There seems to be such a range of outcomes it’s so hard to know.. when I was born, mum was induced on Thursday night and in labour by Friday 9am, and she had no cervical changes at all when they induced so we can hope!
Is your DH allowed to visit the antenatal ward at all? With us, he can visit but they need to know times in advance for numbers etc, but the consultant did say that if I am fortunate enough to get a single room there may be some leeway.. though she pointed out that they encourage women to go for walks to get things going, and there’s nothing stopping DH meeting me and going for a walk, which is something I suppose if it does take longer than we’d hope!
I do feel bad for the partners - you’re probably the same, I think it’ll be horrible for them sitting at home waiting.. my DH is a worrier too so I know he won’t settle!

LucyLucyT · 16/07/2020 15:37

I'm still waiting for a bed on delivery suite....they said they would be able to break waters yesterday but everyone else that has since been induced has gone into labour quickly and gone ahead of me. It's getting quite stressful and I'm v emotional. I've been bumped for 7 other women so far and had 3 very bad nights sleep. Hoping I'll get there in next few hours but honestly so exhausted already not sure how I'm gonna do it.

amysara24 · 16/07/2020 15:46

@LucyLucyT I was thinking of you earlier - that sounds horrible I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had such a rubbish time. You must be absolutely drained. You’re so close to the finish line now, everything is crossed you get a bed soon and once you get going, everything moves a bit quicker and smoother for you.. it’s such a cliche thing to say I know, but it will be so so worth it in the end 💕

OP posts:
LittleMrsMama · 17/07/2020 05:11

I hope you've been able to get a bed on the delivery suite @lucylucyt - that sounds so frustrating! I hope you managed to get some sleep or raise your energy levels a little ready for the birth. Really excited for you!

@amysara24 good luck for today! Sadly DH isn't allowed in until active labour so will be facing the first part alone. Once he's in he's not allowed to leave and come back. He can stay for 1hr once the baby is here and then has to leave and can't return until he's collecting me and the baby (even then has to meet me outside the building!) It definitely isn't ideal for either of us. He doesn't want to miss out and I'm going to feel very scared and lonely, especially as a FTM but we'll get through it. I'm due today so was hoping the little one would make her own appearance but it's not meant to be.

Hope all the other mums to be and new mamas are doing well!

amysara24 · 17/07/2020 05:47

@LittleMrsMama you too! Happy due day!! Are you in first thing? I have to be there for 1pm, be a long morning waiting! I’m feeling very nervous too, I think it’s not knowing how long it will take even once induced!
That sounds very restricted still, I’m so sorry to hear that ☹️ I’m surprised too, as we seem to be behind in most aspects of releasing measures in Scotland, but seems like we’re ahead on this particular one. Fingers crossed when you get there if it’s quiet or you get a single room that they might be a little bit lenient 🤞🏽

@amysara24 hope the wait hasn't been too tough! I was lucky to be brought in at 9.30am. Had my pessary fitted about 11am after some monitoring and now just have to wait until 11am tomorrow for it to be removed and hopefully I'll be dilated enough for my waters to be broken. Sadly was only 1cm when I came in this morning (my due date). Also had a Covid test.

So far it's just me on the ward but they're expecting more women to arrive today. They're being very strict with visitors but I've downloaded a few bits on my iPad so not all bad.

Good luck for today!

How's everyone else getting on? Been thinking of you @lucylucyt

amysara24 · 17/07/2020 12:56

@LittleMrsMama glad to hear all is going well - you never know what will happen between now and 11am tomorrow!
I had a phone call putting me back until 4pm as they were busy, so not at the hospital yet! I don’t think I’m going to be dilated at all so expecting to be in it for the long haul!
@LucyLucyT I hope you’re doing ok and managed to get a bed in the labour ward, and everything is going smoothly for you!

OP posts:
LittleMrsMama · 17/07/2020 22:04

Hope you got on okay this afternoon @amysara24

It's so boring being in hospital alone, although worse now there are other people on my ward. There's people phoning partners on loudspeaker, someone ordered a smelly takeaway, a grunter etc. Going to be an interesting night!

How's everyone else doing?

Thanks @LittleMrsMama, had the pessary around 5.30pm so nothing much happening here yet. I hope everything is going ok with you and you get good news when they check this morning!
I’m so surprised you’re having that experience - DH asked our mw about visiting and she just said “anytime from 9am-10pm” which is their normal hours!!
How did last night go? Some people are so inconsiderate! I had a screamer opposite me who had an internal through the night and I think the whole hospital knew a lot it haha.
I hope everyone else is doing ok too - due dates are all fast approaching! 🥰

Nothing happening here, I still feel the same as I did a.month ago - I think I will still be pregnant in August.

Hope the inductions are going well for everyone!

Once we have all popped shall I set up a graduates group or do you want to fill this thread first?

Ethellsmum · 19/07/2020 00:29

Good luck with the inductions.
I went in Wednesday evening for my induction and baby arrived yesterday tea time.
She is perfect.
I think the stress, worry, tiredness etc of the past few days caught up with me today as I am one big sobbing mess.

Missdrifter · 19/07/2020 03:30

Congratulations @Ethellsmum that’s wonderful news.
Sending lots of luck for those of you having inductions and looking forward to hearing the news of more safe arrivals very shortly.
I am currently up doing a feed but my god she is worth it.

amysara24 · 19/07/2020 09:50

@Missdrifter @Ethellsmum aww ladies I’m so glad to hear you’re both loving your new little bundles, even if it’s tiring!! Massive congratulations to you both 💗💗
I had the 24 hour pessary and have since had 3 doses of gel which is the max I can get before “discussing options”, so I’ll find out after an exam at lunchtime if anything has changed yet. The unit here was really busy Friday / Saturday as they had some emergencies and sadly a bereavement at birth and so things were a bit behind schedule but it’s quieter today. Just patiently waiting on the inevitable, whenever it may be..
@HairsprayBabe you never know, it might happen sooner but you sound relaxed about it rather than stressing which is commendable! I hope you’re feeling well in general too while you wait!
It still all seems so surreal that we’re at this stage 💕

Hi everyone, thought I would stop by to update you all. I was taken to have a cook’s balloon fitted on Sunday evening and when they put me in the stirrups my waters went! So they started hormones but overnight I developed sepsis and all my obs went mad. Long story short I had an emergency section yesterday morning and am now the proud mummy of the most perfect little boy, weighing 7lb 5oz. I just can’t believe he’s here and that he’s all mine 💕💕
I hope everyone is getting on ok, enjoying the newborn days or the last few days of pregnancy! Thinking of you all 🥰

Many many congratulations to ask those whose precious sons and daughters have now arrived, in so happy for you all and hope things are going well.
@amysara24 I'm sorry things didn't write go to plan but glad you are with your lovely baby boy now.

In the end my story didn't quite go to plan either (I know you can never have a plan, but shall I say it deviated quite a way from what I might have hoped for!)
I finally got a bed on labour ward Friday morning after having been ready since Wednesday lunchtime (it was highly stressful and emotional waiting for a bed, it was just so busy). They managed to break my waters and then my partner arrived to join me.

To cut a long story short, the CTG was showing decelerations that the doctor wasn't happy with, even after the oxytocin was reduced and subsequently stopped.
In the end I had have an emergency c-section, and because I wasn't able to keep very still they weren't able to perform a spinal (and there hadn't been time earlier to put in an epidural as they were monitoring ctg as the priority) so I had to have a general anaesthetic which was such a shame as my partner had to leave and go back to the labour ward on his own not knowing what would happen to us.

Anyway....a baby girl (name still to be confirmed) was our prize for all the madness, she arrived kicking and screaming at 16:32 on Friday 17th weighing 6lbs13. She was taken for cuddles with my partner until I had been patched up and then he joined be in recovery where I finally got to meet her!

I recovered reasonably well on the ward and came home on Sunday (my birthday). I'm sore and still very tired for being in hospital for a week overall.

Our little lady is great but I am having some issues with feeding, we're getting there but it's taking perseverance! The main issue is I have rather large boobs and nipples and she had a small mouth, so not sure how much stress managing to get from me. My mum is visiting this pm and as a retired midwife us going to help me sort out the latch if I can.

Oh and I have crazy leg oedema which is fun, worse than before! Trying to elevate as much as I can but not easy with trying to feed regularly as well hehe.

Good luck to everyone who is still to give birth. Although mine was crazy, we've still ended up with a beautiful little girl and I am gradually recovering 😊

LucyLucyT · 21/07/2020 14:20

Sorry for the typos in there, hope you can make sense of what I've said! I blame the dihydrocodeine hehe

HairsprayBabe · 21/07/2020 14:33

Congratulations to all who have had new arrivals ❤️❤️❤️

Glad everyone has come through relatively in one piece!

@LucyLucyT I am concerned about latch and feeding too I'm a 32F at the moment so very large of bosom, not sure how big my nips are compared to average but when baby does arrive I am worried I will smother them with my massive norks Grin

No further movement here - I am honestly more stressed about our house move than the baby arriving. Baby will arrive when they arrive - the house is a pain that I have to play some active part in managing!!

amysara24 · 21/07/2020 15:26

@LucyLucyT oh gosh I’m so sorry to hear you ended up under GA, and that you strayed so far from your ideal plan! But, I’m so glad to hear you’re home with your darling baby girl and are recovering. The CS recovery is worrying me a bit as I’m still a bit stiff and achey - I’m worried when I get home (hopefully tomorrow) that I will struggle but really hoping not.
I am trying to bf too, I’m a 32E but with pretty flat nipples so poor little man is really trying but struggling at times. The mw in hospital has been a great help and I’ve also been expressing to try and bring milk in as much as possible. She recommended the little chicco nipple corrector and said in all her years working it’s the only thing she’s seen that has reliably worked to help prep tv nipple for latching so I’ve ordered one and hoping it helps!
@HairsprayBabe glad you’re still keeping well! You’re really challenging yourself time wise with a house move too haha! Hoping your move goes ok too though, let’s hope the 2 don’t happen simultaneously 🤣
