Boobs getting in the way and annoying me! I'm pretty much happy being naked but I prefer my boobs to be supported as I find it more comfy

And I might get this off boohoo cheap enough, black and has buttons for breastfeeding www.boohoo.com/maternity-button-front-nightie/BZZ46658-105-22.html?istCompanyId=4bd63293-f970-4d25-8695-422e3c08a364&istFeedId=4213e776-38e9-4fed-89b9-aadfd4011112&istItemId=ixtqtrttq&istBid=t&gclid=CjwKCAjw8df2BRA3EiwAvfZWaNBZYsSdh2sPjTs9cnnit4XjqZmxYLHGFMEOtdsdhhhutMfqHXAOdBoCrCgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

@HairsprayBabe that’s honestly amazing, the willpower that goes into losing any weight is immense never mind sticking to it for almost 4 years 😅 also we’re a similar age which I didn’t realise 😂
Though they’ve not discussed birth options yet, a water birth is definitely my preference - I’m keen for as little intervention / pain relief as possible.. but I suppose I’ll hear today if that’s possible or not 🤞🏽
Boohoo maternity stuff is great for the price! I got leggings and stuff from them a few weeks ago when they had 20% off, never thought to look for bras there! That was going to be one of my Qs - those planning to (or who have previously) breastfeed, have you got any nursing bra recommendations or are they all much the same? I’ve seen a few that are super expensive, which I don’t mind if they’re worth it but I am clueless!

I think I've ended up buying about 6 nursing bras now, I wish I could have been able to go to a shop and been fitted properly! My issue is I've grown to about 38G so there is less choice. My favourite so far have actually been a two pack from George

Nursingbra-shop.co.uk have a wide range and I received my order fairly quickly.

I got this one as well, not cheap but I like that you can have it crop top style or more traditional

Missdrifter · 04/06/2020 09:48

Thanks for the tips on nursing bras ladies, I need to order a few. I am thinking about packing my hospital bag but struggling to find any nursing nightdresses etc. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also do you know what position your baby’s are in? Mine was still breech at 32 weeks so I am hoping she moves by my next growth scan in 3 weeks time x

amysara24 · 04/06/2020 13:32

Thanks for that @LucyLucyT I will have to order some - I can vary in size so much too that I reckon it’ll be pot luck if they fit!
It’s been so warm I’ve just been wearing a baggy top at night and reckon that’ll be my idea of a nursing nightdress - let it all ha g out 😂
I had my placenta scan yesterday and thankfully it’s moved so isn’t low anymore! Yay! Baby is basically in birth position (at the minute anyway) so head right down pressed on my bloody cervix and bum forwards - we can see the bum move around sometimes, got a wiggler!
@missdrifter there’s still time for her to move around, fingers crossed for you she does! My cousins little one refused to budge even after the consultant tried to turn her, then turned herself a week before being born!
Hospital bag - next on the list! Think I’m going to start at the weekend with washing all baby clothes & bedding!

I got the panache sophie nursing bra, I want some more crop tops style ones.

I went to Matalan today and it was the most exciting thing ever 😂

HairsprayBabe · 10/06/2020 08:28

Hello

Hope everyone is doing well, we are pushing on with the house move and I am just realising how much we have left to do eeek.

Mainly because we had a pretty terrifying night last night, went for a walk at about 5ish, came back and tried to do the washing up but I felt super weird and disconnected, started to get visual disturbances and tunnel vision so I rang mat triage and they had me go in.

Baby was doing great on monitoring but my head felt like it was going to explode, had protein in urine and elevated BP as well. They sent off my bloods but they all came back clear so they sent me home with some anti migraine medication and I have to go back again today for another BP and urine test.

I feel totally fine now, I am a bit worried I will now be automatically high risk and won't get to use the birth center ☹️ but it is directly across the corridor from the labor ward so if necessary I will ask for an out of guidelines care plan and see how far that gets me.

amysara24 · 10/06/2020 08:50

@hairspraybabe I’m sorry that happened you - that must have been scary! Are they monitoring you for preeclampsia? Try not to worry it’s not good for baby 💗 I’ve been to triage twice and unless they find something it shouldn’t change your plans! Fingers crossed for you all goes well today - let us know!
I’ve had an absolute stinker of a few days - all work related which I could have totally done without. I think I’ve said before that my contract is up at the end of June (teacher). Long story short there’s 2 of us in exactly the same position in my department (started and due to finish on the same dates) and on Friday the other one got handed a job til January and I had nada. I assumed they’d chosen not to because I was pregnant but turns out there’s a whole lot more to it than that, and I’ve been up the walls all week stressing about it!

OP posts:
LittleMrsMama · 11/06/2020 23:10

Sorry to hear that @HairsprayBabe - so good you got checked out but please don't worry about high risk and birth centre etc. If they're so close together I'm sure they'd be flexible to your needs and as @amysara24 said, just going to triage with those symptoms won't be enough to make you be in the delivery ward instead of birthing centre.

@amysara24 that sounds so stressful with your job. Pregnancy is hard enough without having to worry about income and jobs etc too. I really hope you were treated fairly against this other person!

This is a really gross personal question but hoping someone might know whether it's normal... over the last few days I've noticed my vagina is more 'open' - as in the hole. Is this something I should flag to my midwife or be worried about or has anyone else had this and it's a completely normal part of pregnancy that I only just realised happened? Also really can't face doing a perineal massage and worry I'm going to tear now. Anyone else faced the same challenge? Sorry to post something so vivid! Just a bit embarrassed to ask someone not on a private forum!

HairsprayBabe · 12/06/2020 06:40

I don't know how to reach properly to do PM without crushing the baby into my chest and getting really out of breath.

I think the "open" ness you are describing is normal, I read an article aaages ago in the gaurdian where a woman had a fwb her whole pregnancy and they discussed how her bits felt "softer" towards the end.

I'm absolutely fine now but the hospital were supposed to ring me back for some additional monitoring and never did

amysara24 · 12/06/2020 07:59

@LittleMrsMama thanks 💗 turns out the other person is just very vindictive and went to the head teacher and told them I was moving to Ireland and didn’t want a job (still strange they just chose to believe her) but it’s sorted now and they extended my contract in exactly the same way - so technically I could take mat leave for the whole extension, but they’ve also said I can remote work so it’s worked out in the end.

I’ve not done any PM either, partly as I don’t know how and partly just laziness! I’ve found myself feeling a bit swollen down there if that’s the right word, and a bit of pressure on my vagina but I assumed it was with baby getting into position, so I guess it could be that?

@HairsprayBabe it’s a bit rubbish of them to say they’ll phone then not, but if we twist it in an optimistic way, then let it be reassurance that they’re not concerned about any of the readings or measurements, or they would have been in touch straight away!

Had midwife yesterday, everything was fine and normal, though fundal height is still over 95th centile! She said if that’s still the case at my next appt, they’ll do a growth scan and probably book an induction. Has everyone else seen their midwife again around this week? Appointments usually get closer together at this stage too don’t they? Hope everyone is doing ok and any upcoming appointments go well! 💕

Missdrifter · 12/06/2020 10:28

Nice to hear from you all.

@HairsprayBabe that sounds like you went through quite an ordeal but pleased you are feeling better now and that baby is doing well.

@amysara24 that’s good that everything has been resolved at work because you don’t need any added stress atm. Hopefully you will be get to have a growth scan soon and at least then you will get to see baby again and feel confident that they are in correct position too.

My baby is still not in the correct position because I can’t feel the head low down but I have a midwife appointment next week followed by a scan the week after. If baby still isn’t in correct position then I think I might have a c section.

I haven’t been doing the PM either or anything else really to prepare for labour. To be fair I haven’t got much idea on what I am supposed to be doing 🤷🏻‍♀️ X

HairsprayBabe · 12/06/2020 18:06

Yeah I feel totally fine now, definitely gave me a shove to pack my hospital bag though!

I don't know how many of what stuff to take though, it's not like normal times where I can send DH home to get me stuff if I run out 🤷

LucyLucyT · 13/06/2020 21:46

@HairsprayBabe glad you are okay now :-)
@amysara24 pleased work issues are resolved, how horrible of your colleague!

I tried PM the other week but I honestly can't reach to do it in the way I need to! I haven't tried again yet.

I also bought some hypnobirthing CDs and haven't got anywhere with that yet....I finish work weds so hoping the extra time will help me catch up!

Hospital bag is nearly packed but still need some "labour wear" as such! I bought a cheap nightie but want something that can button down at the front for skin to skin afterwards.

My little kicker has been head down since 28 week growth scan, hopefully he or she still will be on my 36 week scan on Monday. Saw the midwife about 10 days ago and the baby is still high but was pretty much facing the right way, hoping it stays that way. I've taken to sitting on a gym ball more regularly now as it can apparently help with positioning.

amysara24 · 13/06/2020 22:02

@LucyLucyT thanks, she’s just a witch 😂
Hospital bag was on this weeks to do but I haven’t got there yet, though I’ve been reading lots of stuff about what’s worth packing and what’s not. Bought some lovely tena lady pants for handiness!
@Missdrifter there’s still time for little one to swing the right way round, fingers crossed they do or that the MW can turn them if needs be!
I’ve also started with the exercise ball just for comfort more than anything!

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing alright :)

I'm due on July 29th.

I wish you all a continuous healthy and happy pregnancy and easy delivery.

LucyLucyT · 15/06/2020 21:36

@Fiona1987 hope all has been going well for you, good luck on your delivery too!

HairsprayBabe · 17/06/2020 15:36

Just got back from my 35 week appointment, iron levels are still low so I am being sent for an iron transfusion on SATURDAY! of all days at the hospital... woo.

Also being sent for a growth scan on Friday as bump is now measuring on the 85th centile so a bit of a drop. Everything else seems fine, heartbeat, and movements all normal happily. Baby has been head down since 31 weeks according to my notes, and I have been bopping around on my ball since it arrived last week, much preferring it to my desk chair!

Keep meaning to do PM but forgetting, might see if DH can help but we will probably get distracted Wink our sex life hasn't really slowed down at all except when I had a bit of thrush, we both have quite high sex drives so I am not looking forwards to post baby drought!

Hospital bag is nearly done, just got a few items on watch on eBay that I am hoping to snag - I also want something button down for BF and skin to skin, and I want to find a going home outfit for me as well I have no idea what I will want to wear.

I also want to pack a clean t-shirt for DH but he reckons he won't want one... I think he is wrong Grin

amysara24 · 17/06/2020 15:54

@hairspraybabe that’s super news - apart from a Saturday appointment ☹️ Glad everything went well! These exercise balls are fabulous 😂 a friend of mine threw up over her DH in labour and he didn’t have a change so had to go home for one - I’d pack one for him just incase! Especially since nipping home and back might not be allowed with restrictions.
I had a growth scan on Monday and baby has gone from 95th centile (since 26 weeks) to 50th, so I need another one to check if / why baby might have stopped growing. Hoping it’s nothing serious but I can’t help but get myself all worried about it, especially now towards the end!

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 19/06/2020 14:32

Yes that was my thought @amysara24 he could get anything on him!

My growth scan was absolutely fine, baby is measuring at 5lbs12oz which is pretty average - 56th centile nothing to be concerned about, I was tempted to ask about the sex again but I held back!

This is a great resource as I find the chart on my green notes really hard to read. srhr.org/fetalgrowthcalculator/#/

What snacks are people packing for hospital?

amysara24 · 19/06/2020 18:25

@HairsprayBabe that’s brilliant news, bet you’re relieved! I love that growth chart calculator too, forever plugging things in to check! Do you have a ‘feeling’ either way on sex? I still feel girl here but who knows!
I’m not much of a snacker normally, I’m thinking a couple of cereal bars and probably a chocolate bar or 2! I suspect DH will eat more than me 😂

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 19/06/2020 18:30

@HairsprayBabe I just used that chart and put my measurements in from my 32 week scan it says baby is around 85th centile for everything. I have my 36 scan next Tuesday so keen to see if anything has changed. Pleased yours went well.

My midwife appointment this week was good and bump now on 90th centile (compared to around the 20th at my 31 week appointment- I really don’t trust the bump measurements because the one at 31 weeks was so way off compared to the scan I had week later) however my baby is still breech so I have been given some information about C sections to read and I think if baby is still breech at my scan then they are going to book me in for week 39. I have been doing every trick to try and get baby to move but nothing is working.

Ohh I hadn’t thought about snacks, but I am thinking maybe some flapjacks and other sorts of treats! What do you reckon?

We are so close now ladies. I wonder who’s baby will come first x

amysara24 · 21/06/2020 11:13

@Missdrifter I totally agree that fundal height isn’t that reliable! My MW was giving me advice on inducing me because baby was so big based on fundal height, then the growth scan 3 days later showed baby was small - so I may still be induced but for the opposite reason! Have to be honest I’m very confused about it all!
Will they try to turn baby manually or do you think you’ll opt for a section? Week 39 - that isn’t long at all really is it! There’s still time though it only takes one day for baby to wriggle round the right way!
My fav snacks at the min are strawberries & yogurt which aren’t the most practical for packing 😂
I can’t remember who is due first - I think I’m towards the end (22nd July).. it’ll be like dominoes once one of us goes just waiting on everyone else 😍

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 22/06/2020 14:33

I'm 23rd of July... we got married 26th of October - so a few days over would be great as that would make Grandma happy Grin

I am WILD for fruit at the moment, I am eating about 9-10 portions of fruit daily, still really not bothered by any hot food. I think flapjacks are a good call - I'm not much of snacker but DH is and I don't want to be buggering around with the biscuit tin as we are trying to get out of the door!

I agree that fundal height makes no sense, esp. considering I have had three different midwives measure me and it is subjective as to how they measure anyway!

Had my horrible iron infusion on Sat - baby had a perfect trace and I had perfect obs [preens]

Hopefully this pulls up my iron levels because I cannot be bothered to fight to have to get on the MLU I will if I have to but I'd rather just be low risk and not have to go through the hassle of asking for an out of guidelines care plan.

@Missdrifter are you going to try for ECV or just go straight for c-section?

I think its a boy, not sure why just a feeling!

LucyLucyT · 23/06/2020 11:18

I think I might be one of the furthest along, I'm due 13th July and booked for induction that day. I'm having sweeps from week 39, will probably be two weeks today I have my first try.

Baby seems a reasonable size, estimated weight at 36 wk scan was 6lb so probably looking at about 8lb at birth.

With regards snacks I have a bag ready to go but depending on if we have time, might make some sandwiches etc, more for my partner as it will be difficult for him to leave the labour ward to get anything like that and the ward won't feed him.

I know a lot of people go for lucozade but I've never been a fan of it, I'm all about ribena, might just rely on choccie for my quick energy!

One worry I have is my partner only passed his driving test in December and was not hugely keen on practising, then with the lockdown he had to shield. We've done a couple of runs over to the hospital but it's the parking that's the issue, he's not had masses of real world experience with it, but we have practised a bit more so hopefully it'll be fine! I just know I'll be worrying that he is okay once he's dropped me off. It's annoying that he can't just stay with me, the hospital is 30-40 mins away and sometimes longer when traffic bad, don't want him to have to be back and forth all the time and risk missing the big moment.
