I've searched for due date thread and couldn't find one so thought I would start a new one!

I'm 4+6 and due at the very beginning of September. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old so my hands are going to be very full lol!

@Marsje25 mine was a mmc in July and was picked up on an early scan, I didn't start to bleed until week 10 and ended up having medical assistance. I've booked an early private scan for a week and a half when I'll be nearly 8 weeks which seems like forever away and I'll probably just stress until then but trying not to focus on my negative experience of pregnancy and wishing we get to see a little heartbeat growing baby 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Happythecrocodile · 13/01/2020 10:15

@ChipsAreLife I don’t think I’m going to have an early scan. I didn’t with my first either (I don’t think I really knew it was an option). But 12 weeks does seem like so far away at the moment!

Piper1879 · 13/01/2020 10:21

Morning all.... symptoms are on and off, cramps still there, peeing still there, boobs are coming and going, no actual sickness, sorry if its TMI, a lot of sicky burps :(
I'm 6 weeks today, midwife appointment is the 30th, would love to book an early scan before though but I'm terrified of jinxing.

Anyone else get this weird thing were you feel like you've leaked? like its not as much dischargey as before but occasionally I'm running to the loo :( :(

Marsje25 · 13/01/2020 10:31

@Roxy8203 I know time goes sooo slowly when you want it to go fast! Not long though1.5 week! Because of earlier mc I get my scans through nhs why do you need a private scan?

Roxy8203 · 13/01/2020 10:40

@Marsje25 have you requested it via your doctor or they just offered it? Nobody has mentioned anything to me, even when I went to discuss fertility and have tests done.

Kirstyaka · 13/01/2020 11:13

@ShiningStarz am sure it will be fine but you have those moments you just panic about everything, The only symptom I have is sore boobs but that seems to have gone away. I was sick the other day cause of the smell of eggs my oh was cooking but that’s been the only time.

@Watermelon2016 we have the same EDD and this is also my 3rd pregnancy, am sorry to here about your loss

JMill13 · 13/01/2020 13:39

Hey all! Hope everyone's okay today. Think I've officially entered week 7 (according to an app on my phone anyway) and def feels like the sickness is trying to take hold. Was sick twice this morning before work and been proper heaving to almost sick all morning. Been force feeding myself small bites all day in the hopes it'll help this afternoon. Don't want work to start asking questions just yet. Boobs are still ridiculously big and sore but mostly sore at night for some reason. Mainly just nipples that are super sensitive a sore to touch, which is fun putting a bra on 🙄. So ladies try not to panic too much as other than boobs and peeing every half an hour I haven't really had many symptoms up to this point either but def starting to feel a bit different now.

Does anyone know if I need to bring anything with me to first midwife appointment? Haven't seen a doctor or anything so have no clue what to expect at the appointment either, anyone any ideas?

Marsje25 · 13/01/2020 14:48

@Roxy8203 they told me last time when I had a mc and later after all the tests at the miscarriage clinic they told me to phone the early pregnancy unit at 5 weeks pregnant. They want to keep an eye on me every two weeks from then and they will give me progesterone and higher doses folic acid as well. I would just phone the early pregnancy unit and see what they say when you explain your situation. Maybe it is because i had 3 miscarriages and I'm 34?

Roxy8203 · 13/01/2020 15:27

@Marsje25 maybe that's the reason then. I'm 37 and have no children so a miscarriage is my only experience so far but I've only had one, and I'm hoping it stays that way. Good to see they are supporting you, I hope this is a better exercise for you

Piper1879 · 13/01/2020 15:51

@JMill13, I got my referral the other day and they sent a lot of leaflets including certain tests and what hospital I would prefer to give birth in, I'm taking lots and lots of questions, as I'm being worry wort!

Happythecrocodile · 13/01/2020 16:27

@JMill13 is it your booking appointment? If so last time I was asked to bring a urine sample. Also they will ask you a lot of questions about yours and your partner’s family medical history, so maybe be prepared for that. And if you have any particular concerns or questions maybe write them down so you don’t forget Smile

Samk79 · 13/01/2020 16:27

@Kangaroo77 that's great you enjoy working. I do too but was always part time when my kids were younger

I think we are going to pay for an early scan this time, we didn't find out I'd miscarried until I was 11 weeks last time which was tough

TG2019 · 13/01/2020 16:36

After saying what I did earlier I have booked an early scan. I will be 8 and a half weeks.
I’m going on a work training course that’s physical the week after, and I will need to tell work colleagues and I think I’d feel much better telling people if I’ve had a scan.
What should I expect at a private scan?
What’s everyone’s experience been with their midwife are they cool about private scans? My scan is 2 days before my first MW appointment

ChipsAreLife · 13/01/2020 16:54

Yeah just to echo @happycrocodile you get asked a lot of medical history questions so best ask your family and DH/DPs for anything of note. Don't worry if they ask you something that you don't know then and there.

Oh lovely @TG2019 I was tempted but my friend had a mmc at 10 weeks so I think I would just worry after that point anyway! I'm trying to learn to conquer the anxious feeling as for me it only really eases after 24 weeks. The only reason I may get one is DH May be away with work for 12 week scan, but we are hoping not!

Feeling so bloody tired. I swear I wasn't this tired first two times. I'm lucky enough to work from home and been having a 20 min nap at lunch to survive! Anyone with other kids feel absolutely shattered?!

JMill13 · 13/01/2020 17:06

Thanks @Happythecrocodile and @ChipsAreLife I'm assuming it's the booking in as will be just under 8 weeks but all I did was phone and speak the GP surgery reception and they just automatically gave me a midwife appointment so I'm completely cluesless really.

Sadly no one knows I'm pregnant so can't start out of the blue asking medical history of either family just yet so hopefully we can answer most things ourselves.

Marsje25 · 13/01/2020 17:12

@Roxy8203 I would defo phone if your 37, everyone over 35 gets extra care!! At least that's what they told me! So a call might be all you need! We dont have any children yet either only MC's that's why I find this one so scary..

Roxy8203 · 13/01/2020 17:25

@Marsje25 where are you based? I wonder if it's different for different hospitals areas

Kangaroo77 · 13/01/2020 18:00

@Samk79 oh that's really harsh. Sorry to hear that 😕.

I'm anxious of that too. Like if it's not progressing properly etc, typical preg worries. I might get an early scan. Although I should probs just ring the midwife unit as they might offer me an early scan being 42 and a previous trisomy. I also had gestational diabetes last time. Jeez I feel like a walking high risk!

Tbh the whole thing still feels really surreal. When will you get it booked in for?

Marsje25 · 13/01/2020 18:01

@Roxy8203 I'm in Scotland

Kangaroo77 · 13/01/2020 18:06

@TG2019 congrats 🥰. I think I had 8ish weeks scan last preg and they confirmed heart best and possibly placenta positioning etc. It was quite exciting.

I can't remember what I did before but this time I'm having harmony test at 11 weeks (includes full bloods) so I'm not going to want that done again at nhs 12 week scan. I'm hoping they don't get funny about it but there's no point doing it twice and I know the trisomy odds will be bad due to my age and I dont want to get freaked out. I know nhs calculate part of the odds by mothers age which could skew my odds dramatically. Anyway more and more people have private scans so I'm sure midwives are more used to seeing them now. Xx

ShiningStarz · 13/01/2020 18:32

@Roxy8203 my fingers and toes are 🤞 for you. I really hope this is our time too as this little one is very much wanted too.
I’m learning to relax a little as I know it is completely out of my control in these early weeks. Hugs and hugs xx

ShiningStarz · 13/01/2020 18:35

@Roxy8203 my doctor said he’d refer me to early pregnancy unit for a scan from 7 weeks. I’m going private anyway, I’ve decided with my age and previous I would like to be able to contact a consultant as and when I need to.

ShiningStarz · 13/01/2020 18:40

@Roxy8203 @Marsje25 the guidance says over age 40 for uncomplicated pregnancies. Scotland are probably different from rest of the uk!!! Typical

ShiningStarz · 13/01/2020 18:41

Wow @JMill13 your symptoms really started from week 7!!!
Iv been wanting to feel ‘pregnant’!!! Lol
It’ll probably punch me in the dance at 7 weeks!!!! 🙈

Dipsy77 · 13/01/2020 18:47

@tg2019 private scans are lovely and midwifes are absolutely fine with them.
I had a dating scan and you get to see on a big screen and usually you can take up to 5 people with you they make you feel really at ease and the pictures tend to be so much better than NHS.

I had my booking in last time at 9 weeks takes about an hour going through family history etc.

Because I'm 42 I had a consultant and got growth scans and was tested for diabetes, I was also put on aspirin.

Just can't wait to get to 11 weeks even though I was going through this the same time last year I'd forgotten how nerve racking it is every twinge and I'm panicking, currently sat with cramps and worrying but I was the same last year I ended up at the EPU at 5 weeks for spotting and ended up having 4 scans before 12 week and all was fine, I'm hoping I can avoid that this time !x
