Hi all

Just thought I would get this set up so that we had somewhere to go at the end. Will link to it in the old thread. Can’t believe we reached the limit so soon!!!

Hi everyone! I havent posted on here for quite a while now.. hope you are all doing well :)
I had my 12 week scan today, my new EDD is August 9th so Im 11 weeks and 3 days today.
This morning did not get off to the best start however. As soon as I got out of bed, I started absolutely gushing red blood! No clots and no pain, it was just a torrent of it and it then stopped very abruptly. I tried to not freak out too much as I knew I had a scan literally 3 hours later but was still terrified. Long story short, the baby is doing well and looked very active and healthy during the scan! There was no identifiable cause of the bleed. Im so relieved, but also worried that something could still end up going wrong :(

Does anyone else have a really dry (and flaky, yuck) bump?? I've been slathering it every night with a Body Shop yoghurt moisturiser but thinking I need something more industrial strength!

Tink12345 · 23/01/2020 11:41

@blackpinkinyourarea wow the bleeding sounds so scary! So glad everything is okay. Dont have a bump as such (just post christmas fat I think!) And no dry but previously I have found an oil based moisturiser (bio oil maybe, I have used olive oil in the past!) Rubbed into damp skin to be the best dry skin fix

DanielleG96 · 23/01/2020 12:45

Hi everyone had my 12 week scan this morning. Baby is measuring 12 weeks and 2 days so exactly where I thought I would be with due date being 4th August. Very wriggly and had its hand on its face the whole time but very cute!

Hi ladies, I had my scan today as well! I’m 12 weeks exactly and all is well so far. What a relief!

Are people starting to tell others now they’ve had 12 week scan? I’d like to tell friends and work but not sure the best time. I’m getting fatter so it’ll be obvious soon anyway!

blackpinkinyourarea · 23/01/2020 14:00

@tink12345 good shout with an oil based moisturiser, i'll give one of those a try!
@maisiemolly @DanielleG96 ah so pleased both your scans went well Smile
Maisie - DH and I have already told most people as I had 3 scans before the 12 week scan so had already had reassurance that baby was OK, plus with it being christmas/new years it was really obvious why i wasnt drinking!
I havent told my work though (apart from my manager), im putting that off for as long as possible as i have certain colleagues who would probably make inappropriate comments. I am REALLY showing though, I have a proper bump going on. TBH my colleagues have probably already gussed Grin

NamiSwan · 23/01/2020 17:46

Congrats everyone with successful 12 weeks scans this week! Mine is Monday when I will be 13 weeks. Can't wait! I'm so nervous though 😕

@blackpinkinyourarea my bump isn't that dry yet but in my last pregnancy it was very dry other in pregnancy and for ages afterwards. I invested in some mama mio tummy butter and it was the best thing ever.

StephD2020 · 23/01/2020 17:51

@blackpinkinyourarea apparently coconut oil (the stuff that you cook with) is meant to be mega for dry skin, all natural too. I'm using cocoa butter's bump butter and it's only been a couple of days but my tummy skin is sooooo soft already!

Am struggling a bit with weight gain today. Feeling really fat and bloated and not pregnant looking, just too many mince pies looking! 😫 anyone else gained a lot of weight in this first trimester? I'm already getting stressed about how much I'm going to have to lose come August..... 😱

annie1994 · 23/01/2020 18:35

Hello had my booking appointment today!! Can’t wait to get my date for the first scan. My BMI is 36 which is obviously too high but my midwife says because of this I need to take a higher dose of folic acid... my best friend recently gave birth (around same BMI as me) but she just took the normal dose of folic acid 🤔 anyone else been told this??

PandaPink · 23/01/2020 20:07

@annie1994 I have the same BMI and I take 5mg and normal pregnancy vitamin too.
@StephD2020 I've lost 10lbs but I started at 16st anyway and have lost my usual appetite/being sick. I need to lose the weight. Ive looked pregnant most of my adult life.

StephD2020 · 23/01/2020 20:39

@PandaPink ah I heard it's common to lose weight when you feel sick all the time. I haven't had one bit of sickness so I guess I've just been having waaaay too many treats.

I used to be 18st and managed to get down to 11st 4lb when I got my bfp. But I was only on 1300 cals/day then so now I've upped it to 2000 but I've not been tracking and I've CLEARLY been eating way more than that! Back to tracking again for me tomorrow I think!

heroineinahalfshell · 23/01/2020 22:31

@annie1994 my BMI is 32 and the midwife told me to take extra folic acid, but didn't say how much and I don't know if they sell folic acid on its own, so I've just been eating loads of broccoli since last week along with the pregnacare vitamins Confused

annie1994 · 23/01/2020 23:04

@heroineinahalfshell @PandaPink oh right thanks! I think if BMI is over 30 we should have 5mg. As far as I’m aware we have to get a doctor prescription for that higher dose which is a bit of a nuisance!!

DanielleG96 · 24/01/2020 07:01

I take extra folic acid anyway as I'm deficient, but yes I think you can only get it through prescription from your GP

Realladymarmalade · 24/01/2020 07:12

Extra folic acid - my BMI is 22 but I am 42 years of age- so my midwife told me at booking this wk that I need the extra folic, though I take pregnacare. I was a bit annoyed as my gp might have told me this 4 weeks ago ..I get very anxious about defects and a abnormalities due to my age.
I think you can just get it in boots , in the vitamin aisle.

9 weeks today , it's my day off work so going to phone up and book the harmony and scan for next week.

Oh and midwife told me that my trust will do the harmony test..from may onwards! Gutted, but that's what credit cards are for.

PandaPink · 24/01/2020 07:38

Totally forgot to post this yesterday. 12 week scan at which I though I was 11+6 I have been measured at 12+5!! I am spot on with my dates though so baby is growing rapidly. Due date now 1st August.
I will have extra growth scans every 4 weeks where they will plot a chart of the growth.
Baby was jumping around all over the place so they couldn't measure fluid at the back of the neck.
I'm so pleased though Smile

DanielleG96 · 24/01/2020 08:18

I think that the folic acid you buy in boots is the 400 one that's in most pregnancy vitamins. I'm not sure if they mean you need the 5mg ones which are 12x stronger than that as those are the ones the doctors prescribe

allthesharks · 24/01/2020 09:53

Hello, can I join?

I had my 12 week scan yesterday with baby number 3 (first with my partner). Due date 6th August.

Firstmummytobe · 24/01/2020 11:10

Hello 2nd trimester!
13 weeks today and I’m feeling better than ever, the only thing Reminding me I’m pregnant is my screensaver of my scan😂🙈

Anybody else’s symptoms seem to have disappeared?!
So happy for everybody who has had successful 12 weeks scans❤️

KirstieC · 24/01/2020 14:28

@Firstmummytobe

My symptoms seem to have mostly disappeared too apart from maybe a bit of food aversion still, but I was picky to begin with 🙂

Have my 12 weeks scan on 30th, when I'll actually be 13+4 and can't wait! It's the day after my birthday so will be a lovely present to see baby again.

I have a definite bump going on...boyfriend told me I look like I've had a good meal, but he also said he finds it attractive so not complaining 👌🏼

sezzywoowoo21 · 24/01/2020 17:56

@jojo19834 how was your scan on Wednesday?im counting down days till mine Tuesday can’t come quick enough Xx

PandaPink · 24/01/2020 20:38

Does anybody take baths?
I love a bath but have had a couple of warm baths pre 12 weeks and today my back is clearly softening or adjusting to the pregnancy and I'm quite uncomfortable. I'd love one of my usual hot baths but I know it's not safe. I'm in a warm bath just now and still worrying that it's too hot. I was able to step in and lie down right away without easing myself in gently as I usually need to.

Dollywilde · 24/01/2020 20:46

Don’t worry @pandapink, honestly a warm (not hot) bath is absolutely fine. I’ve had days where my lower back has been really achey and I couldn’t cope without a bath! Am thinking of having one in a sec Grin

If you’re really worried, you can always take your temperature to check - advice is that your temperature shouldn’t go above 38.9c for more than 10 mins. But honestly, if you got that hot, you’d probably be getting out the bath for your own comfort!

Jojo19834 · 24/01/2020 20:53

@PandaPink isn’t it as well that you shouldn’t have a bath before a certain point to avoid infection risk but we are past that now? Really wanted one when first found out as felt pampering and relaxing but kept away

@sezzywoowoo21 scan was really good, thanks for asking! OMG did she apply some pressure. Had the NT measured and they need to do it multiple times and after a while it was quite painful! I have this evening just had my Harmony results, I’m less than 1 in 10,000 for downs etc and having a baby girl!!!! So pleased but would have been happy with either. I feel like I know too early now though but haven’t started shopping so hopefully it balances out for those that like to wait longer!

Glad everyone has been doing well, I’ve been lurking but just not really posting xx

Aw that's lovely news @jojo19834 I'm going for testing in a couple of weeks.
I was pressed on so hard yesterday very uncomfortable! No wonder baby was jumping all over the place.

Honestly get days like today where I feel like I'm stretching so much my back is so tender and I feel a general pressure across my whole lower abdomen. And some lightening crotch to top it off! Haha!
