Hi, just found out after a long time trying! Haven't really told anyone yet so thought some ladies in the same position might want somewhere to share symptoms/stories/worries. Doesn't feel real yet and that 12 week scan seems a loooooong way off!! 😂

@IslayBrigid Yep I was like this with DD1 which is why it took us a while to decide to try again. This time round it’s unreal though. All I kept down yesterday was a Belgian bun, I miss food so much!! Fingers crossed this one is a girl too, boys scare me 😂

Do we have a list with everyone’s EDD on it?

Mrs71 · 06/02/2020 12:04

@IslayBrigid This is my first but keep thinking I'm having a boy because of all these theories. 😂 x

Vialarooski · 06/02/2020 12:04

Hi everyone, I've just been catching up.
I'm in total worry mode at the moment, I collected my daughter (17months) from the childminders yesterday and another little girl there had suspected slapped cheek! So naturally I went straight into panic mode. I've spoken to the midwife, they are going to check my bloods from the booking I'm appt to see if I have had the virus before which would then make me immune. But if I haven't, then I've got to have more blood taken to see if I've caught it at all. If I am not immune then there's an increased risk of miscarriage or problems with babies development and so they will keep a close monitor on me with regular weekly scans. I'm so worried. I really hope I have had it at some point so I am immune. Just as I was starting to relax 🤦🏻‍♀️😩

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 12:08

@GalaxyGirl24 I so know what you mean about getting obsessed! I try to take little breaks from Mumsnet but I also find it so good and helpful and think overwhelmingly it's positive hha. But it does help to do non-baby related things as well! Ah yes your plan with clothes sounds good! I was thinking of getting some floaty shirt dresses and wearing with tights then as it gets warmer doing similar with stretchy stuff and maxi dresses... Gosh being heavily pregnant in August is going to be fun lol 🤣 I'm 10+3 so we must are basically the same! Exciting!

@claralane haha I also hope it's another little girl for you if boys scare you! I just can't wait to find out. I've always imagined having girls but I'm trying to keep my mind open as I know it could definitely be a boy! Which would also be amazing, I just can't imagine it as easily haha.

We haven't got a EDD list yet. Shall we do one? Mine is 1 September ✨

@Mammasj nothing wrong with a tribe of handsome men 💕💕💕 haha 3 of the time would always be quite fun I imagine! @Mrs71 well you might be like my friend who had two girls and not many symptoms so you never know! 💛

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 12:09

Gosh lots of typos there sorry.
*Three of the same not three of the time!

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 12:13

@GalaxyGirl24 oh yes and about the doula. I've interviewed two and think I know who I will go with! She is £800 so cheaper than many who are often about £1200. The other lady I met is £575 as she is quite new. I think it's worth doing it as sounds like you have much less chance of a traumatic birth or interventions (if you don't want them) with a doula present! They also do things like massage during the labour (if you want it) and aromatherapy which sounds dreamy to me haha . I'm petrified of having to have a c section so doing all I can to avoid xx

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 12:17

In saying that I do know C-sections can be ok (and can even be better and less traumatic) and are a blessing if there is an emergency but from what it sounds like they can be quite traumatic and take ages to recover from so I'm just going to try to prepare myself and arm myself with heaps of info and just really hope and aim for a natural water birth haha. Just hope the pregnancy is risk free and the little bean doesn't go breach as then this is harder 😬 Once you start looking there is a lot of info out there which is fab 🌷✨

Arc86 · 06/02/2020 12:45

Really enjoy reading here and hearing how everyone is getting on. My EDD is the 28th August and my dating scan is booked in for the 20th Feb when I’ll be 12 +6. Not had any private scans so both excited and really nervous. I’ve been feeling so much better over the last few weeks, still tired and the occasional bout of nausea but on the whole lots better. We plan to hold out as long as possible before we tell our families, but not sure how feasible they will be as I feel like I’m my stomach is getting more and more rounded!

GalaxyGirl24 · 06/02/2020 13:17

@IslayBrigid I was thinking to get floaty shirt dresses/cute oversized shirts and skinnies for breastfeeding (planning far too far ahead, this is why I have to stop myself) - I found myself nearly contacting nurseries for places yesterday and had to just turn my phone off.

£575 doesn't sound terrible if they truly are as good as what I've read, but not sure DH would agree with me lol. I'm a very physical/tactile person so I love massages/aromatherapy/reflexology etc! He's already a bit iffy about the pram I want 🤦🏾‍♀️ again, thinking very far ahead, need to pass 12 weeks first.
Also yes I'm 10+4 today and dying to tell people.

I would love a water birth but hoping I'm risk free! All blood tests so far are fine, will do NT and bloods for Trisomy 13/18/21 at 12 week scan 20/2/20- fingers crossed all is well physically.

Also C sections are so much more advanced now aren't they, my mums scar from me was huge but nowadays the incision and planning is much better. Although both my friends with kids had traumatic c sections due to complications/infection after !

GalaxyGirl24 · 06/02/2020 13:19

@Arc86 my EDD is 30/08/20 but may change after 12 week scan! You've done well not getting private scans, I've had four as a local place was offering them at £30 each! ...also I've told parents/closest friends but can't wait to tell work and wider friends and family

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 13:38

Hello @Arc86 I'm in the same boat, holding out for the 12 week scan! Mine is on 19 Feb, seems like that is a big scan week for a lot of us! I have definitely told a few people though haha.... only close friends and family, can't wait to tell more people after the scan and tests etc.

@GalaxyGirl24 good to know your bloods are fine! Yes I will also do those tests at the 12 week scan. I haven't had my blood results back yet. Hoping all is well!
It is in your DH's interests for you to have a wonderful birth experience free of trauma... not everyone can afford a doula but if you can make it work, I think it's worth it! Just give him a few articles to read haha. Also The Positive Birth Book by Millie Hill is excellent at setting out objective info about birth and pregnancy. I have it and it is great! Talks about the importance of a birth plan and knowing what you want, even if you do have to adjust at the time due to unforeseen circs. The way I see it, if I've researched and made a good plan, and have a doula, even if I end up having to be induced/c-section or other intervention, my research will hopefully mean I can avoid things that aren't necessary... and e.g. with a c-section you can choose to have slow delivery, and vaginal swap to give the baby good bacteria etc etc so many things to consider haha!
But yes I can relate to thinking ahead.... I was wondering today how often you bathe a baby ... and stuff like that. We just gotta get through the first trimester first don't we

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 13:40

@Arc86 my birthday is 28th August :) If baby is early she/he may be an early birthday present! xx

IslayBrigid · 06/02/2020 13:48

@Vialarooski I'm sorry to hear you are worrying! That does sound stressful... what is slapped cheek? Hoping you are immune! Even if you aren't is it slim chance you will have caught it if you didn't directly come into contact with the girl?
I never had chickenpox so am slightly scared I'll be exposed to that while pregnant... hoping when I get bloods back it will confirm I did have it and didn't notice so am immune...
Good luck, hope the results come back soon! Let us know x

Beth804 · 06/02/2020 15:45

Lovely reading everyone's news and worries 😂 think it makes everyone realise we're all pretty similar and we'd worry no matter what!

I've felt terrible this pregnancy, so much worse than last time, probs with it being twins 😬 I'm praying the sickness will ease off soon!

My EDD at the mo is 25th Aug and I've finally got my scan date which is the 12th, so not too long to wait!! Same day as yours I think @Zm2019

Arc86 · 06/02/2020 17:11

@IslayBrigid that would be an amazing incentive to push if things got going for you on the 28th!

@GalaxyGirl24 I’m always getting ahead of myself too! I inspect nurseries as part of my job and I’ve been so temped to apply for a place in the good ones I’ve been in.

GalaxyGirl24 · 06/02/2020 17:23

@IslayBrigid that book sounds really interesting, I've never even heard of a vaginal swap? Tbf, DH would support me in whatever I chose to do but I do need reigning in often because I will go all out on everything rather than prioritising the areas that we should be focusing money on! My sister is very spiritual also and has today been mentioning things that she would want to support with that sound similar to doula support...and my mum is a nurse in the hospital I'd be (hopefully, if no complications) giving birth at so I know I'd be well supported.

Funny you should speak about bathing a baby as I bought a baby bath the other day (Shnuggle bath with stand) that brings the bath to waist height in case I end up with c-section so I won't have to bend. 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Beth804 best of luck for your scan on the 12th, so exciting that it's so soon !!!!! 🌟🌟🌟

@Arc86 I completely get that, I work across a lot of different schools and nurseries as part of my role so I'm always noting things in my head 😂

KittieKath · 06/02/2020 17:27

@Lucy5546 hello! My scan is on the 25th too! Though I must have ovulated late the cycle we conceived, I had positive OPKs almost 5 days later than usual, and when I had a private scan at what I thought was 7+2 I was told I was 6+3. Did see a heartbeat though!

So am now about 7+5 - due on the 19 September. My brother and sister-in-laws birthday!

also mostly symptomless, though tired and got huge tender boobs!

I am also dreading a long hot summer heavily preggo - uuuurrggggg.....

ml01omm · 06/02/2020 17:35

Hi everyone

I had my 12 week scan today. All is okay ( much of a relief as my symptoms just disappeared overnight 2 weeks ago).

However I am very confused. The dated me as 13 weeks to the day. But my LMP was 12 weeks ago to the day. How is that even possible?

Mammasj · 06/02/2020 18:24

@ml01omm That's totally normal as it goes by the size of the baby. So baby is just that big bigger. With my second baby, they dated me almost 2 weeks further along than I calculated and I knew exactly when I had my last MP and ovulated! Lol xx

Mammasj · 06/02/2020 18:30

By the way I went 10 days over with him and he was born 10lb 7oz 😣🤣 but worth every bit of it, he's absolutely perfect. Same happened with my first son (who was also very long and born 9lb 10oz!) 😂😂 xx

Minniemee · 06/02/2020 19:52

@ml01omm this is exactly the same as me!! I went for the scan on what I thought was exactly 12 weeks but they say I was 13 weeks and 1 day which technically takes me before my last period! So if I count two weeks from the start of the 13 weeks 1 day then I would have to have ovulated around 2 days after my period, although my temperature never spiked until 12 days after (I use the basal thermometer)

Minniemee · 06/02/2020 19:54

@Mammasj so is it possible that the sonographers at your 12 week scan can be a few days ahead on when you did actually conceive because the baby is measuring slightly bigger?

Zm2019 · 06/02/2020 20:07

@beth804 yes we have the same scan date and currently I am due a day a head if you 24th August.

Mammasj · 06/02/2020 20:22

Yes that's right @Minniemee You may find that when you have your 12 week scan, they put you ahead of what you thought, or maybe a few days behind. It totally depends on baby size and some people grow bigger babies than others. I was discussing this exact thing with the Sonographer on Saturday because all mine have measured ahead of my actual dates by the 12 week scan. Xx

Minniemee · 06/02/2020 20:33

@Mammasj thank you for that!! I was so confused as we had two early scans which both put me exactly where I thought then was just so surprised that my 12 week scan took me 8 days further on than that, which like I mentioned would have meant I ovulated almost the day I finished bleeding even though my temperature didn't rise until day 12 as I logged it in my app. I'm guessing my due date won't now change from the dating scan even if it was just that baby was measuring a little bigger?
