Hi, just found out after a long time trying! Haven't really told anyone yet so thought some ladies in the same position might want somewhere to share symptoms/stories/worries. Doesn't feel real yet and that 12 week scan seems a loooooong way off!! 😂

Congratulations @Bert2020 that must feel amazing! ⭐️

Hello ladies, mind if I join? BFP yesterday at 9dpo, baby #2. Didn't expect it at all as we only just started trying... still in shock.

Beth804 · 19/12/2019 21:27

Hi @Peanutty86 I think we were over on another thread together - glad to see you here!

Hi

Please can I join this group - and I need to some reassure as feeling very alone and confused right now.

I got a positive test on 18/12, after being 7 days late. It was a big surprise, and I was not expecting it.

I phoned my GP today, got through to the receptionist who told me to self serve with the booking in clinic? I phoned the clinic, where the woman took my name, address and date of last period, and then hurried me off the phone and told me there would be a letter in the post.

What do I do now? Should I be taking some kind of vitamins? What if the pregnancy test was wrong?

Also, what if I have problems or heavy bleeding between now and week 8 - 10?

Sorry for all the questions, I genuinely feel completely at a loss as to what I should be doing and no one to talk to.

I don't really have any symptoms yet which is what is making me question whether the test was correct.

Bert2020 · 19/12/2019 21:50

@Beth804 that’s brilliant, I’m hoping that although the gap is far bigger than we hoped it will be good for us.
@GalaxyGirl24 absolutely! Completely stunned and thankful it’s finally happened.

f00k · 19/12/2019 22:05

@ml01omm congrats on your BFP! Your local midwifery team should be in touch soon to arrange your booking appointment. This usually happens around 8-10 weeks. If you have any bleeding before then contact your GP or the EPAU at your local hospital. Take folic acid if you're not already or get some pregnancy vitamins which have you covered for everything including folic acid and vitamin D.

Peanutty86 · 20/12/2019 07:21

@Beth804 yes that's right. Can't believe we're here!!

Peanutty86 · 20/12/2019 07:27

@ml01omm congratulations! I found the first few weeks very frustrating, my midwife didn't get in touch until I was 7 weeks which I found too long and I felt no one cared about my pregnancy, if everything was ok... I'm originally from Germany and pregnancy care is a different level there so had to get used to it here first. And I'm sure everybody here will help as much as they can with any questions you might have, or whenever you feel anxious or worried. Pregnancy is exciting but equally terrifying. When I was pregnant with ds1 I tried to be as positive as possible and I'll try the same this time around.

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 07:36

How do people cope with the waiting and the uncertainty - I've been waiting for a BFP for several months for baby #1 but now it's here I'm:

1.) panicking because I'm still due AF on 23rd and keep thinking I'll come on and it's all been a CP/MC

2.) feeling like everything and every day is going super slow and that nothing is happening. Symptoms are minimal and have I made the whole thing up.

3.) simultaneously desperate and terrified for an early scan to see something. But also worried they won't.

DH is in a happy bubble but I keep thinking of all that could go wrong 🤦🏾‍♀️

Tink2007 · 20/12/2019 07:40

Anyone else have a permanently dry mouth?

Peanutty86 · 20/12/2019 08:06

@GalaxyGirl24 my approach was and now again is 'why would it go wrong?' There is no reason to believe that the pregnancy won't continue. Try get in a positive mindset. Once you've had the second line, the worrying starts and it will last until the day you die. It's about finding a way to deal with it and make peace with the fact that this is all normal.

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 08:11

@Tink2007 no, but I have had heartburn and a gross taste in my mouth each morning (not metallic though)

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 08:12

@Peanutty86 I know, I keep telling myself that the more I worry the more negative an effect it will have on my body! I think I'll feel a lot better when AF date comes and goes 🤞🏽

AAA89 · 20/12/2019 10:31

Congratulations everyone 🥳
@GalaxyGirl24 I'm currently 4+6 my period was due 5 days ago but I still worry lol my BFPs were faint so I got another test yesterday and the line was a lot darker, that reassured me a little bit. Since having my first DD I worry all the time, think it's just part of being a mum :)

@Tink2007 me! I'm constantly drinking because of it which makes me go to the toilet more lol currently suffering with the cold aswell which doesnt help

@ml01omm try not to worry it's normal, you dont see the midwife untill after 7 weeks unless there are other reasons. If you are worried at all because something happens you can phone your GP, the first few weeks are a bit lonely but once you see your midwife everything will start to feel more real :)

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 11:03

Thanks @AAA89 - I am a natural born worrier so that's probably part of it 😂 gosh I wish it'd hurry up to AF due date so I can see if I come on or not and continue to get BFPs

AAA89 · 20/12/2019 11:33

@GalaxyGirl24 I'm sure you will be just fine, first 12 weeks is very stressful and this is my 4th pregnancy already have 2 DDs
if only we had the ability to fast forward time 😂😂

f00k · 20/12/2019 14:15

I completely know how you feel @GalaxyGirl24. Apart from sore boobs every now and then and a BFP, I feel like it's not quite real yet! This period of time where it feels like not much is happening can be so stressful. And the stress never stops until baby arrives. At least in my experience anyway. I felt like I was worried all the way through my last pregnancy. I just want time to fast forward and get to 12 weeks already.

Minniemee · 20/12/2019 14:47

Hi there,

Hope you don't mind me joining - I am 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and had an early scan yesterday due to pain which has all been ok!

First pregnancy and absolutely bricking it whilst being ridiculously excited.. anyone else feel like this?!

Congratulations to all you mummas to be xx

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 15:08

@Minniemee welcome 😊 I think I am still just 4 weeks so I get what you mean about it feeling completely unreal. I still have to make it to 23rd without an AF which is when it is due so in panic mode at the moment! Glad your scan went well, bet it was reassuring!

What does the baby look like at 6 weeks?

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 15:09

@Minniemee also same for me, first pregnancy after TTC for what seemed like ages

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 15:10

@f00k yessss, I cannot wait for 12 weeks until I can actually tell people. I've felt a bit iffy today around midday but I wonder if that's just nerves and lack of sleep impacting as I'm still just 4 weeks! I keep looking at dates when I can get a private 6/7 week scan and then when I can tell people. I won't book anything till I make it to the 23rd without AF showing though as it's due then! 2 days and counting!

GalaxyGirl24 · 20/12/2019 15:11

@AAA89 yes I would love to fast forward to the part where the MC risk drops and if all seems so much more real! 😖 x

Minniemee · 20/12/2019 15:32

@GalaxyGirl24 have you had a positive pregnancy test then before your period is due? Keeping everything crossed for you darling!

I don't know what baby looks like on a 6 week scan as I asked the dr to turn the screen away- I was so convinced they were going to tell me it was eptopic (due to the pain and higher risk because of Endometriosis) my OH couldn't get away from work so I went with my mum. When she said all was ok I didn't want to look without my OH seeing too! We have a private scan booked tomorrow so still going to that (I went to the EPAU yday) - I'll let you know!!

How is everyone feeling in terms of symptoms?

Tink2007 · 20/12/2019 15:45

I’m feeling quite nauseous 🤢

AAA89 · 20/12/2019 16:46

@Minniemee I've had slight nausea on and off, really dry mouth and pains around my pubic bone I'm guessing it's just stretching, it feels the same as when I had spd in previous pregnancies 🤷‍♀️
