New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

As someone who has had fertility issues (19 months to conceive following very invasive laparoscopy for stage 3 endo) ending in mc and now pregnant after 27 months, I'd def tell any friends who are struggling via message first before any announcements. It's not that they'll be unhappy for you, it's just a bit of a stab in the heart at first. I liked to explain it as happy for you but sad for me. Hope this makes sense!

squirrelnutkins1 · 15/12/2019 21:09

I say via message so they don't have to fake a smile and a congrats in person. It's nice to be able to compose yourself first and then graciously congratulate x

Wayekalb · 15/12/2019 21:17

I've just had an appointment for my first consultant appointment when I'm around 15 weeks. It's made me nervous. Any one know what to expect from a consultant appointment this early on?

Lexio17 · 15/12/2019 21:25

Hi everyone!
29, EDD 17th July, 1st pregnancy
Had 7 weeks private scan 01/12
NHS 12 weeks scan 07/01
So excited!!

RedRobin7 · 15/12/2019 22:05

Thanks all for your suggestions.

I've spoken to the two friends I know will struggle. One is my oldest friend and she said she is happy for me and as we've been friends for life she wants to be part of this baby's future and thanked me for being considerate about an announcement. My other friend said she was absolutely fine and extremely happy for me and that after everything I've been through it's my time to be happy.

I'm grateful they've responded well but I'm not naive, I know they're hurting.

I know we're all different but when I lost my first baby at 12 weeks it was so hard telling people we'd had a miscarriage when they didn't even know I was pregnant. So as soon as I know I'm safely at 12 weeks I want to share my happy news, just in case things go wrong again and I never get the chance to. Hopefully that won't happen this time!

Oh and I messaged them both rather than calling/telling them in person.

Agree you’ve done the right thing to message in advance @RedRobin7

@Westiemummy81 I basically came off all social media this year as it was beginning to affect my mental health. Every pregnancy announcement resulted in me spending the day in bed bawling my eyes out (there was virtually one a week last summer). Seems extreme but it completely owned me. Haven’t lost friends per se but have really distanced myself. We won’t be putting anything on social as a result, maybe a birth announcement... if I’ve reactivated my Facebook by then !

Sprintfinish · 16/12/2019 03:11

@RedRobin7 sounds like you handled it really well, it's something a lot of people don't seem to consider.

Is anyone showing any signs of a bump yet? I'm 9 weeks and don't feel like I've changed much physically. My boobs don't seem any bigger either, although my nipples do seem to be changing. I'm reassured by my nausea but starting to worryingly bump watch.

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 07:51

I will be 9 weeks on thursday and just wish i was showing already! But im not im just bloated so much i look pregnant lol im constantly obsessing over the image of baby growing at certain weeks and i keep thinking only few more weeks and the baby is going to start getting really big.
Which worries me anyway cos of my uterus and if the baby will have a room to grow

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 07:53

Oh forgot to say my boobs are huge and still painful but only a bit which sometimes worries me. I do feel sickly now and then and tired so im reassuring myself that im still having some symptoms so hopefully all is well

Westiemummy81 · 16/12/2019 08:22

@rosamondos I so know how you feel I have been on a journey with infertility for 20 years this year since they diagnosed PCOS which immediately sent me to wanting a baby as they said I’d struggle and in that time I’ve had 11 rounds of ivf countless clomid rounds which resulted in 5 pregnancy’s (1 loss at 15w with incompetent cervix 3 chemicals and an ectopic) so I distanced myself from everyone

I really have lost friends as I’ve not coped well and it’s only those who were a bit more understanding that put up with me that I’ve stayed close with it’s just such a hard mental journey to go through

What is they say what doesn’t break you makes you stronger - let’s hope so !

RedRobin7 · 16/12/2019 08:22

@Sprintfinish and @rosamundos Thanks ladies 😊

@susie12345 Bless you, you sound so anxious. My boobs only hurt for the first couple of weeks. They're no longer sore and don't look any bigger and baby at 10 weeks was fine. So many ladies with a heart shaped uterus don't even know about it and they go on to have successful pregnancies. Your bub can fit in there just fine xx

@Sprintfinish I am just bloated all the time but apparently it was really obvious on Friday that I was pregnant because of the jumper I wore but it really is just bloat. Hoping to see a little bump forming soon!

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 09:47

@RedRobin7 thank you i am super anxious and just cant get excited about the pregnancy cos im sooooo scared! I think once im over 25 weeks i will feel better :), only another 17 weeks to go :)

I might feel better once i see the consultant but no idea when that will be

LisaxMarie · 16/12/2019 10:20

@RedRobin7 I was the same yesterday. My colleague knows about the pregnancy and she commented on the little bump I’ve got but I think it’s mostly just bloating!

I did have a little panic a couple of days ago where I didn’t have any symptoms but seems to have returned to normal now.

I’ve not had any vomiting with this pregnancy just feel sick around 5pm when I start getting hungry

How is everyone else feeling? I’m 9+3 today x

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 11:57

I cant wait to have a little bump!! I feel sick when im hungry but not been sick at all which is great, i feel tired all the time and my boobs hurt especially when i wake up. Im bloated a lot and burp a lot lol im constantly craving unhealthy and salty food

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 12:27

@squirrelnutkins1 haha i sometimes sound like Barney from Simpsons!!!!!

showmewhatyougot · 16/12/2019 17:40

All I want is literal junk/takeaway too, particularly burger king whoppers and fried chicken! (Don't like beef usually?)I'm dreading the scales. A piece of cucumber made me gag today. At least I tried

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 18:12

@showmewhatyougot have you tried the new festive burger from kfc? Oh my god its amazing! Im constantly craving fried chicken :) i just hope that after the first trimester i will start eating healthier :)

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 18:19

🤣 @susie12345

I was eating some carrot the other day and was fine and then when I had another piece I gagged and had to spit it out. Was really weird!

Has anyone had any odd emotional reactions? I burst into tears when I thought a waiter at a restaurant was going to give us a few more mins to pick our food! I didn't want him to go cus I was hungry!!!!!

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 18:30

@squirrelnutkins1 haha yeah i cry a lot! I have to say nothing like that tho, i usually have moments when im worried about the baby or when im feeling sick and feel like im struggling to cope or start panicking if im going to manage when the baby is here. I mean im only 8w+4 but im already thinking how my life is going to change. Its really exciting but also worrying.
The other day i started crying at work just cos i felt sick haha so i had to hide in toilets until i calmed down :D

Haha i wonder what the waiter must have thought :D how far along are you? Im getting confused, there are so many people on here.

showmewhatyougot · 16/12/2019 18:30

@susie12345 no not tried it yet! It looks amazing! But will definitely look into having it for lunch this week before my son breaks up for school! Wink

susie12345 · 16/12/2019 18:32

@showmewhatyougot oh you have to try it, its amazing, i want it now! :D but im home now so i cant have it. Think i will treat myself on friday after work :D

Izabela86 · 16/12/2019 18:41

I’m just craving cheese toasties!! And rice, and potatoes! No healthy foods (which is very unlike me - used to have a veg smoothie every day before I got pregnant). Oh, and definitely fancy oranges, clementines, fruit juices... smelling the orange peel is nice too. 😅 I also keep crying, yesterday I cried because my DP made the dinner, did the washing up and ironed my jumper while I was just chilling on the sofa! 😫 I’m 9+6.
Anyone has scans planned this week/before Xmas? I have the harmony test booked for Thursday (scared!)
