New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

Can i please ask all of you who already have children if you could please recommend items that you think are essentials when pregnant? Im seeing posts about maternity pillows or belly bands and im not sure if there are other things that might come in handy when pregnant? Because this is my first pregnancy i have to say im a bit lost as to what i might need? Also can you recommend any places to shop?? Thank you

lustforlife · 29/12/2019 22:34

@susie12345 thank you, congrats to you too Smile I completely understand the paranoia, I think for me it has been made worse by my nausea decreasing to almost nothing in the past couple of weeks or so. Just hoping that it's due to me coming up towards end of the first trimester?

I will probably give my midwife a call regarding the letter, she did confirm the time and date with me during my booking in appointment but just want to double check it's all booked in. Good luck for your scan on the 8th!

LisaxMarie · 29/12/2019 22:50

I’m sooo relieved that others are feeling the same way about the 12 week scan. Mine is on the 2nd Jan and I’m terrified that I’ll be told that the baby stopped developing! I mentioned it to my sister earlier and she just said I need to stay positive but it’s hard not to let those thoughts creep in

susie12345 · 29/12/2019 23:14

@LisaxMarie i know! My sister thinks im acting all crazy and paranoid and that it will all be fine, she had the best pregnancy ever 7 years ago so she just has no idea what im going through with all this worrying. I was so scared when i went for the scan on monday (was worried that there would be no heartbeat) so i was really relieved but now im anxiously waiting for another scan, its just never ending!
Your scan is in a few days! Good luck with it :)

@lustforlife i also get worried when i feel like i no longer feel pregnant, i think i had a day where i felt quite ok so was worried but since then its been a nightmare for me, i feel constantly sick now and started with bad heartburn. It should start getting better by the end of the first trimester however so you might be one of the lucky ones who starts to feel better soon :) if you are worried you can always mention it to the midwife. Lots of us have gone for a private scan as well for the reassurance :)

susie12345 · 29/12/2019 23:15

@lustforlife good luck for your scan on the 9th forgot to say and thank you :)

rosamundos · 29/12/2019 23:17

@susie12345 other than the maternity pillow, my only ‘must have’ item was new, well fitting bras! I went from a B to a D (quote a shock) and had never had to own something for bigger boobs before... I did all my Mat clothes shopping online, mainly ASOS which had some great sales. Had to re buy lots of stuff post birth though as I foolishly didn’t think about breastfeeding, so most stuff I get now has buttons down the front or is a wrap top / dress.

susie12345 · 29/12/2019 23:22

@rosamundos thank you, where is a good place for nice well fitting bras?

susie12345 · 29/12/2019 23:23

@rosamundos sorry should have added, can i just buy them anywhere or is there a shop with special maternity bras or am i just sounding completely thick? :D

RedRobin7 · 30/12/2019 09:14

@AutumnDazed Ah bless you, you sound so lovely and supportive! My DH is a good egg but he definitely wouldn't ever get up with me in the night/early hours of the morning! How did night 1 go with the new pillow? I think because I'm such a fidget I will try the U shape one first.

@Secondsop That made me laugh about shoving your husband out of bed! Mine works away a lot so I guess it's more important I'm comfortable in our bed! Sorry to hear you're still feeling so sick. Hope it eases off for you soon.

You're also right, I'll wait to see how things go once baby arrives!

@Bythelake89 That's lovely you were able to tell close family. Not long to go until your 12 week scan! Don't worry about symptoms - I don't really have any obvious ones. Headaches, constipation and tiredness.

@dragonmummy17 I've been told we should try to avoid sleeping on our backs in the second trimester, especially from 17 weeks. I'll be 14 weeks on Thursday so I'm thinking now is a good time to try to get into the habit of sleeping on my side. It's not going well though!

Welcome @Lemoss and @lustforlife 😊

@lustforlife I was so worried about the same thing as I had a MMC in 2018 and then another MC several months later but to my surprise baby was absolutely fine this time around! It was amazing! I was also worried as wasn't feeling very pregnant - I've had no sickness at all! Starting to slowly relax now that we've had that scan.

@rosamundos @susie12345 I'm still waiting for my boobs to grow 😂

12 weeks tomorrow and got another week and a bit to wait before my scan! Any one else feel like they have a permanent hangover headache 😫😫😫

AutumnDazed · 30/12/2019 09:58

Morning @RedRobin7, she found the pillow comfortable but after about an hour or two it became frustrating she couldn’t switch sides (she tosses and turns a lot). It also got quite warm after a while. I think a U shaped pillow would have been the way to go also, but trial and error and all that :)

We had our NHS dating scan this morning which dated us at 13 weeks today, with an EDD of 6th July. All seemingly okay, with an NT measurement of 2.2mm. Obviously awaiting the blood test results for further clarity on that. Next scan booked in for 18th February, where we’d be 20+1. Seems to far away!!

RedRobin7 · 30/12/2019 10:19

@Wayekalb Yes! Really struggling with headaches 😫 I'm working from home today and tomorrow so can take it easy but worrying about how I'm going to manage in the office Thurs & Fri. Last time I was in the office before Xmas I had a migraine and my colleague had to drive me home. I think I'd rather feel sick than suffer with headaches!

@AutumnDazed Great news about the scan! You're only 4 days behind me now. Shame about the pillow but it may get more comfortable over time.. maybe!

rosamundos · 30/12/2019 12:43

@susie12345 well I ended up buying nursing bras as they tend to stretch up and down several sizes given your boobs can go up a cup size or two alone on a daily basis when breastfeeding ! I also found my back measurement increased from 32 to 34 as pregnancy progressed. No underwires for me as they dig in badly. I’m a bit of a cheapskate and found v comfy bras from New Look maternity section, but I’m sure there are MUCH better brands out there others can recommend.

susie12345 · 30/12/2019 14:29

@rosamundos thank you i will check them out.

Im after a bit of advice. My sister wants to be present at scans and at birth, because i was at hers (she wasnt with the baby's father). I dont really want her there because my partner will be there and i wanted it to be our own experience. My sister is angry with me and says she will not help once the baby is here etc.
What do i do? She says im selfish.

Wayekalb · 30/12/2019 15:08

@RedRobin7 I'm a teacher so have another week off but still dreading going back. I'm sure half the school have guessed that I'm pregnant as I've suddenly just started looking dreadful at work! I'm trying to not take paracetamol but sometimes I just have to. Got a 3 year old at home and there's no rest! Hoping I get to week 13 and the fog begins to lift.

rosamundos · 30/12/2019 16:02

@susie12345 I don’t think you are being selfish, that’s your sister. That’s so unreasonable. Perhaps she needs time to calm down as saying she’ll ‘never’ help out sounds like a heat of the moment comment to me.

Just had my scan (for some reason it’s early here) and am measuring 11+3, so a day ahead with strong heartbeat, wiggling baby, and a small neck measurement (under 1mm apparently) which is obviously v positive. Have the NIPT test tomorrow but they said everything looked great so far. Very, very relieved Grin

Izabela86 · 30/12/2019 16:07

Hello! Got my harmony test results and all very low risk so very relieved indeed! We are going to have a baby girl. It suddenly just feels so real now. I will be 12 weeks tomorrow and have a private scan on Thursday! Then the NHS on 7th Jan. Still don’t want to jinx it all though, after the MMC I had earlier this year. A pregnancy after a loss is so difficult. But I’m happy that it’s all good news for everyone on this thread. How wonderful! Flowers

squirrelnutkins1 · 30/12/2019 20:41

@lustforlife mine got booked at my booking appt and I've not had a letter either. I'm assuming they won't send one with it being booked and confirmed there and then. I had a mc in April so I'm super paranoid and scared and worried and every other negative feeling!! I read today that mc rates drop dramatically from 10 weeks so that's given me a bit of comfort.

@AutumnDazed you sound a legend!!!

I've had some real bad headaches too ☹️

@susie12345 your baby your choice! Don't let your sis stress you out.

@Izabela86 congrats! X

HelenJudi · 30/12/2019 21:28

Bythelake89 thank you! Very happy I found this group!

HelenJudi · 30/12/2019 21:30

@PixieN
I was very surprised as it was my first FET that took ! Still very nervous about being excited though!

HelenJudi · 30/12/2019 21:31

Bythelake89 sorry! I'm still learning how to use this forum and tagged the wrong name Blush

HelenJudi · 30/12/2019 21:32

Draggonmummy17 Thank you! Very happy I found this group :)

HelenJudi · 30/12/2019 21:37

Hello all...
I'm still learning how to use this app so apologies if I miss tag you guys etc... it's taken me a couple of days to catch up and find the flow...!
I'm 13 weeks and 2 days now. I've had 4 scans and I'm thankful to say that the baby has been measuring pretty much spot on at everyone. I had a visibility one at 7w+5, then one at 9w+2 for reassurance then I had one at 10weeks (I was in a minor car accident so it was just to check) and then My 12 week scan was on the 19th of December and I was 11weeks and 5days. Everything looked fine and I could even see the umbilical cord! I just have the fear that something is going to go wrong... I just want to enjoy this now but I can't stop worrying! I don't have any symptoms now (except tiredness) but people are telling me that this is normal and to enjoy it whilst it lasts... does this sound right? The nausea and the sore boobs have gone over the past week or so...

Bythelake89 · 31/12/2019 10:35

Hehe, no problem @HelenJudi, welcome to the group! If you put the "@" symbol before the person's username then they'll get a notification that you tagged them Smile

@Izabela86 congrats on your good news ❤️ Can I ask a question about the Harmony test? To find out the gender, is it extra, or is it included in the basic test? I've booked the test for this week and I'm feeling apprehensive about the whole thing! I'm in Ireland and for some reason the nuchal translucency test isn't done here... So I feel I want to do some sort of screening test even though my doctor says I'm in the low risk category because of my age.

Izabela86 · 31/12/2019 12:36

@Bythelake89 they will ask you if you want to find out the sex. It’s included in the price but not everyone wants to find out so they always have to ask! I think knowing that the risk is low gives some sort of relief. I’m glad we have done that, although I’m still to go for the 12 weeks scan to check if all is good in there. Good luck!! Smile
