New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

I’m not suffering with heart burn but had a bad cough for about 4 weeks. That resulted in me busting my ribs. In absolute agony but can’t take anything to ease it! But on the bright side we’ve got our 12 week scan on Thursday 😊

OlivejuiceU2 · 28/12/2019 08:45

I’ve not had heartburn but have contracted flu and in hospital. Been incredibly unwell and looks like I might have to stay here another night.

Get your flu jab ladies..... no one wants this while pregnant, it’s a whole other thing all together.

LisaxMarie · 28/12/2019 09:10

That’s awful for you OliveJuice! I had my flu jab at the start of my cough!

dragonmummy17 · 28/12/2019 09:50

@Westiemummy81 the sonographer told us yesterday they have to be cautious about saying anything with the nt measurement as it has to be combined with the blood tests to be accurate... however she said anything above 3.5mm was a worry. They definitely would have said if she was worried about anything. I had my scan yesterday and they said they would call on Monday if they had any concerns, otherwise I would get a letter in about a week

@OlivejuiceU2 sorry you have been so poorly. I hope you get better quickly

RedRobin7 · 28/12/2019 10:26

@Westiemummy81 Lovely pics! My DH was questioning the sonographer the whole time and I think she was getting annoyed! He asked her what the neck measurement was like and she said it looked small but it doesn't mean much without the blood results. The sonographer put a print out in my notes but I didn't see it until the next day. It lists body parts, heart, abdomen says they look normal and that both hands and feet are visible. I am sure they'd say something if there was an issue!

@susie12345 Pretty sure we can take Gaviscon - I haven't needed to yet but double check. I'm still not getting up for the loo in the night and it worries me but I do wake up in the morning desperate. Seems my body just isn't waking me up to go!

@LisaxMarie Ouch! Sounds painful 😫

@OlivejuiceU2 Sorry to hear you're in hospital. That sounds awful. Most of my family are ill since Xmas so now just waiting to see if I come down with it too!

I've started worrying about what I'll do in terms of returning to work after mat leave. I don't think work need to know for a long time but it's still worrying me. I'd love to be a stay at home mum or work part time but DH thinks I'll need to go back at least 4 days a week. No idea where to start but I guess I need to just look at local nurseries and how much they cost from 12 months and work out figures/finances from there.

OlivejuiceU2 · 28/12/2019 11:18

Thanks all, doing better today. The doctor said I could of died it was that serious, I never knew it was so bad in pregnancy.

dragonmummy17 · 28/12/2019 12:39

@RedRobin7 moneysavingexpert do a really good budget spreadsheet that we used to work out our money before DS was born. I went 3 days part time which isn't easy but we don't have as many outgoings as before. Also look at childminders as they are often cheaper

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/12/2019 13:14

@OlivejuiceU2 oh goodness. So glad you're on the mend! I had mine at work thankfully x

rosamundos · 28/12/2019 20:15

@OlivejuiceU2 oh my gosh I’m so glad you’re on the mend, how scary

Mrsstarinthesky · 28/12/2019 21:40

Hi, this is my first, due 11th July, scan booked for the 4th Jan.

Is it normal not to be showing yet? I mean I’m definitely bigger but looks like Christmas podge to me! Hard to tell!

Just slightly worried as haven’t had the scan yet.

RedRobin7 · 29/12/2019 08:02

@dragonmummy17 Good to know, thank you!

@OlivejuiceU2 How scary, glad you're doing much better now xx

@Mrsstarinthesky Yes it's completely normal, especially as it's your first. I'm 13+3 and when I'm looking in the mirror with no clothes on I can tell that I look slightly different but it's not visible to anyone else and I'm still fitting into my jeans. My sister is 3 weeks ahead of me and has a huge bump already but it's her third baby!

How is everyone finding sleeping at night? I've always started off on my side and then wake up on my back. Still rolling onto my back in the night but not sure at what point. I know from the second trimester it should be avoided but I don't know how to stop myself!

HelenJudi · 29/12/2019 09:06

@RedRobin7. Thanks for telling me about this page!
I'm 32 and I have a Due date of 04.07.2020.
My 12 week scan was 19.12.2019 (I was 11 weeks and 5 days at the scan)...
This is an IVF pregnancy so I've had 4 scans now... baby has been measuring almost exact on everyone...

AutumnDazed · 29/12/2019 09:14

@RedRobin7 we are off to John Lewis later to buy a maternity pillow simply for that reason - she cannot stop rolling on to her back. Hoping that helps as she keeps waking in the night chastising herself for being in a position she has no conscious control over!

RedRobin7 · 29/12/2019 09:33

@HelenJudi Welcome to our little gang 😊

@AutumnDazed Ah let me know how you get on there. Are you thinking the U shape pillow or a long straight one? I was thinking U shape might be better to stop me rolling but could take up most of the bed. We do have a king size though so might be okay. Not sure about being unable to use my normal pillow for my head with that one though!

My DH keeps moaning about me for not doing enough recently 🙄 He should try having daily headaches and feeling exhausted!

OP posts:
AutumnDazed · 29/12/2019 09:48

@RedRobin7 eek, on behalf of husbands everywhere I apologise! Seeing what my wife is going through is an eye opener, and I’m really enjoying the late night Haribo shopping, or the making eggs on toast at 4 in the morning! It’s a team effort and I’ve got to pull my weight!

The pillow she’s going for is a Dreamgenii Maternity & Nursing Pillow (not sure if links are allowed here) so it curves between the knees, under the bump (she has the smallest of bumps now) and around the support the back. It is likely too early to need it, but she’s finding she needs back and knee support to get comfy at night, so this seems ideal.

PixieN · 29/12/2019 10:16

@OlivejuiceU2 that sounds really scary - glad things are improving.

@HelenJudi We had Ivf too. Can’t believe it actually worked as we’d been trying for a while.

@AutumnDazed you sound very supportive. My hubby has been doing the regular dash to the shops for whatever I’m craving and putting up with my moods, but not sure he’d be up at 4.00am making egg on toast lol.

Secondsop · 29/12/2019 10:50

Hello everyone, hope we are all well. I’ve not had any more of that brown spotting. You were all correct! I’m taking it as a good sign that things are happening. @Doingitagain37 I’m 44 so def not at the spring chicken end. My youngest child is 5.

Whoever was taking about mat pillows - I had one in pregnancy 1, and honestly I’d shove my husband out of bed if it meant more space for me and my pillow.

@RedRobin7 re going back after mat leave - easy for me to say but try to put it out of your mind as you won’t know how you’ll feel until the time. I was happy to go back after both mat leaves as they’d taught me that a SAHM life wasn’t for me, BUT it also taught me about the importance of keeping a good balance and this has become particularly important when my children started school and their emotional needs changed.

Meanwhile I’m still on hol, still feeling sick, having days with just me and the kids as my husband is here for work. I can manage either an afternoon/evening OR a morning/afternoon. Not both. So today we’re chilling in the hotel room till lunchtime.

Bythelake89 · 29/12/2019 10:53

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. Really glad you're on the mend @OlivejuiceU2

@RedRobin7 I might have a tiny bump now too Smile I'm at 12+4, first pregnancy. I always have a squidgy bit under my belly button, and it feels like it's filling out and has gone quite turgid. I'm thrilled! We told some close family members our news at Christmas, but not everyone as our scan isn't until the 8th of Jan. So I was wearing very baggy blouses to disguise the alleged bump (that probably only I would notice anyway Wink)

My morning sickness seems to be subsiding and my boobs aren't painful anymore. Are anyone else's symptoms lessening?

susie12345 · 29/12/2019 16:17

@RedRobin7 my sister keeps moaning about me being constantly tired and says how im going to struggle once the baby is here. However when she was pregnant she was constantly sleeping. Urgh wish people would be more supportive, its not easy growing a human.

dragonmummy17 · 29/12/2019 17:03

@Bythelake89 my symptoms have been less recently but today are back with a vengeance... I've been sick and so tired. Luckily DH is home today to help with DS... tomorrow I'm on my own!
@Secondsop glad the spotting has stopped
Hi @HelenJudi welcome to the thread and congratulations

What is the latest guidelines for sleeping on your back... I thought it was only a worry in the 3rd trimester? I have a dream genii in the attic and it was a lifesaver last time... I must find it!
I bought a belly band today... my lower stomach is bigger so my work trousers don't do up properly but I'm not ready for maternity wear yet. At home I'm just wearing lots of elasticated trousers!

StephS1984 · 29/12/2019 17:46

@dragonmummy17 I got a bump band before Xmas and wore it today for the first time and it felt amazing to wear my own jeans in comfortable, as have a tiny bump, which maternity jeans would swamp.

@Bythelake89 my boobs are starting to not be as painful as they were too.

Lemoss · 29/12/2019 19:00

Can I join? I'm a bit late to the table but due July 22 2020, first scan on 16.1.20. Its my first pregnancy and I'm 30. Was too paranoid to join until now!!

lustforlife · 29/12/2019 21:52

Hi all, I'm late to the party but hope it's ok to join!

I am currently 11+1 and due July 18th based on LMP. I had an early scan at 7 weeks and was put back a week and instead measured at 6 weeks, sonographer said all looked healthy though. It's been quite a lonely ride so far so will be nice to speak to others in the same boat! I'm extremely paranoid that I'm going to turn up to my first NHS scan on the 9th Jan and be told the baby has died. Just need to keep distracted until then

Some quick details about me - I am 23 years old and this is my first pregnancy. My partner and I have been together for nearly 8 years, I think we are both still in a state of denial!

lustforlife · 29/12/2019 21:59

Also, I haven't had my letter through confirming my 12 week scan, even though the midwife booked it in for me during my booking in appt. How soon did everyone get their letter through? Confused

susie12345 · 29/12/2019 22:23

@lustforlife welcome and congrats on your pregnancy. I would say i am in a similar boat as you, i am 10w+3 today, i have a 12 week scan on 8th jan and i am also massively paranoid to be told the same thing as you, im trying not to think about it and everytime i have a twitch down there i just reassure myself its the baby growing, although who knows. I never got a letter, it was done online and i just somehow got it online where it asked me to accept it so i did, i dont think i will get a letter but im just going to go and im sure its all booked. You can call your midwife and they can probably check and make sure its all been booked i think?

I have to say i think i will be massively relieved if everything goes well at the 12 week scan, i hope i will be able to relax a bit then :)
