@barnyb I've had horrendous back ache (right at the bottom) for the last week, nothing seems to help apart from a hot water bottle or bath! Hope everyone had a nice Christmas xxx

MockingJay27 · 26/12/2019 19:28

I haven't had any back ache but I'm only 28 weeks today. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas, our baby girl got more presents than us and she isn't even here yet Grin

barnyb · 26/12/2019 20:10

Hey guys ! happy Christmas to you both too!
I just looked online and it says that 30 weeks is common time to get lower back ache. I think it’s the weight of the bump! Also my bump has gotten a lot bigger in the last week so not surprised. @maria94 I haven’t got a hot water bottle but might be something I need to invest in!
Also guys are you getting a big ball soon? Xxx

maria94 · 26/12/2019 21:13

@barnyb I definitely would recommend getting one!! And yes I got a ball the other week, actually as I heard it was meant to help with back ache! It definitely takes the weight off your feet and is very comfy haha. Has the tiredness hit you like it's hit me?😫 I am exhausted!!! Xx

MissPepper8 · 26/12/2019 21:14

Merry Christmas everyone, I was 28 weeks on Christmas day so officially 3rd tri now :)

We had a rough one lol.. My DS was very unwell, but can't believe well be a four next year. Its mad, just not sinking in.

barnyb · 26/12/2019 21:25

@maria94 ah fabulous! I will deffo get a hot water bottle and I will deffo be getting the ball soon then! Haha. I always think the bill is for people who are really far gone. But we are 30 weeks so I guess that’s us!! Iv been feeling lots better this week but iv been off work so I guess it’s not a true representation of how I would really feel! last week before I finished for Xmas I was soooooooo tired it was awful ! It made me feel ill. Xxx

barnyb · 26/12/2019 21:25

@MissPepper8 sorry your son was poorly! So many people have been poorly over Xmas. Such a shame! Bless xxxxx

MissPepper8 · 26/12/2019 22:29

@barnyb Thank you hun, yeah my whole family has been poorly on a Christmas day. My little guy was bad mind, Christmas eve he was over 40 temp. I'm gutted because he understood santa this year, but he was so good. Never mind always next year for him :).

Hope you had a lovely Christmas xx

whiskersonkittenss · 27/12/2019 09:20

Is anyone else getting anxiety about being a parent? This is my first baby. Every time I think about him being here, I have a second of happiness then it's "oh shit what am I doing? I'll be crap at this, I've made a huge mistake".
I'm 31 years old and feel like such a twat.

atomcats · 27/12/2019 11:03

@whiskersonkittenss my ‘party line’ since getting pregnant has been half excited, half terrified! I think at the moment with feeling more and more pregnant (bump getting bigger, breathlessness, dizzy, tiredness creeping back etc etc) it’s making me more terrified of what is actually going to happen and whether or not I’ll be any use to anyone (bar growing the baby...). My biggest fear if I’m honest is post natal depression. My mum had it with me and my brother and I’ve had my own difficulties with low mood and stress so I worry about what the added hormones will do. Then I also worry that I won’t have it but will ‘just’ be a rubbish mother so I’m not sure which is better really...! I know it’s probably one of those things where instinct will kick in and things will settle etc etc but at the moment when I stop to think about what happens after the 23rd of March (because of course all babies arrive in their due date...) I feel very lost and overwhelmed. I’m dreading New Years Day in a way as I feel like that’s when reality will hit with full force! At the moment the baby is due next year, but next week it’s suddenly this year...

I’m not sure if my ramble was as helpful as I first intended it to be Hmm

barnyb · 27/12/2019 12:12

@whiskersonkittenss I’m also worried about depression. Iv suffered with ocd for a number of years. Also iv had a few down times in my adult life. So that’s definitely a huge worry for me too.
Every now and then I get a huge overwhelming feeling of dread run over my body. Just all of a sudden. Worried about nothing at all! I think it’s only natural to worry. We are all going through so much ! And so much to come! The excitement and the worry of money and health of baby!
I think we all need to give ourself a big non patronising pat on the back because we’ve all done so well to get to this very point !
Xxxxxxxx

MissPepper8 · 27/12/2019 15:10

@whiskersonkittenss Try not to worry Whiskers, you'll be amazing and once you meet baby it all goes away, and it just becomes natural to have baby there with you.

This is my second, I can't remember having anxiety with my first changing things, but he was a rainbow baby and if anything I think I was more worried about miscarrying.

This baby, I just have thoughts on how well cope with two, especially as we've hit terrible twos lol.. I did get depressed after my first as I had a bad birth experience, and even before we tried this time I worked myself up about the outcome of this ones birth but I've read an amazing book that helped me come to terms with it.

It's totally normal to feel how you do though but you'll be amazed how easy everything is when they're tiny :) x

barnyb · 27/12/2019 17:25

Guys I got the hot water bottle and I got the big bouncy ball! Back is getting bad again ! Wish me luck! It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm hoping for a good night sleep tonight so I can go out for a nice hot drink and a trot at some point !
Also been up all night with aching legs at the mo too!
Iv been trying to sleep on left side as much as I can but when my legs are bad I have to go on right. Midwife says it's absolutely fine to go right side but iv read so many things saying left side only ! I'm paranoid to go on right unless I absolutely have to!
Xxxxx

MissPepper8 · 27/12/2019 17:30

@barnyb Have you got a pregnancy pillow hun? I bought a Dreamgenii pillow about 8 weeks ago now because I couldn't get comfy and my back and bump hurt and it's literally the best thing I did. I find if I don't use it my bump aches but I even take it on my sofa in the evening if my back hurts x

Jesskir89 · 27/12/2019 17:33

@whiskersonkittenss I think it's perfectly normal. I like @barnyb also suffer ocd and have done since I can remember and although I don't get depressed I feel my ocd is my way of coping. None of us will be perfect and we will all make mistakes along the way but we will get there :) hope you have a lovely birthday @barnyb

atomcats · 27/12/2019 18:29

@barnyb NHS says left or right side is fine so sleep on whichever is comfortable!

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/tiredness-sleep-pregnant/

Strangely I find now that I can’t get comfortable on my right, not sure why! Although I have a memory foam topper on the mattress and while I’m sure it’s not meant to I think it has moulded to my shape on the left side!!

ineedanotherholiday · 27/12/2019 21:27

@Jesskir89 my baby shower is last weekend of jan so not too long.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!

Bought our pram in the sales, it suddenly feels real. Actually felt quite emotional and nervous beforehand especially with having mc before. Had a good push about and then packed it away up my mothers!

barnyb · 27/12/2019 21:51

@atomcats thank you :)
The nights are getting sooooo uncomfortable now!

@ineedanotherholiday congrats on the pram buying! It’s so exciting and feels so real when you finally get the pram all set up! 🤩🤭
@Jesskir89 thank you :)

whiskersonkittenss · 28/12/2019 00:04

Thanks all for the replies. Glad to hear im not alone!! I do have depressive tendencies but I am already taking sertraline, so hopefully that will help fight off PND. My mom also had that when I was born so it's another worry Sad

I bought pre mixed baby milk today for the hospital. Felt so weird. I have everything else I need, pram, cot etc but buying milk was like omg wow this is real!? Grin

Jesskir89 · 28/12/2019 09:44

@barnyb happy birthday :) @inneedofanotherholiday mines 1st Feb just after. Are you buying favours for your guests? I picked my pram up yesterday and are taking it to my mums next week, exciting isn't it :)

emmaclare83 · 28/12/2019 10:26

Hi all. Been a bit inactive so jumping back in Smile

Had a scan last week to check a brain cyst (which has gone) but baby's head size was noted as being off the chart small...so more scans needed. Midwife says it's because baby is currently breech, which could explain it (and also the pain I'm feeling in my ribs, as breech babies like to head butt there!)

Just wonder if anyone else is breech, or has any experience of this. Trying desperately to avoid Dr Google as he is NOT my friend Blush

Hope everyone else is well today!

MockingJay27 · 28/12/2019 11:04

@emmaclare83 I haven't been told about position yet. The midwife at my 28 week appointment said they aren't concerned about checking that just yet as baby still moves around

barnyb · 28/12/2019 13:02

Thanks for bday messages ! Birthday is cancelled this year! Husband has woken up with aches and temperature and raging sore throat! And my back is a mess !!
We went to the midwife yesterday and the heating was on full blast in the waiting room! And all the patients spluttering and germ spreading !
How disgusting catching a virus from the doctors!
Why does nobody open any windows!
It’s vile
Xxxx

barnyb · 28/12/2019 13:03

Midwife said baby was he’s down and all was great with urine and blood pressure ! So actually that’s all I could ask for for my bday :) x
