Apologies in advance for the selfish post! Up all night and in a lot of pain.

I am 39 weeks today. I didn't have the sweep at my appointment yesterday - the midwife said she would come to my house tomorrow to do it (never heard of this? seems odd, but I guess more comfortable). BUT I've had really bad cramps all night since midnight until this morning (bad enough that I couldn't sleep through it and I have to breathe through it, really painful). The cramps come and go and I don't think there is any tightening in my belly, just really really bad cramps, worse than period ones. As soon as it stops, I feel totally normal. Are these early contractions? Could it be something else?

It’s my first so I don’t have any personal experience of contractions but probably worth a call to your midwife if you’ve been in so much pain. Are they regular? I’ve had cramps this morning but think it’s bowel related and they’ve gone.

@sadtoday21 also my first so I can’t really advise. I think phoning the midwife would’ve your best bet.

Were you able to time them and see if they were coming in a regular pattern?

Almost 12 hours of regular contractions and now absolutely nothing apart from the odd one here and there. Fed up doesn't even come close to how I'm feeling!!! Get this baby out arghhhh!! X

38 weeks today and I had an early sweep today. Im about a cm, which I expected, I guess? She thought I'm feeling it more due to my scar tissue (which I never even considered). I have one for Friday booked and she said if I didn't get help today from it, Friday might be more favourable.

Id like to say it was manageable pain lol.. I think the worse was the seperating part. Bit like having a smear, uncomfortable.

I'm just so damn tired from the pain now. Hope all the ladies with things on the move have babies soon :) x

@sadtoday21 did you speak to a midwife?
For me it felt like just a strong weird tightening across the lower abdomen/back on and off. At first 5 minutes apart then progressively getting to 3mins etc...

Today I've had another clear show at 36+4 but nothing to write home about, it's super gross!

@maria94 hello honey hope ur ok! ? Any more news since this afternoon ??? I had to go up for obs today because I had a lot of dizziness and blurred vision. Baby all fine, I was all fine too. They said it's a sudden surge of hormones most likely. Which apparently is a good sign for my body preparing . lol ! ! Yeah yeah! ......

The midwife said so when are you due? I said two days ago! And she said... "oh my! I didn't think you looked more then 30 weeks" I thought well I guess that's something nice to take from the whole situation. Back home now on the sofa eating a magnum 👍🏼 xxx

@barnyb contractions have picked back up since this afternoon, more regular and painful woo! Went to hosp to get checked because I feel like things aren't progressing and they said I'm in latent labour and this could go on for up to 4 days! Not so woo! But, I'm 2 days down and another sweep on Friday if worst comes to worst. At least things are happening and baby is happy which is the most important!
How are you? Is your sweep tomorrow?? I hope it gets things going! Glad everything was ok at the hospital Xx

Oh you poor thing !! Are you able to sleep and rest well with the contractions going?? I still don’t know what it feels like to have one so I’m dying to know. Are you able to continue your day? Cleaning, bath, cook etc? or are you confined to the sofa? I hope you don’t go on for day’s on end! yes sweep tomorrow morning so we will see how that goes! Eek! It’s all happening 👍🏼😊

@barnyb it feels like someone is squeezing me so tightly around my back/bottom of my bump, real intense pressure. I have to breathe through them and it's impossible to move into a comfortable position. The shower really helps though. They died down last night around 11pm and same tonight so I'm able to sleep, woke up a few times in pain but wasn't too bad. I just wanna get on with it!! Let me know how your sweep goes, hopefully things move a lot quicker for you!!☺️ Xx

Anyone else not sleeping at all? I've been in bed since 8 with painful braxton hicks, now sat up in bed eating low fat digestives that taste shit....

@Jesskir89 🙋‍♀️ can’t switch off tonight at all. I’ve stayed up really late watching Love is Blind. Also opened the chocolate hob nobs we bought for baby visitors and had 4. I just about managed to talk myself out of eating the whole packet!

@maria94 oh gosh nope deffo nothing that iv experienced yet ! Sounds not great 👍🏼. I said to my mum I think my body just hasn’t got a clue what to do so that’s why I’m going so late lol. Maybe your the same with all the stopping and starting 😫
Will let you know how the sweep goes! Hopefully you message back this morning saying u had to go to hospital and she’s here! 🤩

@Jesskir89 iv been getting up at 2am every night and staying awake until 5/6am and then sleeping until 9am for the past week or so. It’s not great! What iv started doing is putting a pregnancy meditation on YouTube and putting headphones on and that helps me to fall asleep.
@fibeee lol iv got loads to catch up on love is blind but it’s good isn’t it! also we totally also got baby visiting snacks! French fancies and a chocolate log!! 🙃 Had to replace said chocolate log once already xx

@fibeee I ate half the pack lol @barnyb sounds just like me! I was up at 4 the other morning playing online bingo, I won some money though lol. Good luck for your sweep today x

Hi ladies! Baby boy is here at 6.8 lbs, 2.5 hours of natural labour just gas and air. They let me get to 8 cm with only one paracetamol that was the worst part 😂. It was incredible and I’m in awe of him!

@barnyb definitely! Our bodies just need a little time to get to grips with what's going on 😂 been up all night with contractions, I'm glad they've not come to a complete halt but also not getting into a regular pattern. Hoping today is the day! Xx

Hello all. had a sweep a few hours ago. Wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Probably because iv had internal exams in the past which involved a whole hand and nearly up to elbow situation 😂🙈
anyway midwife said cervix was low and open and very soft and she could feel baby's head! So couldn't ask for any better really! Saying that, I know it's only a small chance it's going to have worked. Feeling teenie bit crampy but nothing noticeably different. No bleeding or plug seen either. Maybe tonight? 🤞🏼
