Anybody else experiencing bad period like pains? I've had them on and off throughout my pregnancy but they have been exceptionally bad today!

Jesskir89 · 20/01/2020 18:30

@NailQueen9 I'm a few days behind you but haven't packed that much yet although my mum bought me my toiletries yesterday :) @maria94 not since round ligament pain have you spoken to your midwife?

MissPepper8 · 20/01/2020 20:02

@maria94 Yeah I have, I went into hospital today to be monitored as I was having really hard braxtons with period pains going into my back.

So I had markers in my wee, ketonesx3 and something that could be sign of infection or if it comes back OK, it might be irratable uterus causing the pain and tightenings.

Is babies head very low down for you? I said to her I could feel baby head down and Dr could feel babies head very low, she said this could be another thing causing the pain (and in my case these braxtons cause its irratated). If it carries on don't leave it like I did, it could be a water infection.

maria94 · 20/01/2020 20:44

@MissPepper8 oh no hope you're ok, sounds rough! I'm not sure if babies head is low, I feel a lot of pressure down there but I've not been told by anyone if she's low or not. Annoyingly the past few times I've had my wee checked it's come back 'boardline' or showing a very slight infection but it always seems to clear by the time they re check it a few days after. I will keep an eye on it. Thank you X

@Jesskir89 I have a midwife appointment this week so was hoping to wait till then! X

MissPepper8 · 20/01/2020 21:46

@maria94 I'm ok, my mum and DH hassled me to go, I'm just really sore and tired. Yeah, she said today discharge can do that. So might be that's interfered with your sample? I can feel head wiggling lol, hiccups in my pelvis.

Definitely mention to mw, I rang mine and she said to ring ward.

Jesskir89 · 22/01/2020 19:10

How's everyone getting on, not heard off a few for a while x

DaniX91 · 22/01/2020 19:13

@Jesskir89 hey, how are u doing? I'm currently on the sick with a chest infection and sciatica ☹️ not sure if I'll make it back to work, might have my maternity leave forced to start at 36 weeks x

barnyb · 22/01/2020 20:28

@Jesskir89 hello lovely. How are you!
I’m doing ok. I finish work next week thank goodness because I’m struggling now! I’m 34+ 3 today and belly is feeling really uncomfortable. Everyone keeps saying how tidy my belly is and how neat ! But I feel huge !
Bad back and sciatica! Aching legs at night and baby movements are becoming painful and awkward.
But oh my goodness how exciting !!!!

Xxxx

barnyb · 22/01/2020 20:30

@DaniX91 hope you feel better soon! Sciatica is horrible isn’t it. Iv actually suffered with it for the last few years and a good deep tissue massage on the sore area does help. Even though it’s painful xxxx

Jesskir89 · 22/01/2020 20:41

@daniX91 sorry to hear that hun hope you're doing OK. Do work have a good sick pay scheme etc? That's my only worry if I need any time off before mat leave I won't get paid for it. @barnyb wow over 34 weeks!!! How fast it's gone. I'm 32 weeks on sat :) jesous of you going on mat leave next week I've got 5 weeks to go lol. Glad you're doing OK although understandably uncomfortable xx

atomcats · 22/01/2020 21:08

@DaniX91 my understanding is that it only triggers mat leave if it’s pregnancy related and it’s more then a few days. Although I. Not sure if that’s general guidelines or specific to the job... either way, hope you feel better soon!

I had an exciting afternoon at the maternity unit due to reduced movements. Luckily all is well and baby is definitely making up for their quiet time this evening!

DaniX91 · 22/01/2020 21:36

It's awful @barnyb sorry to hear that u also suffer with it. I'll have to look into the massage! I've been referred to physio but who knows how long that will take! Bet u can't wait to finish work. Am I right in thinking you're a teacher? I'm a TA in reception class so I was really struggling with my back, then the chest infection topped it off!x
@Jesskir89 I'll get full pay whilst I'm on the sick which is really good, I'm lucky to have that. Can u believe how close we all are now?!x
Aw I'm pleased to hear that everything is ok with baby @atomcats it's so worrying isn't it. Just preparing us for the life we have ahead ha. If it's pregnancy related (my sick note says pregnancy related sciatica) then maternity is forced to start at 36 weeks. I'm planning on leaving when I'm 38 weeks but I'll just have to see how I am, suppose it's only 2 weeks difference. I don't know if that rule applies everywhere but I know that's how it is in my school x

MockingJay27 · 22/01/2020 22:21

Hi Everyone just catching up, I've started getting bits for hospital bag. Just need to wash baby clothes ready to go in.

I have a 32 week scan tomorrow which is routine with my medical history. I don't think she is head down just yet can feel a lot of pressure around my ribs.

@sadtoday21 I have gained 18 pounds at 32 weeks, not too bad but my goal of 25 seems unlikely now probably more like 30. How about you?

Jesskir89 · 22/01/2020 22:22

@daniX91 that's a less sorry for you at least :) I've also heard acupuncture can be good I'm going to try it for lower back pain I asked my midwife to look into it with another midwife yesterday. Not long at all now x

sadtoday21 · 23/01/2020 00:00

@MockingJay27 we are so close in dates! I’m 33 weeks tomorrow and also hoping to go for a scan soon to check on baby. Hope your scan goes well tomorrow! Will you let me know how it is? I’m curious what scans are like this late, my last one was at 28 weeks which feels far too long ago now. I’ve gained a little over 14 lbs last I checked, so very close to you! Was also hoping to stick to 25, we will see if it slows down or speeds up now!

Jesskir89 · 23/01/2020 06:53

@mockingjay27 I've also got my 32 week growth scan today :) good luck and let me know how you get on x

atomcats · 23/01/2020 07:35

Hope everyone’s scans go well. I have one at 34 weeks to check my placenta has moved. I’m also really curious as to what the scan will look like given that baby is so much bigger! Silly thoughts like “will it fit on the screen? Or will it just be a shot of it’s eye or hand?” haha. As has been demonstrated throughout my pregnancy, my understanding of how things work is very limited...!

MissPepper8 · 23/01/2020 10:33

How's everyone getting on, not heard off a few for a while x

Yeah, been thinking of you @Dinosauraddict hope you and baby are all ok xx

MissPepper8 · 23/01/2020 10:38

@atomcats Haha from what I remember baby is very squished, it's why they cut off for 4d scans is around 34 weeks I think?

I had my growth scan at 39+5 weeks with DS and you could see everything, but squished hands by face and awkward position. Ive got one at 32+4 and one at 36+4 this time (I'm not quite sure why so many).

Dinosauraddict · 23/01/2020 11:34

Hey everyone! Thanks for tagging me @MissPepper8 for some reason I hadn't been able to locate this thread for a month or so and it had disappeared off my 'threads you are on' bit!! Updates from my end - currently 33+2, signed off work due to HG, polyhydramnios and various other complications. (GD is doing my head in.) baby is huge (abdominal circumference is literally off the chart). They're intending to induce at 38 weeks, but I'm high risk of prem labour so we're a bit in limbo atm! How's everyone else? XThanks

Ladies, what are you all planning to wear in labour?

Jesskir89 · 23/01/2020 17:38

Hi all, back from my scan and I've got to rescanned in a week as my amniotic fluid is higher than it should be and baby Has moved up to 90th centile. Not sure what any of this means as they fobbed me off basically....

MockingJay27 · 23/01/2020 19:03

@Jesskir89 hope everything is ok.

My 32 week scan was ok, baby measuring 4.5 pounds already, she is currently lying transverse so I have to be rescanned at 36 weeks. If she hasn't moved by 37 I'll be admitted to hospital for monitoring until I can have a section because of the risk of cord prolapse. But finger crossed she will move. She is very active but always in the same place.

Jesskir89 · 23/01/2020 19:28

@mockingjay27 that's how big my baby is have the said what centile they've put you in? Try doing some yoga moves to help move baby x
