I've just spend my first week free of crippling fatigue. However I'm starting to feel fat around the middle. Time to get maternity jeans, I think....

Well, Bump didn't throw the second breakfast at me, so after a sleep I went for the scan, it was lovely to see Bump and tell him/her off! The scanner laughed at me when I asked him/her why the sickness has got so much worse!

Anyway, off to have another sleep, totally shattered! Thank you to everyone who agrees I shouldn't have gone to work this morning. I think it was the right move.... xxxxx

Ooo congrats JackBlackRoady. It's so lovely isn't it? My 2 best moments in my whole life were 1)when my DP asked me to marry him, and 2)seeing that little fetus wiggling away on the screen. So glad it went well for you.

Welcome Seaturtle. I hope your baby is born on May 1st as it's birthday will be May day every year and so it will be off school/work! I'm hoping mine will be born early on May 1st hehe.

Thanks everyone for your kind words about my worries. This thread has been most valuable to me at this time, and I seem to be getting over my fears. Particularly as DP is taking such good care of me and trying his best to address my worries. You all gave such good advice, and I'm sure I will manage once the baby's here. It's just all the worrying about not being a good mum, leading up to the actual birth.

Has everyone started buying for bump? I was 12 weeks yesterday so DPs taking me to Asda, Tesco and Next baby departments when I finish work tonight so that I can get a couple of bits. Everyone has bought us loads and it's already filled once quarter of the room, so we're having to get storage boxes already!!

Hayley - we didn't really start getting bits for DS until I was past 20 weeks. People had started getting / giving us stuff though. I didn't buy many clothes at all though for the new born stage - people gave us so much esp my best friend who had a little boy 9 months before DS so that was v useful!

seaturtle - hello! glad you are feeling a little better. I must confess i'm in mat jeans now, actually i'm pretty much in mat clothes now but only because i've got some from the first time round and they NEED to be worn!

hayley - so glad you are feeling supported. As someone else said mumsnet mumsnet mumsnet. Only other bit of advice i would give is that if you are feeling a bit fragile posting on some of the more contentious threads can sometimes be a bit of a baptism by fire. esp the bf/ff feeding ones. Come on here and ask us all first. there are a few mners out there with strong opinions, although there are a few bf specialists if you do decide you want to go down that route and have any problems. Also good is to go onto the post natal threads for people a few months ahead of us and see if anyone on there has had a similar problem / quandry / question and have a look how they resolved it. but ask us first

if anyone is interested and in the london area or able to collect it from the south london area i'll have a mountain buggy urban elite in navy that i need to be rid of come may time. it's a bit battered and well used so £100 would make it yours - it's got a rain cover, a sun cover, a lovely fleecy sleeping bag, and a canvas carry bag for travelling. o'h and it's got the shopping basket underneath and the supportive inner liner so it's really comfortable for the lo! we are getting a p&t as we will have 2 dc's (fingers crossed) by then.

o'h and our other news - don't know if i said this last week - is that we are to prepare for a 30 week birth, so that would put me in early march, but as i have no idea when lo will be born (like with ds) i'm going to stay here with you if thats ok? my bp is really quite high and the consultants think i may get pre eclampsia earlier than last time.

anyway, enough rambling from me!

sorry haven't been on for a while. Had my Aunty's funeral last week, took it out of me a bit, emotionally etc. My poor Daddy's face as they buried his sister .

On the plus side, my nausea seems to have settled....yipee!

Have now told people at work, I am now 13 weeks +3. It's nice to be able to relax a bit now.

Been discussing double buggies vs buggy boards with my childminder, who has used both. Apparently double buggy is the way to go!!

Scan went well yesterday, although I feel really sore from being prodded and poked for 40 mins non-stop.

They're trying to put my dates back one week to 11th May, but I don't believe them in the slightest so am going to take no notice. With DD they put my dates back 2 weeks then she ended up being born 10 days early - so it's all guess work at the end of the day.

Feeling really emotional and just want to cry a lot - but as I'm sitting here at work I'd better try and keep it together!

Had my scan yesterday and all's well. Been given due date of 9th May so I've updated the list, and also added seaturtle - welcome. DD's due date was also the 9th (of august) and was born on the 19th so think i'm expecting this one to arrive around the 19th too.

Hello there, can I join in?

Had my scan today and have an EDD of 9th May. Was superstitious about joining before due to mmc last year, but looks like all is fine so far with this one.

Hi - have also been lurking and waiting for that magic 13-weeks to pass before posting.
I have a DS who is 2yrs 9 months and my EDD is 5th May, so am 13 weeks+1
whispers very softly I guess I am one of the lucky few who didn't get any morning sickness which was the same when I was expecting DS, but, (swings and roundabouts and all that) suffering with piles later nearly did me in!
I have had an early prgnancy scan, which was lovely because I got pictures as well as a DVD and also had a Nuchal Fold scan last week - all is well for now, so am keeping fingers crossed that it continues like that and we all have a very uneventful pregnancy!

Hi all, had our 12 week scan last Thurs. Put me forward two days so 13 weeks tomorrow yippee!! Baby was sleeping but just at the end it stretched and then flipped over.

Sickness is much better now but I am even more tired! H is off work with a bad cold and I think maybe I've caught a bit of that . Away this weekend to tell the in-laws and pick up loaned cot yay. We are also getting small things each week with our food shop, like pack of wipes or nappies etc. We thought we wouldn't notice one or two things a week now but when I'm on unpaid leave it might be a different story so trying to stock up as much as poss just now.

Mrsstresshead - sympathy for you with the gastric reflux - isn't it horrible?

I had it last time with DD from 8 weeks pregnant all the way through, and am currently suffering with heartburn and indigestion this time around too .

Showed friends the scan photos last night and they were all cooing over it, but I can't seem to get excited about it at all. I just seem so knackered looking after the house, going to work and looking after a 1 year old that I'm not really even thinking much about the LO I'm carrying much

blobsmummy - that's exactly how I was when I was pregnant with DC2. Later on, when the morning sickness had passed (much later on , I actually went for days forgettting I was pregnant. I think it's not uncommon at all but I felt pretty guilty about it since I know every developmental stage etc with DC1

mrsstresshead - have you found anything that helps you with the headaches? I didn't get any with DD1 and DD2 but this time I have had a constant headache from 5 weeks - so painful . Been taking paracetamol and drinking lots of water but it hasn't made them any more bearable. They must be migraines as they are over one side of my head only and affect my vision(for a day, then they swap to the other side - if only I could remove the bit that hurts and leave it in a box somewhere )

i cant wait i'm 10wks+5 and also not really feeling like im pregnant even though im so sick its just no the same as that "im having a baby" feeling that i got with my DD but its so lovely to see that other people are feeling the same!! it make me feel at less quilty!!

i got my sacn appointment through but its not untill 23rd Nov which will make me 14wks pregnant. Can i ask is it normal to have a 12 wk scan so late ??????

Sweetbean - with DD last time I had a 7 week scan (thought I was miscarrying, but didn't) and then my next one was at 14 weeks. Although in this area they don't like to leave it pass 13+5, it's certainly not unheard of to have 14 week scans.

sweetbean - just had my 12 week scan at 11+1 which I thought a bit early. When I mentioned it to the lady doing the scan she said that most of the people they have seen recently have been around 14 weeks so I guess it's pretty common (although I thought it pretty late tbh). That was North Devon (my local hospital 50 miles away down a very windy narrow lane )

Ummmmm...can I ask, has anyone ever been told the sex of the baby at the 12 week scan? If so, were they right?

I had my scan today and everything is fine! I am 13 + 2 (which is what we thought). It was AMAZING to see the baby waving its arms and legs and a bit freaky to think that all of that is happening inside me! I am really really happy and am busy telling the world!

Sweetbean - my scan was around about 13.5 weeks and that is standard around here. It said on my leaflet it could take place anywhere between 12 and 14.

Coolmama - lucky you and the morning sickness! I am much better than i was but still have some bleurgh days

Blobsmums and anyone else with kids already, I am very sympathetic to how exhausting you must be finding it - I can't imagine having to look after a wee one at the moment. I am wondering if i shoudl revise my intention to have a couple close together

Thanks Jacobandlysette, I'll bear that in mind as it is easy to get pounced on. I'm still confused about the whole subject despite all the chatting about it. I'm thinking bf at night and bottle feeding through the day whether that's expressed or ff. Not sure.

All I know is I already love the baby to bits. Crazy amounts. And we've all already done our 3 months now! Only 6 to go!!!!

Hi to cece and coolmama - cece, I think we were briefly on the Nov '06 thread together (your name is familiar) - I am so pleased to see you back on here!

I didn't have any sickness either

DS is at nursery 3 days this week in prep for me returning to work on Monday (full time - boo hoo) I miss him like mad. He was really upset when I dropped him off this morning hoping he gets used to it soon as it's breaking my heart. Still, only for 23 weeks before mat leave again!

It's his 1st birthday tomorrow and I am sooo excited. Have wrapped his pressies and planning the little party we are having on Saturday

Welcome to everyone new and congratulations. Glad everyones scans went well. I had another scan yesterday to get the correct measurements for dating. I am 11+4, so about what I had thought. But now have my section date for the 12th May, so will change the list. I had to have 3 scans yesterday coz the first trainee who did it measured the nuchal fold at above average, so needed a consultant to recheck, turns out she must have measured incorrectly. And nothing to worry about,have enough to worry about without spending 3 1/2 hours at the hospital. Hope everyone is well.
