Hi all - Back from holiday were i spent the first week in bed feeling like crap! However, the second week was great.

blobsmummy - you have just described all the nightmares i have been having with your friend's situation. I too was taking comfort in the fact my symptoms are raging but am now worried again. have my scan on the 31st Oct. Told our parents - so nice to tell people finally Waiting until after the scan until i tell anyone else.

Hi to all - I have not had time to read everything but will hopefully be a bit more regular now!

WW xx

Mitchell81 · 15/10/2007 16:30

Blobsmummy- I think that must be very pregnant mothers worst nightmare, too just have no idea. Fingers crossed everyones scans go well.

Is anyone else having an elective CS?

Mitchell81 · 15/10/2007 16:31

Should add I am having a CS because I have already had 2 CS's.

podglet · 15/10/2007 16:44

Hi Blobsmummy - was wondering how you were doing! V for your friend. It is my nightmare at the moment as I am still symptomless and really expect the worst at my scan... DP can't get the time off for this scan so I will be on my own with DS

Mitchell81 - I had an emegergency c/s with DS but hope to have a VBAC this time round.

podglet · 15/10/2007 16:44

Hi all,

Didn't mean to scare you all, but I agree that it is always a worry until you get that first scan/second scan/pass the birth/pass the first 6 months (delete as appropriate!)
Not sure how my friend is doing, should hear more today hopefully. I can't stand the thought of suffering with all these symptoms for nothing. Feeling quite tearful today and could really do with being tucked in bed rather than being at work.

mrsstresshead - great news that you're ok, but absolutely awful that this mix-up happened in the first place - why are so many doctor's receptionists so rude and unhelpful?

My manager has taken away the chair that we sit on when we do our counter shift (I work in a Uni Library) and so I'm expected to stand for 2 hours. Boss wasn't very happy yesterday when i complained that I need propping up or I'll faint (did a lot of that with DD). Work colleagues are begging me to have a little faint as they all want it brought back to sit on too!

Better do something vaguely like work before i get caught...

macaco · 16/10/2007 12:43

Hi everyone.
Haven't read the thread lately, hope everyone is well. I think (touch wood) that my horrific ms ios finally startin g to ease. Have felt much better over the last couple of days and am now 13 weeks. Hoping to go back to work next week. Still haven't had my first scan yet...have to wait til Friday.

toffeecrisp · 16/10/2007 12:56

Hi there!

Just a quick note to say scan this morning was fine. Couldn't explain the spotting but bean is OK.

I saw little limb buds & heartbeat.

She thinks I'm about 9 weeks pg

bobsmum · 16/10/2007 13:02

One of my good friends in RL is due the almost same day as me! Her ds and dd are almost exactly the same age as my two, so we're still neck in neck It makes such a difference to have a preggy friend in reality too - we'll be comparing bumps in no time as long as everything is ok (fed up saying that).

blobsmummy - you need one of those walking stick thingies that folds up into a little leaning stool with a canvas seat - it coul hide under the counter and come out when your boss isn't looking for a sneaky sit down

podglet · 16/10/2007 13:27

Hi,

Bobsmum, how lovely to have to friend pg at the same time. I didn't last time and felt I could really do with someone to compare bumps with etc!

Blobsmummy, they really ought to let you have a seat - perhaps your colleagues are right and a little (but safe) "faint" is in order?

Have a dr's appointment on Thurs as all my joints are really sore and sleeping is impossible. My knees, hips and ankles are esp bad. Am going to ask him if he can bring my scan forward at all too.

Hope everyone is ok

bobsmum · 16/10/2007 16:36

blobsmummy - you need www.flipstick.co.uk/ or even better www.amazon.co.uk/TGG-Inflatable-Armchair/dp/B000KFU4FG

teeheelaydee · 16/10/2007 18:28

Toffeecrisp - glad all OK with scan. Just want to get to mine as think I will relax then - am I kidding myself !?

Blobsmummy - No chair - that is so mean - I am sure customers don't care if you are sitting or standing. They are probably too busy worrying about an essay deadline or recovering from a hangover if my memory is anything to go by.

I have a preggy friend - about 3 weeks ahead of me and her first as well so we are both dead chuffed to muddle through it all together. Only told her and my BF, getting harder not to tell people as I feel I am acting like a freaky person !!

1st midwife appt tomorrow have tons of forms to fill in - yuk !

goodcatholicgirl · 16/10/2007 20:16

hi all

Blobsmummy - so sorry to hear about your friend. I have just got off the phone from one of my BF's who had missed mc at 8 weeks. I was telling her how I have my scan Thurs and how I am (dare I say it) quietly confident that all OK as I still have bosoms like Jordan, feel nauseous and tired all the time. Then I read about your friend !! Fingers crossed for Thursday now!

Hayleyandbaby - my top tip for losing weight is....don't believe the hype about being able to eat what you want if you BF!!!!!!!! I felt quite good about 2 weeks after giving birth to dd, still big tummy but not too bad. Then, because I was BF, I basically ate for England!!!! And ended up putting on my weight AFTER I had dd!!!! It took me about 8 months of strict diet and exercise to get back to within half a stone of original weight, then got pg again .

Personally I believe that losing baby weight is very much down to genetics in the same way that all weight loss is, i.e. how easy you find it to lose weight normally. I'm one of those people who is a curvy generous size 12, but I have to work quite hard and really watch what I eat etc. My general observation of friends is that some shrink to even skinnier than pre pregnancy (bitches!) and some struggle like me, regardless of what they do diet wise. So I think, if you normally find it hard to lose weight, be prepared for it to be a battle!!! Just don't do what I did and eat for England unneccesarily!!!

Sorry, long post.

goodcatholicgirl · 16/10/2007 20:18

that's 8 months of dieting only once I stopped BF. Obvioulsy don't try and diet while BF ladeeez!!

blobsmummy · 17/10/2007 12:21

Result - boss came in and apologised today for how she had spoken to me. Said she had felt really bad and was there anything she could do to make things easier for me/had I got a new haircut (I think she started going a bit OTT at this point).

Feel much happier about it now, though thinking of getting the armchair Bobsmum!

I'm off on hols for a week (off to Lincoln with the in-laws, which means they'll look after DD most of the week and DH and I can relax) so won't be posting for a while.

Stay healthy everyone

jacobandTheMummylysette · 17/10/2007 14:20

hey everyone!

just been on for the first time in ages as our broadband is up the spout.

am so sorry and for everyone who has left us and am thinking of you all.

can't keep up with all the messages although indigo at the previous owner not telling you about the slugs. although the previous owner of our house didn't tell us about a terrible flea infestation she left us with...

had scan on monday and they have dated to 2 may as EDD, but ds was slightly small all the way through so i'm sticking with our dates! but all fine and beanie was 5cms little heart going at 150 so maybe it's a boy (old wives tale of slower heart beat is a boy?), and waving its little arms and legs around. when we all said goodbye (for ds's benefit), it put its hand up in the air

not much else to report - generally all good here.

i'm probably going to have an elective section as had emergency with ds and bp is already high with this one so would probably be better for us both that way.

i'm off to buy maternity clothes on friday - been superstitious and not buying anything efore 12 weeks... mainly tops and trousers for very soon as i can just about squeeze into my trousers still but it's a bit uncomfortable

IndigoBlue · 18/10/2007 10:55

I am feeling annoyed today, hadn't had a letter through for my 12 week scan appt which i was expecting to be next week. Phoned the hospital who claim they have no record of me being referred and no record of me being referred and coming in for the scan I had at 8 weeks. So basically since going in for my 8 week scan I've been lost in the system with both the gp and the hospital having previously said that I would receive 12 week appt as normal. Gp surgery is now faxing through my details again to the hospital, so just have to wait again now and see if I get an appt through!

Hope everyone else is ok and finding the NHS more competent where you are!!

bobsmum · 18/10/2007 12:17

Scan tomorrow - I want to wallow in paranoia and mope around the house, dh is getting very excited about getting a car on Saturday.

I'm doing a stall at a fundraising fayre tonight so I've got to get the car packed up for that, plus I've got 4 days worth of dishes sitting by the sink. But every time I go into the kitchen I gag! Dh is not being v sympathetic atm - I think he's assuming the m/s should be passing by now.

I know I must come across as really pathetic to him atm - and a bit incapable, but I'm frustrated too. Didn't have this lack of energy with the other two, ,so maybe he's just expecting this pregnancy to be the same as before?

Ho hum.

toffeecrisp · 18/10/2007 12:40

Bobsmum - I feel exactly the same. Just opening the fridge or bin has me gagging.

DP is being helpful (to a point) but he keeps insisting I eat and I'm sure he doesn't believe in morning sickness.

I can't wait for this to pass!!!

I have been finding that Starbursts (formerly Opal Fruits) and Fruit Pastilles are helping with my sickness.

Hope all goes well at the scan

ColumbosWife · 18/10/2007 13:46

Poor you, toffeecrisp and bobsmum with the continuing ms. I hate that feeling that everything in the fridge just makes you want to gag.

My ms has finally vanished - I think I am about 10 weeks - almost overnight but now instead of enjoying it, I am feeling ever more paranoid that it means there is something wrong. Won't have my first midwife appt until Monday and only then can phone up to make a scan date. Am very envious of all you people who have had your scans.

This is my third pg, so I thought I would be more relaxed about it all...I was wrong.

podglet · 18/10/2007 13:46

Hi all,

Oooh, good luck for tomorrow Bobsmum, enjoy seeing that little bean for the first time!

Indigo - poor old you and the NHS. Let's hope your GP marks it urgent and you get that scan soon.

Off to the docs myself this afternoon to see if I can get my scan moved forward. I am so worried about it and not sleeping, I am convinced something is wrong.

I found lemon curd helped the sickness with DS.

bobsi · 18/10/2007 14:11

Ooh this looks like fun - I've never seen a thread like this before. I'm due 14th May'08 and have a dd who is 24 months. I was feeling really sick but don't seem to be any more which makes me worry - somehow the sickness is quite comforting.
I've had two scans as keep bleeding - all is ok but they've told me I can't have my 12 week scan now - boo hoo!!!
