Hello, also had my midwife appointment, says that I am just over 8 weeks, so will get my scan date in the post for about 4 weeks time. Can't wait. Still feeling sick, not been sick yet.

grinningbee · 01/10/2007 15:49

Hi Mitchell & Blobsmummy,

Can I just ask how long your first MW appointments were?

What sort of things do they ask/tell you?

Just wondering what's coming on Thursday!

jacobandlysette · 01/10/2007 16:03

aquababe i am so sorry for your sad news

bobsmum how awful about the accident - trust you and the bean are all ok though!

hello everyone new - sorry i'm cr*p at the moment remembering things.

my MW booking appointment took well over an hour as they ask total medical history and also family history and obstetric history (if this isn't your first). but that's just our hospital - might be different where you are.

whoever was asking about high bp - I have it. 160/108 last week at consultants appointment and they have put me on methyldopa already. it's a really old medicine that makes you really tired so they only give it to pg women as it's the only one that they can really say is safe iykwim. apart from that had a dizzy spell yesterday and slipped on the stairs (no injury though) and then almost fainted twice. hoping it's a side effect of the pills. off to fetal medical centre at the hospital on thursday morning to see specialist to manage bp care through the pregnancy so we'll see then.

About 45 minutes, asking about previous pregnancies or miscarriages, weight, blood pressure, they check your urine, The new forms are much longer than the old ones. They give you lots of reading material and the bounty bag with information. And you get your Ready steady baby book. They tell you when you will have bloods taken and when they give scans.

JackBlackRoady · 01/10/2007 17:31

Aquababe - I am so sorry, lots of hugs coming your way.

blobsmummy · 02/10/2007 12:11

Grinningbee - my appt also lasted about 45 minutes - my midwife came to my home.

Asked about family medical history, your detailed medical history, previous pregnancy/birth and any probs, whether I'd like home birth or go into hospital, blood pressure, wee sample to check for protein, what test are available for you and baby, when scan and test are, healthy eating, pros of breastfeeding and then lots of bits to read.

It was quite a good laugh, especially as when I saw her last year with DD1 I told her that I'd never be back again!

brunettemum · 02/10/2007 12:48

Hi all. Hope things are good with you all. Aquababe... so sorry to hear your news.

I am off work today - have had small amount of bleeding and some brown discharge (which was exactly like a show) - went to the dr and he says it's a 'threatened miscarriage'... whatever that is. He's booked me for a scan, but they can't see me until tomorrow. So trying not to worry, but failing miserably. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Feeling very sad today.

podglet · 02/10/2007 13:46

Brunettemum - hoping your little bean hangs on. Get lots of rest, stay with your feet up and look after yourself.

Have done another pg test today - just to be sure as I so do not feel pregnant! It was still a bfp though so it would appear I am just being a raving lunatic... can't wait for my scan to prove it to me!

moominsmummy · 02/10/2007 14:52

Hello all
Can I join the thread? Sorry for late appearance but I have been too busy puking to get on the web
am on tablets now for the nausea so life is manageable
Am due 1st May but since DS was two weeks overdue and not really expecting this one to arrive til mid-May!
Had an early scan at 8 weeks (cos they were worried the excessive sickness might be due to me carrying twins - thankfully just one little bean with a tiny heartbeat - phew!)
do 2nd babies tend to be bigger than first? DS was 9lb2oz so bit concerned......

jacobandlysette · 02/10/2007 15:16

brunettemum fingers and toes crossed here for you that your litle beanie hangs on in there

whats a ready steady baby book? i got no reading material at all! just the bounty bag which is no good for us with sensitive skin that lo's are likely to have as well!

how are we all doing in general?

OP posts:
hotpotmama · 02/10/2007 17:19

Moominsmummy - my first DS was 9lb 6oz and my second DS was 8lb 11oz. So hope that puts your mind at rest.

Am sick (excuse the pun) of feeling sick, just want to get to the magical 12 weeks!

Brunettemum - hope you are ok, hope I can reassure you a little bit in that I had exaclty the same thing happen to me last week and when they did the scan everything was absolutely fine.

Felt pretty ill yesterday, but better today. Can't wait to feel a bit more normal again!

Chuffed · 03/10/2007 05:27

Well still feeling very nauseous here and have my appt tomorrow with one hospital for them to decide whether I am 'considered high risk or not'. I feel like one hospital is saying no you aren't high enough risk for our clinic and then the other only takes low to med risk and the SCBU only takes babies from 32wks onwards (hopefully the babies will stay in until that time no matter where I end up).
I am trying to get all mentally prepared to fight my case and will have a tantrum if necessary.

Have had dd away for a couple of days staying with my mum so have been down my 3.5yr old and have just had the 21mth old. Oh how easy one is in comparison. Not overly looking forward to trying to cope with 5.

blobsmummy · 03/10/2007 08:56

Brunettemum - all the best for today.

Chuffed - I would def not be feeling chuffed at the prospect of 5 [very worried emoticon]! I'm panicking about how I'll be with 2!

Don't know whether to buy a second cot, or to try DD out in a bed. She'll be 23 months when this one is born, and I don't know if that's too soon (cos I'd have to do it a few months before baby arrives so she doesn't feel like she's being kicked out of her room).

Any advice from others who've been there? She fully utilises all areas of her cot when she sleeps, so have bought 2 bed guards, but am worried she'll be a bit too young to stay in bed without getting out at 20 months!

jacobandlysette · 03/10/2007 10:34

o'h chuffed you must stamp and stamp and stamp your feet! SCBU will take babies from whenever they are needed to take them. and if they don't have facilities for younger than 32 weeks they will be transferred in incubators or however they need to be to a SCBU that does (ds was born at 32 weeks and in SCBU for 3). Although obviously fingers crossed that they stay put for as long as possible. On that subject the consultants have already indicated that they don't think we'll get to 36 weeks this time - they are already suggesting 33/34 weeks, which I'm rather annoyed about as it seems to be a bit of a defeatist "well you've got high bp so there's no way you'll get that far along" attitude

mrsstresshead hope your migraine doesn't last too long - is there anything that might work? i've never really had them so can't help much i'm afraid.

hope everyone else all keeping ok and still thinking of you brunettemum

Wow Cuffed so theres deffo 3 in there??!!
I had my 7+3 scan yesterday and the area of seperation (threat m/c) is shrinking. Little bean was very visible signed off til Monday.

Migraines= yes im having blinding ones!! where i can see anything which is frightening.

I moved my daughter into her bed at 23months. she too used to occupy all of her cot but seems to stay in one place in the bed. (she does get out though...but gets bk in)

tc girls x

jacobandlysette · 03/10/2007 14:29

kanga thats good news that the threat is shrinking - keep your feet up as much as you can (my ds is 14 months so i know thats a bit of a misnomer with a toddler!).

we too have the same issue as we have a cot bed for ds and through a product recall we have a cot bed with only cot bed sides (ie not high ones for a baby iyswim). the beanie will come when ds is around 20 months and i think we are going to have to move him into big boys bed then. do you think it's too early?

Hi everyone, welcome Pregnabrain and congratulations! Hugs to everyone who is feeling tired/sick/stressed/migrained/carrying 3 babies!
Just wanted to say hello to you all, I have been reading all the threads on sickness this morning and googling how to beat it, still struggling...

Hayleyandbaby · 03/10/2007 15:20

Hi everyone,
apparently my blood pressure has chilled out now. My midwife came to our flat the other day and actually talked to us a long time. We've previously had quite a birth-related tragedy to one of our family members so they are giving me special care to ease my partners worries- as it was his side of the family. I feel much better now.

Today's my birthday!!! Not relevant but I'm just excited about all my prezzies!!

I was due on yesterday and I'm havin cramps and things which I had last month so is this meant to happen? I'm very worried as I've had pains every day since I became pregnant!

Aquababe- so sorry to hear what happened. Hope you're coping. You'll be in my prayers.

Chuffed- 5?! that's so exciting!!! Congratulations.

Hope everyone (me included) feels better soon hehe.

Hayley

brunettemum · 03/10/2007 16:01

Hi all.

Well, the scan today was bad news. Our baby stopped growing at 6-7 weeks and so they don't think the pregnancy is viable. But because it is so small, they can't tell, so have booked me in for another scan next Weds to be doubly sure - though I will probably miscarry naturally before then anyway.

So I have removed myself from your stats and wish you all the very best with all your pregnancies. Take care all.
