Chuffed - wow! that's amazing!
Starlight - I'm having a scan tomorrow for dating, as I had no idea when my last period was. I am guessing my dates based on the doctors exam.
Thanks everyone for saying if you have stomach ache, that's made me feel better. So I will go have something else to eat. Also thankful I don't have to teach tomorrow so I might have a sleep mid afternoon

Hi all
I've added my details and although I've been given a date at the end of April based on my LMP I have a really long cycle so don't believe it it'll be til the beginning of May.
How's everyone coping with morning sickness? I'm not. Being sick about three times during the morning and then feel like I'm about to puke all afternoon. It's really getting me down. I'm off work today and will probably stay off til Monday. Unfortunately my term starts on Monday (I teach English to mostly kids and teenagers) and I really don't know if I can do it. May have to get signed off. Been struggling in this month as only doing admin. I'm 10 weeks and I'm so desperate for it to stop.
I've got an appointment for a scan but not until 13 weeks. What do they look for at the first scan?

wow chuffed! 3 heartbeats! You must be in shock. Is it your first pregnancy?

Hi All,

Chuffed - I join in teh wows of everyone else!!!

After feeling like crap for ages I have felt okay the last few days and am (tentatively) hoping that I am over the worst of the early crappiness. I am going on holiday for two weeks on Friday (hurrah!) and want to enjoy it - not feel like I am giong to puke all the times. I have a scan date for 31st October when i will be 13 weeks and can't wait.

Probably won't be on here for a while. Look forward to see how you are all doing after my hols.

WW xx

Hello everyone, I had my scan this morning and my EDD is 8th May - one day after DH birthday! It was such a relief to see the little bean and the even tinier heartbeat!

Starlight - I had no idea on conception date and so I think the Dr had to go for dating scan, as I was so unhelpful! But when I went today it was totally deserted - the antenatal at North Hampshire Hospital is the same place as the fertility clinic (I don't know about other hospitals, but I didn't like being there surrounded by pregnant women when I went for fertility appmts) and every time I went it was rammed. Today, empty! DH - "I don't know why you said you hated this place, it's really pleasant!" We were early, went straight in, scan took 6 minutes! However at our hospital you have to have a Dr appmt to get a scan you can't go to them direct. SO maybe you should go back to your Dr if you are really unsure on dates, just to be safe.

Macaco and others with 'morning sickness' - I sympathise. I feel guilty for whining about it when I am so pleased to be pg, and I feel a fraud feeling so sick sick sick and tired with nothing to show for it. I've been collecting advice and here's what works to minimise the worst of it for me (it doesn't go completely but it makes it manageable at work):
I have dry food to snack on and try to have a bit every hour, like Ritz crackers, cream crackers, breadsticks and toast.
I have plain watery soup if I can't keep anything down, with the dry food.
I don't take the vitamin tablets unless I am feeling relatively ok.
I have to go to bed at 8pm latest (before my son!) else I get so tired and stomach-achy I end up taking paracetamol and I only want to do that if I am desperate.
I don't have any tea or coffee or chocolate as it seems to make it worse.
I have a box of Preggy Pops and one of Queasy Drops from Mothersbliss, and other sweets sucking seems to help.
I drink water constantly and also cranberry juice.
There you go, hope that maybe helps!

Wow mega long post! Now shall I go have a sleep? or shall I go help DH decorate the flat we bought? or shall I do some schoolwork? hmmm....

IndigoBlue · 26/09/2007 14:43

JackBlackRoady it must be so nice for you to see the heartbeat.

I wish I could have that as well now as today I've had brown discharge so am worried that all might not be well. I have a doctors appt booked for this afternoon anyway as I was going to tell them about being pregnant but looks like it's lucky I'm going. I never had anything like this with my first pregnancy so i don't know what to think.

londonirish · 26/09/2007 16:51

Hi everyone, sounds like lots of us are feeling sick ?! Me too...but every day is different..some things help one day and make me worse the next! Had the crappest day..Osted inspectors in school and one observed one of my science lessons...kids weren't best behaved and I was soooooo stressed out. I have been on the brink of tears all day..I came home just now and have been crying like a baby!! Proper big fat tears..bawling!!! God..I haven't been so upset in years-likely that the buggering hormones are causing havoc!
Still haven't told anyone I'm pg apart from DH..tempted to tell people just to explain why I'm not on top form.
Funny ...I feel better already
xx

macaco · 26/09/2007 16:52

Hope all goes well at the doctors Indigo Blue. JackBlackRoady the problem I have is that I constantly feel like I am about to throw up. It's not just a bit of queasiness...I feel like I'm about to heave every minute of the day. that combined with vomiting various times makes me feel like the living dead to be honest. I can't really stomach anything except potatoes and pasta. I'm finding it difficult even to drink enough as that makes me feel sick too.
I've been struggling to work this month as it's office work but I really don't see how I'm going to give classes next week. I think I'll have to get signed off. But then I worry the doctor (I'm in Spain) might say nonsense, it's only morning sickness. The worry is making it worse really.

IndigoBlue · 26/09/2007 17:14

Thanks macaco, I've been referred to the hospital for a scan which I should get in the next couple of days. I've just got my fingers crossed, can't think about anything else!

It's awful when you feel sick but I think stress and worry can make it worse, some days when we were moving house I felt much more sick and I'm sure it was to do with the stress of it all.

I've been given Cariban by my doctor and it's completely useless...has no effect whatsoever so I'm not bothering with it. My sickness started at 6 weeks and I'm now 10+2 so I'm really quite fed up now and it could well go on for the best part of a month yet.

Mitchell81 · 27/09/2007 10:52

With my previous two pregnancies the sickness lasted from 6 weeks up till 16 weeks, and now with this pregnacy it started at 7 weeks. I am hoping that this time it will be different. This is the worst feeling in the world, constantly feeling nauseas and nothing really helps besides eating. And then when sickness disappears I will be waiting to see if SPD comes back. The joys of being pregnant.

AussieSim · 27/09/2007 10:57

I feel like I've nothing to offer here at the moment as I haven't had any sickness, just been exhausted and generally anxious about getting through the next few weeks intact. It doesn't help that over here at the moment the newspapers are full of stories about miscarriages. I've been telling heaps of people too and each time I do it I kick myself a little. DH not taking the whole thing very seriously yet.

I have been surfing ebay and have found this beautiful maternity dress for summer - do you think it would be tempting the gods to buy it so early?

jacobandlysette · 27/09/2007 11:05

WW your scan is o nmy birthday!

indigo hope all goes well at the scan - i had some slight bleeding a few weeks ago which was brownish and with ds i had brownish spotting at this stage so try not to worry too much (I know a hell of a lot easier said than done).

my sickness seems to be getting a little better - am 9+2 now so hopefully we're on the home straight. it's baked potatoes for me really in the evenings now, every night which is getting really boring but it's about the only thing i really fancy, although last nigh ti succumbed to the age old pg craving of gherkins! DH laughed his head off when he saw me with the jar

whoever it was that last had af in feb 06 - cal lthe hospital and tell them that you have no idea of dates and you really think you should have a scan as early as possible to get some idea - important if you are having any screening done for instance at our hospital they do the nuchal scan as routine so if you are unsure of dates send you to the early pregnancy unit for a dating scan. if they won't help you direct then deffinitely call the doctor back. you sometimes have to stamp your feet a bit to get things done with ante natal stuff imo

anyway must dash the big man's woken up!

Hi

I disappeared from the list so have added myself on.

I think I'm about 7 weeks pg. Have no idea about periods as I finished the pill halfway thru packet and got pg straight away (I feel really lucky).

Going to see doctor on Monday for a check up (had early mc in May so she said to go and see her and she'll book me in with midwife)

well I am relieved to say that my scan went well and everything is as it should be. I'm pretty much bang on 8 weeks which is exactly right according to my dates so I feel like a weight has been lifted now.

bobsmum · 27/09/2007 18:03

Hi everyone

I'm jealous of all these scans

I'm meant to get one between 10 and 14 weeks and that's it for the pg.

Had a big car accident on Friday morning and have managed to write off our very old Range Rover . Have been a bit sore and stiff since, but still feeling very sick and tired so I'm assuming everything's ok! Have been waiting in all week because the police said they might have to charge me, but I've heard nothing, so I guess that's the end of it. And the car too

Need to find a cheap people carrier thingy now, there's no way we'll be able to find another 4X4 for the price we paid for the old one.

3 heartbeats chuffed!! You'll be looking for a minibus then!
