amyclaramum · 08/09/2007 09:19

Hi Eveyone !

Huge Congratulations to Dal and Spangly on your gorgeous little boys ! Well done !

Kyala - totally sympathise on Homer Simpson ! When I had to go into hospital I had to show DH freezer and where food was for the DD'S. He is really looking forward to going back to work for a rest next week !!

HIWBB - don't worry sounds like the consultant just wanted to go through it all again for his benfit ! Also as you are going private probably wanted to give you all his advice BUT stick to what you already decided !

Thanks Twitmonster for pointing out the name spelling - I had noticed but didn't know how to change it ! I guess its your name too ??

By the way I have put some photos on my page - hopefully done it right !?

love to you all xxx

MrsFish · 08/09/2007 09:32

Morning All

Congrats Spangly

Amyclaramum - you are still showing no profile.

Canadianmum - great pics, you look great

Well I went to bed at 7.30 last night I was so exhausted. Must have woke up half a dozen times during the night so am still feeling knackered this morning Luckily DH is home tonight, the last 9 days have gone surprisingly quickly, but HE WILL be getting up with ds tomorrow

Started doing the pile of ironing I have but felt a bit hot and dizzy so have come for a sit down.

Hope everyone has a good day

Rin23 · 08/09/2007 10:08

Congrats to Spangly, Dal, Pennypops, Bendybus and Trinity - great news all, well done girls!!

PLP - loads of luck for little Cerys, I have read about this before - didn't think it was uncommon, so hope that means it's easily resolved and that Cerys recovers really well - thinking about you.

Thanks for advice Twit - I'm gonna do as you advise!

Just had time to catch up on posts - great amount of news. I'm been so busy haven't had chance to think about the birth but have got 2 weeks to go to I don't think it's imminent.

hope everyone has a lovely saturday

Sorry need to have a rant before I explode into a mess of hormonal tears....

Just had a text off our babysitter - wonderful girl, loves ds to bits, very helpful etc etc... to ask me if I could not give birth between 27th Sept and 7th October if she books a holiday!!! For over a year now she has offered to be my standby during the time when baby is due, as she can get to me quicker than anyone else I know, she also works for dh so would be able to get out during the day too, to look after ds. I now feel left up in the air, I am only worried because Sam came so quickly, so if the next one is the same or quicker I don't know anyone else who could get to me so quickly to look after him. Just one more thing to worry about... now I am not positive she will book it yet, only just had the initial text off her, but tbh I will be very miffed if she does. Am I being unreasonable/overreacting??

Rin23 · 08/09/2007 10:49

Mrs Fish - I really feel for you, it's a tricky one, and damned annoying but I don't suppose you can stop her booking the hols. Can she suggest someone else who could step in to babysit? At least you know in advance so you can get a contingency plan together. good luck!

MrsFish · 08/09/2007 10:57

I can find someone I am sure, but she was just ideal, could get to me quickly whatever the time day or night and has had sam for a couple of nights before now, so he is completely comfortable with her. Its more the fact that she is only just now looking to book a holiday three weeks before I am due, after saying she will be there for the past 9 months I am only panicking because labour was so quick with Sam, if it takes longer then I would be ok, but until it happens I just don't know.

kyala · 08/09/2007 12:16

MrsFish OMG! I'd be really annoyed if it were me I suppose you can't really say she can't go on holiday but she must've known you were due soon right, so could she not have given you a bit more notice or something? Or even booked it for well after your due date?

Some people astound me, they really do!
I'm convinced that we had a knock at the door at stupid O'clock this morning, despite there being a rather blatant notice on our door notifying of death to all who dare to knock without good reason due to pregnant woman/toddler sleeping etc LOL
Couldn't have been that important as they would've left a note (or the house would've burnt down by now right, cos I can't think of any other good reason to be knocking at that time!)

Glad to see there's not been any more arrivals last night, I'm still totally jealous at those who have had their's especially as mine is making absolutely no sign of showing up anytime soon PANTS

Ok, have a good day all

Hi everyone

Mrs Fish - sorry to hear about your babysitter dilema. I agree it's annoying and she could have been more considerate but there's not really anything you can do unless DP refuses her time off work!!!! I had a previous quick delivery and family can't get to me for 1 1/2 min but neighbours and friends have said i can call them but it still feels weird. I've decided to not worry until it happens and then i'll have to make the best of the situation

Spangly - Congratulations and welcome Luke. I'm pleased your move is progressing well

Camadianmum - love the pictures! and i sympathise with how you're feeling my edd is day after you!

Another Announcement*

Just had a text from Mmoomar

She has just had a baby boy at 8.45 this morning by emergency cs. Weighed in at 7.5 pounds No name yet

Congrats Mmoomar

Chattyhan · 08/09/2007 13:00

Congrats MMooMar - Wishing you a speedy recovery and welcome to your DS2

MrsMar · 08/09/2007 13:05

congrats spangly and MMooMar!! Yay, more boys!!!!

Such great news about Cerys PLP, I hope she continues to get better and better

Absolutely shattered after a rubbish night's sleep, supposed to be going out for dinner tonight so I'm going to try and doze the rest of the day while dh is glued to the rugby!

I've got a question about hospital stays... as I'm having a cs I'm expecting to be in for 3 days or so, but what I'm wondering is, is it really frowned on to take eye patches (like the ones they give you on aeroplanes) in with me so I can doze during the day? I thought the midwives might frown at earplugs, but what about eye patches?

I'm off to claim my place on the sofa, dh might give up on the rugby early, Italy are playing NZ and they're being humped by the all blacks!! Hehehehe! I hope everyone else is well, take care xx

TOD · 08/09/2007 15:12

Major congratulations to all of you who have had their little bundles!!!!!! So So happy for ye!!
All well here, am 39 weeks today and every day now seems like a week.....willing this little one to arrive soon!!
Will be induced on the 17th if nothing happens before then...fingers crossed i will go before that.
Felt full of energy yeserday, think i overdid things as i am totally shattered today...will i ever learn!!!
anyway roll on labour...never thought i'd be saying that!!!
Take care all xxxxxx

MrsBumblebee · 08/09/2007 15:14

Congratulations MMooMar! Look forward to hearing more from you.

MrsMar, I'd take in whatever you damned well want!! Not the time to worry about what's frowned upon, when you're recovering from surgery. Eye mask is a good idea, I think. The girls from my NCT class who have had their babies already report that earplugs are absolutely essential if you want to get any sleep (at night, let alone during the day!).

Just come back from seeing Atonement at the cinema. We decided to be indulgent and go to the 11.45am showing. Very good film, and only 11 people in the cinema - bliss. Though I'm now slightly confused about what time of day it is .

emj23 · 08/09/2007 15:50

Congratulations MMooMar and welcome to your baby boy!

MrsMar, I agree with MrsBumblebee, why make you stay in hospital for four days unless it's to rest and recover? Sleep is a huge part of that and if you need an eyemask to do it then they can't be cross with you.

I was told yesterday that it's unlikely I'll get all the way to my due date, so I'm hoping that either LO will turn up the right way on her own and labour will start, or that my ECV on Thursday works and then it'll all start happening. I'm so huge and fed up with this pregnancy lark now, I don't think I can stand another three weeks.

I'm thinking about trying that thing where you put a bag of frozen peas on the bump to make baby move - or is that just nonsense? Has anyone else tried it?

Rin23 · 08/09/2007 16:24

Mrs Bumblebee - I just went to see Atonement too - what did you think? I thought it was great though am feeling rather on the emotional side now!

emj, An ice cold drink can get the baby to kick if that's what you're after. I've tried it and it does work - you need to lie down at the same time.

MrsMar - I have packed ear plugs AND eyemask for hospital. It didn't occur to me that anyone would object...?

Rin23 · 08/09/2007 16:25

ooh, forgot to say CONGRATS to Mmoomar !!

Chattyhan · 08/09/2007 16:31

Emj - i hope things work out the way you want. I don't have experience of breech i'm afraid but i suppost anything is worth a go! I felt awful at 37 weeks but actually started feeling better at 38 weeks and now at 39 i'm not actually that fussed how much longer! Several people told me i would have this baby early including consultants and midwife but i'm 39 wks tomorrow! Mind you being breech i suppose there's more chance they'll intervene with you xx

PLP says congrats to all the new mums and lo and thanks for all the support xx

Rin23 · 08/09/2007 16:38

sorry emj - got the wrong end of the stick. RE breech - hmm, not sure about the frozen peas but I guess it's worth a go. My baby was breech but has now turned - I didn't even notice (it was around 35 weeks). Though I'm not sure if it hasn't turned back as head wasn't engaged last time. Some people do say that the baby just knows and turns of it's own volition - I suppose it depends on how tight it is in there! good luck!

canadianmum · 08/09/2007 16:54

Congratulations Spangly and Mmoomar - more boys, yay!!!!

PLP - glad your little girl is coming home, looking forward to hearing all your news.

emj - I used frozen peas when my lo was breech, more for the soreness and burning sensation on my bump to be honest. But my lo did turn sometime between my 32 and 36 wk scan so maybe it helped. Worth a try and feels very nice when you are warm or sore.

chatty - I feel the same as you, I have actually found previous weeks harder, week 38 was actually really good, apart from yesterday when I felt rough. Today I feel tired after a tossy-turny night but otherwise fine. I actually feel like I could happily wait another fortnight for bubba to arrive - am I mad????

canadianmum - 39 weeks today!!!!

canadianmum · 08/09/2007 16:56

chatty - forgot to mention, everyone told me this baby was going to be early because of last time (even though I never went into premature labour). My MIL even said I would be lucky to get to August. It has been heaven to prove them all wrong, especially her!!!! I think I have denied her some drama .

hayley2u · 08/09/2007 17:06

oh my goodness cant believe everyone is having there babys. cant believe mine will be here by next week. best sort my names out and quick?. any one have any ideas what milk best for baby. i mean formula? my ds was on cow and gate but my brother partner told me that makes a greedy/fat baby. my ds was a chunk so wondering what else, what are your suggestions. she told me to go for sma

MrsFish · 08/09/2007 17:08

Spoke to DH on the phone and told him about babysitter, he told me to stop being a woman and phone her rather than get all uptight over a text... he was right. I phoned her 5 mins ago. She hasn't booked anything yet, she is going to have another look tomorrow and see if she can go away a week later, they can't go earlier because of other commitments, but she said the same hol a week later was £100 more... dh told me to tell her that we would come to some arrangement if it came down to money... so will wait and see what she says tomorrow
