Just thought I'd get the shiny new thread up and running. Well done Twit on the thread name

OP posts:

Hopeitwontbebig · 06/09/2007 19:02

Sprakly, great to hear from you again. Flippin TalkTalk. My stepmum is having awful trouble with them too, she keeps going off line, so frustrating. We're with Orange, and they seem to be pretty good if that's any help. Thanks for your thoughts for DH. Make sure you get your Mum to post if there is any news from you! x x

Canadianmum, I think it's probably a good thing they're in separate classes, gives them a chance to make their own friends which is important. Both of my boys have twins in their classes, DS1 has two sets in his class! I think their Mums' requested it or something.

Yetihed, fingers crossed for you. But a lot of us have been experiencing what you describe over the past few weeks. I think the good news is it is your body heading in the right direction. HTH

TwitmonstEr · 06/09/2007 19:09

is anyone else now thinking of names that would blend in nicely with the baby names used so far on this thread?

Dal, I'll be thinking of you and look forward to hearing your news,
fiofio hope all is well and see you soon.
plp ah your poor little one, I'm thinking of you both. I hope you are well.
rin23 I'd keep asking about letting the cord finish and then having the injection, write it down and tell whoever attends to you.
hopey I hope you are coping and getting some sleep.

I'm sorry to miss people out, I hope you aren't offended, but I've been away some time.

dal21 · 06/09/2007 19:18

hello everyone! Have skim read the posts quickly. Some more congrats in order mums!

Thanks all for your thoughts...am being cheeky and cutting parts of this from my post on breech watch.

Have stayed busy today - got my hair done (very important), picked up some lovely champers to take in with us (even more important). Basically had a lovely 'me' day.
Saw my midwife this afternoon and since I have left the hospital - am feeling nothing but excitement - hoping the nerves stay away now. (yesterday was nothing but absolute fear and apprehension, not of the op, but of the fact that post op I will have a baby!)
We have to be at the hospital for 7.30 - 8ish tmrw morning and am booked in between 9.30-10, so am hoping that time slot goes ahead and I dont get bumped for an emergency as not eating/drinking makes me VERY grumpy. Still dont understand if they insert a catheter - why it means you cannot drink water from 4am onwards....hmm, can have little sips but that is it.

Holly and HIWBB are my text buddies, so will text as soon as I am able too.

Goodness knows when I will be back online, I dont intend to rush out of hospital - am planning on staying 5 days, but who knows? these LO's are nothing if not unpredictable! Lots of love to everyone on here, will miss you all loads and will be thinking of fellow mnetters popping away!
Look forward to catching up when I get back online.

Hugs to all! take care
xx

emj23 · 06/09/2007 19:19

Welcome back Twit, hope you are well.

I'm just hoping that no-one's going to be offended if any names get re-used. I had narrowed my choices down to two names but one has already been used, so if anyone else on here chooses the other, I'm afraid I'm just going to have to look extremely unoriginal

bendybus · 06/09/2007 19:33

Hello all. Just wanted to add my arrivals info.
Our little DD arrived Tuesday 3 Sept at 5.35am, we are both well and came home on Wed night. We had to stay 24 hours as waters acually broke on Sat 1 Sept and they keep you in just in case. No name decided on yet - although Emily is a possibility.

She was born at King's College in Camberwell and I just want to re-assure anyone going in there. Everyone I met was great and after a difficult time with DS 3 years ago at another hospital I was pretty worried. We eventually had a water birth (never thought I would, but there you are!!) and it really worked for me.
Good luck to all those coming up.xx

canadianmum · 06/09/2007 19:55

Congratulations bendybus!!!!

MrsFish · 06/09/2007 19:58

Congrats Bendybus

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 06/09/2007 21:30

Congratulations bendybus!

Good luck for tomorrow Dal. We will all be thinking of you x

PLP - Sending you lots of love and hugs.

Yetihed - I was woken in the night on Tuesday with period like cramps that lasted for about 8 hours then it all went away. My theory (hope!) is that it's our bodies practising for the real thing and when labour happens we will be so expert at it that it will be pain free and easy

Can anyone tell me how I access all the lovely photos I keep hearing about? Is there a profile page or something that I don't know about? Am not very computer savvy...!

I'm off to Ikea tomorrow which is enough to send anyone into labour!

FlossALump · 07/09/2007 07:10

Good luck Dal! Congratulations to bendybus and pennypops! They are all arriving! Hurray!

Good luck today Dal, glad you had such a nice chilled day. I think the reason why they make you NBM is just in case they need to give you an anesthetic - for which the stomach needs to be empty to make sure you don't end up aspirating. HTH!!

PLP, so sorry to hear about cerys. I hope she is well following her surgery. Thinking of you. xxx

HIWBB, Mum is coming! I can't tell her not to. It will be nice for DS, she can help care for him. I am very close to my mum, she is so good to us. She recently brought the pram. She had an awful year last year and is now so delighted to have a second grandchild on the way - she's retired a year earlier than planned mainly I think because of the new baby... Basically it is very important to her. Dp's being very good about it. If I don't go into labour this weekend she's working next week so won't be able to get up.

Tried out my tens last night, forgotten how weird it felt! Looking forward to using it for the real thing now.

Hope everyone has lovely weekends ahead of them - those with lovely baby cuddles, those with immenent cuddles and those enjoying a few last days of peace!!

yetihed · 07/09/2007 08:41

Thanks JemimaPD, I hope you're right about labour being a breeze! LOL! Good luck at IKEA- that's one place I just can't face going to at the mo, which is very unlike me!

You see people's photos by clicking on their names, which opens their profile; you should then see a link to their lovely piccies.

Flossalump, hope the timing with your mum works out- I never realised how important grandchildren are until seeing my parents prepare for the imminent (hopefully) arrival.

It's just amazing to read this thread at the moment with everyone experiencing such huge events...

Oh dear, I'm getting all emotional . I think I'd better stop writing now and go have breakfast.

Chattyhan · 07/09/2007 08:51

Hi everyone and Congratulations Bendybus!

Jemima - to access profile pages click the yellow symbol at the right of the persons post. If no symbol they don't have a page!

Dal - meant to say good luck last night but didn't get back on! But thinking of you today and looking forward to hearing your news!

Flossalump - glad your mum is coming and hope things happen when you want!

DP starts his new job on monday! He's got meetings scheduled and has told me he's not going to be able to start paternity leave until at least wed preferably end of the week so i phoned my mum to see if she was available if needed for those few days. She is really excited about it as always wants to be involved but lives 4 1/2 hrs away and works and has my 14 yr old bro at home so never really gets the chance she wanted to come after DS birth but with DP on paternity she just wasn't needed so now i'm really hoping she gets the chance!

38+5

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/09/2007 09:26

congratulations bendybus!!! Sounds like you had a lovely birth experience

Our chosen name for LO has already been 'used'. We did decided on it months ago...honest!

Good luck today dal!!

Chatty, hope you can get that arranged for your Mum to come up, how exciting for you.

Floss, think I must have misunderstood your post. I thought your Mum was going to be in the labour room with you and DP , sorry!

Jemima, ikea OMG, you're brave!! Which one are you going to?

I've got my physio appointment this morning at 11, then I meet my obstetrician this afternoon in Oxford. A friend of mine is a midwife and yesterday I asked her if she'd heard of him, she said he's a FANTASTIC obstetrician, and the books that he has written they use for reference and he's got a new book coming out. Woo Hoo, I'm so pleased she's recommended him. Sounds like I'll be in good hands. Just need to make sure I don't go into labour before the 17th, because he can't do me as an emergency , only elective.

We need a new thread soon.

Let's come up with some name suggestions.

My mind's blank at the moment , didn't get much sleep last night

OP posts:
FlossALump · 07/09/2007 09:47

oh, hiwbb - she was last time and would love to be this time too. you hadn't misunderstood. The midwife did say about not waking her up - but she's a light sleeper and would be upset if I didn't.

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/09/2007 09:54

oh. Is DP cool about it all?

OP posts:
FlossALump · 07/09/2007 10:05

Lets just say I owe him a little something!! I have no idea when i'll go into labour - every chance it won't be till after mum goes so no point getting stressed about it really. Just don't like to feel a bit stuck in the middle.

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/09/2007 10:08

But, poor you feeling stuck in the middle. What is a girl to do!? You're right, don't stress! x

OP posts:
hayley2u · 07/09/2007 10:10

hi everyone hope all is ok. cant believe having baby on wed feling so disorganised arh. it aint half come quick, but then same time very slow if that makes sense lol

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/09/2007 10:12

Thread name suggestion....

'Due Sept 07...The first thing I will do is....... eat Brie, Parma Ham, drink wine and anything else banned... then, I will tie MY OWN shoelaces!'

Now that took HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE mental effort.

What do you think?

OP posts:
TwitmonstEr · 07/09/2007 10:32

Good morning all.

title thread name time again hmm?

how about:

due right NOW!....NOW!... NOW?

v tired all the time but still no baby.

39 weeks today

canadianmum · 07/09/2007 10:34

Fab thread name HIWBB, you could add "and tidy my own ladygarden" but that might be a bit rude!!

My boys had a better drop off at school today and I managed not to cry, although I do still have that horrible abandonment guilt for about an hour after drop off. DS2 says school is "boring, hot and too long". Great! And he is only doing half days at the moment .

Am still worrying that baby is OP, but I am doing my best not to recline at all. Had real trouble trying to sleep on my left last night, found it very uncomfortable for some reason, what is this baby doing?????

canadianmum 38+6 or 40-8

TwitmonstEr · 07/09/2007 10:44

I haven't taken mine this week, but next week will have to. I'm not looking forward to it tbh as its alot of walking.

[am feeling sorry for myself and must stop it now!]

Chattyhan · 07/09/2007 11:34

Flossalump - i agree, don't stress, take it as it comes

Hayley - i know what you mean about time being fast and slow at the same time!

Canadianmum - glad the DT are settling in well.

TwitmonstEr - don't envy your walk to school is there anyone else who can help for the next few weeks? Do you know any uni students who are still off and could take your kids for a bit of cash? or other mums?

Waiting for MIL to come and pick up DS! He'll be gone until sunday so a nice quiet couple of days for me!

38+5 (40-9)!
