Just thought I'd get the shiny new thread up and running. Well done Twit on the thread name

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Norfolkbumpkin · 05/09/2007 23:33

I don't know whether anyone else is still up but my waters broke about an hour ago after a half hour sitting just gently rocking on the birthing ball watching t.v. GULP!! Felt fine when I got off the ball, went upstairs to get pyjamas ready for a shower when I suddenly felt water trickling down my leg. My first thought was 'must get downstairs to vinyl floor in kitchen and off the recently fitted carpet'!! priorities eh?! Phoned delivery suite who gave advice and sure enough the pains I am now feeling are just like nasty period pains. I'ts funny how I haven't had a period for nine months and it all comes rushing back how sh*y they make you feel. Don't feel tired at all now although I suspect I should go to bed and try to get some rest. I guess the thought of possible induction spurred me on.

GiveMeMoreMash · 05/09/2007 23:37

Hi Norfolkbumpkin,

I've not posted for ages but thought I'd try and catch up with the news and saw your message. Good luck and I'll look out for a birth announcement soon!!!

EmLouT · 05/09/2007 23:55

Congratulations Trinity - what a beautiful name!

Norfolk - how exciting - keep us posted and good luck.

I should be asleep by now but my mind is racing and I can't seem to switch off - the sooner this baby is out the better.

Night all!

Norfolkbumpkin · 06/09/2007 00:05

The period-like pains are every 4 minutes or so at the moment. I am starting to feel really sleepy now so think I will try to get some shut eye if I can. dh has retrieved the waterproof picnic blanket from the cupboard for me to sit/lay on to protect our lovely new memory foam mattress. Didn't think to buy anything more suitable and the bin bags we have stink so don't fancy laying on them all night. I'm off the bed, will keep you posted.......

Norfolkbumpkin · 06/09/2007 00:06

Sorry, I meant off TO bed, not off the bed. God I must be tired!!

dal21 · 06/09/2007 06:39

Ohhhh! Norfolkbump - how exciting!
Wonder if you are still resting or had to head into hosp.....positive vibes coming your way!

Well I slept like a log last night. Dont ask me how that works! Think my body has realised lack of sleep will kick in once bub is here and is giving me my last few nights of bliss!

Am off to get haircut this morning and do some more last minute shopping. Think I need to stay busyish today....keep my mind occupied!

Hope everyone is ok - think we have a couple of appts today? Good luck at them.
Have great days!

MrsFish · 06/09/2007 07:44

Oooooo good luck Norfolkbumpkin, hope it all goes/has gone well for you

Well I am up and dressed and ready to start the day, but ds is still in bed - typical - will have to wake him up soon as he is in nursery all day today. I have my appt with the mw at 11.30 and then off into Derby to do a spot of shopping, saw some nice boots in Clarks that look comfy, for winter so am going to try them I don't think I need any more baby stuff.

Hope you all have a good day, bet you are excited for tomorrow aren't you Dal, it must be so odd knowing when exactly you are going to have lo

FlossALump · 06/09/2007 08:14

MFish, I have app at the same time as you!! Hopign MW will be able to tell me if baby seems huge or not...

Chattyhan · 06/09/2007 09:48

Kinki - i love the photos!

Clainne - i agree with Mrs Fish - i'd keep it to yourself as you don't know for sure!

Norfolkbumpkin - by the sounds of your night you're probably at the hospital! Hope things are progressing well for you and look forward to hearing how it went

Hello to everyone else and enjoy your last pregnant day dal21! i wish i could say that

Generally feeling better than i have in weeks these last couple of days! Don't know if thats a good sign or a bad sign but after months of hating being preg i'm actually feeling pretty normal!

MrsBumblebee · 06/09/2007 10:04

Trinity - congratulations!! And what a lovely name.

Clanine - yes, I agree, probably best not to say anything if you can. One friend of mine knew the sex all the way through from 20 weeks while her husband didn't (she wanted to know, he wanted a surprise). She managed to hold out all that time, then let it slip during labour (when I guess your mind's not exactly focused on being discreet ). But would be nice to maintain your DH's surprise if you can manage it!

Kinki - love the photos! Your new ds is absolutely gorgeous, and the photo of father and son asleep on the sofa is so sweet.

Norfolk - how exciting! Good luck!!

Dal, glad to hear you had a good night - though posting at 6.39am doesn't sound like much of a lie-in to me .

Well, I had some really sore period pain type things yesterday lunchtime, but bugger all else since then, so maybe nothing. I think LO has been a bit less active than normal since, which is making me a bit nervous, though I have felt a few small movements. Luckily I'm seeing MW today so hopefully she can check me out.

Love to everyone else!

thomcat · 06/09/2007 10:28

Loving reading the news.
Massive congrats to you at home with your new little ones.
And good luck to those still left.
TC xx

MrsFish · 06/09/2007 10:59

Congratulations FioFio - Just read another thread on Chat, she has had a boy, 7 pound 8oz iirc

ccpink · 06/09/2007 11:15

congrats to trinity and a big awww to kinki - he looks fab.
Intrigued to know how norfolk is - seemed very calm though - hope I will be that calm
I've just rang and left message for mw as one boob is now really painful - water from shower was like hell - hoping all will be ok. Madly I have had mastitus before[despite no babies before] and it felt similar but then I waited until went red too!!!Hoping it just means they are ready for little one to arrive.
Decorator coming back this aft. Think I'm going to have to have a very early lunch as hungry already. Still not done my freezer food either...some of you lot put me to shame
speak later

MrsBumblebee · 06/09/2007 11:56

Big congrats to FioFio!

Pissed off. Just had call from doctor's surgery cancelling appointment this afternoon . Rescheduled for tomorrow, but that means it will probably be the dragon MW again, as Friday is my regular MW's day off. Don't want to wait until next week, though. Luckily, LO has decided to move about a bit more since last post, so at least I'm not worried about that any more.

kyala · 06/09/2007 11:58

Hello my lovelies, hope you're all holding out well

MrsFish: Sounds like you had a day and a half y'day! hope it's better today! Glad your DH will be there at the weekend, I'm sure that's a big relief for you, I count myself lucky that my Dh has set days off but it does mean that I'm holding out the weekend so his paternity leave doesn't start on a day that he's got off anyway! (Have told him that if I do go into labour on a weekend not to tell his colleagues until the Monday morning! That way he gets his weekend plus his 2 weeks off)

Congratulations to Trinity (Oriana Liberty, that's an amazingly gorgeous name!)Norfolkbumpkin: You're probably a bit busy, but good luck anywho

The rest of you all sound far too happy to reply to [raspberry face] I'm feeling a bit crappy today so am going to lunch (in the pub round the corner due to being banned from leaving the house, heehee, he'll never know!) but I have a bit of a funny tummy (nope, no period-like pains ) and chronic indigestion/acid reflux type thingy
Still, at the very least it's just got nice and sunny so lunch will be held outside (Ooh, honestly didn't think I'd manage a smiley face whilst talking about my day!) DD's been a good girl today so far, hope she keeps it up! Also had a realisation that she tends to be well behaved more on days when she has a cotton nappy on, rather than disposables (which is usually on a day when we're out and about LOL just when I want her to be good) and then, of course gets a bit ratty if she's got a disposable on at night too, might try a cotton one for tonight too!

Talked to DH last night about what to do for our anniversary, and what he would like, telling him it's leather and he immediately replied with "A kinky whip!!) I was not impressed (considering my comment to you ladies y'day about me probably not wanting to even insinuate that I'd ever want sex again!! LOL Also told him this and he stopped with the kinky talk LOL)
He still couldn't come up with anything, and said that I shouldn't buy him anything (but you know he'll only be disappointed if I don't!)

Anywhoop, hope you all have a good day, and that you're all having this nice weather too!
Dal enjoy your last day of pregnancy (should that be freedom?! LOL) Make sure you've got everything ready, I'm still not totally sure I've got everything ready, and am now fretting that, with all the new-born clothes sorted, this baby's going to be a monster and not even need new-born clothes, but be straight into 0-3 month size (And I know someone sho had to do exactly that), so would mean the things that I have actually managed to get organised would have to be reorganised! You know it's going to happen, just cos it's me
Later ladees

CC, sorry, forgot to give sympathy that you're feeling rough. Sounds like a good idea to get it checked out. Know what you mean about being hungry - I've just wolfed a great big slice of banana and chocolate loaf as 'pre-lunch' .

MrsBumblebee · 06/09/2007 12:02

Kyala, an upset stomach (i.e runny tummy) is apparently quite a common sign that you're about to go into labour - so who knows, it could be soon!!

Wow, my third post in five minutes. Can you tell I'm bored?

EmLouT · 06/09/2007 12:25

Hi all.

I wonder how Norfolk is getting on - I am sending lots of good vibes.

I have had an eventful morning. I had a definite show this morning and have just got back from an apptmt with my doctor and he has decided to induce (because of my high blood pressure) over the next few days. I have to phone tomorrow to find out when I am going in - it all seems very real now and I am getting nervous!

Dal - hope you have a good day today. I am sure it is very difficult to relax! We will all be waiting for news tomorrow!

kinki · 06/09/2007 12:31

Just updating list for now. Will post more later.

Trinity, congratulations .

And you too Fio - hope you are recovering well from your section! Looking forward to hearing about it from you.

ccpink, hope your boob's feeling better. Are you able to express anything from it at all? In the shower was probably the best thing.

Kyala, am hoping for you your dodgy tummy is a good thing! Enjoy your lunch. DS and I just had egg and soilders. Just don't know what to do this afternoon - bus to Aldi's or housework...

Midwifes was fine. BP wee and all fine. She thinks I'm 2/5ths engaged which can only be good! Says that after getting to 3/5ths engaged can go into labour at any time. So feeling slightly cheered. Reckons this one is going to be bigger than my 7lbs 7 oz DS, but bearing in mind he arrived 9 days ago IYSWIM I'd pretty much figured that to be the case. Says it isn't too huge though - hope she is right!!!!

DP and I thought baby had moved down of late as I now have several very deep stretch marks at the bottom of my bump. My bump is still quite high too, but if baby is that engaged perhaps it isn't going to drop really very much more.

My mum is now coming for the weekend again, poor DP. They get on, but she's been up several times lately. She is very much hoping I'm going to go into labour for her as she wants to be there. DP doesn't want her there and I don't know what I want so feel a little stuck in the middle!!

Sigh

MrsMar · 06/09/2007 13:25

Hello everyone, congrats Trinity and Fio!

Good luck Norfolkbumpkin, I hope all goes well, looking forward to hearing the news!

Kinki - What a cutie pie Liam is, takes after his brothers

Dal - I hope your last day of being pregnant is nice and chilled. This time next week I'll be having my cs so I hope it all goes welll tomorrow and I look forward to hearing all about it (if you're up to it )

Sorry for shortness of post, I'm just dashing off to meet my ante natal girls and I'm running late (of course!)

I hope everyone else is well and not too frustrated with all the waiting!

xx

ccpink · 06/09/2007 14:32

floss -yes I am - only just tried when you asked but now freaking out. Not a lot though was probably the gentlest/shortest squeeze ever. Does this mean it's normal?! Feel like a hypercondriac [excuse spelling] mw hasn't rang me back yet so you lot are my only advisors - unless I ask the decorator!!!lol - only kiddingwill I be leaking/hurting until birth? sorry for tmi and all questions

kyala · 06/09/2007 14:50

Back from lunch, still wanting to eat though I'm going to be a complete fatty by the time this baby comes!
Ooh that's cheered me up mrsbumblebee, thanks

EmlouT: Good news then! Aw that's so cool, it could be any day for you too then?!

Flossalump: Thanks for the vibes am feeling much better since having lunch (still dodgy tummy but now I'm thinking it could be a sign, but mustn't get my hopes up, bound to be just dodgy tummy otherwise LOL)
Bus trip sounds fun, mind you I'd do anythign to get out of the house, maybe that's another sign, I remember just wanting to run away last time, just before labour, think it's an instinctive reaction, wanting to be alone and safe to give birth etc. . .

Just a quick thought, my MW hasn't even given me a clue as to whether LO is engaged/how engaged, any ideas whereabouts it'd be if she's put it in my notes? Have just been through them but can't see anything that looks like a clue!

Ah so, got the rest of the day to look forward to, all I want to do at the moment is make pretty things for me to wear, rather than any real nesting instinct kicking in! But I can't even get into the sewing room cos of all the baby stuff (mainly the spare pushchair that we're trying to get rid of!)

Wow! Just had a real moment there! There's a rather large bird outside circling, looks like it's after one of the smaller birds too blooming sadist over here! Hope I get to see it get it's lunch LOL
DD is now sat nice and quietly watching "Little red tractor" all is good in the house so what now. . . Washing or baking? Baking it is then!

EmlouT - induced! At least that gives you a firm date. But with a show sounds like things are starting anyway....

Congratulations fiofio!

ccpink - sorry about your discomfort. I didn't have any probs before birth last time and haven't again this time but i hope you get some answers soon. you could try a hot flannel - supposed to help with engorgement pain or the other thing is a cabbage leaf. Both normally post birth suggestions but can't hurt!

Chattyhan · 06/09/2007 15:02

kyala - in my notes engagement is 'relation of pp to brim' It's recorded in fifths so 3/5 is 2/5 engaged. They sometimes say free if not engaged HTH
