Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@Dav87 cramps are definitely normal from everything I've read as the muscles begin to stretch.
Talking of stretching.... my friend used a body oil from the day she found out she was pregnant to try and keep stretch marks at bay. If anyone uses one or can recommend a pregnancy friendly one let me know?!

Missdrifter · 22/11/2019 21:48

Welcome @Hollielouise and @dav87 and congratulations. You aren’t alone with feeling anxious and the googling of every symptom, I am very guilty of that.

Had my letter today for my dating scan.. 8th January. Has anyone else got a cold? I am bugged up/bunny nose and keep sneezing!

Kiki275 · 22/11/2019 22:34

@Missdrifter my toddler has kindly passed onto me pretty much every bug going around nursery. Everything is running (except my legs, I can't run for a bus), even my eye (conjunctivitis) and what are we allowed to take for any of it... paracetamol only... Yay!! 😩 x

mywrencalls · 22/11/2019 23:31

@Hollielouise ...Maybe the faintest of crampy feelings once or twice but nothing noteworthy.
I'm spending too much spare time reading everything pregnancy related and need to remind myself that I've got ages to go just to get to 12 weeks so trying to just relax a little and not let it be all consuming at this stage Grin

Easier said than done though!

Nelbert19 · 23/11/2019 09:09

Hello all, another first timer here. I’m 4+6 (I think!) and super excited/anxious! Apparently POAS is my new hobby Hmm

Had a chemical pregnancy in April so really hoping this one sticks. Getting away with very few symptoms at the moment, so hard to really believe it

rhirhibumblebee · 23/11/2019 09:47

Congratulations on all the new BFPs! I rang my GP to let them know I'm pregnant and they booked me to see the midwife for Monday. DID NOT expect it to be so soon! I'll be 5 weeks Monday. With my other two children I was around 8 weeks when I saw the midwife. I'm so nervous as I had two episodes of a tiny bit of blood last week so I'm hoping they may let me go to EPU at 6 weeks for a scan. (Had a chemical last month) . Also my BFP was on 9dpo so I can't help but wonder if I'm further than I think. If not I've looked at private scans, really not in my budget right now with both my son's birthdays in December but I'm so nervous !
Any one else feeling really tired ?? I'm definitely off food too xx

mywrencalls · 23/11/2019 10:01

@rhirhibumblebee Did you have a choice as to what date you could be seen? I was going to call my Doctor's and find out how to book but don't really want an appointment until the 8th - 9th week. So maybe I should call and book in about 3 weeks time instead?

rhirhibumblebee · 23/11/2019 10:12

@mywrencalls Every GP seems to work differently. I was at a different GP with my other two boys and both worked differently, so I was a bit confused. Apparently at this GP I'm at now, the midwife sees you early to take your details, urine and health info etc and then sees you between 8-10 weeks to book for the scan. Other people have said they fill a form and the midwife rings them. So maybe call and check how yours work , I think usually it's 8/9 weeks xx

mywrencalls · 23/11/2019 11:13

@rhirhibumblebee Thanks for that info Smile I shall ring Monday and see what they say.

hermionelodge · 23/11/2019 19:23

Hi All, I would like to join you lovely ladies please. Just got my BFP with my first! I'm 4+5. I came off the pill in August so I really wasn't expecting this to happen so soon! Very excited and also very very nervous! So far only symptoms are sore breasts and a weird taste in my mouth! I have a huge fear of being sick.. to the point of panic attacks when I think I'm going to be sick so I am quite anxious about morning sickness. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy journey! Excited to be sharing it with you all. I just want to tell everyone!!

mywrencalls · 23/11/2019 19:29

@hermionelodge I have a fear of sickness too, caused by the fact that I suffered with hyperemesis with my first (and only) 20 years ago Sad
Kind of hoping that the fact I am 37 now, might mean I'll get away with it.
Wishful thinking I'm sure.

I'm just under 5 weeks too. Good luck with your journey!

hermionelodge · 23/11/2019 19:49

Oh no mywren that must have been awful! It's a huge fear of mine. I have my fingers crossed for you that you don't have the same experience this time!

Ethellsmum · 23/11/2019 22:04

Hey everyone 👋. I’m currently 6+1 with my 5th pregnancy. It was a huge surprise. I’m 38 and my eldest is 16yrs, youngest is 6yrs.
With my 1st I was oblivious and hardly worried, this pregnancy I am a nervous wreck - I’ve done 6 tests in the last week. I think we will have an early scan as I have so many friends who have gone at 12 weeks and had bad news. Planning on keeping quiet for as long as possible (I’m rubbish at that) as I want to have as many tests/scans etc before I tell the kids. The downs screening came back high risk last time so I’m worried about again.

JackGordonsMummy · 23/11/2019 23:20

Congratulations on your Pregnancies everyone! I'm 5 weeks today with Baby number 2 so due 24th of July(according to my LMP (last menstrual period)). My DS (darling son) was 2 on the 2nd of Nov!

I am also feeling terrified something is going to go wrong every little cramp or stretch I feel in my abdomen freaks me out. So nice to have others to talk to.

With my DS (darling son) I was sick from 6-23 weeks I felt like I had a bug that just wouldn't go away I was in bed the whole time. I'm just hoping it doesn't happened again this time because I have a toddler to look after now i don't have the luxury of staying in bed Haha.

So far I've had mild nausea in the mornings and through out the say when i get hungry. Tiredness but the worry seems to be giving me insomnia! Cramps and stretching in my uterus. Heightened sense of smell and sore beasts but they do come and go they seem to be more painful at night!

Hollielouise · 24/11/2019 07:40

Congratulations @JackGordonsMummy and @Ethellsmum 🎉💐
Totally understand the anxiety! We will be going for an early scan as well.... I was hoping to wait until 8 weeks. I've had quite a bit of cramping and, as this is my first I'm just sure what's normal! Morning sickness has also already started - I've been up since 4am eating dry toast! Any tips on how to manage it?

hermionelodge · 24/11/2019 07:55

hollylouise how far on are you? I just found out yesterday and last night I had quite painful cramps at bed time. Barely slept for worrying. Google has been my friend all night. Most seem to suggest it's ok and normal so crossing my fingers all goes well! This is such a nerve wracking time. I haven't got any nausea yet so can't help you there unfortunately but I will be watching for tips as I really struggle with being sick and feeling sick. Not ideal when pregnant haha.

Mimi91 · 24/11/2019 07:58

@Hollielouise lemon and ginger tea works wonders for my nausea and cramping Smile

Hollielouise · 24/11/2019 08:06

@hermionelodge I think I'm 4 weeks and 3 days. Congratulations on finding out last night! Totally agree - I've googled endlessly and it seems to be ok as things are just bedding in and stretching. I haven't had any bleeding but light spotting seems to be ok at this stage as well if that happens.
Ha I'm useless with nausea and sickness! Fingers crossed it doesn't get any worse...!

@Mimi91 thank you for the tip! I'll be stocking up 😊

mumof1babe · 24/11/2019 09:21

Congratulations to everyone who has recently joined the thread! Been feeling awful the past 2 days, morning sickness is well and truly kicking my ass 🤢 can't shift this constant nausea I feel like I'm on a boat if that makes sense? And I have a 17 month old to run about after which is definitely not fun right now lol. Tried ginger biscuits but I really don't like ginger, if anyone finds any good ways to deal with morning sickness please give me a shout, with my Ds nothing helped and I was miserable until around 24 weeks!

9 days until my early scan and the time just doesn't seem to be passing quick enough, I'm nearly at the stage where I lost my last pregnancy so the anxiety is gradually increasing!

betsy26051 · 24/11/2019 09:58

Hiii ladies, yes they all GPs seem to work so differently! When I was pregnant with my little boy 4 years ago my gp set my booking appointment. This time I had to ring up myself.... my appointment is 4th dec when I will be 9 weeks.
I have been so sick this time around with nausea from the moment I wake up until i fall asleep Sad I'm now off sick and on anti sicknesses tablets. Had none of this with my first pregnancy!
At my booking appointment I'm going to see if they will let me have a scan on this side of xmas just so that I feel better about telling people why I've been off work!

Missdrifter · 24/11/2019 18:29

Hi ladies, I contacted the midwife referral and still have notified my doctors. My booking appointment isn’t until 23rd December.

How is everyone feeling? I still have very few symptoms. I am spending a fortune on clear blue digital to check that my levels aren’t going down but it still says 3+!

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 18:36

Hi @missdrifter it’s good to hear from you!
I got 3+ on a Clearblue at the end of the week so promised DH I would stop poas 🙁 as you said it’s so expensive too!
I’ve been struggling (mostly through the night) with nausea and very urgent & loose toilet trips (sorry if that’s tmi!) and tender swollen boobs - but nothing unbearable!
How have you been? I’ve read that the most common time for symptoms is from 6 weeks onwards so you might notice something this week.. and then long for the days you had no symptoms!

Missdrifter · 24/11/2019 18:47

@amysara24 thanks for the reply. My boobs are only sore if I prod them and I have had a few waves of nausea but nothing much at all. I never thought I’d be wishing to feel sick! Have you told anyone else yet? We went to my parents today and I was so tempted!!

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 18:54

@missdrifter I’ve not told anyone else yet - just the dr/nurse/midwife and my mentor at work. My parents live in a different part of the UK, and I’m desperately trying to get them to visit before Christmas so we can tell them in person! My in laws also live in yet another different part of the uk and we are seeing them at new year so planning to tell them then. It’s getting harder not to tell them all, as we are very close to both of our parents! I’m just hoping to hold off another couple of weeks until the first scan to be sure everything is ok before I get their hopes up.
My parents especially have been with me every step of my journey at the fertility clinic and so know we have been getting treatment, so it’s difficult for me not to let it slip to them!
Have you thought about when you’re planning to tell anyone else?

Missdrifter · 24/11/2019 19:01

@amysara24 that will be so exciting telling both sets of parents. When did you say your first scan is? We haven’t told anyone yet either other than someone at work, because I am also a teacher but in a SEN school so the children can be quite physical. I am just literally counting the days until the 5th of December and hopefully get to see a heartbeat. I am still struggling to take it all in, lack of symptoms make it not feel real yet
