Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@missdrifter I’m pretty symptom free too (apart from eating all the bread in the city, but I think that’s more to do with quitting smoking than being pregnant!) I want a bit of nausea to convince me this is really happening - the 6 pregnancy tests don’t seem to have convinced me!

I met my mum for lunch last week (I was 4+3) and the first thing she said was ‘are you going to tell me I’m a grandma?’!! I’m pretty sure she might be a witch. I tried denying it, but I came clean in the end!

I’m telling my sisters next weekend, because I’d tell them if I was having a MC anyway. I’ll also be telling some close friends in a couple of weeks because I’m supposed to be going on a boozy weekend in Berlin and I’m too anxious to go at this stage (they’d definitely work it out if I went and didn’t drink too!)

Feels like a lot of people to be telling so early, but they’re all people I would tell if I miscarried anyway, so makes sense to me to tell them I’m pregnant first?!

The majority of friends and colleagues will be told in the second trimester.

What’s everyone else doing about telling people? Am I being silly/over excited?

Missdrifter · 24/11/2019 19:09

@nelbert19 I am pleased I am not the only one then. That’s all true, when I spoke to my midwife on the phone she said the whole waiting until 12 weeks thing never came from a midwife because like you said there are people who would be a good support if anything bad was to happen. Haha that sounds like something my mum would say too.

We are planning on telling family over Christmas when we will be 10 weeks. Do you have your scan booked in yet?

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 19:13

@missdrifter my first scan is actually the fertility clinic one on 11/12 when I think I’ll just be about 8 weeks! If all is well then I will tell my best friend as her and her do are coming to stay the following weekend and they would 100% know if I wasn’t drinking!
I definitely agree that if something went wrong we would want support, so don’t think telling anyone before then is wrong, I’m just so anxious myself I think! None of it really seems real yet!

Missdrifter · 24/11/2019 19:16

Me too @amysara24 I am going to wait until it all feels real. The days are really dragging. The weekends used to fly by and now I find myself willing them to hurry up so that I can tick off another weekend. 8 weeks is a good time for a scan!!

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 19:24

@missdrifter I know! I never thought I would wish the time away as much as this but it really does seem to drag! I hope so, they said they would try from my tummy first but might need an internal scan to get a better picture. Hopefully if they do we will at least see something that might make it sink in!
DH has started to ask how “the bean” is, so maybe it’s starting to sink in for him!
On a side note, end of July due date - how perfect for us teachers? Haha

Missdrifter · 24/11/2019 19:31

@amysara24 yep I know it’s ideal for the summer holiday. My partner is also a teacher too so would work out so well. Aww that’s nice, I often think it must be harder for the man to have it all sink in but my partner has also been talking lots about it, to the point where I have to tell him to stop because I am scared about becoming too attached yet!

Nelbert19 · 24/11/2019 19:48

@missdrifter I’m still waiting to hear from the midwife - only did my self referral on Friday. The next 24 hours went SO SLOWLY that I’ve booked a private scan at 8 weeks so I can actually believe there’s a baby in there!

The wait is excruciating!

Nelbert19 · 24/11/2019 19:50

@amysara24 that’s lovely your DH is calling it little bean - mine won’t even read the baby book I got him because it’s not real to him at all. To be fair I only got it about 72 hours ago and I might be a bit over excited..!

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 19:55

@Missdrifter that would be perfect for both of you then! I definitely think it’s harder for them though as they can’t “feel” anything at this stage.
@Nelbert19 it took 3 weeks of tests for my DH to really acknowledge that we had a positive, though because of the trouble we had I know he’s still being very cautious just incase.
We are both the same, we’ve said we are excited but not letting ourselves get too excited just yet because it’s so early!
I’m really starting to worry about dehydration though, I’ve had to run to the loo 6 times today and it’s been totally liquid. No matter how much water I drink it seems to come straight out. Made the mistake of googling and it says more than 3 times a day for a few days can cause trouble - this has been me for about 6 days now....

Nelbert19 · 24/11/2019 20:01

@amysara24 peeing or the the other?? If it’s peeing, don’t listen to google, peeing more often is a symptom of all the progesterone you’re producing! (Unless you’re also crazy thirsty, in which case get a blood sugar checked)

If it’s the other, just keep your fluids up and keep and eye on your pee - if it gets dark, you’re starting to get dehydrated so a trip to the GP may be in order

It’s easy to worry about every little things at this stage isn’t it??

ninemonthwait · 24/11/2019 20:04

DH and I are really struggling to believe it still at the minute. Desperate to see a healthy heartbeat then I think we will relax a bit and start talking about it and planning ahead. Still not a single symptom for me other than slightly sore nipples which I think is contributing to not believing it. I have another digital clear blue which I am going to do the end of next week then just one more week until my scan. Time is just going sooooo slow!!

Nelbert19 · 24/11/2019 20:17

Same here @ninemonthwait

Is this your first?

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 20:29

@nelbert19 the other 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’ve not been weeing as much this week but I reckon that’s because I’m losing so much fluid the other way! It’s definitely strange how all of a sudden every little thing is a symptom one way or another!
@ninemonthwait I think seeing a heartbeat will make it so much more real. I’m hoping we get that at the first scan!

ninemonthwait · 24/11/2019 20:29

@Nelbert19 yes it is, taken 15 months and one cylce of Letrozole (easy compared to some I know) so optimism unfortunately is a word which has left our vocabulary.... Trying so hard to stay positive and praying this is our time!

How is everyone doing with exercise? We have a dog so do a lot of walking but I think after my scan I am going to get back in to some gentle gym work (tiredness permitting)...i have no upper body strength so need to change that so I can carry around a baby all day haha!

Nelbert19 · 24/11/2019 20:40

@amysara24 aw poor you! Are you taking pregnacare? Gives lots of people a funny tum!

@ninemonthwait No wonder you’re anxious, this baby’s made you wait long enough! Many good thoughts being sent your way.

I’m doing Pilates, a 20 minute run followed by weight training (light weights while preggo) and yoga. I’ve also got a dog and a 3 mile round trip walk to work, so keeping myself busy! I have hyper mobility, so really trying to avoid painful loose ligaments as the pregnancy progresses

I somehow still eat enough on top of all of that to be overweight. Sigh. I don’t know how skinny people do it

amysara24 · 24/11/2019 20:43

@nelbert19 I’m not, just folic acid. Who knows what it is - hopefully it will stop!

We have 2 dogs too, but to be honest I’ve just been too exhausted to do anything much! I have a 2 hour each way commute to work which I’m finding tough at the minute too with the cold weather! Hopefully when I get over the tiredness we can start taking the pups on longer walks!

Nelbert19 · 24/11/2019 20:50

Ah yes, I haven’t been hit by the fatigue yet, so activity levels may take a sharp nosedive in the next few weeks..!

Ansisa · 25/11/2019 09:24

Hi everyone! Found out about a week ago, big shock as we have been in process of getting help from the fertility clinic, I’ve got PCOS. Think I’m 5+1 but from LMP would be further along, don’t think that’s right because of long cycles.

Feel mostly normal, a bit tired and very sore boobs. We have booked an early scan for next weekend as wanted to know how far along and that hopefully all ok.

I’m so distracted all the time! How is anyone getting anything done!

LittleMrsMama · 25/11/2019 11:55

Congratulations on the BFPs everyone!!

I'd really love your advice ladies! I've been having terrible morning sickness all throughout the day, going to be sick (but most of the time not) and feeling very nauseous and tired. Getting the tube into work in the morning is unbearable and I know my boss would be really supportive of me being at home if I told her... but otherwise really wants me in the office. I faked a cold last week to leave early but it's not sustainable.

However, we're having a big restructure in January and I think I'll be negatively impacted if she knows I'm pregnant. I saw it happen to another person in the team earlier this year.

Is anyone else in a similar position? Any advice on how I can hide the pregnancy but still not come in? It'll be easier over Christmas!

Kirstybee23 · 25/11/2019 12:41

@ninemonthwait I am the same as you hardly any symptoms so cant actually believe it.I dont think I will stop being anxious until i see a heartbeat on that 12 week scan!

rosiegirl19 · 25/11/2019 13:50

I'm 5 + 3 due on 24 July! Only feeling tired and a bit of cramp so far, so excited Grin

Chlandy · 25/11/2019 14:46

@rosiegirl19 we're due date twins based on my lmp and exactly the same symptom wise! I'm also so bloated I already look about 4 months gone 😂 Is this your first? Congratulations x

rosiegirl19 · 25/11/2019 15:16

@Chlandy Congratulations to you too date twin! It is my first I'm so happy I still can't believe it, how about you? I think I'll book an early scan before Christmas it seems too long to wait until January xx

Chlandy · 25/11/2019 16:12

Thank you @rosiegirl19 , this is my 2nd, my little boy is 3 but we've been trying for 2 years for baby no 2 so very anxious, I'm worse than I was first time round 🙈! Yeah I can't wait that long either I've booked one at 7 weeks just for reassurance then if all is ok, I'll have one at 9 weeks before Xmas 💕! I think 12 weeks is such a long time to wait not knowing anything! Xx

Missdrifter · 26/11/2019 18:06

How is everyone feeling today? I think I am 6 weeks today or tomorrow and apart from feeling tired I still don’t feel pregnant. Not sure if I should be worried or just try and enjoy feeling ok?
