Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

Hey there @LittleMrsMama, congratulations and welcome!!

You're so right about being conscious of people round you who are trying. I fell pregnant unintentionally in September and it was so difficult to tell my BIL and his wife as I knew that they had been trying and she had just found out she wasn't pregnant that month, I went on to mc and they found out a few days later that they were pregnant, they were so good and spoke to me and my husband first and asked us if we were ok for them to tell the rest of the family which I found really caring of them. My SIL was absolutely devastated when we Mc so they were one of the first people we told apart from our mothers when we found out we were pregnant again and my SIL broke down crying very happy tears for us. This is her first baby and she says that she is so so happy that we get to experience this together and our babies will grow up cousins as well as best friends. I must say I was devastated for us when they told us but so pleased for them, it has made me really conscious of how I tell people moving forward as we never know the battles some have when TTC.

This baby is due one month after my DS 2nd birthday so going to be a very busy month or two, if anything like my first they may have a much closer birthday! Anyone else's LO due around the time of another special day? My DH was born on his dads birthday, talk about stealing the lime lite lol 😆

Nixipop · 20/11/2019 19:19

Hi ladies! Can I join pleaseee?
I will be 5 weeks tomorrow and due around 23rd July with our first baby! Got my BFP last week and still can't believe it's real.

I haven't told my DH about how I feel but I am so anxious something will go wrong, checking every time I wipe and nervous at every tummy pain! He is just so positive and excited. Does it ever go?! 😂
Will only be 10 weeks at Christmas but decided to book for an early scan around 9 weeks and if all is well 🤞🏼 we are going to tell our close family! Going to call to book the first midwife appointment tomorrow!
I'm already stressing about not drinking on Christmas dos (I'm a known party goer when out!!) What's everyone else's plans to avoid the obvious questions? I've been out for a meal today and enjoyed mocktails which was quite nice :) xx

LittleMrsMama · 20/11/2019 19:31

Thanks @mumof1babe I'm so sorry you and your BIL + wife have had to go through such a tough time. It's great you're so close though and can be genuinely happy for oneanother despite each of your own challenges at the time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a happy and healthy pregnancy for you this time round! I am constantly nervous of miscarrying and very small brown spotting this evening and petrified something's wrong. It's very worrying!

Kirstybee23 · 20/11/2019 20:00

Hey all
I'm new to the group just found out I am 3 weeks 6 days pregnant I am trying not to get excited as it's still very early days and I had a delayed miscarrige in august. I am a little anxious in case it happens again but fingers crossed it doesn't. We have decided not to tell a sole until the first scan. The next 2 months are going to drag! X

LittleMrsMama · 20/11/2019 20:11

Congratulations @Nixipop ! I'm also feeling anxious all the time but planning to let close family know at Christmas. I imagine some of the anxiety will improve once we've had our first scan but it's my first time at this pregnancy thing! Re drinking during Christmas I've planned to be the designated driver to everything. Perhaps you could pretend you have something on the next day?

@Kirstybee23 congratulations and welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you! I'm thinking of telling my two best friends this week because I just feel like I need their support and would want them there if something happened. It's a shame that the time we'd need the most support (first trimester with risks of miscarriage and being sick) is the time that traditionally we wouldn't tell anyone

Kirstybee23 · 20/11/2019 20:20

@littlemrsmama yes it's a strange thing that we feel the need to keep it quiet when deep down I just want to shout it from the roof tops. We told a small number of people last time but ended up telling more anyway after the MC so it's silly we keep it quiet really. I would love to tell some family at Christmas as that would just be magical. I find it quite fun hiding the fact I'm not drinking Haha. You can get non alcoholic drinks that look like alchol like wine etc so no one even notices Haha

Nixipop · 20/11/2019 20:21

@LittleMrsMama yeah I think designated driver will have to be the one! I do normally have one and drive so will just have to say I'm knocking that on the head!
I really hope you're right and the anxiety goes after a while. I just want to enjoy it!

My DH is adamant he doesn't want anyone knowing until we've had the scan but it's killing me not telling anyone. I know I need to respect what he wants, not just what I want. I just want someone else to talk to about it, plus my 2 best friends have young kids so I feel they'd get it. So hard isn't it!

@Kirstybee23 so sorry for your previous loss. Keeping everything crossed for you and everyone else in this post for happy and healthy pregnancies ♥️

Kirstybee23 · 20/11/2019 20:52

@nixipop thanks I wish you all happy & healthy pregnancies too 😊

How is everyone feeling I'm just really hungry all the time more so at night time!

EnglishRain · 21/11/2019 07:38

Congrats to all the newcomers!

I got my 3 weeks + today on clear blue which is fab. Hadn't even got to 2-3 before so this is like the second milestone! 5w2d today I think.

stepmumma91 · 21/11/2019 07:57

Wooo! Congrats @EnglishRain!

Probs a silly question, but does anyone dye their hair and if so, what are you plans for dying it in pregnancy? Read a bit about it, most things say it's safe but a couple say you might want to wait til after 12 weeks? Everything is so conflicting!!

Kiki275 · 21/11/2019 08:11

@stepmumma91 I died mine throughout my last pregnancy, but always by a hairdresser. She wouldn't bleach it during this time. As I've gone blonde since, we've already discussed tactics if I became pregnant again and we'll go for a root fade. If you're comfortable discussing at this point, I would x

Kiki275 · 21/11/2019 08:12

Dyed even 🤦‍♀️ x

Kiki275 · 21/11/2019 08:19

@Nixipop what's your tipple of choice normally? Spirits are the easiest to get away with pretending. If you're at home Prosecco is easy to swap too. There are some really nice low % beers too. Wine is the hardest, especially as I've not found a decent one yet.x

Bananacake20 · 21/11/2019 08:31

Hi everyone - can I join too? Smile got my bfp on Monday afternoon (clearblue 2-3 weeks). Booking in appointment will be on New year's Eve! Due date should be late July/early August I think? It's my first baby so I'm a bit anxious but also excited and impatient! Congratulations everyone Grin

Nixipop · 21/11/2019 09:14

@Kiki275 I'm big on prosecco and red wine! I did try an alcohol free beer yesterday and enjoyed it :) I've tried nosecco before so think I'll be getting some of that! Just hard if you're ordering at the bar with other people! 😂

@stepmumma91 my mom and sisters are my hairdressers and I know they've said before to avoid dying to the scalp, ends should be ok to dye, just risky isnt it, but also preference! My greys are starting to come through so unsure what I'm going to do lol x

Chlandy · 21/11/2019 10:40

Congratulations everyone! I'm sorry to everyone who has gone through losses before and praying we all have sticky babies and healthy pregnancies this time! I'm 4w + 5d according to my last period, I'm a little concerned I've no nausea yet (I had MS bad by now with my first) I've also got a niggling twinge pain that's about an inch to the right of my tummy button and has been exactly there for the past 24 hours now... has anyone had similar? Or does anyone think it's a cause for concern? Other than sore boobs and an aching back and odd tummy cramps I've not had many symptoms but this twinge is a new one to me! Thank you xx

stepmumma91 · 21/11/2019 12:56

@Nixipop @Kiki275 thank you! I think I'll hold off, just have horrendous roots for the time being 😂

Can you believe this, my other half has only just told me that he he has a friend who is a midwife at our local hospital?! Got him to message her today and she's going to do our booking in appointment for us. I've also bombarded her with questions 😂 why wouldn't he tell me before?! Would have avoided some worries for the last week 😂 men ay!

Missdrifter · 21/11/2019 16:24

Oh my gosh.., I didn’t know about not having hair dyed!! Mine desperately needs doing, plus it’s
my friend that usually does it and I hadn’t planned on telling her until 12 weeks. Is it all dye?

For those of you who are booking early scans, when are you thinking for? I want to wait until at least 9 weeks but starting to think about getting one at about 7 weeks to just check things? My midwife didn’t really suggest it was a good idea so I am stuck!

stepmumma91 · 21/11/2019 16:55

@Missdrifter I'm going 7 and 9 :)

Missdrifter · 21/11/2019 17:26

@stepmumm91 ohhh maybe I might do that too then! I am still not really having many symptoms so I am a bit worried 🥴

EnglishRain · 21/11/2019 17:58

I think I'm doing 6.5, 8.5 and maybe another one before the NHS one. It might sound like overkill but I've been through the fertility pathway as far as I can bar IVF, and had two chemicals in the last year. My mental health won't cope getting bad news at 12 weeks that I could have had sooner.

Missdrifter · 21/11/2019 18:08

@EnglishRain sorry to hear about your chemicals and that makes sense. I think I am going to book one for 7 weeks now and then if that goes well then book another for 9 weeks. I am feeling incredibly anxious and I think I’d rather know sooner than later if anything is wrong.

Chlosavxox · 21/11/2019 18:19

@EnglishRain I'm having early scans too - I completely agree with you about rather finding out earlier! I've got one booked in 3 weeks when I'll be 8-9 weeks pregnant and the wait is killing me!

Missdrifter · 21/11/2019 18:20

I have just booked a scan for the 5th of December when I will be 7 weeks 2 days 😬

Missdrifter · 21/11/2019 19:45

@amysara24 how are you feeling today and did you book an early scan in the end?
