Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@EnglishRain that's so wonderful! So glad everyone is having great scans, I think I'll be one of the last to have mine. Counting down the days!

@Kiki275 Omg congratulations!! That's amazing!

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 16:22

Congratulations @EnglishRain and @Kiki275 what a lovely surprise too!

Did your MW’s mention any Nuchal measurements ? Mine didn’t really discuss much detail with me, I wish I had asked more questions now.

squirrelnutkins1 · 10/01/2020 16:27

@Kiki275 oh my life!!! How come the other wasn't spotted before?! That's crazy! What a blessing eh!

Kiki275 · 10/01/2020 16:31

@Missdrifter the measurements are sent for analysis and you'll get posted the results. Your MW might not know anything yet x

ninemonthwait · 10/01/2020 17:00

@Kiki275 wow what a surprise indeed!! Very exciting x

@EnglishRain glad everything went well with your scan! It's so nice reading everyone's happy updates

@Kiki275 wow! That's amazing! Can't believe that wasn't picked up earlier... congratulations!

EnglishRain · 10/01/2020 19:03

Oh wow @Kiki275 what a shock! One of them must have been hiding before 😁

Thanks all. Due date has been pulled forward a couple of days to 19th July, making me 12+5 today.

Told a few close family/friends and they are all thrilled, didn't expect them to be quite so ecstatic! First grandchild for my Mum, third for my PIL but they've not had a baby grandchild before so I think they're quite excited for that.

@Missdrifter they told me there was no point me having the screening because the NIPT was superior, so I didn't have it. The sonographer told me it looked nice and normal but no more than that. I think it really is an indicator, I've seen so many posts where people had a higher than average measurement then got the NIPT or their bloods back and were actually low risk xx

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 19:11

That’s great news @EnglishRain. Did they tell you your nuchal measurement? I am trying to work out where I stand with mine of 1.8mm! I kind of wished I had the NIPT test done now!

ninemonthwait · 10/01/2020 19:16

@Missdrifter from what I can figure from reading online I think anything below 2.5 is OK but even if you get higher the result is combined with your blood test as to whether you are high or low risk

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 19:29

Thanks @ninemonthwait I hope it’s ok together with my bloods and age.

LucyLucyT · 10/01/2020 19:54

Wowsers @Kiki275 what a surprise! Are you still in shock?!

@Missdrifter my measurement was also 1.8mm and just got my combined screening results back as low risk.

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 19:58

@LucyLucyT thats fab news and you must be so relieved!

Ethellsmum · 10/01/2020 20:40

My NT measurement was 2.0

Southy84 · 10/01/2020 20:50

A lot to catch up on from the last couple of days!

@HairsprayBabe sorry you’ve been having such a hard time, that’s such a shame DH work are being such hard work 😓 and what a worry with shingles too, hope you’re doing ok at what seems like a very stressful time.

@zeeeex I’ve had a day of cramping today, but it’s finally eased off. Hope yours has stayed away too.

@missdrifter , @EnglishRain and @ninemonthwait so glad your scans went well :)

@Kiki275 wow I can’t believe the private scan missed a baby! Did the NHS scan shed any light on how one could have been missed? How exciting though congratulations on your twins

@hermionelodge it’s such a worry having spotting, I had some more during the week too. Hope you’re doing ok x

I’m hoping I haven’t missed anyone, sat on my phone scrolling through comments like a crazy person, DH just asked what I’m doing haha. For anyone I may have missed hope you’re doing ok too :)

EnglishRain · 11/01/2020 02:56

Going to have a bit of a moan here if that's alright.

I've been up for an hour an a half with what I think is a bout of IBS but pregnancy constipation means I am struggling to go! It's so painful. I've sat in a bath and paced circles around the house. I finally think I'm making some progress but it's a cruel trick from my gutsSad

Feel rotten, painful tummy which then makes me worried about the pregnancy. And I've been sick a few times since I've been up too. Got to be up and out by 7.30 tomorrow, really hope I magically feel better in the next half hour. IBS sucks!

EnglishRain · 11/01/2020 04:15

Finally dared get back into bed, but struggling to sleep now! Got a niggly belly still and I know it's probably the IBS, but that doesn't stop me worrying about the baby Sad

hermionelodge · 11/01/2020 05:57

@southy84 thanks, it really is awful. Mine seems to have stopped now and I'm just having back pain and headaches now. Hope your spotting stops too X

@EnglishRain what an awful night you've had! I hope you managed to get some sleep and are feeling better this morning. I had a really upset stomach on Sunday night and was up all night with pains and back and back and forth to the toilet. Logically I know it was the food I had but it doesn't stop you worrying. I'm sure everything is fine with baby. I don't think we will ever stop worrying X

LucyLucyT · 11/01/2020 07:00

@EnglishRain sorry you are getting that, not fun at all. Hope it settles.

I am also having toilet troubles, on and off constipation but for the last few days I've been struggling to pass urine easily first thing in the morning. The urine is there but I think my uterus is obstructing my urethra or something, I have to keep altering my position until I go and that's with quite a bit of pushing so to speak.

I've googled (I know!) and there seems to be a small ish proportion of women that get this around 13-15 weeks, I'm 13+5. I'll see how I am over the weekend but might speak to the unit on Monday if it's getting worse. By all accounts as the baby moves up out of the pelvis it sorts itself out after a few weeks. Obviously I could be completely wrong but that's what it feels like somehow. I might pop into work and check I don't have a UTI but when I do go, urine is nice and light, not smelly so don't think I do! Ahh pregnancy is more fun than I ever imagined 😂

ninemonthwait · 11/01/2020 08:07

You only ever hear about a pregnancy glow and none of this other stuff that comes with it!

amysara24 · 11/01/2020 09:29

@Kiki275 wow two! I bet that was a surprised especially after having had a scan so recently! Massive congratulations!
Reading through the past few days it seems a lot of us are having pain / spotting so I took a screenshot of this from the nhs website, it’s a list of common symptoms around week 12 so hopefully everything we’re experiencing is totally normal! 😊

Late July Due Date
hermionelodge · 11/01/2020 10:11

@amysara24 thanks for posting that. It's definitely reassuring to see. The headaches are real just now too! I don't like taking paracetamol but having to do it just now as my head feels like it's going to burst every evening! On the plus side, I usually have to wash my hair every day but this past week it hasn't been greasy at all! Got 3 days without having to wash it! It's super thick anyway so always a chore!

amysara24 · 11/01/2020 10:16

@hermionelodge I found it so reassuring and definitely worth sharing! I was prone to migraines before anyway (the dr rushed me to A&E once thinking i was having a stroke - was a bad migraine!) so I have prescription pills for them which apparently are safe during pregnancy. I’ve not taken any since though as I’m just not entirely sure, and they knock me out for the whole day!
I honestly thought getting my bfp would lead to 9 months of bliss and excitement - didn’t anticipate all the anxiety that comes with it! No one ever talks about that!

Southy84 · 11/01/2020 11:38

Hoping you’re feeling a bit better now @EnglishRain I had a IBS flare up just before Christmas and it was so incredibly painful, really worried me, it’s the cramps I hate, hopefully you managed to get some sleep.

Glad your spotting has stopped @hermionelodge mine was just one morning and just stopped, it really messes with your head doesn’t it...

@amysara24 thanks did that info that is reassuring x

@LucyLucyT I haven’t had a problem passing urine but in past pregnancy have gone through a stage of going for a wee then laying down in bed and immediately needing to go again, so it sounds like it could be pressure on your bladder, I’d definitely keep an eye on it just in case though, hope it gets better soon

mywrencalls · 11/01/2020 12:59

Thanks for posting that list. I had a little scare yesterday morning. TMI but I've not been regular with number twos, finally managed to go yesterday but has a slight (vaginal) bleed afterwards. Bright red Sad ... Didn't dare mover for a few hours. It promptly stopped and now back to normal clear discharge.
No cramping or any pain with it all. Nothing since either.
I googled it and seems it can happen after a bowel movement if you have a sensitive or irritated cervix.

I've not spotted at all this pregnancy so it was quite alarming. I did text my midwife as she told me to with any concerns. But she hasn't text me back. So not sure why they offer that service!

Southy84 · 11/01/2020 14:02

That’s exactly when I had my spotting @mywrencalls I called my epu and they said they thought it would be cervix And weren’t concerned. It stopped after that so I didn’t make a dr appointment
