Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

I've been having pretty much constant cramping since about 6pm. Is this something I should be worried about?! 😣

hermionelodge · 10/01/2020 06:35

@EnglishRain congratulations on your results and your baby girl! How lovely!

@HairsprayBabe that seems so unfair for your DH! Definitely worth looking into more!

Good luck on your scans today ladies, please do let us know how you get on @ninemonthwait and @Missdrifter

@zeeeex how are your cramps now? Unfortunately I have no advise. I have been crampy all week and again this morning they are back and a bit stronger. I am hoping it's just the uterus stretching as the baby is doing so much growing just now. Hope you're feeling better.

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 06:47

Thank you @Hermionelodge I will update on here after the scan, fingers crossed. Good luck again @ninemonthwait.

@zeeeex my friend had been having bad cramping from weeks 10 - 13 but her scan showed that everything was perfect and what she was experiencing was likely to be stretching pains. You could phone your midwife just encase if you think that will put your mind at rest?

amysara24 · 10/01/2020 08:01

@zeeeex when I was at hosp on Tuesday they told me period like cramps were totally normal over these next few weeks, as baby becomes more of a baby and less of a bean so womb and everything around it is having to stretch!
@ninemonthwait and @Missdrifter good luck today! Let us know how it all goes 😊

zeeeex · 10/01/2020 08:16

Thanks so much for all your reassurance! The cramps seem to have stopped now, and I've never experienced any bleeding / spotting which puts my mind at ease a bit. I have my first appointment with my midwife on Thursday so will be sure to mention it.

I know its different for every hospital but how long did it take for your midwife to refer you for your first scan? I'm going to be around 12 weeks at my initial midwife appt, so hoping to get the scan booked asap to put my mind at ease.

hermionelodge · 10/01/2020 08:52

@zeeeex glad it's stopped now. Unfortunately I've been having brown spotting all week so not sure what to think.

I'm in Scotland, I had my first midwife appt at 7 weeks and my later came through 2 weeks later. Not sure if yours will be quicker. I'm sure i read in some places your midwife books your scan date there and then at the appt. Hopefully you won't have long to wait

zeeeex · 10/01/2020 08:56

@hermionelodge I'm in Scotland too so hopefully it's the same process! Excited to see my wee Brussel sprout again 🤣

squirrelnutkins1 · 10/01/2020 09:10

Are you using the Ovia app?? I told hubby baby is the size of a Brussel and he turned his nose up 🤣 so we went for profiter (no idea how to spell!) roll instead! Seems cuter some how 🤣🙈 @zeeeex sorry about your cramps. I've got left sided cramps today but don't know if it's just cus I'm a struggling a bit with going to the loo Confused

mywrencalls · 10/01/2020 09:10

@zeeeex I had my first midwife appointment on 4th Jan (10 weeks) got my scan on 16th Jan. It was already booked before I got there and she just told me there and then.
I'm in Warwickshire, and booked with Birmingham's women hospital.

I've not had the stretching pain yet, kind of makes me nervous. In the mornings when laying in bed, I have a feel around lower abdomen but my stomach is still really really flat. Also making me nervous Confused cos I'm worried nothing is in there!

zeeeex · 10/01/2020 09:13

@squirrelnutkins1 profiter roll 😂😂 I know what you mean!! Still so small!! I want a bump so I don't just feel chubby!

zeeeex · 10/01/2020 09:15

@mywrencalls I'm the same with regards to bump! Every morning I wake up I'm looking for something but still nothing. It will feel more real when the bump appears! Is this your first? Xx

HairsprayBabe · 10/01/2020 09:16

The law is he can get time for two appointments - but they don't have to agree to the two appointments he wants is their argument.

I have had a absolute fucking disaster of a time in the last few days, there seems to be a new crisis every single day and I am bloody fed up.

First there was this thyroid thing, then the scan, on Wednesday night the waste pipe from the upstairs toilet literally exploded all over the garden shit literally everywhere.

The cherry on top? Yesterday DH was diagnosed with bloody shingles for a tiny rash I thought was an allergic reaction. I have never had chicken pox so I had to go for emergency blood tests to see if I have natural immunity so waiting on those results now.

I was worried about CP from the start as I had never had it - more that DSD would bring it back from school. Never thought my husband's immune system would betray me!!!

I feel like my life is a total mess I am so stressed and tired and I am still being sick and feeling nauseous 24/7.

12 weeks today and I have not enjoyed a single day of this pregnancy yet.

@amysara24 they are some amazing bargains glad someone is having better luck than me.

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 09:19

Hi ladies, my scan went fine and I had the screening tests done so just need to wait back for that now. Feel like it’s another thing ticked off the list 😊

HairsprayBabe · 10/01/2020 09:21

Also I have a bump-ish in the evening it is bigger, I was slim any way pre-pregnancy although not by MN standards usually an 8-10, I have lost weight through the HG and I never gain on my tummy normally so could be more noticeable? Plus it is hard not squishy - it could just be bloating but it is very bump-esque

mywrencalls · 10/01/2020 11:32

@zeeeex No this is my second, I'm 37 and had my first child 20 years ago so massive age gap haha. Feels really weird because I feel like a first time mum all over again. Everything is so different now!

@HairsprayBabe I really feel for you, you've had it so rough with the HG and then everything else on top of that. What was your thyroid thing? I've been hypothyroid since age 25, currently though I have an overactive thyroid so be consultant led this pregnancy.
Fingers crossed everything gets better for you and yur DH from here xxx

@Missdrifter Glad your scan went well, did they tell you the nuchal measurement there and then? Is it written down anywhere for you to see? Because of my age I feel really paranoid and what to know as many details as possible asap Confused

mywrencalls · 10/01/2020 11:34

Sorry for all the spelling errors, this pregnancy seems to have turned me into a blabbering mess it seems Hmm

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 11:34

Thanks at @mywrencalls she didn’t tell me the measurement but I watched her take it and it’s also down on my notes as 1.8mm. They took my bloods too and said I should get results in the post within 2 weeks. I am very anxious too. I thought I’d relax after the scan x

ninemonthwait · 10/01/2020 11:54

My scan also went well and measurement in the normal range so just hoping I don't get a phone call in the next week but a letter in two to say everything is low risk. I was there for a while because Baby wouldn't get in the right positions to do the measurements but it was so nice to se of wriggling around! Crazy how much it moves and you feel nothing!

Just told my manager and she was amazing about it saying just take care of myself and don't stress over any work as it is only admin and not life and death. Starting to feel very real now!!

@Missdrifter what was your due date? I'm 13+1 today so due 16th July (the day after my birthday haha)

OP posts:
EnglishRain · 10/01/2020 12:00

Congrats @Missdrifter did they date you in line with what you expected?

@HairsprayBabe sounds like you're having an awful time of it! Hopefully this is a string of bad luck that will end now.

@zeeeex glad your cramps have stopped! So horrible not knowing what's going on in there isn't it. Wish there was a window to see in!

Hope your spotting stops soon @hermionelodge

I've got my dating scan today. Will ask them if they advise the screening now I've done the NIPT. Still scared there won't be a heartbeat. Scan isn't until 2pm, hoping they're not running late else the anxiety may floor me...

mywrencalls · 10/01/2020 12:02

@ninemonthwait Oh gosh I'll be terrified of my phone for a week after the scan then Shock but glad your scan went well too. It's grear when you can start telling people with some confidence, we had to tell family at xmas because we were hosting as I couldn't eat/was sick and I felt really odd about people knowing so early, even though it was just immediate family.
Your manager sounds great! Luckily I work from home for an American company so not much chance of having to see anyone face to face or have to tell them any time soon haha.

I've been on Buccastem for about 4 days now and not felt sick since, makes a massive difference to my life. I can actually move and clean up, and not have to eat every 2 hours. I hope the second trimester is a turning point for all of us x

hermionelodge · 10/01/2020 12:09

Fab news on your scans @Missdrifter and @ninemonthwait so happy for you both!

@EnglishRain the scans are so nerve wracking but everything will be fine 😊

@HairsprayBabe so sorry to hear of all the issues you have been facing! Sounds like a nightmare. Surely now the only way is up! You deserve some relaxtion and to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

At the moment I have no bump. I try and convince myself there is but really it's most likely bloat as it's all over! I'm a 10-12 and always carried a bit of weight on my belly anyway but it's constantly just big and round! Just passing it off as over indulgence...

Missdrifter · 10/01/2020 12:11

@ninemonthwait so pleased your scan went well too. Ours kept wriggling around too so I had to do some shaking of the hips to try and get it to lie flat for measurements. My midwife didn’t say much to me in terms of measurements she just said everything she could see looked good. I have googled my Nuchal measurement and I think 1.8 is a relatively low risk indicator but will see what results are combined with bloods etc.

@EnglishRain yes my dates were exactly what I had expected and due date hasn’t changed. So I am pleased about that. Good luck for your scan!

HairsprayBabe · 10/01/2020 12:40

@mywrencalls when my bloods came back they told me I needed an additional blood test at the end of Feb - didn't say why though. Then when I collected the forms it said T4 and TSH.
Doctor wants to keep an eye on it so I am assuming I am borderline either hyper or hypo but I don't know either way for sure.

EnglishRain · 10/01/2020 15:32

Scan went well! Phew!

Kiki275 · 10/01/2020 15:50

Hi everyone, I need to share with you all. Following a bleed, our private scan on Tuesday dated baby at 11+3 (11+6 today). Went for our chilled out NHS scan today to be told BOTH babies were 12+4. In total shock x
