Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@EnglishRain fab pic! Congrats! X

hermionelodge · 01/01/2020 08:14

Happy New Year all.

That's an amazing pic @EnglishRain! Congrats!

I can finally say my 12 week scan is this month and it cannot come quick enough!! It's on the 21st so still seems ages to wait.i should be grateful I don't have bad symptoms but it's also worrying. And as I've had 3 scans already, this will be the longest stretch without having one!

LillyLeaf · 01/01/2020 11:39

Happy new year. I managed to stay awake for the fireworks but fell asleep not long after it. I feel pretty rough this morning and dreading feeling like this tomorrow at work.

LittleMrsMama · 01/01/2020 15:09

Great scan @englishrain

Sorry I've not been on here for a while. Been feeling a bit down and fed up of being sick all the time. @mywrencalls I've also lost a lot of weight - about a stone but I only weighed 9 stone to start with. Then I tell myself I should feel happy and lucky to be pregnant which I do, and that there are people that would love to have a baby and can't, so then I feel guilty and down like I'm a bad person. Anyone else struggling?

Kiki275 · 01/01/2020 17:51

@LittleMrsMama screw everyone else, you feel whatever it is you want to though guilt should not even be entertained. You've massive changes ahead, hormones surging, sickness and worries. No one will blame you for being miserable, especially not in here. If it's any consolation I've been in a foul mood as I've been working myself up over the downsides of being a mum and how most of what I do is alone. Then sorry for myself as I can't binge on all the lovely Xmas foods left x

LittleMrsMama · 02/01/2020 10:25

Thanks so much @Kiki275 - your message and support really cheered me up. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one feeling a bit down. Being a mum to be is hard (I can't imagine how hard it is for ladies on here with little ones already and pregnant!), is there anything in particular you're worried about? I agree about the binge eating, I really craved Camembert and I know we have have it if it's bubbling hot but just didn't feel worth the risk because if something went wrong I'd (probably wrongly) assume it was that and my fault.

I just hate how much the woman has to go through with sickness, pregnancy, birth, then for most maternity leave and halting careers. I often think how lucky DH is, especially when he keeps saying 'it just doesn't feel real' which I completely empathise with and feel bad for him as it must be hard, but I remind him that it's feeling almost too real for me! LMAO.

Anyway, rant over! So lucky to have you lovely ladies! How's everyone doing? How exciting is it that we'll have our little bubbas this year?!

Kiki275 · 02/01/2020 11:08

@LittleMrsMama I think with the foods to avoid it helps to think in terms of what the risk is. Camembert is a raw cheese so could pose a food poisoning risk. If you've bought it from a reputable source and stored it correctly then the chances of it causes illness are slim, add heat to it and the chances are remote. They don't mention anything on the lists about street vendors etc, but I'd far rather enjoy a supermarket or restaurant purchased raw cheese, vs a burger or kebab from a dubious takeaway.
Then again I'm the worst pregnancy food rule follower so you might want to ignore me 😂. I drink our own raw milk daily, enjoy the occasional medium rare steak and eat salmon as often as I like.x

LillyLeaf · 02/01/2020 17:39

First day back at work is done. It wasn't too bad. Actually everyone was tired so I didn't stand out. I'm incredibly bloated though so had to undo my trousers. I'm struggling to drink water so that isn't helping. Hope you're all getting on ok.

EnglishRain · 02/01/2020 17:56

Well done @LillyLeaf I'm with you on the water thing. I am rubbish at drinking generally, makes me feel bloated and sick!

@LittleMrsMama I totally get you. I used to worry about the career halt a lot, the only reason I'm not so bothered right now is because I work in such a horrific team that anything is better than being there! I'm hoping it will be quite different when I go back, or that the job market will be better. There isn't much about in my sector at the moment and naturally I've stopped looking now because I want my mat pay.

I am wishing the days away at the mo. I'm very bored and aggy, hoping that will change if and when the sickness disappears! Got told I have an anterior placenta when I had my NIPT on Tuesday as well and now I feel all pissy that it will be foreverrrrrrrrr before I feel my baby in there! Better get saving for the private scans to reassure me that all is well 😬

LillyLeaf · 02/01/2020 18:46

Has anyone not got their 12wk scan date yet? I think my MW has forgotten to book one. The scan place has no record of any scans for me. My booking in appointment was on Christmas even so she couldn't book the 12wk scan that day. The scan place just said 'contact your midwife' but I only have a general 'maternity helpline' number. I'll try ringing again tomorrow. I'll be 11 wks on Sunday so don't want it too late.

ninemonthwait · 02/01/2020 19:05

@LillyLeaf mine is on 10th Jan and expecting to be around 13 weeks, can't wait to see the baby again....not sure I will last to the 20 week scan without booking a private one between and def won't make it from 20 weeks until birth without an extra scan!

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 02/01/2020 19:43

@LillyLeaf mine is also booked in for the 10th and I had the date through before my booking appointment. Hopefully you can get through to the midwife tomorrow and chase it up.

@ninemonthwait you must be a few days ahead of me, I think I am 11 weeks 2 days today. I am certainly going to be booking in another scan before the 20 week one. I started to relax after my last scan but feeling anxious again now.

LucyLucyT · 02/01/2020 20:45

Hi all, glad people are doing okay and I definitely identify with the worries about work and the general coming to terms with being pregnant thing!
I had my 12 wk scan on New year's Eve and all was well, nuchal translucency measurement was normal but got to wait for the full results with the blood test as well. Almost didn't believe how much the baby has progressed from 2 wks ago, clear bone structure in the hands and feet and we saw the brain and stomach, amazing for something that is the size of a large testicle 😂. The picture I ended up with was a bit rubbish but I'm just glad we got to see him/her again!
Has anyone used a Doppler? I don't want to over rely on it but we just had a go with one we had already (boyfriend is a gadget type!) and we found the heartbeat fairly easily, wasn't sure if we would or not, was lovely to hear it!

Missdrifter · 03/01/2020 13:20

Congratulations @LucyLucyT you must be thrilled, when did they say your due date is? I don’t have a Doppler although my midwife said that she is happy for me to have regular meets so that I can hear the heartbeat as she has one women who she sees weekly, which I thought was lovely.

Is anyone else struggling with clothes now? I just look like I had put on lots of weight x

pottypotamus · 03/01/2020 13:46

Congrats on your scan @LucyLucyT

@Missdrifter I am also struggling to fit into any of my work clothes and am having to alternate between a couple of oversize jumpers and some stretchy jeggings. I think people at work have noticed a weight gain but luckily with it being Xmas I can just blame it on eating too much!! Blush

LillyLeaf · 03/01/2020 17:02

@LucyLucyT that's fantastic news, it must great getting past that milestone.

My trousers were tight yesterday at work so had them open most of the day, but I was incredibly bloated. I felt awful all evening. Today I wore a pleated skirt and big jumper so was much more comfortable.

I finally booked my 12wk scan. Considering they had forgotten to book one and I had to chase it, I spoke to a very rude midwife which is such a shame because I was being very nice and my mum is a retired mw so I know how hard their job is but there was no need for her. It just put a downer on it. But anyway it's the 17th January and I'll be 12+5.

I'm starting to get a bit nervous (actually very anxious) about my scan and NIPT on Monday. So desperate for this one to work out.

LucyLucyT · 03/01/2020 19:37

@Missdrifter as I had IVF my due date hasn't changed, 13th July for me!
Lovely that your midwife is happy to see you regularly to check on things!

I'm feeling very fat and will have to think about bigger clothes quite soon, I know I have been eating far too much, really need to get back on top of my food intake!

LucyLucyT · 03/01/2020 19:38

Good luck on Monday @LillyLeaf I'm sure your NIPT and scan will be okay, wishing you the best of luck.

Missdrifter · 03/01/2020 20:04

@LucyLucyT I am the same with eating so much and I need to start being more mindful. I have also looked in to pregnancy yoga which my midwife recommended because she said it will help with my anxiety. You must be one of the first in the group to graduate in to the second trimester, congratulations.

@LillyLeaf good luck for Monday it will all be fine and then you won’t have long to wait until the 17th after that.

zeeeex · 03/01/2020 20:15

Hey! Glad I came across this thread. I had a private scan on NYE and they gave me a due date of 27th July - I'm going to wait until my NHS scan which will hopefully be around the 14 week mark. I have an appointment at my doctors with the midwife on the 16th July - not sure how long it normally takes to get booked in for your scan from this point?

This is my scan photo - it's all so very surreal. I haven't told friends / family yet so loving the support on this page 🥰

16th January* baby brain already 🤣

Vickiduduu · 04/01/2020 07:38

Hi all, it's lovely to see all of your scan pictures, can't wait for mine on 16th Jan now, it seems so close yet the days are going slowly. Has anyone else felt period like cramps recently, I had them at the very beginning but am 10 weeks now and they seem to have come back, not bad enough to need painkillers but definately there. Any advice welcome.

squirrelnutkins1 · 04/01/2020 09:02

Hi. I've had cramps pretty much the whole way thru but my 8+4 scan was ok thankfully. Think it's things stretching in there!

Got a private scan today. I should be 10+5. I really really sick with worry. I had some red blood in the night, nothing this morning but pretty sure it was from my wee hole. Gonna keep an eye on it in case it's a water infection or something.

This is the most anxious I've been so far I think 🙁

ninemonthwait · 04/01/2020 09:13

@squirrelnutkins1 hope the scan goes OK today, keep us posted x

Lovely getting a glimpse of everyone scans and hearing due dates now that everyone's dating scans are coming up

hermionelodge · 04/01/2020 09:22

Loving all these scan pictures! Wish the 21st would hurry up for mine. I feel like I can't enjoy this or get excited until I see all is well and pass that milestone.

@Vickiduduu I'm the exact same, I haven't had any cramping since 8 weeks but turned 10 weeks yesterday and the cramps started again. All morning I was constantly rushing to the bathroom thinking there would be blood. They aren't mega strong but enough to panic me. I'm hoping it's just the uterus stretching as the little bean is growing at crazy rates. I still barely have any symptoms either so it's easy to go straight to thinking the worst.

@squirrelnutkins1 good luck with your scan today. I hope all goes well. I had some red blood before a scan at 8+5 but all was well and a nice strong heartbeat was seen. Every thing crossed for you
