Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

Hi everyone, great to jear all your updates Smile ...I finally have my first midwife appointment on Tuesday, I'll be 10 weeks so I'm hoping they get my scan and screening sorted in good time. Being 37 I am super anxious about it.

Symptom wise, I'm having great days and feeling yukky days but the nausea is definitely going. And I'm so happy I can drink water again properly!

Can only eat a few select foods but they're all healthy so that's great.
I've not had ANYTHING sweet at all since week 5. Can't think of anything worse than chocolate, sugar, cakes etc. I guess that's a good thing, but definitely made xmas a bit boring haha.

We're going to have the 'sneak peek' blood test to find out the gender. It's only £59 at the moment so not mich more than a gender scan anyway Smile

LillyLeaf · 29/12/2019 13:36

@Missdrifter I don't have date for my 12wk scan yet. At my midwife booking app she tried to book one but it was Christmas Eve and whoever books them was closed, so she said she would book it after Christmas, I hope she remembered. I might call tomorrow to chase. We'll find out the gender from our NIPT test but will absolutely book a 16wk scan, then probably tell our parents after that when we visit them.

@amysara24 that's a fantastic bargain, I'm purposely not looking at the sales in case I'm tempted. Love a good discount. Hopefully there'll be more discounts before July. But right now I wouldn't have a clue what was good or not. I like to do my research.

Symptoms are a bit random. I felt pretty good yesterday, wasn't very tired. But today wake up with a headache and was nauseous all morning. I really need to drink more water but I don't fancy it.

Missdrifter · 29/12/2019 13:43

@amysara24 that’s such a bargain, my friend bought that bundle second hand earlier in the year and paid more than you have. I couldn’t find anything online for when they are actually closing unfortunately.

@mywrencalls good to hear from you. I am 34 and asked my midwife if I should be concerned about anything and she said it’s only the getting pregnant part that gets harder after 35 but everything else is fine until after 40, so try not to worry. I didn’t even realise there was such thing as a blood test to find out the gender. When can you have that done? X

ninemonthwait · 29/12/2019 13:57

@mywrencalls lucky that you are into healthy things, I am the complete opposite and just need carbs or sweets! The Christmas period had made it harder to attempt anything relatively healthy but I have set out my mission for 2020 and the baby will only get goodness (and maybe the occassional cake!)

Is anyone else suffering with dizzyness? The last few days every time I stand up I take a while to adjust and today everything just feels like it is spinning - hoping it doesn't mean anything bad, looking online may be due to growing uterus putting pressure on blood vessels.

@Missdrifter It's sent to your house, you do it yourself, and it's sent back to the US. It's called Sneak Peek, I had a look into it and it's all legit etc. I like the idea of it because I can do it from home. I think they've not long been offering the service in the UK and so it's not really heard of here. I think it's usually £79 but on offer at the mo for £59. It can be done from 8 weeks. Amazing really, everything is so different from when I had my first!
I think it's easy to read things online and get paranoid, I've already set myself up for a bad result from the screening tests, evem though chances are everything will be fine. The internet can make you so anxious!

@ninemonthwait I was really dizzy a few weeks back but it's gone now. I was getting a bit concerned but after a week or so it disappeared.
I couldn't eat xmas dinner, and then couldn't eat anything sweet and nice either. So felt really sorry for myself! Going to treat myself to a carvery once I can eat properly again.

amysara24 · 29/12/2019 15:40

@LillyLeaf I’m the same with feeding etc, I just don’t know! Plus I’m reckoning there will be deals at a later date too. The pram was the exact one we had our eye on from the start and so it was just too good to miss! I used to work in next too, and had a horrible habit of buying baby clothes using my discount (or when I had first pick in the sales) so we’ve got a few bits put away clothes wise too! I’m terrible I know!
@Missdrifter I don’t doubt I’ll be in again soon, if I remember I’ll ask one of the staff if they know yet!

pottypotamus · 29/12/2019 16:41

Thanks ladies, I'll give the hospital a call tomorrow to see if I can bring the scan forward by a few days.

I've been feeling dizzy as well. A few times I've had to stop, steady myself and let the stars clear before I carry on with what I'm doing.
The queasiness is still there, no signs of it abating yet.

LucyLucyT · 29/12/2019 18:24

@ninemonthwait I get dizziness if I stand too quickly but actually that's something I suffered from time to time before being pregnant. You're doing the right thing, try and sit up the. A few seconds later stand, get your balance and then move off, same as for my older patients!

The Mothercare sale is tempting but I still don't feel quite ready to buy stuff yet!

mywrencalls · 30/12/2019 09:16

Anybody else lost weight? I've lost half a stone in 3 weeks. I'm pretty sure I'm eating enough most days, my calories tend to be around the 1600-1700 mark, which pre pregnancy would have probably made me gain weight.
I'm a size 12 so not particularly overweight.
I guess in the first trimester things can be awful so maybe some weight loss is expected?

LucyLucyT · 30/12/2019 09:42

@mywrencalls haha I wish! I dare not look at the scales! I lost 4.5 stone to get IVF I've definitely put at least a stone back on during my cycles, probably more now as just want carbs all the time. Don't worry too much, I know some people do lose some weight initially with sickness etc.

mywrencalls · 30/12/2019 09:50

@LucyLucyT It's mind boggling, I'm eating a veggie fry up every morning Shock albeit a healthy fry up. Never in my life have I had a fry up everyday for weeks haha. I guess I shouldn't moan really, I gain weight easily and so was expecting to be a whale by now Grin

LillyLeaf · 30/12/2019 12:00

I don't think I've gained much, maybe the odd pound but it had been Christmas and I've barely moved. Anyone back at work yet? I'm back on Thursday, I don't know how I'll cope, I've been spending the first half of the day laying on the sofa, then an afternoon nap. At least it's only 2 days then the weekend.

vickivix1 · 30/12/2019 14:09

Wish i had lost weight have gained 7lb thats prob over 2/3weeks, so have tried to ditch some crap and be a bit more healthy.
Im not back to work until 8/1 as im part time :) woke up this morning feeling really 🤢 and it hasnt shifted. X

pottypotamus · 30/12/2019 17:48

I'm scared to go on the scales but I think I've prob put on 2kg from before being pregnant this time Blush I've just been craving potatoes!!

I managed to get through to scan dept today!! Woohoo 🥳 my local hospital is notorious for being on answerphone constantly and not getting back to you.

They managed to bring my scan forward a whole week to the 15th Jan, so according to LMP I'll be 12+4 and a couple of days a head according to earlier private scan. So relieved that I should be able to get all screenings done fingers crossed everything else is ok! 🤞🏼

LillyLeaf · 30/12/2019 17:53

@pottypotamus that's fantastic. I think I need to chase mine so I can arrange work around it.

pottypotamus · 30/12/2019 18:02

@LillyLeaf yeah I'll have to ask work for a day off because I have an appt at ds school in the morning anyway and the scan is at 2pm. That way I don't have to ask if I can pop out for an appt. my office is full of women and tongues will definitely start wagging if I say that.

vickivix1 · 30/12/2019 18:24

Thats brilliant @pottypotamus xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 30/12/2019 20:36

@LillyLeaf great news! Was thinking of you 😊

I'm counting down the days to Sat so we can see (🙏🏻) our little one wriggling away. I'll be 10+5 then.

I feel absolutely huge today. I was back at work today and was like 'I'm so bloated after eating badly over the hols and having a few days away' and everyone was like yeah me too! Not the smoothest of covers but hey ho 🤣

Oh wow, glad you got a good deal on the pram! I'm not at all superstitious but don't dare buy anything. Wonder when we will actually dare! @amysara24

Has anyone had their medical exemption form? The midwife said she'd post it out the day after my booking appointment but that was a few weeks ago and I've not had anything. It's so you don't have to pay for prescriptions or the dentist.

@pottypotamus glad you've sorted your scan date. It's the day before mine. Eek!

I've only put a pound on so far but I'm expecting this weeks weigh in to be a lot more!!!

LucyLucyT · 30/12/2019 21:41

@squirrelnutkins1 my midwife gave me the form that he'd signed and I completed the rest and sent it off, got my exemption through about a couple of weeks later I think, maybe less.

squirrelnutkins1 · 30/12/2019 22:00

@LucyLucyT ah, I'll give them a call to chase then. My midwife is lovely but does seem a little scatty- she only wrote half her mobile number in my book 🤣

EnglishRain · 31/12/2019 15:21

Managed to fall off this thread somehow! Trying to catch up but so many posts. Welcome to all the newcomers. Happy New Year to everyone too.

Had NIPT done and a scan today, results (including sex) by two weeks tomorrow at the latest. Baby was flailing around like crazy! They saved some video clips to watch back. I think I'm 11 + 0 they think I could be a day or two ahead of that. Baby looks so much more like a baby than at the 8 + 5 scan I had 🥰

Still keeping the news relatively quiet but hoping you ladies don't mind if I share my scan with you.

Late July Due Date
LillyLeaf · 31/12/2019 15:48

@EnglishRain that's a fantastic image. I'm having mine on Monday at 11+1. I was hoping the results wouldn't take that long, so much waiting.

Missdrifter · 31/12/2019 16:49

@EnglishRain wow that’s such a great scan picture. I had a scan at 10 weeks 4 days on Saturday and mine wasn’t half as clear. Is the NIPT something that you get done privately?

EnglishRain · 31/12/2019 17:40

Thanks @LillyLeaf and @Missdrifter I was quite pleased with it too! I've seen some amazing scans for a certain gestation and then some quite blurry ones. My bladder was virtually empty today too, and it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Yes the NIPT is private still. I paid £400. Some NHS hospitals offer it and you can pay them to do it but plenty don't. I daresay it will be the norm in years to come, but it isn't a diagnostic test, it still just gives you an indicator albeit a much more accurate indicator than the NHS combined tests.

vickivix1 · 31/12/2019 17:41

Ooo what a fab scan picture 🤩
Pleased all is well hun, and brilliany on finding out sex too so early!!
Getting excited now :)
Happy new year to you all xxx
