Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@LillyLeaf have you tried hot Vimto or Ribena? They're fab this time of year (especially the full sugar version) if you have a cold or need to warm up. Also try a selection of fruit or herbal teas. I love Rhubarb teas, but peppermint is good for gas/nausea if either are an issue x

Ethellsmum · 27/12/2019 20:01

Finally got my scan date - 7th. So I will be 12+4 with my dates but 12+1 going with the private scan measurements. I’m so nervous. I don’t think I will relax at all this pregnancy. I just wish I could blink and be 20 weeks pregnant.

squirrelnutkins1 · 27/12/2019 20:15

Glad you've got a date @Ethellsmum

I don't feel preg at all today so obv now thinking the worst ☹️ wish I could click my fingers to the birth! I always imagined loving pregnancy!

Missdrifter · 27/12/2019 20:49

@squirrelnutkins1 I go through stages of not feeling pregnant too. But since 9 weeks I have been feeling sick? Is that really late for nausea to start? Some days I feel fine but today at 10 weeks 1 day I feel really sickly. I had nothing before 9 weeks. I also imagined loving pregnancy as soon as I got a BFP but so far it’s been the most anxious time ever. X

ninemonthwait · 27/12/2019 20:58

I think as soon as I start getting a bump and further on in the pregnancy I will love it, getting to the 12 week point seems to be taking forever!

@Missdrifter @ninemonthwait I keep telling myself that some people have no symptoms at all and have no idea they're preg so me not feeling sick and bloated for one day hopefully isn't a problem! Hard tho. Such an anxious time.
Got a private scan next sat so I'm just wishing my time away so we can see how things are in there 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yeah a growing bump would add some assurance I guess and hopefully having the lovely preg lady glow!
I'm not sure re nausea, everyone's experience is so different isn't it. Some days I've felt sick all day mildly, other days it's late afternoon, other days it's been an awful headache followed by horrific nausea and today nothing really at all 🙈 wish I could have a scan every day!

LillyLeaf · 28/12/2019 09:52

@Kiki275 I'll try that.

@Ethellsmum I haven't got a date for my 12wk scan yet, I'm hoping it won't be too long after 12wks. I think maybe after 20wks I might start to relax a bit, I really want to enjoy it.

@squirrelnutkins1 I think it's so hard when we read the pregnancy books and apps that say you should be feeling this or that and if you don't have those symptoms it makes us feel anxious. I'm the same, some days I've felt fine others not great. I'm starting to feel very anxious about my scan tomorrow, like I'm about to fall down a black hole.

pottypotamus · 28/12/2019 10:05

Hello ladies, can I join? I recognise some of you from other threads 👋🏼

I'm 10w today, still feeling the all day nausea which is starting to become a real problem because it makes me feel like just lying down and not doing a single thing. I think it's starting to grate on my DH a bit.

I got my scan date through - 22nd Jan. just seems really late. I'll be 13+4 from LMP then. From a private earlier scan, I was out forward 2 days so would be very close to when they can't perform the combined screening. Would you ladies advise that I try to bring it forward or just leave it and hope for the best?

LucyLucyT · 28/12/2019 11:28

Hi @pottypotamus welcome. Congratulations on your pregnancy, I know how you feel, I'm normally very active but have been doing hardly anything, even walking for about 3 months because of side effects from fertility treatment initially and now the ongoing nausea and tiredness. I'm hoping in the next few weeks it'll pass though!
With regards your scan I'd probably want to speak to them and see what they say, even if you could bring it forward a few days it would give you a bit more leeway at least.

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/12/2019 13:12

@LillyLeaf that's so true. I've come to think all pregnancies are different so you just can't say what's normal and what's not. I'm back to having some nausea today and feeling tired. We're away for a few days so trying to enjoy it but really I just want to fast forward exactly one week to be in the private scan room.

So sorry you're feeling that way ☹️ what time is it tomorrow? Hope it's not too late in the day.

Are people having the downs/edwards etc testing? I'm not sure how I feel about it. So much to think about 😩

LucyLucyT · 28/12/2019 13:59

@squirrelnutkins1 I'm having all of the screening on offer but I'm 36 so know the risk is a bit higher

LillyLeaf · 28/12/2019 15:09

@pottypotamus I would maybe request an earlier scan if you can and explain that you might be earlier due to your scan.

@LucyLucyT for this whole year I've either been pregnant, having mcs or having IVF treatment so I feel like need to be active again. I might start gentle jogging after 12wks, I need to do something.

@squirrelnutkins1 luckily my scan is in the morning so no waiting. God I hope it's all ok. I'll be doing the NIPT at 11+1 then the NHS screening at the 12wk scam. I've just turned 37. My embryo was actually tested for chromosomal abnormalities and was normal but it's not a 100% so we thought we best do the extra testing.

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/12/2019 15:52

@LucyLucyT that's understandable x

@LillyLeaf wow, what a year for you. Bet you're drained in every sense of the word.
It's so stressful having all these choices to make. You grow up thinking getting preg is a total breeze and you'll have a bit of sickness in the first trimester then in a flash you've got your newborn in your arms but it's just not that simple for some! Let us know how you go tomorrow, hope you can start 2020 feeling positive and confident 😊

I've been doing some first trimester work outs on YouTube. I've not felt up to the gym as much. I'd only go on the cross trainer tho, no weights. It's just not worth the risk.

Missdrifter · 28/12/2019 16:16

Hi ladies. I am also having the screening for downs and Edwards!

Welcome @pottypotamus I think I recognise you from a previous thread. Your scan does seem quite late, mine was on a date that didn’t work for us so I asked for a different date and they rang me with various options. So if you would prefer it earlier then you could always give them a call.

I just had an early scan and it showed I was 2 days ahead of what I thought making me 10 weeks 4 days. Hoping I can try and be a bit more confident now.

ninemonthwait · 28/12/2019 17:35

@Missdrifter glad your scan went well. I have def felt a lot less stress since having my private scan, 11+1 now with my dating scan on 10th Jan and because we have shared the news with parents the excitement is creeping in.

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 28/12/2019 18:04

@ninemonthwait our nhs scans are the same day and it’s less than 2 weeks away now yay. I bet your parents are very excited, I can’t wait to tell mine. We are trying to hold off until the 10th but we told my partners parents over Xmas because we spent it with them and I couldn’t get away with not drinking. Have you started to buy anything yet? X

vickivix1 · 28/12/2019 19:01

Welcome and congratulations to everyone, christmas has been busy so havent had chance to pop on much.
How you all feeling?
Nausea reslly kicks in from lunch tome here until bedtime soo annoying.
12 week scan is on 16/1 I think then it will feel more real. I havent told anyone yet other than my daughter
Am also going to have all the tests as im 36 and know there are risk factors so just want to make sure all is ok xx
Also have an appointment for glucose testing due to 2 previous pregnancies with gestational diabeties x

ninemonthwait · 28/12/2019 19:29

@Missdrifter DH got a born in 2020 babygrow for me on Xmas but other than that won't be buying anything until after 20 week scan. We have booked in to lots of free classes which the Midwife told us about so having lots of things in the diary makes it seem like no time at all until July although I know if the last 2 months are anything to go by it will drag!

@vickivix1 sorry about the nausea! I have been very lucky with hardly any sickness but that has just added extra worry that something is wrong - can't win either way!

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 29/12/2019 12:21

@ninemonthwait that’s so sweet. This is the first time I have started to allow myself to get excited and have started to look at stuff. Mothercare is closing and they had some good deals on prams etc but I just wish I was a couple of months ahead. What is your due date? Mine is the 21/07/20 now.

@amysara24 how are you doing? Have you started to tell people other than immediate family? I can’t wait to tell my parents x

ninemonthwait · 29/12/2019 12:26

@Missdrifter 17th July was the date from our private scan but not marking anything down until we have had our NHS dating scan. We are going to see friends the weekend after our scan to start spreading our news. Is it weird that I am excited to start getting bigger and have a bump to show!?

OP posts:
LillyLeaf · 29/12/2019 12:27

I had my 10wk scan today, everything looked good, we saw it jumping about and waving, it's crazy how much they grow between scans (my last one was 8+4). Such a relief. It put my 2 days ahead but I think I'll stick to my dates until the 12wk scans confirms.

@Missdrifter great news about your scan.

Missdrifter · 29/12/2019 12:40

Yay congratulations @LillyLeaf that’s brilliant news. Mine also put me ahead by 2 days but my previous one put me 2 days behind so I think I am now at the original dates. When is your NHS one? I am thinking about booking a gender scan at 16 weeks because 12 - 20 weeks is such a long time to wait x

amysara24 · 29/12/2019 12:59

@missdrifter I’m glad your scan went well! I’ve told my parents, and we are seeing the in laws tomorrow and plan to tell them then (as we won’t see them again for a few months). Speaking of mother care I was so so bad and have bought a pram 🤦🏽‍♀️ It was down from £995 to £404 and I couldn’t resist such a good deal. I’m not overly superstitious anyway 😂 we’ve had a snuzpod upstairs since last summer! My next scan is 13/1 so only a week after I go back to work - hopefully it will fly by.
I think we are going to have all the screening tests (well the non-invasive ones anyway) but still undecided on whether to have a gender scan or not!
How are all the symptoms going? I had a few days of nothing and now I’m back to feeling queasy most of the day!
My dates have changed with every scan (I’ve had 3!) but the fertility clinic one put me ahead, which would make me 10+5 today, though I’m going to wait until January to see what they think then!

Missdrifter · 29/12/2019 13:08

@amysara24 that deal on the pram is really good. What one did you go for?i do want to invest in a good pram, I might try and find out what date mother care is actually closing for good and then try and make a visit after 12 week scan on the 10th.
Symptom wise I have been feeling quite sick since week 9 (which seems really late for it to start) but I also have a cold and headache so that could be contributing to the sicky feeling. Also struggling to sleep at night even though I feel so tired. Our dates are the same atm and hopefully we should be absolutely fine now 🙏🏼

amysara24 · 29/12/2019 13:29

@missdrifter it was a silver cross bundle, with the carrycot as well as the upright seat and all the extras so we were quite pleased. We were back in today actually for bras 😂 I wonder when they’re actually shutting as they have amazing deals on feeding stuff but I still feel it’s a bit early to be buying pumps or bottles haha.
Yeah having a cold probably isn’t helping! I’m the opposite with sleep, I’m sleeping the clock round! I do feel a bit less stressed now than a few weeks ago, hopefully with having had early scans we’re slowly creeping out of the anxiety ridden first trimester! I’m slowly starting to enjoy it more, hopefully after our 12 week scans we can get excited!
