Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

Good morning mamas!

Good luck to those of us getting a scan today. Looking forward to hearing how everyone gets on. Anyone else telling family over Christmas and feeling excited? Any fun ways of revealing? :)

@lillyleaf sorry to hear about your past challenges. Keeping everything crossed for you that it's 3rd time lucky for you. And great advice and outlook @hermionelodge

ninemonthwait · 23/12/2019 09:24

@littlemrsMama all going well at the scan tonight we will be telling family at Christmas. We have got some wooden signs that say The best Mums/Dads are promoted to Grandmas/Grandads for them to open together followed by a picture frame with baby scan and picture of our dog in Promoted to Big Brother bandana and a sign with X weeks until we become grandparents. I am excited to share our little secret now but also nervous as will only be 10 weeks and terrified something can still go wrong. It is excessive haha but their first grandchild so they will be over the moon!

Sorry to hear about the stresses that some of you are facing. Still no symptoms for me so terrified of MMC but hopefully I have just been lucky. I thought as soon as I got my positive test I would just be full of joy but the anxiety it won't result in a healthy baby just won't go away!!

@ninemonthwait that sounds so cute! I bet they'll absolutely love it! We're doing something very similar with our parents. I'm also 10 weeks and completely understand what you mean about it feeling a bit early and worrying. I think with the traditional '12 week rule' some of that is because people usually don't see a scan until 12 weeks and it's much more risky before seeing a baby and heartbeat. I also feel that if anything happened now I'd want the support of family and would tell them anyway. Good luck for your even tonight!

Southy84 · 23/12/2019 10:40

Exciting for all of the scans, we’re holding off telling everyone until the 12 week scan which isn’t until 20th jan Which seems forever away!

Not sure how people feel about buying things early but just been seen our local mothercare has an additional 20% off today, so for example Chico next to me crib is reduced to £71, never seen it that cheap

LillyLeaf · 23/12/2019 18:51

We'll probably hold out telling family until after 16 weeks (might have a private scan then). We don't live near family so can hide it well and plan to visit around mid February. I won't tell work for as long as I can get away with it, I hate being centre of attention and don't want all the questions.

I won't be buying anything for a long time but I will be tempting with all the January sales, especially those expenses items.

LittleMrsMama · 23/12/2019 20:00

@southy84 - good luck for your 12 week scan in Jan! I had mine today and it went well. Saw the little baby move around and heart beating which was so lovely.

@lillyleaf - it sounds like we're in similar situations with family! Sadly mine's the opposite with overseas close family over for Christmas and probably won't see them again until the baby's here so having to tell them a week and a half earlier than the normal 12 week recommendation. Glad you'll be able to keep your surprise under wraps until you see your family in Feb :)

Kiki275 · 23/12/2019 20:20

Please don't feel like you can't tell any friends or family until the 12 week scan. If in the worst case scenario you had bad news at the scan, who would you turn to for support? It's these people who we have told already and they all understand how early days it is. It's these same people who will help me hide it from great aunt Dorothy and Co. who I'd prefer to wait to tell x

mumof1babe · 23/12/2019 20:24

@Hermionelodge I'm so glad things seem to be getting better for you. Having any bleeding is so unnerving but seeing a heartbeat is definitely a bonus.

Just back from my scan from my dates of earlier scan I should have been 9+5 but baby is measuring at 10+1. Waving its little arms around and sonographer said all looks great so far. Seeing the heart flickering away was so amazing, hopefully that's my nerves calmed until my 12 week scan in January! Hope everyone else's scans have gone well today 💗

ninemonthwait · 23/12/2019 22:01

@mumof1babe same with me, I was measuring 10+3 when only expecting to be 9+4 and saw the little baba kicking its legs and got a great picture to show people on Xmas day, heard the heart too which was incredible!

@ninemonthwait that's amazing! So exciting seeing baby and how formed they are now! Will be amazing announcing it to your family in Christmas!

hermionelodge · 26/12/2019 19:04

Congratulations on all the recent scans! Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I quite enjoyed my first sober one, didn't miss the drink at all. It was the lack of cheeses I struggled with haha! I'm also now starting to get headaches, every evening around 5pm the headache starts. I'm reluctant to take paracetamol but been having to as it's just not shifting! Other than that I still don't have too bad symptoms so not sure I should really complain.

LucyLucyT · 26/12/2019 19:42

@hermionelodge glad you've had a nice Christmas. Hope everyone else is having fun. I felt quite well yesterday but think the hefty meal in the evening has made my nausea worse again today! Super super tired today as well. 12 weeks on Monday, so hoping in the next few weeks my symptoms will start to subside. Thankfully I've not had any bleeding other than a tiny bit of spotting since last Friday, hope it stays that way!
I have totally gone off even the fake alcohol at the moment, but still having some cheese, but luckily I don't like brie or the other potentially dodgy ones!

LillyLeaf · 26/12/2019 19:56

Hope you all had a nice Christmas. I had a really lazy quiet one, just what I needed. I'm 9+4 today and have lower back ache tonight, I think it might be digestion related as I've eaten a fair bit today and are a bit grassy. Anyone had lower back ache?

hermionelodge · 26/12/2019 20:30

@LucyLucyT that's good you managed to enjoy your day and meal. Not so good about today though. The spotting really is so worrying! Fingers crossed there's no more for you. I can't wait to reach the 12 week milestone. Typically brie and blue are my favourites!

@LillyLeaf I've had bad lower back pain. It worried me a bit but everything I've read says it's normal to happen in first trimester. Usually by the end of the day it's quite achey. Or if I've been doing too much housework it can get quite sore

Southy84 · 26/12/2019 20:38

Happy Christmas everyone, I’ve totally over indulged and have had stomach cramps all day and lower back ache too LillyLeaf, I always suffer with back ache at around this stage but think I’m also suffering with gas/constipation, it’s awful! 9+2 here.

Nausea is still awful too, and I literally can’t stop drinking water, I constantly feel like I’ve been camping out in the desert, have the driest mouth/throat, and this happens every night from about 6pm it’s driving me mad, I can’t stomach anything other than water and just can’t stop drinking it! anyone else ridiculously thirsty? I’ve not experienced this before.

squirrelnutkins1 · 26/12/2019 20:41

I get really thirsty at night time and during the night when I can't sleep 😩😩😩 I've had soooo much bloating and trapped wind it's sooo painful. 9+3 here xx

Southy84 · 26/12/2019 20:57

I’m so glad it’s not just me with the thirst, it’s been absolutely awful! It wakes me up too! Almost like waking up after a really crazy night out 😳 but this is without any alcohol 😬

LucyLucyT · 26/12/2019 21:49

Yep evening/night/early morning thirst is bad at the moment for me as well! My mouth often feels horrible, I'm brushing them a couple of times overnight when I get up for the loo!

Southy84 · 26/12/2019 22:07

I can only describe my mouth as feeling like leather 😟 it’s nasty isn’t it?!

LillyLeaf · 26/12/2019 22:24

I had the dry mouth mostly last week, I couldn't drink enough water, then had a few days of only wanting orange juice now I don't want anything to drink anything which maybe is also adding to my backache. I miss wanting a cup of tea (decaf of course) but it tastes awful now, every drink tastes awful.

squirrelnutkins1 · 26/12/2019 22:41

I'm managing plain water even tho I don't normally like it!
This pregnancy lark is not at all glam is it 🤣

LucyLucyT · 26/12/2019 23:23

@LillyLeaf funnily enough I have been going through an orange juice phase, couldn't get enough of the stuff last week! I used to love hot chocolate and have not been able to even think about drinking it for the last couple of months, weird hehe.

Southy84 · 27/12/2019 06:35

I’ve had orange juice cravings too a few times, but has to be juice, I can’t stomach squash at all!

Hope your back is feeling a bit better today @LillyLeaf I woke up on mine and struggled to move.

I’m going to try to have a healthy day with food today!

ninemonthwait · 27/12/2019 08:23

My diet has been so bad! So many carbs and just beige food with a lot of cakes and chocolate thrown in because so much of it has been around due to Christmas! I am feeling guilty that the poor baby is getting nothing nutritious from me!

LillyLeaf · 27/12/2019 09:09

My back feels better today. I think I need to drink lots of water today and try to eat some protein (I don't eat meat, but do eat fish) but all I want is roast potatoes.

@LucyLucyT I've tried a few hot chocolates but they taste so sweet. I miss having a hot drink.

I've booked another scan for Sunday, I know I should hold out but the IVF/MC anxiety is too much. I just need to know what's going on in there.
