Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@amysara24 that is early but will still be nice for you :-)
I'm still getting nausea most of the day, only relieved for a while by eating!
My 12 week scan is on New year's Eve, I'll be 12+1 then, hoping all the screening will be okay as I'm 36 so know the risks are higher.

Ethellsmum · 20/12/2019 10:12

@LucyLucyT I know what u mean about the screening. I’m 38 and my last pregnancy came back as being high risk after the combined test. I’m 7 years older now so freaking out even more.

Missdrifter · 20/12/2019 10:29

Good luck for your scan @amysara24!

@ninemonthwait I still don’t really have any symptoms either, I had a tiny spot of blood in my underwear the other day so phoned them doctor and they just said not to worry. I have my midwife appointment Monday so hopefully she can reassure me. But I feel exactly the same as you.

@LucyLucyT I am 34 and also concerned about the screening. Hopefully we will all be ok.

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/12/2019 16:00

Scan was fine measuring 8+4, so three days ahead. So pleased ❤️

ninemonthwait · 20/12/2019 17:07

@squirrelnutkins1 that is fab news x

Congratulations @squirrelnutkins1 that’s great news, you must be thrilled x

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/12/2019 18:18

Thanks ladies. Def a relief! Xx

Kiki275 · 20/12/2019 18:41

@Ethellsmum maybe consider going for the harmony/NIPT testing for full screening, then at least you can get a more precise probability?x

Ethellsmum · 20/12/2019 18:44

@Kiki275 I have thought about the NIPT but we can’t afford £350/400, especially following Xmas. If I come back high risk this time I’ve already decided I would have CVS/amino.

Ethellsmum · 20/12/2019 18:47

I am in such a bad mood today. Pregnancy hormones are full on raging today. I’m taking myself off to bed as soon as the kids go.

Kiki275 · 20/12/2019 19:19

@Ethellsmum I know the feeling. I spend most of my driving time having imaginary arguments that I'd love to have 😂 x

hermionelodge · 21/12/2019 09:32

@squirrelnutkins1 fab news on your scan! Must be such a relief.

I'm back to full on panic mode again. I woke up at 2am yesterday with really bad crampa9, they lasted all day on and off until about midnight. Some were so painful I was doubled over. Then there was a bit of pink on the tissue after wiping last night but nothing again since. Boobs don't hurt today and just feel different. It's so frustrating after being so relieved seeing the heartbeat on Tuesday. I feel like I can't take anything positive from yesterday. Just waiting for bleeding to start.

mywrencalls · 21/12/2019 12:36

Fab to hear about everyone's scans Smile

@hermionelodge Thinking of you, how are you doing now?

My nausea seems to have abruptly stopped and boobs are not as sore. I still have food aversions and struggling with liquid but overall feeling a thousand times better than a few days ago so it's a little concerning.

I'm trying to not stress about it, but can't see why my nausea would end at 8 weeks. I guess what will be will be.

Hope everyone is doing well xxx

amysara24 · 21/12/2019 14:19

Thanks everyone for your well wishes yesterday. Went to the hospital and the Sonographer was so abrupt. She basically said it was too early to see what she needed to and I have to go back 13th January. I felt like I caused her so much inconvenience, even though I had asked the midwife when she gave me the appointment because I thought it was too early! Got to see the bean again though and heartbeat was still going strong so I suppose that’s something..
How is everyone today? I’ve just had to brave the supermarkets for the Christmas food shop, and think I need a nap now!

Ethellsmum · 21/12/2019 17:08

I ordered a few maternity bits in the next sale last night and I’ve got a couple of dresses from boohoo. My work clothes are so snug - there’s no way they will fit after I’ve over indulged at Xmas too.

LucyLucyT · 21/12/2019 18:31

@amysara24 that's such a shame the sonographer was like that with you, hardly your fault! At least you know you'll get to go back again. Glad you got to see your little one though.

@hermionelodge try not to panic, it is likely to still be okay. I know how worrying it is when you get unexplained symptoms though. Sorry for the personal question but are you going to toilet okay? I get trapped wind on and off and that can be really painful!
See how you go but ring you early pregnancy unit and talk to them to see what they suggest. Hope things have been better today x

Kiki275 · 21/12/2019 18:59

Hi everyone, I've been in a foul mood today. Got my scan date through which is the 8th but think I'll need to rearrange it. Don't want to tell work yet, so will need to take annual leave. It's at 10.50, which means taking the whole day off, which I really don't want to do if I can get one which means only taking half x

hermionelodge · 21/12/2019 19:11

Thanks @mywrencalls and @LucyLucyT. I haven't had any more strong cramps, just mild cramping and back pain. There has been no more pink and no blood. Just don't know what to make of it. It's so frustrating as I can't get excited and enjoy this time. It's all just doom and gloom and I really don't want to be like that!

I did wonder if it could be trapped wind but I was very windy the night before and I went to the toilet last night but the pains continued after for about 2 hours. Sometimes the cramps were right across the middle of my stomach though so I just don't know. I feel bad ringing epu as this would be my 3rd time and sometimes I just think I need to let whatever happen, happen. If there is blood I will call though just for there advice.

@amysara24 sorry you had such a bad experience with the sonographer today. You would think they would have a bit more empathy! Good you got to see your healthy bean again though!

LucyLucyT · 21/12/2019 23:52

@Kiki275 I'm sure they will try to help you change it, give them a buzz on Monday, hope you get it sorted :-)

@hermionelodge glad the symptoms have settled again. I'm also finding it hard to get excited about it all, feel like I'm holding back. Just as I started to relax about it I started bleeding and although I'm just spotting occasionally now I don't seem to be able to fully embrace it. I'm hoping the spotting will stop soon so that I can enjoy the 12 scan a bit more (even with the screening stuff!) I'm sure we'll both be okay!

amysara24 · 22/12/2019 08:39

@Kiki275 hopefully they’ll be able to change it for you! I’m just planning to be as vague as possible with work and not tell them what dept the appointment is with.
@hermionelodge I’m glad things are settling down a bit. Have you downloaded the Pregnancy+ app? If not, I definitely recommend it. A few days ago the daily update was all about bleeding or spotting in pregnancy and why it might happen, and how it’s totally normal! It’s good for putting minds to rest over little things like that.
I’ve had horrible cramps but I have IBS and have come to know they’re telling me I need to pass wind or go to the loo 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’ve been struggling with the loo part and it’s caused me to spot a little (sorry if this is tmi) from behind from straining.. the midwife said it’s unfortunately common but completely normal.. as unpleasant as it is!

hermionelodge · 22/12/2019 11:08

@LucyLucyT it's frustrating isn't it. Every time i relax a bit or start to get a bit excited something bad seems to happen! We were going to tell our parents this week but I've decided against it. Not sure how I will get away with not drinking Xmas day as we are hosting but will just have to wing it and hope no one notices. Fingers crossed all is going well for us. So glad for this thread to share support and read everyone's experiences.

@amysara24 I don't have that one but will get it downloaded, thanks. I will have a read through it. Oh I've actually had that! I got such fear when it first happened! I'm definitely not going to the toilet every day so that maybe is an issue. Perhaps need to try and up my daily fibre and see if that helps. There's so many things that you have no idea about as no one speaks about it so until you are going through it and the looking more into it, you'd never know! Certainly none of my friends have ever spoken about the cramps, spotting, discharge, constipation, discharge, anxiety... the list goes on haha! Im going to be sure to tell anyone close who is thinking of trying for the first time that this is all normal! Maybe help put some minds at ease throughout their journey!

LillyLeaf · 22/12/2019 11:58

Mind if I join? This is my 3rd IVF pregnancy this year and this is the furthest I've got (previous MC in Feb and June). I'm 9 weeks today and I've had 4 scans already. I had a very scary bleed just before 6 weeks which was mostly brown but still freaked me out and I thought it was all over, turned out it was probably implantation bleeding. I've been so anxious but trying to take each day as it comes. I have my midwife appointment on Tuesday which is totally crazy as I had to cancel previous ones. My symptoms haven't been too bad. Insomnia probably being the worst. Nausea has increased the last few days but no where near being sick. I'm just focusing on the next step which will be a scan with NIPT test at 11 weeks, I can't think beyond that.

hermionelodge · 22/12/2019 12:09

Congratulations on your pregnancy @LillyLeaf. So sorry for your previous losses. It must be so difficult to remain calm this time. I'm am finding it tough and this is my first pregnancy so really feel for you. I also had some brown bleeding at 5 weeks and then a small bleed with fresh red blood, my midwife didn't seem too concerned either and I seen the baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks. I think that's the best way to look at it, one day at a time. And every day complete is a new victory. Wishing you all the best in this pregnancy

LillyLeaf · 22/12/2019 12:27

@hermionelodge I've been following the thread, sorry about your bleeding but great you've seen a heartbeat. I had no bleeding in my previous mcs, only discovered at scans so that was all new to me. I've thankfully had nothing since but it doesn't stop me dreading going to the toilet. I wish I could fast forward the next 11 weeks.

hermionelodge · 22/12/2019 12:39

Thanks @LillyLeaf. Hopefully this is definitely a positive sign that you've had the bleeding this time. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a mmc until I fell pregnant and started reading all the pregnancy boards and it has definitely increased my anxiety. I think that's why I'm so worried about the severe cramps I had on Friday as I know miscarriage doesnt always come with heavy bleeding and clots. I have another scan on Tuesday and I have promised myself and my dp that if all is fine I'm going to just try and calm down and be positive. I'm the same, always inspecting the tissue so closely as well and constantly wearing liners to inspect! I know, 11 weeks seems long but I hope it flies by for you and all is ok so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and feel excited
