Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

Can I join? I am around 8 weeks pregnant with baby number 3 who is due end of July..

I feel like crap and I'm shattered. So normal pregnancy so far!

Wishing you all well and I hope everyone isn't stressing too much about Christmas... We are hosting the entire family! Crown Smile

Southy84 · 18/12/2019 19:24

Hi :) how old are your other two children cheese please? I’m so nervous about having 3! The only thing I’m stressed about for Christmas is someone guessing I’m pregnant and putting me on the spot! I don’t feel ready to tell anyone yet, haven’t even had my booking appointment yet (it’s 2nd jan) and no date for scan yet either so wanted to wait until after that which I think will be mid jan

LucyLucyT · 18/12/2019 20:25

Thanks everyone, feeling a bit more relaxed now, hopefully I'll sleep more than an hour or two tonight!

CheesePleaseLoueese · 18/12/2019 21:05

Hi Southy84

My other two are 10 and 2. So quite an age spread! 10 yo will be brilliant but kind of worried about the other little one...

What about yours?

Christmas is a toughy. I'm afraid I'll be carrying around half a glass of bubbly all day to deflect unwanted attention....

Southy84 · 18/12/2019 21:32

Oh lovely I’m sure your ten year old will help out lots :) I have a 2 and a 3 year old eek, my first was 18 months when my second was born and she coped better than I thought, I think they often surprise us.

I like the idea of a half glass of bubbly too Crown Grin

Ethellsmum · 18/12/2019 21:47

I have my private scan tomorrow and I am so nervous. I’m terrified there won’t be a heartbeat. 1m can’t come quick enough

Southy84 · 18/12/2019 22:05

How many weeks are you @ethellsmum? I hope everything goes well x

LucyLucyT · 19/12/2019 07:22

Just a point on the bubbly at Christmas thing, I've come to really like Tesco's own low alcohol sparkling wine. It's 0.5% so I know some wouldn't want that but essentially there are some foods and juices that contain that amount of alcohol naturally. I find it tastes really nice and feels like you are having a special drink so to speak. At the moment I've gone off it all so just have my favourite Ribena all the time hehe.

Kiki275 · 19/12/2019 07:55

@Southy84 I was daft enough to do 1st trimester of Xmas last time too. My family drink steadily through the day too. The key is for either you or someone trusted to be the drinks distributor.
I 2nd the own brand sparkling wines, my preference is Sainsbury's. The still wines are all vile. I've tried many beers too and they're subject to preference in taste.
Have a bottle open somewhere random but out of sight where you can refill (plus a jug to empty any unwanted booze into).
I did everyone mulled wine, they didn't know mine was hot Vimto. Likewise, Buck's Fizz was just made with soda water.
Don't refuse if someone tops up your glass, say cheers, take a sip or two then pour it away at the earliest opportunity. Nothing arouses suspicion more than saying no or using excuses. I asked FIL at one point if he didn't mind finishing off my glass of white as I wanted red.
Accidentally picking up and "drinking" from DPs emptier wine glass is a good one, likewise ask him to drink from yours too so it will need refilling at some point.
Send DP to make the drinks, hopefully he'll realise that you asking for G&T means you just want T.
I absolutely adore Fentimans Rose Lemonade (which is fab with a gin in too) and drink gallons over Xmas as it feels grown up.x

Ethellsmum · 19/12/2019 10:07

@Southy84 9+6 - nearly at 10 weeks which is double figures 😀😀😀.

Southy84 · 19/12/2019 11:07

Lucylucy that’s a great idea on the 0.5%! Then you can have a glass and say you’re taking it easy as driver or host, I know a lot wouldn’t want to drink at all which I totally understand but that’s so low that it’s a compromise if you have suspicious family/friends [santa] think I will do what you suggest Kiki and be the drinks host Grin then I can control things (hopefully)

Oh exciting ethellsmum, not long until your scan now, let us know how you get on x

mumof1babe · 19/12/2019 17:56

Glad to hear everyone is doing well in means of progressing symptoms even if that does mean we are all being sick all day long or feeling sick!

@hermoinelodge I've been thinking about you, how are things?

Ethellsmum hope scan went well today!!

I know I shouldn't but I purchased an at home doppler, used one with my first and it was great. Used it for thr first time today and heard a unmistakable heartbeat its amazing. Made me feel a bit better about my scan on Monday at least knowing baby is still there

squirrelnutkins1 · 19/12/2019 18:28

@mumof1babe oh wow, that must've been amazing! I think if I had one I'd be obsessively using it all day every day 🤣

EPU scan tomorrow and funnily enough I've had no cramping today and barely any yesterday. I POAS stick this morning, couldn't help myself and got a 3+ which I'm pleased to see as I never got to see it last time 💔 I know it doesn't mean all will be well but it's given me a bit more hope.

Has anyone had bad headaches? A couple of times I'm come over feeling so so so sick and then a pounding head and I've had to go to bed. Fortunately I've not been at work either time or I'm not sure what I'd have done!

mumof1babe · 19/12/2019 18:42

It was amazing just had to do it again to let my husband hear it, wanted to make sure I could find it first before I tried to show him! Best sound in the world!

Good luck with your scan I'm sure all will be well, I have been feeling the same some days but seems to be worse when I don't drink enough fluid or if I've stayed up too late! All fun and games isn't it!!

vickivix1 · 19/12/2019 18:42

@squirrelnutkins I have had some headaches sometimes if I have fallen asleep for a short time
I know it sounds silly but wonder if vitamins make me feel sick?

Hope the scan went well @ethelsmum

Ooooooo a doppler I think I'd become obsessed but think you may have given me an idea 😜🙂

mumof1babe · 19/12/2019 18:44

@Vickivix1 I promised myself I wouldn't get obsessed but I don't know if I'll manage not too, I know a lot of people don't agree with them but I couldn't help myself!!

Ethellsmum · 19/12/2019 18:59

Scan went fine. Well once the company turned up to open up - they have two bases and had come from Doncaster but an accident on the M1 and crazy town centre meant they were nearly half hour late.
One strong heartbeat (178) seen and heard. Baby was waving their arms around - she said it’s a very active baby lol. I did measure 3 days less so 9+3 and Edd of 20/7/20. She noticed a small subchorionic haematoma but didn’t seem concerned.

Kiki275 · 19/12/2019 19:16

@vickivix1 just buy some Folic Acid single tablets and try them instead x

LittleMrsMama · 19/12/2019 19:51

@mumof1babe it's my first pregnancy and never heard of a Doppler before!! Would you recommend a particular brand? Do you know if it's harmful at all to the baby? I would love to be able to hear the little heartbeat at home!!!

mumof1babe · 19/12/2019 20:06

@LittleMrsMama I bought an anawiz one from Ebay but the sonoline B ones are exactly the same! Mines cost about £40 but totally worth it in my opinion. From what I've read they don't have evidence to say they are dangerous but do suggest to limit time to 5-10 mins every other day. The main problem people say is that sometimes people confuse sounds and think they hear the heartbeat when in fact its arteries/placenta. I watched lots of YouTube videos with my first pregnancy to understand what I was listening for and knew straight away when I heard babies heartbeat today. Obviously it won't identify if the pregnancy is totally healthy but it gives me great peace of mind to know that it's still there and heart beating away! The one I bought comes with batteries and gel so was ready to go as soon as it arrived x

mumof1babe · 19/12/2019 20:08

Also anyone else experiencing bad pain sometimes when sneezing etc, just sneezed and goodness me I don't remember it being that bad with my first!!

hermionelodge · 19/12/2019 20:39

@mumof1babe thanks so much for thinking of me. I had my scan on Tuesday and all was perfect. Measured 7 weeks exactly and seen the heartbeat. She didn't say the bpm though but she did say everything was exactly as she would expect for 7 weeks. Felt so relieved for about a day haha. I'm now having a slightly off white discharge, it's nothing like the brown spotting i was having before but it's there on the pad throughout the day and noticeable. (Sorry for tmi) It's just so stressful as I just don't know what's normal. I'm also having pains low down if I cough or sneeze or get up too quick! And also very windy today...! Pregnancy is full of glamour isn't it haha! Must be amazing hearing your babies heartbeat. Just such a nice reassurance!

@LucyLucyT and @Ethellsmum so glad to see your scans went well.

I have one booked again for Xmas eve as that was booked before I was referred to epu, I think I'm going to cancel it and just wait now until my 12 week scan which is 21st Jan. I can feel my anxiety making me obsessive and if I have the scan on Xmas eve I know I will want another in the new year before the 12 weeks so I just need to refrain.

LucyLucyT · 20/12/2019 07:53

Loving all the drinking tips for Christmas. My family all know as I'm not very good at keeping my mouth shut, but it's also because we had IVF so they knew from the start of our journey. In a way it's been easier for me because they understand why I might not be acting as normal!

@mumof1babe I get pains with sneezing but I have slightly enlarged ovaries still from my treatment so put it down to that and it's gradually improving as they get smaller. It could just be because all your muscles etc are adjusting for the pregnancy though?

I had my appointment at EPU yesterday, scan was good as we had expected from the private one we had on Wednesday. She couldn't see any reason for the bleeding so they just said for me to call back if it becomes heavy. I haven't had any proper bleeding for 24 hours now, just brown spotting. Won't be surprised if I get more but it would be lovely not to!

amysara24 · 20/12/2019 08:05

Morning ladies! Just catching up with everyone. I’m glad everyone’s scans have been reassuring after a few wee worries!
The drinking tips are great - I have my work Christmas party tonight so will be needing them! I’ve also got my “12 week” scan today, at 9+3.. frustrating as I don’t think we will see a lot, but I’ll still be glad to see the bean again today!
How is everyone keeping? I think my nausea is starting to lift a bit which is nice!

ninemonthwait · 20/12/2019 08:20

@amysara24 glad you are starting to feel better. Still no symptoms for me so making me anxious that I imagined the whole thing even though I have a photo of the tiny little bean and seen its heartbeat. Have another scan on Monday evening so hoping growth is all OK and got my 12 week scan on 10th Jan. Will be glad to reach that milestone!

Hope everyone is OK and can relax over the Christmas Period x
