Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@kiki275 I have a pair of those and will be getting some the next size up for over Christmas.

Have most of us on here opted for early scans? Just wondering if anyone has decided to wait for the nhs one? I am in two minds about booking my second private one or riding it out until 10th January.

Kiki275 · 14/12/2019 16:28

@Missdrifter I've not had a private one at all, will just stick to the nhs ones. Bricking it a bit now because DH is a twin, so getting that same minor panic like I did with DS x

Missdrifter · 14/12/2019 16:35

@Kiki275 I really want to try and wait until the NHS one but my anxiety is through the roof. When is your dating scan booked for? Ohh twins, that would make it interesting haha x

mywrencalls · 14/12/2019 17:10

@Missdrifter I'm not getting a private scan either, just going to wait until the NHS one.

I too am nervous about twins, my first pregnancy was fraternal twins, but only one survived. He's now 20.

Have had two previous pregnancies that were also twins, but sadly miscarried both sets (had an undiagnosed health condition that wasn't treated until a few years ago)

So now I'm anxious about it being twins again, although my sickness now is nowhere near as bad as it was with those pregnancies so I'm thinking it's a singleton pregnancy this time.

LittleMrsMama · 14/12/2019 21:32

Thank you so much @kiki275 - I just ordered them! Also bought some treggings that had really good ratings too. Will let you know what they're like when they arrive.

@missdrifter I had an early scan at 6 1/2 weeks and going to have another next week. It's my first pregnancy though and anxiety is through the roof so found that the scans have really calmed me down. I also have a long wait until my NHS scan because they have a backlog over Christmas and we want to tell family on Christmas Day. It'll be fairly obvious anyway as I'm throwing up regularly and won't be drinking :p I would definitely recommend an early scan if you feel it will bring you some comfort either way, I got a deal on Groupon for £40.
Well done to the mamas to be that are going to wait until the NHS scan - you have much more patience than me!

Kiki275 · 15/12/2019 15:08

@mywrencalls Wow! You've really been put through it. Wishing you the best of luck, be it a single or double joy x

Kiki275 · 15/12/2019 15:08

@Missdrifter it's not yet 😂. Got my booking in appointment tomorrow so should hopefully get it then x

squirrelnutkins1 · 15/12/2019 21:11

I know it's probably been asked further up but can't face all the scrolling!!! Ive got my booking appt on Tue. What can I expect other than a tonne of questions? Do they do any exams? Just wondering if I need to prep my downstairs 🤣🙈 xx

LittleMrsMama · 15/12/2019 22:01

@mywrencalls sorry to hear you've had such a tough time! Keeping everything crossed for you

@squirrelnutkins1 for my appointment I had to answer loads of questions including any history of drugs, alcohol consumption, family medical history etc. I also had to bring a urine sample which has been sent off for testing and got weighed and my height taken for BMI and a load of blood samples sent off for testing.

Apparently if any of the tests come back with cause for concern (e.g. vitamin deficiency or gestational diabetes) then I'll get a letter in the post within about 2 weeks. It's already been a week and no letter so hoping no news is good news

Vickiduduu · 16/12/2019 10:24

Thanks for the info @littlemrsmama. I also have my booking in appointment today, @squirrelnutkins1 ill let you know exactly what happens so you'll be prepared for tomorrow. @missdrifter, I also am waiting for the NHS scan at 12 weeks, hopefully I'll get an appointment date through soon. How's everyone's symptoms this week? I'm finding that nausea is getting a little worse and bloating but not really feeling anything else.

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 12:26

@LittleMrsMama @Vickiduduu thanks ladies. The unknown is scary so like to be prepared! I'm finding my symptoms come and go. When they are there they are bad and I feel awful. The most consistent thing is feeling sick at various times throughout the day and my nipples being so sore! DH commented yesterday that they look different 🤣

LittleMrsMama · 16/12/2019 12:35

@vickiduduu good luck today! Let us know how you get on :)

I'm starting to feel slightly better. I think it's a combination of knowing how to manage my nausea and sickness and being excited to tell family next week. I think I'll feel much better when I don't have to hide it.

@squirrelnutkins1 it's always good to be prepared! They didn't do anything 'down there' at my appointment just in case you were thinking of tidying up :)

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 12:41

@LittleMrsMama oh good! It all seems a lot of effort lately. I shaved my legs for the first time in ages the other day, didn't realise how long they'd got but I've just not felt like all that self care business 🤣🙊

LittleMrsMama · 16/12/2019 13:26

@squirrelnutkins1 - glad it's not just me! Whilst I was on my way to the appointment I did suddenly think there might have been an internal examination but was so relieved there wasn't. I imagine the midwives see all sorts. How're you feeling about tomorrow? Just a heads up they asked me to bring a urine sample no more than 2 days old. They were pleased I actually read the letter and said loads of people don't realise. Just in case your letter says to bring one. I bought some special bottles off amazon (assume you can pick up for free from a GP), but the midwife said she's received jam jars and all sorts! Haha

Missdrifter · 16/12/2019 16:53

Hi ladies. All very exciting having booking appointments. Mine is a week today and really looking forward to it. I am so worried that I haven’t really had any morning sickness or even felt sick, I still feel pretty normal and I am anxious that it’s a bad sign. @ninemonthwait how are you feeling now?

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 16:57

Oh, I never got a letter it was all just arranged over the phone. The midwife phoned me today to change my appointment time and didn't mention anything. Hmmmm.
I just have a sinking feeling that it's all going to go wrong. I've been feeling all day like I'm about to get AF. I'm trying not to be too negative as there's nothing I can do about it.
I've got a headache now, probably stress! @littlemrsmama

Kiki275 · 16/12/2019 17:01

@LittleMrsMama I took a clean empty jar full today. It smelt slightly of chipotle paste but should make for some interesting results 😂 x
Those sample bottles are a pain to get hold of, last time I think I needed 3 in one week and I would only be given one or two at a time. Ideally take one with you to every appointment and your 1st scan etc x

ninemonthwait · 16/12/2019 17:30

@Missdrifter I understand the anxiety... Still no real symptoms for me, my boobs aren't even really sore. I get the occasion feeling of sickness but it just feels like I have a bit of a hangover and dissappears as soon as I have eaten something. We should take it as a blessing that we aren't throwing up every second but hard not to worry something isn't right! I have my booking appointment tomorrow afternoon then a private scan on 23rd so I will hopefully get the reassurance I need ready to tell family over Christmas!

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 17:35

@ninemonthwait ooh exactly the same as you - booking appt tomorrow and private scan 23rd! How far along do you think you are? I think I'm 7+4.

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 17:38

Ah sorry just scrolled back. You'll be 9+4 for your scan. How are you feeling about telling family at Xmas?
I'll hopefully be 8+4 on my scan day. Think I may tell two close friends who've really been there for me thru my mc and infertility appointments etc but will wait til 12 week scan for everyone else me thinks. Or longer, who knows 🙈 I quite like having a little secret just between the two of us 😊

Vickiduduu · 16/12/2019 17:51

@littlemrsmama, today was all good. No examinations or anything, our health authority provide a sample bottle and ask you take a sample on the day that you go for your booking blood tests, seems like a good system. Booking in appointment was pretty simple, just a paperwork exercise to provide health history and family history. Some odd questions that I thought were a little irrelevant like 'do you own or rent your house?' they take a carbon monoxide reading to check for smoking or people living with malfunctioning gas appliances, give you loads of info so take a notepad if your memory isn't great.

Missdrifter · 16/12/2019 17:59

@ninemonthwait pleased I am not the only one. I did get some sharp pains last week in my lower left pelvic area and not sure if I should have called the doctor or not? I had just eaten a massive meal and my jeans were digging in so I thought it was trapped wind (sorry tmi) but now I am worrying about that too. The scan on the 23rd will be reassuring, I tried to get one but they were all booked up before Christmas now, so I booked a private one for the 28th.

Is anyone else having their booking appointment at home?

mywrencalls · 16/12/2019 19:48

@Missdrifter I didn't even know you could have your booking in appointment at home, I like that idea!

I'm getting anxious that my booking in isn't until New Year's Eve, I'll be 10 weeks and worried my scan appointment will take ages to come through. Given that I'm 37, I want the nuchal scan at the optimum time.

My nausea is improving, providing I eat a meal at 12pm and 5pm. Can't bear any snacks though and definitely not drinking enough. I just seem to have this overwhelming feeling to do absolutely nothing. My poor house!

Good luck everyone with your upcoming scans!

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/12/2019 20:54

@vickiduduu glad today went well 😊 thanks for the update. I'm feeling more prepared as to what to expect x
