Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@squirrelnutkins1 looking forward to sharing the news with family, it still can't sink in for DH and I that it is happening at the minute so sharing the news might make it feel more real!

Hi vickivix1, our due dates are very close, I'm 7w4days. welcome to the group. You must be an expert in this with 2 previous pregnancies. Did you have nausea with your first two also?

vickivix1 · 16/12/2019 22:31

Haha wouldn't say I'm an expert at all, yep I was nausea's last pregnancy but just feels constant this time, ahh is this your first vicki? X

mywrencalls · 16/12/2019 23:28

@vickivix1 I'm 7+5 so our due dates are close. My first child is 20 yrs old Shock so this will be my second. Feeling like a first time mum all over again haha

vickivix1 · 17/12/2019 07:08

I completely felt like this with my second as there is a 17 year gap, even when she arrived it all felt new, but it was actually really nice to do it again more grown up and mature lol, I think that is why in having ny third now so they can grow up together xxx

Vickiduduu · 17/12/2019 07:16

@vickivix1, yes this is my first, fairly old for my first baby at 32 so all new and I think you worry more the older you get.

Kiki275 · 17/12/2019 09:09

Anyone else crippled by insomnia?x

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/12/2019 09:26

@kiki275 I was for the first few weeks, well I could get to sleep fine but I'd be awake for hours and hours in the night. It went away thankfully!!!

vickivix1 · 17/12/2019 09:43

I think I am the opposite kiki feel like I sleep all the time when I'm not working lol xx

vickivix1 · 17/12/2019 09:45

@vickiduduu I wouldn't say your old for your first hun xx
I know exactly what you mean about worrying though even me I feel at times i need constant reassurance so your not alone xx

Kiki275 · 17/12/2019 15:09

@squirrelnutkins1 I hope this disappears sharply too, it's bad enough having a toddler wake me up at random times as it is 😩 x

EnglishRain · 17/12/2019 15:32

Hope the insomnia settles, it's rare I ever suffer with that but it's absolutely horrid isn't it.

My back is really sore at the moment. Bit worried about that having started playing up already! I herniated a couple of discs in my back 10+ years ago in a riding accident and it's not been right since. I need to stop being lazy and do more yoga/go for longer dog walks...

I'm all over the place at the minute. Didn't think hormones were impacting me at all but yesterday and today, gosh! Poor DH is all I can say. I'm very weepy and miserable because I have had this awful cold over a week now and am still struggling with morning sickness and other early pregnancy ailments. Feel like I should be constantly happy but I'm still so worried about it all going wrong. Have definitely hit a low point.

How far is everyone now? I'm 9 weeks today.

Also, what do you all do for work? I'm nosey and would love to know more about you all. I am a chartered accountant, and work in an NHS hospital.

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/12/2019 15:38

Booking appt went well. I was there nearly an hour and a half! She was a chatterbox and kept going off on tangents but it actually made me feel relaxed! I felt emotional at the start talking a bit about our journey getting preg and my mc.

In our area they phone the scanning dept there and then so got my 12 week scan on 16th Jan!

I said I've had loads of cramping so she's got me a scan for this Fri at EPU. She didn't really seemed at all concerned but phoned them anyway! She said they don't see you unless you've had spotting, which I haven't, but she told them I had, a white lie she called itBlush I don't feel that comfortable about that but not sure what I can do about it.

They took a wee sample and filled 3 viles of blood. She didn't ask as many questions as I thought she would.

All in all it was good and it's starting to feel a bit more real now!

LittleMrsMama · 17/12/2019 18:05

@englishrain - congratulations on being 9 weeks today, me too! :) I'm also really struggling but apparently this week is the worst and then it starts to improve as the placenta takes over. Fingers crossed that's true! I can't bear it anymore, but then I feel guilty thinking of all the people who would love to conceive and are trying for years. I hope your insomnia settles and back is feeling a bit better soon.

@squirrelnutkins1 - glad to hear your first appointment was a success and the midwife made you feel at ease. It's great she took your concerns seriously and got you a scan even if there was a little white lie (I honestly wouldn't feel bad about it). Hope the scan goes well!

@Vickiduduu I agree with vickivix1 - it's about average these days as people are meeting later and women are having careers/going travelling etc before wanting to settle down :) I've known pregnant ladies in their late 40's

ttocs · 17/12/2019 18:48

Yes I am due the 27th of July. Hoping this little ones stays and all goes well. Thinking of doing NCT classes but not sure due to the cost. What is everyone else doing?

This is my second bub Smile

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/12/2019 19:45

@littlemrsmama thank you. Here's hoping I've got a healthy sticky bean 🙏🏻

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/12/2019 19:46

I too thought 33 would be classed as old but the midwife said 35 used to be 'old' but now it's 40 and she's even looked after a lady in her 50s!!! Feel young in comparison 🤣

LucyLucyT · 17/12/2019 19:48

Having a bit of a freak out. Went to the loo about an hour ago and had some pink/reddy/brown discharge. It wasn't bright red so hoping it's okay. Rang the EPU and they have booked me in for Thursday morning. Don't know how I'm going to stay calm until then. Feel a bit achy but think maybe it's psychosomatic. Hope the bleeding doesn't progress but can't help but worry about the worst.

LittleMrsMama · 17/12/2019 20:03

@lucylucyT how far along are you? Try not to worry (I know easier said than done!), as you say it's not bright red so probably some old blood mixed in with discharge. I had some spotting around 5 weeks and apparently it's to do with implantation. Either way you'll find out on Thursday and know it's a long wait for you. Hopefully it's a one off!

LucyLucyT · 17/12/2019 20:10

@LittleMrsMama thanks, I'm 10+1. Had IVF so had a scan 2 weeks ago which showed a good heartbeat and everything was normal then so trying to hold onto that. Like you say it's the horrible wait until the scan more and worrying if the bleeding will progress.

Kiki275 · 17/12/2019 20:58

@ttocs I did both the NCT & NHS classes with my first. They both have their advantages. NCT is great for the social side, many mums stay in contact and offer each other great support during the first year. I personally found the NHS more informative about your childbirth options. Two lots of classes might seem overkill to some but DH & I both felt a lot more clued up for doing them x

LittleMrsMama · 17/12/2019 21:34

@LucyLucyT That's great you've already had a scan and seen a heartbeat. Usually if something will go wrong it would have by now, or a bit later for people who haven't had any scans yet and haven't seen a heartbeat (not to get your hopes up but good to stay positive). The wait will be tough but we're all here for you

LucyLucyT · 17/12/2019 21:36

Bleeding gone bright red now, waiting for the EPU to ring back but don't think they'll be able to do anything sooner. I think this is it and it's over :-(

Kiki275 · 17/12/2019 21:43

@LittleMrsMama if you can do both, then it's worth it. The nhs classes are free and I found them better for knowing your drug choices & intervention techniques such as Von Teuse and C-Section. We got to handle the forceps and see an epidural tube etc which is great for making informed choices prior to the delivery chaos. NCT were better for aftercare if the baby and breastfeeding etc.x

@LucyLucyT keeping my fingers crossed that everything is okay. Hopefully something like a fibroid etc.x

Missdrifter · 17/12/2019 22:02

@LucyLucyT so sorry you are going through this and I am keeping all my fingers crossed it’s nothing sinister. Are you experiencing any cramps?
