Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@ninemonthwait I took DH, meant he was able to answer questions about his side of the family that I would never have known!
@mumof1babe I hope so anyway, would definitely be useful!

LittleMrsMama · 08/12/2019 22:11

@englishrain I've been vomiting since 4 1/2 weeks which is supposedly very early. I've started taking tablets in the middle of a meal as found they stay down a bit better. I've also found some tablets make me be sick straight away (like iron) so have avoided completely.

@ninemonthwait DH will be coming to all my appointments where possible. I think it's nice for him to be part of this as it's all happening to us and our bodies sometimes it's easy to forget that DH needs something to hold on to as well and also to check in and see if he's doing okay

Missdrifter · 09/12/2019 07:38

Morning. I don’t think my partner can make my booking appointment but he will come to all the scans etc. Is anyone else having their booking appointment at home?

Just wondering what your thoughts on colouring hair in the first trimester? My roots are in desperate need but I have read conflicting information about it.

Izabela86 · 09/12/2019 07:42

@ninemonthwait mine came with me to the appointment on Saturday. I want him to be as involved as possible, as that wasn’t the case during my last pregnancy which sadly ended in MMC at 9 weeks (I’m going to be 9 weeks tomorrow and my anxiety is rocket high). The appointment wasn’t as long as I expected it to be (about 40 mins) and to be honest I didn’t find it very informative. We didn’t discuss anything. The midwifes were just asking questions about medical conditions/history running in our families. I think one of the midwifes was a student. She didn’t know how to spell “architect” and I was petrified when she was taking my bloods! She didn’t manage to the bloods at the end and left me with a massive bruise instead 🙄🙄🙄

ninemonthwait · 09/12/2019 13:01

@Izabela86 that sounds like a nightmare appointment! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy this time round Flowers

@EnglishRain how are you feeling today? Did you contact your GP?

Hollielouise · 09/12/2019 18:10

Evening! Just thought I'd update that I've had an early scan after some brown spotting - GP sent me to EPU. Measuring 6.5 weeks with a good little heartbeat. Follow up scan in two weeks to check growth 💕

hermionelodge · 09/12/2019 18:32

Fab news @Hollielouise! You must feel so relieved. Always makes me so happy reading positive outcomes!

Hollielouise · 09/12/2019 19:10

Thanks @hermionelodge I was thinking we are probably due around the same time based on the first measurements you had and my latest ones? When is your next scan? Mine is 23rd so will know more then.

hermionelodge · 09/12/2019 19:21

@hollielouise going by my scan last week, I should be 6 weeks tomorrow so not too far behind you. My scan is next Tuesday, the 17th! It's dragging on! I have my midwife appt this Wednesday so I'm looking forward to that. It's nice you have another scan just before Christmas. I still have a private one booked for the 24th so I might still keep that of everything is ok next week

mywrencalls · 09/12/2019 20:00

I feel like I'll be the last one having my first midwife appointment - earliest they could fit me in was 31st Dec Confused so I feel like I have ages to wait.
Good to read everyone's updates Smile

Missdrifter · 10/12/2019 19:06

@mywrencalls that does seem along way! Have you had or booked an early scan? Sorry if you have already said. My midwife appointment is on the 23rd, I had one scan at 7 weeks and tempted to book another but I don’t want it to ruin Christmas if it’s any bad news so I might try and wait.

How is everyone feeling now? I will be 8 weeks on Thursday and it’s seriously dragging!

amysara24 · 10/12/2019 19:16

@missdrifter I’m the same - I think I’m 8 weeks on Thursday or Friday. I have my fertility clinic scan tomorrow and then my first nhs one next Friday, slightly annoying them all being so close but I’m hoping it will reassure me for Christmas.
My boobs are massive and so tender, and still having occasional nausea though no vomiting! How have you been? I think it’ll drag until the new year and then it might pick up a bit! I’m hoping anyway!

Missdrifter · 10/12/2019 20:02

@amysara that’s exciting having a scan tomorrow and I am sure everything will all be fine. How many scans are you offered on the nhs in Scotland? We are only offered two.. one 12- 14 weeks and then next around 20weeks. But surely if they are giving you one at just over 9 weeks they would need to give you another before 20 weeks? It’s so strange how it’s different everywhere.

I am seriously bloated and my jeans are really tight, also my boobs are sore and tender on and off. Been feeling shattered but that’s about it. Are you feeling more confident about it all now?

ninemonthwait · 10/12/2019 20:52

Can anyone else not stop eating!?

Nothing seems to be filling me up and if I get a bit hungry I start feeling nauseous!

Good Luck with the scan tomorrow @amysara24

@Missdrifter when is your next scan?

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 10/12/2019 20:55

@ninemonthwait I can’t stop eating either and already feel like I am piling the weight on. My next booked scan is my nhs one on the 10th January. But tempted to book another early one, how about you?

ninemonthwait · 10/12/2019 21:07

@Missdrifter I have one on 23rd December so will be 9+4 which we will use to show parents at Christmas all being well. I am worried about the weight gain, I don't think I am going to be a bump only pregnancy.

Those who already have children, when did you start to show with your first? Hoping Christmas weight gain will keep me covered for a while at work in January!

squirrelnutkins1 · 10/12/2019 21:49

@ninemonthwait I'm the same! Eat eat eat! If I let my stomach get empty I feel sooooo ill! I also have a scan on 23rd. Hopefully I'll be 8.5 weeks. Eek.

Kiki275 · 10/12/2019 21:49

@ninemonthwait I'm exactly the same. I've had more nausea this time than my last pregnancy which makes me eat even more. My clothes look horrendous and my 'bump' is huge of an evening x

Chlandy · 10/12/2019 22:26

Also can't stop eating! If I stop eating I feel SICK with starvation, only relief I get is eating 😅 I've gained 3.5lbs so far but feels more and it's deffo going on quicker and quicker 🙈!
@ninemonthwait I showed about 13 weeks with my first, I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and have a 'bump' that's there all day and night, had my midwife appointment today and she confirmed I'm showing and not going crazy 😂 despite baby only being tiny, apparently 2nd time your body pops out quicker to make room 🤷🏻‍♀️ struggling to hide it so think we'll be brave and announce to the world after my scan on 20th when I'll be 9 + 2 all being well 🤞🤞 I agree tho @Missdrifter time is going so slow it feels like it's actually going backwards!
Hope you're all having a good evening and feeling ok 🤰🏻 xx

EnglishRain · 10/12/2019 22:31

Thanks for asking @amysara24 I didn't go to the GP in the end no. I've figured out it's definitely heartburn making me feel so rotten though! Been trying gaviscon, rennies and ranitidine. The thing that seems to help the most is chewing gum oddly enough.

I am insanely anxious right now. Got midwife tomorrow and I've booked another private scan for Thursday afternoon as well. I've just got this awful feeling that something is wrong. Having niggly pains occasionally and I just feel so grim every day. Not sleeping well either, finding the first trimester awful tbh Xmas Sad

Vickiduduu · 10/12/2019 22:41

May I join your discussion, due 30th July according to ff app, 6 + 5 today. First baby so very anxious about everything, especially morning sickness as I have emetophobia (fear of vomiting). Anyone else successfully fought morning sickness and emetophobia?

Kiki275 · 11/12/2019 08:18

@Vickiduduu you may be lucky and not have morning sickness. It's not a definite, I didn't have any 1st time around and mild nausea this time (no actual sickness yet. How many weeks are you?x

Vickiduduu · 11/12/2019 08:35

Hi kiki275, I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow, how far along are you? I've had short bursts of nausea so far but manageable, today is about the worst day, just trying to find things that help. I have motion sickness bands and ginger sweets, these seem to help a little so far. Fingers crossed it stays like this.

amysara24 · 11/12/2019 08:39

@Missdrifter we get two scans - 12 weeks and 20 weeks but apparently the 12 week one can be anywhere between 8-12! I’m worried I’ll have a huge wait between scans.
@EnglishRain I’m glad it was nothing more sinister! I know what you mean though about having that bad feeling, I’m still worrying all the time. Hoping all these scans will put my mind to rest over Christmas anyway!
@Vickiduduu welcome and congratulations! I hope sickness doesn’t get to you too much. I’ve not had sickness yet but plenty of nausea!
