Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

Hey ladies - is anyone having any variation in the intensity of symptoms? My breasts are barely hurting today.... starting to worry I don't feel pregnant enough! Google seems to say it changes but I've had a lot of stress and upset at work this week and now worrying that has caused something but I don't know if it's that fragile?! I've just booked in an early scan for the 17th...

amysara24 · 06/12/2019 11:19

@ninemonthwait @Missdrifter I’m so pleased you both had good news at your scans!
I have my first midwife appointment this afternoon, quite nervous but excited!!

ninemonthwait · 06/12/2019 11:39

@amysara24 hope it all goes well.

@Hollielouise I wouldn't worry too much. I have zero symptoms but saw a healthy heartbeat and measuring correctly at my scan yesterday. I think it does vary person to person. Hopefully your scan on 17th will put your mind at ease, I definitely feel better since having mine

Thanks ladies.

@Hollielouise I was exactly the same worrying about lack of symptoms and like you I had sore boobs then they felt fine and today I have woken up and they are a bit sore again. I don’t have any other symptoms. When I had my early scan yesterday I was told that it’s fine and symptoms can vary.

Chlandy · 06/12/2019 12:22

Thank you @EnglishRain and pleased to hear your scan went well too @Missdrifter . Had mine this morning all went well :) (abdominal) and saw really clearly and heard a strong heartbeat (said it was 136) 2 days ahead of what I thought so due 22nd July... hopefully will relax a bit more now! My symptoms keep coming and going too I had morning sickness Sunday - Tuesday then been fine just feeling a bit nauseas since, it is concerning when they come and go but was reassured today that is normal xx

amysara24 · 06/12/2019 13:55

@Chlandy I’m glad to hear your scan went so well! It’s so hard not to worry about everything at this stage isn’t it, I feel like I’m constantly a bag of nerves!

Chlandy · 06/12/2019 14:19

Thank you @amysara24 it really is!!! Hope your midwife appt goes well today xx

Missdrifter · 06/12/2019 15:52

Congratulations @Chlandy on your scan. So far we have had good news in this group. Let’s hope it continues and that we all have healthy pregnancies. Let us know how your midwife appt goes @amysara24, that’s very exciting.

amysara24 · 06/12/2019 18:56

Hi ladies! So everything went well, she just asked a whole load of questions, took a wee and blood sample and gave me some vitamins. I also got the date for my dating scan - 20th December! I was surprised it was so early. It means I’ll have 3 scans in 3 weeks with the private one, fertility clinic and that one 🤦🏽‍♀️ Should put my mind at rest for a while! The midwife was so lovely though, really made me feel at ease! I hope you’ve all had a good day and have a nice weekend planned 😁

LucyLucyT · 06/12/2019 23:06

@amysara24 glad it went well, I had my booking appointment yesterday, same sort of thing. Took longer than I realised, just over 2 hours but that was partly because I'm always hard to take blood from so it took 3 goes.
I was probably too honest and now my notes say I was using cannabis before pregnancy! I only tried it a couple of times when I was a teenager, many many years ago 🙈 so embarrassing, will have to keep my parents away from it! Might be 36 but still don't want to disappoint 😂
I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself this week, have a cold which has mostly consisted of coughing, so I've not been sleeping, our heating has been broken since Monday and like others, work is a bit stressful at the moment. Oh yeah and the constant nausea and tiredness! I'm sure it'll get easier soon though, I know I'm very lucky compared to others.

Missdrifter · 07/12/2019 08:29

Pleased your midwife appointments went well ladies. @amysara24 wow 20th is so soon, how many weeks will you be then? Mines not until the 10th now as they said they don’t do it until at least 12 weeks At my hospital. I am tempted to book another scan for when I am round 10 weeks though to be honest.

amysara24 · 07/12/2019 08:39

@missdrifter I think I’ll be 9 and a bit weeks! Which seems really really soon to me.
@LucyLucyT don’t worry mine says I tried cocaine a few times in my early 20’s 🤦🏽‍♀️ Debated with myself whether to be honest or not but I was just incase. You’re right though it’s so embarrassing!

EnglishRain · 07/12/2019 13:46

Wow I'm surprised they ask or are interested in people having dabbled in drugs years and years ago. I lead such a dull life ok health professional believes me when I say I don't even drink!

I've got booking in appt next Weds and just had my scan through for 10th Jan. I've chosen a hospital further away than my local one so will be a PITA going there for bloods etc as midwife can't do them apparently.

Kiki275 · 07/12/2019 17:38

@EnglishRain I think they just want to be aware of any issues. They're particularly interested in previous mental health so drug use might fall in with that? PND could drive you back. They ask about any previous STDs too... imagine having that written on there and your MIL looking 😂 x

mumof1babe · 07/12/2019 20:26

So exciting everyone getting dates for their 12 week scan and having their first midwife appts! I had my booking appt on Friday and same as @amysara24, pee'd in a cup, got bloods taken and was given some vitamins, som history and heigh and weight taken. Was a midwife who I met at my antenatal classes when pregnant with my son who was covering for my actual midwife and she was lovely and we spent more time actually chatting than anything else! She discuss some birth options with me and I was so happy she said I can still have a home birth as I though my options would have changed after having a miscarriage. Seriously considering doing it, am I mad? Just waiting for my letter for my 12 week scan coming through in post.

Returned to work Thursday and have been on all weekend, have had to tell my colleagues as there's lots of clients I can't see due to risk. They have all been so great and supporting, my senior even sent me home over 2 hours early today as he could tell I was absolutely exhausted. Shift work is hell when your trying to grow a tiny human

amysara24 · 07/12/2019 20:32

@mumof1babe I’m glad it all went well! She mentioned birth options too but I think she could tell by my face that I hadn’t thought about it at all!! At the minute because I’ve not got any risk factors she said the same, home birth or water birth could be an option. Considering both but really as I have nothing to compare it to I have absolutely no idea!
It’s so good that your work are supportive, that will make such a difference as things progress!

Kiki275 · 07/12/2019 21:17

@mumof1babe you've been there, you've given birth and you know what it's all about. No, a home birth does not sound crazy. You could even look into buying/renting a home birthing pool.

I've not had my booking in yet, but I'm pretty sure I don't want inducing or an ELCS. DS was 2 weeks late, induced and EMCS. Definitely all for the hospital though, I'd get zero privacy at home x

mumof1babe · 07/12/2019 21:41

There are so many different options it's crazy!!

@Kiki275 would definitely be great if you could avoid inducing and EMCS or ELCS, I hope baby comes in plenty of time, my first was early so I'm hoping this one doesn't come late and I end up having to consider those options. Birth options are so personal aren't they and everyone's preference is so different. My SIL isn't from UK and she says it's common practice for all mums to just get given epidural and that be it. She about fainted when I said I was considering just staying at home!

@amysara24 thank you! a water birth would be great I got in the pool too early and got too hot so I had to come out but i would have loved that first time. We are thinking of hiring a pool so I can have a water and home birth in best possible scenario! Now I know what my first birth was like I would feel comfortable being at home second time, so many people shared some horrible birth stories with me and I was petrified first time round then went on to have the most amazing labour and birth. If anyone tries to share any bad labour/birth stories with you kindly tell them to shut up lol 😂

amysara24 · 08/12/2019 08:27

@mumof1babe I know, it’s so much to think about! I know I’d rather avoid a CS unless it’s an absolute emergency. There are so many horror stories out there aren’t there! I just hope I’m not one of them.
I had surgery years ago and it turned out my appendix had gone gangrene & ruptured and the consultant was gobsmacked that I wasn’t in any pain (I was hours away from death apparently!) so I’m hoping that’s a sign I’ve got a good pain threshold!
I think if you feel comfortable at home then why not go for it, it would be a lovely personal experience! Especially if you were able to do a water birth at home.
I heard somewhere that there can be a link between how your mothers birth experience was and how yours will be - anyone know if there’s any truth in that? With me my mum was in labour 9am -5pm (I’ve never heard the end of being “a full days work”!) and my brother was almost born in the lift on the way up to the maternity ward - it was so quick!

EnglishRain · 08/12/2019 09:36

Are any of you vomiting not long after taking medication? How do you know if the medication has stayed down? Sad

amysara24 · 08/12/2019 13:31

@EnglishRain I’ve not had any vomiting, just some nausea! If it’s medication you rely on I would definitely speak to your dr about it. Might be worth trying taking your tablets in the evening g or with dinner if you feel any better then than in the mornings?

@englishrain I'd call the out hours GP in your area. You don't need to suffer. I was like that my first pregnancy and had an anti sickness injection in my bottom that helped for a few days. They might want to put you on a hydration drip. Let me know how you get on xx

ninemonthwait · 08/12/2019 20:24

Did those of you who had your booking appointments take your partner or go it alone? I am terrible at retaining information so think I will take him along, I think he feels involved that way too.

After my first meeting with the Midwife I couldn't believe how much there was too consider, I have a lot of research to do but currently think a water birth could be an option.

mumof1babe · 08/12/2019 20:55

Gosh @amysara24 you must have a high pain thresh hold! I can imagine that is true my mum never realised she was in labour with my twin brothers or me until she was ready to push and I was same with my son, her labour with me was quicker than my brothers so hoping that's the same for me this time round!

@ninemonthwait I didn't take my partner with me but only because I had a midwife appt prior to my miscarriage in early October and he attended that so I knew all of his answers and needed him to look after our wee boy! There are loads of questions though and some that you definitely need to be certain of like genetic disorders
