Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

@mywrencalls my booking appointment is at 10 weeks too followed by my dating scan at 12 weeks. I have booked a private early scan though because i am quite anxious.

@amysara24 I am feeling ok thanks but pretty tired. How are you feeling? How did you parents react? I bet it was the best birthday present for your mum. We still haven’t told our family and friends yet but I think we will struggle to keep it a secret until Christmas.

mywrencalls · 28/11/2019 17:48

@Missdrifter Was your scan booked at the same time as your booking in appointment? I know it works differently in different areas but I'm just worried that my scan will take weeks and weeks to sort out. Where I live seems to have a 'back log' with everything.

Missdrifter · 28/11/2019 17:51

@mywrencalls no they didn’t mention the scan at all to me, they just posted me a letter with the date etc on about a week after I made the booking appointment. I am sure you will get a letter soon, if not I would certainly chase it up.

amysara24 · 28/11/2019 19:07

@Missdrifter I’m doing ok, having nausea on and off though I’m hoping that’s a good sign. Tiredness is definitely starting to kick in! We’re waiting til after Christmas to tell my in laws, but it’s so difficult!
My parents were so pleased but mum is now as anxious as me, she knows the issues we were having with TTC!
I have my midwife appointment next Friday, so hoping they’ll be able to keep me right as to what’s going on and what will happen when!

mywrencalls · 28/11/2019 19:10

@Missdrifter Thanks for that info! I'll give it a week or so and if not heard anything I'll give them a call Smile

Hi everyone I got my BFP on Saturday, I’m 5+2 according to LMP, 3 weeks since ovulation.

I’m absolutely convinced it’s about to go wrong at any minute, I’ve not even phoned the doctors yet. I did phone the fertility clinic as this is a Clomid baby and I wondered if they would want to see/ scan me but they were just like ‘oh ok we’ll discharge you then’ which seems terribly premature to me. I know it’s stupid but I feel like I’ve jinxed it.

I’m 40 and this is my first pregnancy.

amysara24 · 28/11/2019 19:27

@aliasgrace congratulations on your bfp! I’m about 6+2 with #1, also a Clomid baby. When I phoned the fertility clinic to tell them they booked me in for an early scan on 11th Dec - might be worth ringing them to ask about this?

Missdrifter · 28/11/2019 19:31

Congratulations @AliasGrape! I am also convinced something will go wrong and I am not letting myself get excited.

@amysara24 bless your mum, my mum would be exactly the same. My partner doesn’t seem worried or even thinking about it to be honest. He doesn’t understand why I am so anxious and I think he is getting a bit annoyed at me being miserable.

amysara24 · 28/11/2019 19:37

@missdrifter I think the men find it hard when they can’t see or feel anything! Hopefully the scan will change your OH way of thinking and he will get excited!
My DH is starting to come around, he’ll ask “how is the bean” most days 😂

Missdrifter · 28/11/2019 19:41

@amysara24 that’s sweet of your DH, my partner has tried to talk about it but I keep telling him to shhh because I don’t want us to get too excited. I think I do need to try and relax a bit more because we are so very lucky to be pregnant, I am just constantly worrying about it going wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️.

AliasGrape · 28/11/2019 19:52

Thanks @amysara24 - I did ask the clinic but they said there’s no follow up as I wasn’t having ivf and that if needs be I’d have to get rereferred to them from GP. I thought it was a bit shit to be honest but there we go. I’m going to ask my gp about an early scan as it’s apparently a thing for Clomid babies but for some reason I’m putting off calling them, I keep thinking ‘if I can just make it to 5 weeks, no actually till it’s exactly 3 weeks post ovulation, no no if I’m still pregnant by next week’ etc etc. It’s stupid but I’m going to try and hang on for 6 weeks now.

Symptoms wise I’m having so much discharge (I’m really sorry for tmi!) and a lot of lower back/lower abdomen cramping - which combined constantly have me thinking I’ve started bleeding/loosing the pregnancy. I’ve been a bit tired but then I generally am and last week had occasional dizziness but that seems to have settled. No sickness yet I know I don’t really want it but I sort of do just to reassure me.

DP is cautiously excited too. I told him it wasn’t so much a bean as a cluster of cells just now and so now we keep talkIng about ‘the cluster’ and he’ll be like ‘how’s our cluster doing?’.

amysara24 · 28/11/2019 19:56

@aliasgrape that’s very sweet of him, it makes such a difference when he’s on board!
I went to my GP a few days after we found out as I was (and still am!) pretty anxious - because the fertility clinic had already booked the scan he just did some reassuring and the midwife referral. I think it’s definitely worth going to see the GP when you can. The clinic said the main purpose of their scan is to make sure everything is ok and to check for multiples, so the gp might refer you for an early scan too. How many cycles of Clomid did you have to go through?

AliasGrape · 28/11/2019 20:39

@amysara24 It was our 7th cycle I think, we tried two at 50mg but hormone levels were kind of indeterminate so they whacked it up to 100mg. We had one more left after which they were going to look at next steps.

I think the procedure at my doctor is they just give you a number to call the midwife team you don’t actually see a GP. Did you say you were making the appointment for that reason? I think if I phoned asking to see the GP I wouldn’t get a routine appointment for like 2 weeks anyway!

ninemonthwait · 28/11/2019 21:01

@AliasGrape my fertility clinic booked me in for an early scan at 7 weeks because this cycle was with Letrozole. It's strange how it is so different everywhere!

AliasGrape · 28/11/2019 21:34

@amysara24 and @ninemonthwait - were your clinics nhs ones or private?

I don’t know whether to phone back and ask them to confirm? I thought even just with the higher chance of multiples they’d at least scan you before discharging.

To be honest I’m really in two minds about an early scan. I’m half decided to just book a private one for 7/8 weeks ish but we’re getting married in just over 3 weeks and I just feel like if it’s bad news I’m not sure how I’ll be able to paint a happy face on for the wedding.

Kiki275 · 28/11/2019 22:26

Our bump is called midge and DH says goodnight to it every day. DS was known as nit until he arrived x

LittleMrsMama · 29/11/2019 07:25

I booked a private scan via Groupon for just £40 and go on Sunday (6+6) and would highly recommend. Feeling more anxious about it as I get closer but good to have peace of mind.

I've been staying active and reading everything on here, am I the only one who's throwing up multiple times a day? I don't think I need to be worried but DH thinks I'm having a girl or twins because my 'morning' (all day Sad) sickness is so bad

ninemonthwait · 29/11/2019 07:41

@AliasGrape mine is NHS. A Christmas Wedding sounds magical! Completely understand why you are unsure whether to hold off on the scan.

@littlemrMama oh no! Sorry about your sickness! Still no symptoms for me, if they do kick in I will be regretting the day I wished for them!

Kiki275 · 29/11/2019 08:00

@LittleMrsMama doesn't necessarily mean multiples, but if it doesn't ease them speak to the GP about some anti sicknesses pills. HG can be debilitating x

ladyofearlybedtimes · 29/11/2019 08:43

I'm five weeks today and besides slightly painful boobs I've not had any symptoms. When did people get symptoms and what did they get?

JackGordonsMummy · 29/11/2019 08:45

I had terrible morning sickness with my 1st from 8 weeks to 23 weeks I was in bed ill as if I had a bug of some sort. DS is 2 now and as I'm approaching the 8 week mark (o weeks exactly today) I'm feeling more and more nauseous throughout the whole day! Just hoping I'm not as sick as last time cos I has my little boy to look after this time around. Waiting patiently for 2 weeks today for my 8 week private scan so I can relax and enjoy my pregnancy so scares something will be wrong

JackGordonsMummy · 29/11/2019 08:50
  • 6 weeks today since my lmp
mywrencalls · 29/11/2019 09:17

I'm just over 5 weeks too, and not much going on besides slightly sore boobs. Not much appetite but no hint of nausea yet (thank goodness).

From experience I've had sickness earlier than this point so I keep hoping and wishing that maybe I won't suffer with it this time. Although deep down I know it'll probably creep up on me over the next few weeks. I'm terrified! It's bloody awful Sad

LittleMrsMama · 29/11/2019 10:57

Thanks everyone! I was sick again this morning and am dreading at least another 6 weeks of this! It's going to be so hard not telling family and friends when I'm feeling so unwell.

How's everyone doing today? Anyone also already outgrown their jeans with bloating? Shock

mywrencalls · 29/11/2019 11:55

@LittleMrsMama ...Super bloated in the evenings despite eating very healthily and not eating much past 5pm. Things are starting to taste different too, I'm still able to have my morning coffee but it's not tasting great Hmm
