I've caved today and bought a pram! (I know, way too soon).
It's second hand, silvercross pioneer expedition, I paid £160. It's all in good working order and in a good condition, so I'm pleased. I'm not planning on using it long term, I just want a carry cot for when baby is super small. I have a bad back and I think I'll invest in a nice new lightweight pushchair for longer term/ lifting in/out of the car - any suggestions?

I'm planning on getting as little 'stuff' as possible, except for essentials, I might wait and see what I need when the baby is here, if I think I'm missing something, there's always next day delivery. I find it quite daunting and overwhelming with everything that is available to us.

I have a Moses basket from my sister and she has also given me loads of clothes.

I would like a snuzkot cot bed.. just for the way it looks!

Bumpingalong84 · 14/11/2019 20:43

@mintbear I think that sounds sensible. I got way too much getting carried away when I was pregnant with DD.

We spent about 1K on a travel system that we hardly used after a year! We got a silver cross zest for a holiday then we just never used the other one 🙈 It was just so much lighter.

@rosewater20 I never really took much notice of the weight of the car seat to be honest. I tried my best not to leave her in it and transferred her to the pram most of the time.

Bumpingalong84 · 14/11/2019 20:44

I would not have been without my next2me, she was in it till 7 months by my side. Made breastfeeding so much easier. And even if DH got up I found myself awake anyways.

slowrunningteacher · 14/11/2019 21:39

@Sunshine8888 I booked my NCT today 😂. Only 1 set of times really worked for us from the suggested options, so we thought that we'd better sign up before it fills up!

Sunshine8888 · 14/11/2019 22:06

@May2311 oh brill thanks! ☺️ At least I can have nice long lashes along with my expanding boobs and waistline 🙈

@woollycat , harmony test results were back in less than a week 😊

rosewater20 · 15/11/2019 00:22

It sounds like I will probably need a Moses basket for sleeping outside of the bedroom. I may wait until he is here though and try the Uppa baby cot and see if that works (although maybe it will always be stuck to the pram and not able to move around the house). I do feel overwhelmed at the number of things you can by. DP family want to have an American baby shower for us when we go to visit, and I feel like I should let them as this is the first baby in about 25 years for his family. But the thought of getting a bunch of stuff we don't need overwhelms me. I am already imagining having to sneak off to return things before we come back home.

@Smiffette I have been getting horrible headaches too. Pre-pregnancy I rarely got headaches but have now been getting them on an almost nightly basis. They can sometimes last through the night and into the morning. I started getting worried that something else might be wrong (tip: don't google "daily headaches") but it seems these are common in pregnancy. I will mention to my doctor next week, though.

rosewater20 · 15/11/2019 00:23

@woollycat My Harmony results came back in nine days.

woollycat · 15/11/2019 06:28

Thanks guys, sounds like Harmony results vary but I should get them within 2 weeks after tomorrow.

I have no idea what to buy for baby. I want to find a checklist thst tells me exactly what I need. I don't like having clutter and unnecessary things around the house so want to be very careful about what I buy or take from friends.

In other news, nausea and sickness have subsided significantly at 13w🤞🏻 It has now mostly turned into actual "morning sickness" where I either throw up or almost throw up my morning cereal, but feel better during the day. Hope the trajectory continues and also hope for those of you who still struggle, it starts getting better very soon! I never believed my case would get better this soon as it was unbearable especially in weeks 6-9.

Helensss · 15/11/2019 07:24

@woollycat my friend wrote be a really helpful list which I’ve begun already! We’ve just bought an I candy all terrain baggy for 170 off eBay, hardly used so felt it was too much of a bargain not to! I’m also planing to get most of it 2nd hand as I don’t want to end up spending a fortune xx

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/11/2019 07:54

How is everyone doing?
I've not been on this thread for a while (been on my honeymoon!)
I'm 12 weeks today, I have my dating scan on Tuesday.
Still suffering badly with hyperemesis, I dont really have much else to report!

Sunshine8888 · 15/11/2019 10:52

@woollycat results take two weeks if sent to America, less than one if sent to London so depends!

Just had my 16 week check up, it was so lovely. Met my midwife for the first time who was fab. She said it can be hard to find a heartbeat this early but she said because I’m slim (nice of her) she gave me the option to try. I said yes please of course and she found the heartbeat straight away - it was really wonderful and so reassuring. Happy Friday! 💖

helpasisterout · 15/11/2019 11:33

Going to tell our families and a couple of very close friends this weekend (13+2) I know they will be surprised but really happy for us but I feel sooo nervous anyway! Got some little personalised cards with a scan photo in them so will just tell them I've done Christmas cards really early this year I think.

How did any of you guys find telling family and friends? Scary? Fun?

Missmuck · 15/11/2019 12:12

@helpasisterout we told all family the day we found out (less than 4 weeks) it was great and fun to happily shock everyone (my youngest is 13 next week) had a few comments off people we know like why? And crikey you must be mad etc but that doesn't bother us we knew it would be surprising it's our first child together and thought we wouldn't be having one everyone's happy and excited for us only downside is I have no pregnant friends all my friends are done baby making but I'm sure I'll get chatting to people at playground etc x

Sunshine8888 · 15/11/2019 12:37

I have loved telling everyone! Most have been told in person and every time it’s so lovely to see reactions and chat about it all.

mrsf1204 · 15/11/2019 13:28

In the same it's been so lovely to tell people! We've managed to film all those face to face and some over the phone too which has been great. For my sister in law we sent t shirts down to her children for our nieces birthday so she only found out as her kids opened their gifts! That was a brilliant video haha!

Anyone else starting to get cravings? I've got a real thing for Tuna and sweet corn sandwiches! Never liked them as a kid but ooo now! Annoyingly I have to monitor how much though so I don't have too much Tuna! But two a week are deffo my thing right now. It's been salty stuff since I found out I was preggers so this is a nice change!

Missmuck · 15/11/2019 14:35

@mrsf1204 smokey bacon crisps can't stand them normally as they repeat on me so much been having a pack most days, also mashed potato, takeaway curry, can't stomach battered food or anything too greasy, meals seem to take me ages to eat as I feel the food is struggling to go down x

mrsf1204 · 15/11/2019 15:55

@Missmuck you are exactly like me! I have also had a thing for smoky bacon crisps! And yes to eating, I feel full immediately as soon as I start dinner. I have to give it a few mins then I can carry on.

Sunshine8888 · 15/11/2019 17:26

Crumpets with lots of real butter, marmite and cheese!!

And still hating green stuff

Lifesforlivingandloving · 15/11/2019 17:51

Mc coys salt and vinegar crisps
Peanut butter and jam on toast
Apple juice
Their the only 3 things I really kinda crave
I think I've gone off more foods than I have likes for lol

Raw cheese is a no go ( fine if it's cooked like on a pizza)
Tea
Bananas
Salad
Plus quite a lot more lol

16 weeks now and it's going quick 😊 how is everyone feeling ? X

Missmuck · 15/11/2019 18:47

@mrsf1204 oh wow lol I think it's the savoury saltinessSmile
I'm weirdly not been feeling crap for 2 days so managed to get some deep cleaning done and a 54hr work week yay! Family visiting this weekend so looking forward to that now x

Clairesoph · 15/11/2019 20:33

Mmm love cravings talk, I just love food! Im easily putting 3 stone on, I cant stop eating!!! Main cravings here are crisps dipped in caramelised onion hummus (WEIRD never even bought hummus in my life) and ice cold orange juice which was exactly the same with my first baby! Already suffering hideous heartburn and chucking back Rennies left right and centre. The belly is a ridiculous size considering my app says the baby is only as big as a fig but second time round so apparently you show alot sooner 😩

mrsf1204 · 15/11/2019 22:48

I'm also putting on weight rapidly, but like all of you I just want crisps and salty stuff and have gone totally off of greens which I used to love hoping it comes back. I have had a few days this week wanting watermelon but literally lasted a few days and now that's gone.

I'm also on the apple juice! It's not so much food craving I have but more fruity drinks! Love a bit of Shloer and Appletiser at the moment!

Sunshine8888 · 15/11/2019 23:23

Orange juice every day for me! Also like satsumas a lot and any juicy fruit, just not vegetables 🤢

november90 · 16/11/2019 06:49

Is anyone else getting really bad headaches?
I never normally suffer other then the day before my period so I know for me they are hormonal... but they are just horrific! I've been getting them since about week 9. I've read online they are normal so I'm not worried but I do NOT remember these from my first pregnancy 😩😩😩😩😩

Craving wise I'm all over the desserts and treats! Gone off pretty much all meals apart from cereal and cheese and beans jacket potatoes... or any type of potato. I also can't stop thinking about turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravy...... and potatoes! But the top of my list are my sweet treats like apple pie and custard, pick and mix, yogurts, chocolate, more desserts! I swore I wouldn't get fat this time but now I don't care! Bring on the desserts!
