Due end of June/start of July 2020

Hello Everyone!

I am due my second baby on 27th June 2020. I thought I would start a separate thread for those due at the end of the month as I don't know about you but I feel a bit left behind in the June thread . Maybe we can have people from 20th June to 4th July in here? Then we will all be super close!

Maybe we can comment with a bit of info so I'll start:

Due date: 27th June
Baby: #2
TTC cycle: 6
Symptoms: nausea when hungry and hot flushes

@Nicol4shaw yep loads of period type cramps. Had them with my 1st as well, just everything stretching and growing.

@lgxo It’s a bit bizarre how they won’t date your pregnancy according to when you ovulated, since you KNOW. How frustrating! At least it will get adjusted and you know your real dates!

I know! But to be fair, it means I’ll get a dating scan earlier than I would if they put me down as 4 weeks! It was a trainee midwife that was referring me to the hospital, so that’s probably what she’s been taught. But I’m sure she knows that not all women ovulate cd14!

This is my first as well so we’re in the same boat! Lord knows I spent many, many hours looking at 1000’s of different threads on here before getting a BFP.

How old are you? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m 25☺️

@Magpiefeather I know exact day that I had conceived. Do you mean I can recalculate my due date? I am abit confused with due date and dating scan

I think (correct me if I’m wrong people!) that you calculate how long it’s been since you ovulated and then add 2 weeks to that? It’s so confusing.

@Lgxo so it is calculated from the first day of your last period. At least this is what I know. Online calculators use same system according to # of days in your cycle. But I read somewhere that after dating scan your due date might change?!? Anyway, we'll all see !

So before the dating scan midwives and doctors use the first day of your last period to start counting from. This method assumes that you ovulated on cd14, so there are two weeks before ovulation that are counted as your first two weeks of pregnancy but you weren’t actually pregnant then.... which means if you know when you ovulated you could just add two weeks onto that date for more accuracy.

At the dating scan they date the pregnancy by measurements of the foetus. So often your due date will change at the scan.

The bit I’m not sure of is how to work it out from conception... the fertilised egg takes time to travel and implant itself doesn’t it? Do we count from when sperm meets egg? You might have ovulated a few days after the erm delivery of the sperm, (it can survive for 5 days right?) all very complicated.So I don’t know where you would count from. Sorry I’m no help! Starting to see why they just go from last menstrual period haha

It is. But a lot of women don’t ovulate exactly on cycle day 14. I ovulated on cd31, as I have irregular cycles. So they’ve dated me as 6+2 as of the first day of my last period. But I know that I’m not that far along because I know when I ovulated. So I’m 4 weeks today, because I ovulated 2 weeks ago. They’ll tell you what you’re measuring at the dating scan, so I know for certain when I go for mine, they’ll measure me 2 weeks behind.

I’ve booked a private scan for 3 weeks time anyway so they’ll tell me there what I’m measuring at ☺️

@Magpiefeather @Lgxo interesting and confusing.. My periods are regular every 29 days and I know when I had conceived (4-5-6th) so more or less 4 weeks sounds right... i havent booked a private scan although 12 weeks sounds like ages.

Do you go for private or wait until dating scan? I thought if there is a problem, I would know (bleeding, pain etc)

I want to go private for 4d/3d scans and for gender if nhs dont tell.

But let me know what you think. May be I should book an early preg scan...

@lgxo - similar timeline - I got my 1-2 on CB digital on Monday. Tried this evening and again same 1-2. But I had BFNs over the weekend so I think I’m probably just under 4 weeks.

So say you conceived on the earliest date possible, you’d be 5 weeks tomorrow. Latest date, you’re 4+5 tomorrow. So with early scans then can detect a heartbeat from 6-6.5 weeks. I’ve booked mine for the day before I’m 7 weeks. It’s just an extra reassurance instead of having to wait until you’re 12 weeks.

You’ll have a dating scan and then you’ll have another scan between 18-20 weeks or so, you can ask them the gender then. Or private places do it as early as 15 weeks I believe.

It’s up to you whether you want to book an early scan. I think I’m doing it just more for peace of mind. But each to their own, plus it can get expensive!

@bikibikimum @Lgxo I'm struggling a bit with what people at work are going to say because I'm scared I'm too young! But I recently got married and it's what we wanted so trying not to get caught up in what other people might think. Only my husband and my mum, have you guys told anyone?

Yeah! You might be a couple days behind me. But also I think everyone’s HCG levels can be different anyway. Give it a few days and do another one. They are expensive! I never thought I’d be spending this much money on tests AFTER I got a positive.

Have you booked in with the midwife or anything yet?

@Lgxo I'll see if I can wait until 12th week. If I cant I'll book one. I promised myself not to panic and over think negatives but be relaxed instead. I used to have panic disorder (panic attacks) and I will try to keep a low profile with business as usual attitude. Fingers crossed :) I am sure everything will be fine for all of us!

Who cares what anyone else thinks! If it’s what you both want & you’re happy, that’s all that matters. Luckily, I’m my own boss so I don’t have to deal with that Haha.

I did tell the girl who works for me today, I just thought she’s bound to figure it out sooner or later. I told my boyfriend, of course, his mum and my mum. But all my siblings (they’re younger than me), wouldn’t leave the room when I did, so they all know too haha.

That’s such a good attitude to have! I have anxiety so I’m always thinking the worse will happen. I wish I was more chilled like you!

@Scrubbyy everyone is struggling with people at work I am sure! I am waiting my performance review also want to wait until couple of more weeks to be sure. But I dont think I would be able to hide.. So far onlyy best friend and hubby know. Even we didnt tell families yet

@Lgxo after 3 years of theraphy! If I start being anxious, it will consume me again. So no thanks...

@lgxo Ah thank you, I think I just need to be reminded every now and again to stop worrying about other people's opinions. That's great that you're your own boss as well! I think I'm gonna tell my manager at one point when I start sorting appointments out because she's bound to find out!
