j20baby · 19/08/2007 21:36

hi alice

have posted on your other thread.

i don't think my finger is broken now, i think its because my hands are so swollen, its just aching more from hitting it with the hammer than it would normally if they were'nt swollen ifskwim, i can't clench my fist at all with either hand, but thank you for the info

mrsfish-sorry i didn't say earlier, have you tried putting your leg up to see if that helps with the aching?

OP posts:
MrsFish · 19/08/2007 21:43

J20 - yes its ok in general, hasn't been aching since last night, I think it was because I was standing so much at the wedding yesterday. Today I have mainly been sitting

greedygreedyguzzler · 19/08/2007 22:07

OH MY GOD EVERYONE!!!!! stop talking about nurseries and hospital bags!!!!!!! anyone would think we are having babies soon!!!!!!..........i cant even start to think about the nursery or hospital bags properly yet till ou house is finished and you are all stressing me out!!!

had a MW appt on fri and apparently i am now having a small baby! ( you wouldn't think it to look at the size of me!!!) at my 27 wk check i was told i was measuring 4 wks ahead of my dates and i was having a BIG baby! midwives hey! what do they know!!??

nellie - my lo keeps squirming too and i find myself saying " stop it baby!" or "not know please baby, i just cant cope!"................it can be really uncomfortable cant it?

MrsFish · 19/08/2007 22:20

Hi Greedy - I want to be early rather than overdue, but not too early, DH goes away on the 30th, not back till the 9th

I JUST WANT TO BE COMFORTABLE AGAIN!

MrsFish · 19/08/2007 22:22

If anyone needs cheering up, read this mumsnet thread, fecking hilarious

greedygreedyguzzler · 19/08/2007 22:22

30th august, not sept i take it!!! that would be REALLY out of order!!!
were you late last time? i was 8 days late with ds and 1 day late with dd.....dont know if that means anything really!!

MrsFish · 19/08/2007 22:25

Yes I meant August

I was 4 days late with ds, the anticlimax of not going to labour on my due date was horrid, I can't imagine being 2 weeks late would do my head in. Thinking of having another 6 weeks to go is doing my head in atm, I'm ready to end it NOW

greedygreedyguzzler · 19/08/2007 22:35

that thread was so funny! it can't possibly be genuine though...............can it?!!!

j20baby · 19/08/2007 22:36

so much for an early night-feel better after a bag of turkish delight though!

totally agree that it'll be a relief to get lo out, playing the waiting game is so frustrating, but i suppose we should be careful what we wish for. off to bed now, night all, sleep well

Morning All

J20 -so sorry to hear about your time in hospital. At least all is ok.

I had to go in twice too and am back in later today. Just checking that LO is ok since one aspect of last growth span had tailed off a little. Have to have blood flow checked today. Am hoping everything will be fine - am sure it will be!

MrsF - thanks so much for posting that link. was pmsl reading it! hats off to that mnetter! Hope your aches and pains have calmed down after a night of rest - mine are always better in the morning.

Greedy - sorry will stop talking about hosp bag....although mine is half packed as for a moment on sat thought they were going to admit me! Need to get a few things for it today, then done. The one for the baby is packed already - how that is finished before mine is beyond me??

FloriaTosca · 20/08/2007 08:35

G'd Mornin'!!!!
Just popped in to say Hi after a very very hectic but pretty good weekend..but got a bit delayed answering Alices thread..so got to go now to see the diabetic nurse now to find out how bad the magnums are for me...I'll be back and catch up with you all later!

dal21 · 20/08/2007 08:48

Lisa - fingers crossed for your section.

FT - only a cruel person would take away your magnums at this stage! Hope they don't!

ejt1764 · 20/08/2007 09:27

Morning all ... I had a lovely time at the Festival of Quilts, but am now utterly exhausted ... the hotel we were staying with had a pool, so I spent some time in there after each day at the exhibition - otherwise, I would have been absolutely good for nothing!

Going to have a few quiet days this week - I may invite some of ds's friends around to play (ulterior motive here!) - but having said that, we're going to a cricket match this afternoon - a pro40 game - I've not been to one before - Twenty20 is usually about my limit - but if we get too uncomfortable, we may just go to the pub!!

Hope everybody is well - j20 - you have to take it easy!

buffy - did you get the details of your bump buddy in the end? Do you want me to try to resend them?

See you later!

alicet · 20/08/2007 10:12

Good luck today Floria, dal and lisa....

Ejt - glad you've had a good weekend!

MrsFish - pmsl at that thread!!!!

Thanks in advance to all who posted on my other thread - off to check it out now!

OMG we have just had a red food colouring disaster!!! Ds was playing in the food cupboard while I was getting our breakfast. He loves those little bottles of food colouring and flavouring and as he has recently been able to open screw top bottles I did think 'better keep a close eye' as he was playing with the red one. Next thing I know it was all down his front, both hands, in his sandals and all over the floor!! Think the clothes are probably a goner although the trousers are red so might be fine. Basically stripped him in the kitchen trying not to let him touch anything but he was very excited and wriggly and wanted to run eveywhere! Finally got him down to his nappy and took him upstairs for a bath. After about 20 mins of scrubbing though there are still red stains on his hands and feet! And my hands!! Oh well! Said food colouring is now on a VERY high shelf!!!!

Off to asda now a little later than planned!! Back later...

alicet · 20/08/2007 10:23

Thanks everyone for all your comments and helpful advice on my other thread - this is what I said over there to avoid you having to go back and look!!!

I think I will let it ride for now...

Its not the spoiling I'm so worried about tbh as I too think theres nothing wrong with treats now and then (he gets that with me too sometimes!). Its more stuff like when he cries at bedtime she just lets him stay up and gives him loads of different things at mealtimes if he won't eat whats on offer... Which makes it harder for me when we get home.

But still take your point (esp from those who I know have older children and it hasn't harmed!) that as its so infrequent it probably doesn't matter! Thanks for reassuring me....

And ejt I agree about the discipline not affecting ds's relationship with his other gp's - they are very happy to tell him no and need to do much more often as their house isn't as child friendly. And he is just as happy with them!

See you later lovely ladies....

MrsFish · 20/08/2007 10:29

Morning all.

Had a lovely lie-in this morning, well until MiL decided to ring up at 9.25 that is. I was taking full advantage of ds having a very rare lie-in, he finally woke up at 9:35, I think he is having a growth spurt.

Me leg seems a little better today but will still be careful with it. Not sure what to do with the rest of my day, I suppose it will have to be housework, the house looks a tip.

Alicet - about the food colouring, it should wear off his hands in a couple of days

Hi all

Glad to hear about good weekends, fun festivals, wet weddings and so on. Sorry to hear of puffy hands and hospital trips.

J20baby - belated Happy Birthday! - and to get straight to an unpleasant point - go to the doctor about your piles. I was suffering until dr prescribed wonder cream (and I really upped the fibre and water in my diet). Only needed to use to the cream for a few days. Though just thought, you have maybe done this already, in which case, sorry you're still in pain. I can only sympathise.

Lisa - wonderful news about Peter . Hope your gran's doing ok.

Hi again Alice after your break. And ejt - glad you enjoyed yours.

On the whole, I'm in less pain than I was, for some inexplicable reason my groin pain (SPD?) has got much better and I no longer have to take baby steps every time I go downhill! My hips have stopped hurting too. Sleeping still isn't great and the baby is kicking and squirming constantly. Last night I swear s/he shook the bed with a particularly violent jump!

I've had some annoying bump comments too, but on Friday DH and I were walking back from the pub (don't tell that fanatical american!) and a woman walking the other way, who had obviously been commenting to her equally smily friend, said very smilily 'ooh what a lovely bump'. Gave me a warm and fuzzy moment !

Right, best get some work type stuff done ...

See you later x

alicet · 20/08/2007 12:12

Apricott and MrsFish glad to hear your aches and pains are getting better!

Inzi - enjoy your aquanatal andtime with your dh! Sounds fab.

Well ds will be off for his nap in a min and I'm going to join him. Not literally in the cot but need to catch up after a shite night last night. So will be back for a chat a bit later....

Fingers crossed again for everyone with appts / results today xxx

FloriaTosca · 20/08/2007 13:36

G'd Afternoon All!
Well they have taken my Magnums off me...and everything else!...Basically my post-glucose result was only 0.4 away from being diagnosed as diabetes rather than glucose intolerance..so I've got to watch it carefully, I have to do a blood test (finger prick) just before each meal and keep the result regularly between 4 and 6 or next week they will be making me test before AND after meals, and if it doesn't stay down I'll be put on insulin and probably induced at 37/38 weeks, which of course increases the chance of needing a CS which I want to avoid at all costs...And boy oh boy am I popular at the hospital, they now need to hold regular meetings with my consultant and Heparin doctor to discus LOs growth and my health and keep everything balanced...yet more work for the poor souls!...so I'm not going to whinge about the loss of my sweeties and chocolates...but be warned; anyone posting on here complaining about feeling sick after stuffing their faces with biscuits or angel delight or turkish delight or anything else of a delectable nature is likely to get short shrift from me!!!

FloriaTosca · 20/08/2007 13:49

J20...About the old "farmer giles"..if you haven't already got them sorted. My brother has just developed them (oh am I going to be popular for telling the whole world!! )in a very, very bad way....His have prolapsed and have turned thrombotic are utterly massive and they wanted to admit him to hospital for bed rest until they are reduced enough to operate on...He has been given 3 weeks sick note just to start with! The specialist has got him applying magnesium sulphate dressings to the prolapsed ones to reduce the swelling, and ice packs, has him on a very, very high fibre diet and drinking gallons of water, and as I said got him on total bed rest he also has given him a cream that can only be used for 5 days at a time that apparently makes anusol look useless, so if you haven't got yours seen to please do so.
Sorry you had such a bad time at the hospital..hope things get better soon, but please don't go decorating friends kitchens for them...yes she was generous but you are saving her money in cattery fees too... please learn to accept gifts graciously without feeling you have to give double in return will you?

Mumpbump · 20/08/2007 13:58

Just popping in. I don't seem to be able to find the time to catch up on this thread properly... I'm lurking, but unlikely to get the time to post much until after bubba is born. As soon as I go on maternity leave, I will be grouting, curtain making and painting a la J2O!!

Sorry to hear about your GTT results, FT. You can control your sugar levels a lot through diet so I'm sure it will be okay. Sounds like you have a lot of expert/medical attention focused on you at the moment which can't be a bad thing...
