A shiny new thread for our May mum's.

A big thank you to @Shak19 for setting up the original thread, you started this group and we are all so grateful for that.

Here we go, month three in the pregnancy journey 👣

Thanks @mrsf1204. Midwife was lovely and knew about the mmc. She was really positive and reassuring.

It’s a pretty long appointment, usually an hour. Where I am in London you get paper medical notes, no apps or anything like I know some people do.

You have a blood test done to check your blood group, a full blood count to check iron levels, and hepatitis/hiv and so on bloods. A urine sample to check for glucose and other things. Then they just go through past pregnancies/births. Mental health. Life style. Any medical history for you and partner. Just tons of paperwork. I’ve already got a date for my 16wk appointment so praying I get to that point!!

Wishful30 · 10/10/2019 16:44

So I told my head nurse today 👀
Thought it best given my job description. Even tho I'm mainly based on reception I have often ended up in theatre.
Very very odd telling anyone. Not even 7 weeks yet but she was very understanding and said I did right telling her

Doodlebug321 · 10/10/2019 16:59

@Wishful30 is it you who works at a vet practice? If so, definitely did the right thing as you need someone who has your back should there be an emergency situation / who understands you don't want to be subjected to anaesthetic.

Doodlebug321 · 10/10/2019 17:02

@Bumpingalong84 glad it went well today :)

My booking appointment is next week, but I already have all the paperwork and have filled it in. Still scared I won't make it to that point. Arghhh.

Wishful30 · 10/10/2019 17:22

@Doodlebug321 yep that's me 😬

Doodlebug321 · 10/10/2019 17:25

@Wishful30 no point putting yourself & bump at risk because it's early days. You're pregnant...end of 😁 Midwife will ask / recommend telling work asap for a risk assessment at your booking appointment, so you've already ticked 1 box 😁

Helensss · 10/10/2019 19:09

@Sunshine8888 how did you get on this eve? X

Sunshine8888 · 10/10/2019 19:33

Hello 😊 @helensss the scan went well! Heartbeat found, here is little baby! Measuring 10+4 so I am 10 days behind LMP expected and about 6mm too small to have the screening tests so I’ll be asked back in about 10 days time! I have also booked the harmony test for next weds! I’m so relieved and it’s starting to feel real now. The baby looks so much more like a baby! Also was given a flu jab! Thanks to all those who wished me well 💕

ChampooPapi · 10/10/2019 19:47

@Sunshine8888 fantastic news and brilliant scan photo, amazing to see when I checked in this evening. I'll fall asleep with a smile on my face after seeing that, just amazing 🙏

@Sunshine8888 yay that’s amazing news! You must be on a high right now 😊😊 xx

Sunshine8888 · 10/10/2019 19:58

Thank you so much, I was so nervous and my bladder so full that I had to go and empty it a bit for the scan 🙈 clueless! I’m so happy and excited that I’ll get to see little baby again soon

facevalue · 10/10/2019 20:02

@Bumpingalong84 i'm in london too - my midwife sent me details about an app ( i attached for you) maybe you should ask about it.

@Sunshine8888 i love the picture. it makes it so real. is it possible to think it's a lovely baby 😍 already xxx so so happy

so after feeling normal and worrying cos i didn't feel pregnant i took a nap - then since this afternoon after eating my KFC i've been nauseous - holding the antisickness tabs jar toying with the idea of just taking one! i had said i would avoid all meds this time for no logical or medical reason. in my first pregnancy i took everything under the sun but i'm keen to do without even if suffer a little.

@Sunshine8888 ahh yeah I bet! My date hasn’t arrived yet, I might phone up tomorrow x

Bumpingalong84 · 10/10/2019 20:41

@Doodlebug321 you will get there! Not long now.

Ohh @Sunshine8888 what a beautiful scan picture. You must have felt so emotional. EPU are scanning me at 10+2 on the 29th, I’m praying I’ll see something similar to your scan. Has filled me with smiles this evening.

@facevalue my sister in law who lives in epsom just down the road got online notes. Sadly mine are all old fashioned paper ones, still in the dark ages but can’t fault the hospitals maternity services so far.

Lifesforlivingandloving · 10/10/2019 20:46

@Sunshine8888
Lovely scan pic x so happy all went well x

facevalue · 10/10/2019 20:49

@bumpingalong84 ooooooh we r very close! r u also in surrey ? small world x

kstann · 10/10/2019 21:06

@Sunshine8888 Congratulations on your beautiful scan. 🥰

Are you going private for the harmony test?x

Sunshine8888 · 10/10/2019 21:46

Thank you 😊

Yes @kstann I’m going private, it’s pricey but I’d like to know everything is looking ok. Plus we have decided to find out the gender at the same time!

Bumpingalong84 · 10/10/2019 21:48

Haha @facevalue technically Greater London as my DH would argue. We are in kingston! Where are you. Yes small world

kstann · 10/10/2019 21:54

@Sunshine8888 thank you. I've been looking at the private clinic I had my early scan, and they offer the Nuchal screening, but more thorough than the NHS, as well as harmony as well as panorama. Need to speak to my OH and see what he thinks. My 12 wk scan is on the 21st and was hoping to tell people then but ideally would like to know all is well. And would have to wait for bloods to come back x

Sunshine8888 · 10/10/2019 22:02

Yes @kstann I’m hoping I will have had the Harmony results by the time I have my 12 week scan and then all being well I’ll be able to tell people and even reveal gender if I choose to ☺️ I can’t even imagine getting to that day as the first trimester seems to go on forever but we are getting close now!

Sunshine8888 · 10/10/2019 22:03

Also ladies sorry if tmi but does anyone know how to treat thrush if pregnant? Is it ok to use a pessary? I completely forgot to ask today at the scan 🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m feeling a bit sick and bleugh, I’m wondering if it’s the flu jab 😬

november90 · 10/10/2019 22:31

Wohooo! Congratulations @Sunshine8888 !!! What a gorgeous photo of your little love 💖 Having had the dating scan are you gonna go public with the news now? I can't wait for it to not be a secret anymore! It genially feels a lifetime! I have my first midwife app tomorrow 😬
