Thanks @Jesskir89, really appreciate it! I don't have one that shows anything because of the terrible sonographer, but I will once I have a good one from a private scan.

To everyone who was asking about future scans after 20 weeks, it turns out that my NHS trust does do routine scans at 36 weeks for everyone (they booked this for me yesterday).

Jesskir89 · 22/10/2019 19:29

@minijmac I thought that with the finger too lol

MunchyMunchkin · 22/10/2019 20:53

@yvonne1988 mine hurt for a good 3 days, especially when laying on it. Fine now though.

Jesskir89 · 22/10/2019 21:32

@sadtoday21 sorry I missed your post. When are you having a private scan? @yvonne1988 it does leave you a little sore but OK after a couple of days

barnyb · 23/10/2019 13:09

Thanks @maria94 ! How it all going with you! Any movement ? any changes for you? Xx

thankful16 · 23/10/2019 13:42

Hi all,

I haven't posted in here in a while. Just wanted to share my news that I found out yesterday at my 20 week scan that I'm having a girl! The sonographer was really helpful and really took her time explaining everything and what we were seeing to my partner and I.
I still can't believe I actually have a wee baby growing inside me. Don't think it's going to feel real until she's here / I'm in labour! Haha! It was amazing being able to see the baby in detail.

I'm 20 weeks + 3 and haven't been feeling much movement wise yet which seems odd going by my scan yesterday, the baby was constantly moving around. Hopefully I'll start to be able to feel her properly in the next couple of weeks. I have felt small taps here and there but nothing obvious. Not going to worry myself though since all looked well in the scan yesterday.

I had a scare last week when I got home from work and noticed I had started bleeding. I went to the maternity assessment unit and after many hours and 2 examinations of my cervix, I was sent home and asked to come back the next morning where they gave me a scan and couldn't find any cause for the bleeding. I also had to get an anti d injection as I'm rhesus negative. It was also the first time I got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was relief to know that everything was okay.

maria94 · 23/10/2019 14:49

@barnyb all good so far thank you! She has days where she is super active and I can see my belly really moving which is amazing and then other days where I don't feel much at all.. what week is it that they develop a pattern/rhythm to their movements? Is it something like 24?
How's it going with you? Can you believe we are 21 weeks!!! Xxx

whiskersonkittenss · 23/10/2019 14:57

hi all. I don't think anyone warned me about how strange it is to feel the baby moving Grin he was right up behind my belly button this morning and I got a video of him moving my stomach too. he seems to prefer my left side.

Yvonne1988 · 23/10/2019 15:35

@whiskersonkittenss mine seems to prefer the right. Finally saw it move my stomach last night. Been trying to catch it for few days but would always stop. Moving all the time now

barnyb · 23/10/2019 15:58

@maria94 I'm exactly the same! The last few days she's moved a lot! And strong! Two nights ago was the first time iv actually seen my belly moving and it only happened once in the bath! :)
But today it's basically nothing. I think it's 24/26 weeks. ?
I'm feeling so much better sickness wise but still getting very tired and also iv started to get a bit ratty with husband 😅😢 especially when I'm tired ! can't believe we are 21 weeks now ! I feel like the recent weeks have gone quickly!
xxx

maria94 · 23/10/2019 16:44

@barnyb ah if must be normal then! I haven't had a day where I've not felt any movement at all.. just quieter and more active days. Feels like she's having a party today lol! Have you tried the cold fizzy drink trick? That always seems to help for me.
Ugh yes the tiredness! That doesn't seem to be going any time soon either!! Xxx

barnyb · 23/10/2019 16:48

@maria94 oh yes well like today, I have had the odd very mild niggle which I tend to pass off as not her but I guess it must have been her! Lol
Yes I have got a couple cans of Pepsi In the fridge for kicking emergencies lol.
I notice she gets grooving after iv had a hot drink and sit down too. Lol

Piratepearl · 23/10/2019 17:01

Hi ladies

I have been a long term stalker of mumsnet and thought it was finally time to join in!

I am currently 20 weeks + 5, due 7/3/20. This is my second baby and just had our scan to reveal it’s a boy this time round! I had to go back for a second scan as they couldn’t get all the measurements but this has now been done and all appears fine which is a relief!

The only thing that was picked up was that my placenta is rather low lying, partially covering (that’s what I read in the notes) so they have said they will rescan at 32 weeks and take it from there. Just wondering if anyone else is the same boat? I obviously frantically googled what this meant and all I found were horror stories (shouldn’t have expected any less!) but the midwife didn’t seem fussed and didn’t give any further advice.

MissPepper8 · 23/10/2019 18:07

@Piratepearl Welcome and congrats on your baby boy xx I can't give any advice about the placenta sorry but I hope everything's ok for you x

Ah @whiskersonkittenss that's so lush 😍 I'm really surprised this time with baby moving, movements are so strong I can feel little twirly things but I can deffo feel kicks or a punch and I'm only 19 weeks. DS wasn't much of a mover but I cut out all caffeine with him but this one I'm guilty of drinking diet coke still as water/squash makes me vomit.

Anyone getting much pain second time round? I'm seriously struggling with ligament pains in my groin, lower back and at the front (seems to be all the way round hip/pelvis area). Occasionally sharp in the front tummy but my groin and lower back are aching all day. I think I'm gonna buy a pillow soon, I can't even sit.

Yvonne1988 · 23/10/2019 20:05

I went to Asda tonight and picked up my mum to be bounty pack. Waited to get to Asda because that had more things in the pack

threegreensheep · 23/10/2019 20:20

@piratepearl welcome! I'm also 2nd time round, 20 weeks today. Low lying placenta is fairly common at 20 weeks, but 90% will have moved by 32 weeks. They will rescan you then. If not moved or still low scan at 36 weeks then discuss delivery options. It's most dangerous if it is completely covering the os (cervix). Just watch out for any vaginal bleeding, especially if you are rhesus neg. Most people are fine though and don't have any bleeding. Hope that helps. Please ask your mw if you have any more concerns.

threegreensheep · 23/10/2019 20:22

@piratepearl, sorry that was a very 'midwife' answer. I need to be careful about giving out medical advice here
🙈

MunchyMunchkin · 23/10/2019 21:34

@threegreensheep I thought it was well summarised advice and I was coming to say something similar!

Jesskir89 · 23/10/2019 21:39

@threegreensheep are you a midwife? If so I might bombard you haha. Welcome @piratepearl

Dinosauraddict · 24/10/2019 06:37

Welcome @Piratepearl and @strawberrye! Had my anomaly scan yesterday and all seems well, but couldn't check the heart properly so got to return in a fortnight. Had both whooping cough vaccine and flu jab yesterday in different arms, so rather aching this morning. Having a few problems with pregnancy still - HG is killing me, and my MH is suffering majorly for the first time in my life. Pregnancy is not easy!

Jesskir89 · 24/10/2019 06:59

@dinosauraddict what's HG and MH? Glad your scan went well and at least you get to seem him again :)

threegreensheep · 24/10/2019 07:17

@Jesskir89 yes I'm a community midwife. But we get in trouble for giving out medical advice when not in a official NHS role so I'll keep stuff general! In case anyone sues me ha. 🙈
If you are in certain hospitals, they are rolling out something called Facemums where you join a secret Facebook group and can ask a midwife questions and she posts links too resources etc. For women that speak English is sounds great! Maybe ask about it, they have just added about 4 hospitals to the list.

Keyboard91 · 24/10/2019 07:23

@MiniJMac I’m due 26th so pretty close!

@Dinosauraddict my MH is struggling and I’ve had a ‘relatively’ straightforward pregnancy in comparison to you. Mine seems to come and go so we are just monitoring at the moment (I’ve had depression in the past), but please do see MW/GP if it’s persisting for some support.

Today is the first day of half term (hooray!). We have a private gender scan booked for Saturday so really really excited. Think I’m feeling small movements (18 weeks) which as I’ve got an anterior placenta is really lovely as I wrote off feeling anything for another 4+ weeks

Loved all the candid ‘real’ insights! Have any of you pooped during delivery ... and is it as traumatic as I’m picturing it in my head?

OP posts:
Dinosauraddict · 24/10/2019 08:53

@Jesskir89 MH = mental health, HG = hyperemesis gravidarum, basically extreme pregnancy sickness.
@Keyboard91 sorry to hear you're struggling too, I'm waiting for a call from the perinatal MH team today as things got too much yesterday.

Yvonne1988 · 24/10/2019 09:36

I wouldn't say I'm in extra pain this time but I feel more uncomfortable. My bump seems to ache a bit more and Braxton Hicks 😩

My MH is great this time. I was worried about it. My first I feel I was too young and after the 1st scan I cried every day. At least once about something. Worried where I'd be living how id afford it if I even knew what to do. I'm just struggling with how I look this time round. Thought it wouldn't be so bad but I already has issues .. don't my my partner to go off me cos I get so big!
