Hi everyone sorry I am late to the thread I'm 19+3 due 10/03 can't believe I'm nearly halfway! Has anyone started buying things for the baby yet? I'm holding out for the scan next Wednesday (think we're finding out) Grin

Yvonne1988 · 18/10/2019 20:11

@gingerbiscuitqueen I'm 18 weeks today and I have only bought a tiny bit. Just pick something up every now and then but I am saving my proper shopping til after the scan.

gingerbiscuitqueen · 18/10/2019 20:31

@Yvonne1988 my scan luckily coincides with the Sainsbury's TU 25% off week - can't wait to pick up a few bits! I'm also contemplating buying the side sleeper crib currently in Lidl. Has anyone looked into slings/ baby carriers? Smile

Yvonne1988 · 18/10/2019 20:48

@gingerbiscuitqueen I have a sling. My mum bought it I had one with my daughter. It's just a grey wrap around thing. I love them. Can't wait to use it.

Yvonne1988 · 18/10/2019 20:55

What are people doing about coats? I'm not sure I can justify forking out for a maternity coat but none of mine fit now and I live in Scotland lol it's already cold

MissPepper8 · 18/10/2019 21:52

@Jesskir89 I worry as at 5 weeks I was hospitalised and given anti sick drugs, I've read cleft palette can occur when they're taken but I've still been really unwell and not eating alot (I'm trying to, but Im still vomiting) and that's also a risk. It's freaking horrible :(

@Yvonne1988 What about ebay? Getting like a bigger size up? I was fortunate with DS I stayed in same size and didn't bother buying maternity wear (when I got to near due date I sized up for comfort after birth).

I've got a few open waterfall macs and a fur coat that I think I can get away with 😂 but my new superdry coat I'm buggered as it's tight fitting.

sep30 · 18/10/2019 22:03

@Yvonne1988 I've been thinking the same!! Can't do my outdoor jackets up now and getting very cold/wet walking the dogs!! I was debating buying a cheap foldaway anorak type thing and then just having that as a waterproof lager on top of jumpers?! And I have a jacket that ties at the waist for going out (out out) that should hopefully last the duration...!

Yvonne1988 · 18/10/2019 22:05

I can't bring myself to buy a bigger size. All my winter coats are fitted. Got my mum to get me one on her catalogue lol. I have such poor circulation I get so cold lol I need something big and thick.

MissPepper8 · 18/10/2019 22:09

@Yvonne1988 That's what my superdry one is like, fitted, padded and warm. With the bloody stormy weather we're getting lately I was going to need it too 😫

Yvonne1988 · 18/10/2019 22:26

@misspepper8 aw yes I have a superdry one that's is like wearing a quilt. I live near the coast too so we get some wind.

blondie87 · 19/10/2019 08:09

I have resorted to wearing my husband’s coat 😂

Good luck with your scan @Jesskir89

Jesskir89 · 19/10/2019 08:41

@mockingjay27 were really close I'm 18 today :) welcome @gingerbuscuitqueen and I bought the side crib the other day as its only 80 at lidl atm but around 200 everywhere else. @blondie87 thank you will update you all once I've had it :)

DaniX91 · 19/10/2019 09:16

Good luck for your scan @Jesskir89
We had ours yesterday and all is well 😍 was amazing seeing everything in such detail. Good job we paid for the private gender one thought cos the little monkey wouldn't open her legs again and the sonographer said at the nhs one they don't have time to keep looking for gender if the baby is being awkward as the scan is for medical reasons which is understandable! X

Jesskir89 · 19/10/2019 09:39

@daniX91 thank you. Was yours just yesterday? Congrats on having a baby girl :)

jollybobs89 · 19/10/2019 09:50

I got a coat a bigger size and then when it comes to the end of its life I'll just keep it open 🤣🤣

When does everyone have the flu jab and whooping cough? I'm 17 weeks midwife didn't mention it the other day and can't remember from my 1st pregnancy

Dinosauraddict · 19/10/2019 09:50

Welcome @gingerbiscuitqueen - we have the same estimated due date! So far I've (or my DM) have bought quite a lot (they have a fully stocked wardrobe up until 12-18 months, they have all their nursery furniture, the whole room has been designed around a jungle theme so everything from new leaf blackout blinds, 6 foot wooden tree bookcase, large stuffed giraffe, leaf canopies, my favourite an orangutan side table etc. I have also got my old traditional rocking horse out of storage and that now sits in front of the fireplace in their room, so it's really coming together. Got storage boxes for their toy cupboard, got extra rails put in their wardrobe etc, and some of the probably more useful techy bits include changing the ceiling light to a Hive dimmable by phone version! Going to the baby ExPo tomorrow though and a couple bits left to get (Moses basket and car seat being top priorities)!! Grin

DaniX91 · 19/10/2019 09:53

Yea it was yesterday afternoon @Jesskir89 I'm 19+1 now, had the gender one at 16+2 and so glad I did cos I had a feeling baby wouldn't cooperate at the nhs one! Let's just hope Window to the Womb is accurate and she is definitely a girl 😂 x

Jesskir89 · 19/10/2019 10:10

@daniX91 I'm sure she is haha. @dinosauraddict you're more organised than me! Lol sound lovely

Dinosauraddict · 19/10/2019 10:42

Haha thanks @Jesskir89 we've waited for this little one long enough, I already had their nursery designed in my head! Good luck today!!

MunchyMunchkin · 19/10/2019 11:00

@gingerbiscuitqueen I’ve got a stretchy wrap to start and then an integra buckles. Used both and loved them last time. In fact I get the integra(also known as connecta) as a gift for my close friends/family who are expecting.

@Yvonne1988 I picked up a maternity/baby wearing parka in the jojo outlet which is near me. Was pregnant in the summer last time so this is new! Don’t need the extender panel just yet but it’s toasty and warm. Can also still fit in my Boden raincoat without issue.

MunchyMunchkin · 19/10/2019 11:03

@jollybobs89 whooping cough is after 16 weeks and flu is ASAP before the season kicks in!
Just had both of mine yesterday so have slightly sore arms. GPs only got stock of flu this week so it was good timing. Our staff ones at work haven’t even arrived yet.

blondie87 · 19/10/2019 11:28

Please can we see a picture @Dinosauraddict- sounds amazing!

Jesskir89 · 19/10/2019 12:21
